1. After seeing the new trailer for Pikmin 4, I was struck with inspiration for my old Custom Fighter system idea, and decided to make a new topic for it. So, in contrast to the Mii Fighters of SSB4 and U, these Custom Fighters have far more customization options and are intended to fit the look of different game series, not to mention can borrow moveset material from them. These are the options I'm thinking of: Series - This determines your fighter's series. Each series has its own selection of features, voices, specials, and so on. Species (Pokemon only) - Your Pokemon fighter's species determines its race, build, and height. Trainer (Pokemon only) - You can choose to give your Pokemon fighter an accompanying trainer who appears in the background. This option is automatically set to on if your Pokemon fighter has a special linking them to another fighter. Race/Class - Some series allow you to choose from multiple races and/or classes, which each have their own sets of cosmetic and gameplay options. Cosmetic Symbol - Your character's symbol for their damage display and victory screen. In the past, each series had a specific symbol, but here, you can choose from a variety, such as Bowser's Face for the Super Mario series or different Hyrulean tribal symbols for The Legend of Zelda. Features - These are cosmetic features with no bearing on gameplay. Hair, skin/fur, mustache, eyes, mouth, ears, clothing, accessories, etc. You can save multiple configurations as costumes, up to eight per fighter. Voice - Your character's voice, which has no affect on gameplay. Animations - Various animations for standing idle, running, and so on. Victory - Your fighter's victory jingle and animations. Gameplay Build - This affects your fighter's physique. A heavier fighter has more power, weight, and shield durability, while a slimmer fighter has more speed and less weight and lag. This setting is disabled if Pokemon is the chosen series. Height - This determines your fighter's height. A taller fighter has more reach and weight, while a shorter fighter has faster attacks and less weight. This setting is disabled if Pokemon is the chosen series. Attacks - Your fighter's ground and air attacks, which are chosen as a whole set and determine whether a character is capable of crawling, wall clinging, and/or wall jumping. Specials - Your fighter's specials, which are chosen individually, one for each of the four slots. A handful are available from the get-go, more can be unlocked. Some specials allow you to link one custom fighter with one or two others from the same series for transformations or tag-teams. These specials come in binary (A ↔ B) and rotating (A ➝ B ➝ C ➝ A) varieties. Final Smash - Your fighter's Final Smash. Grab & Throws - Your fighter's grab and throws, which are chosen as a set. Taunts - Your fighter's taunts, which are chosen individually, one for each of the three slots. A single taunt can be chosen for more than one slot. Name - Your fighter's name. You can of course save more than one custom fighter, and you can use an existing Custom Fighter as a starting template for a subsequent fighter. When choosing fighters on the roster, there is a singular Custom Fighter slot on the roster that brings up a list of custom fighters you have saved, similar to Mii Fighters in SSB4 and U. Something that would be really cool is if the game has enemies that are basically CPU-controlled custom fighters that you yourself can create, with full movesets. For example, Koopa Troopas, Moblins, or Kremlings. In most cases, Final Smashes would be disabled for these Enemy Fighters, but most other moveset options would be fair game. Many custom specials would be unlockable through my proposed Adventure Map or some other specific method. For example, you could find a chest in Adventure Map that contains the Ice Rod, unlocking it for your Zelda-series custom fighters. If unlockable fighters return, their specific attacks, specials, and cosmetic options could be unlocked with them. Same goes for DLC fighters, who would now bring their Series as a custom fighter option with them. For example, if Crash Bandicoot were to be added via DLC, the Crash Bandicoot series would become available for Custom Fighter Creation, and give the player a plethora of Crash-themed Custom Fighter options, including components that allow you to recreate Tawna, Coco, Fake Crash, Ami, Isabelle, Liz, Megumi, Crunch, Another Tawna, and Fake Coco, as well as variations thereof. These would be some examples of series with races, species, or other equivalent categories.
2. Are there any specific taunts which have the power to burn you up inside and get your blood boiling more than the rest? Personally, I don’t mind taunts at all and usually find them funny ^^ but some other people can get irritated by them and lose control of their emotions after feeling mocked. If you’re one of these people, which character’s taunts are the most effective at making you go berserk? I feel like Peach and Palutena’s side taunts would be super effective on people’s psyche. Peach sings and dances with a taunting tone in her voice which I could see getting on people’s nerves a lot. Palutena’s laugh is so condescending and people can get really frustrated with her for that xD I also think Zelda’s down taunt can annoy people. I main her and I like to use it sometimes because she’s so cute with her giggle but I think people get really annoyed at me in arenas for it xD their playstyle turns all angsty and aggressive and they only target me if it’s an FFA. I guess her laugh makes people rage lol Sooo what taunts make you guys salty and why?
3. What was your first Smash Bros game? Which Smash games have you played so far? What's your favorite Smash game? Who's your favorite character in the parts you have played? Who's your least favorite character in each part you have played? What's your favorite stage in each part you have played? What's your least favorite stage in each part you have played? What's your favorite music theme in each part you have played? What's your favorite mode in Smash overall? What's your favorite item? What's your favorite taunt? Do you rather play alone or with friends? What's your favorite free for one mode (time, stocks or coins)? What's the perfect Smash battle for you? (stage, characters, items (?) ) Do you usually play with items? What has been the hardest challenge (events, all star mode...) for you? Are you excited for Smash Ultimate? If so, in what are you the most exicted for? In which new character are you the most excited for? In which returning character (character who wasn't constantly in the cast since Melee) are you the most excited for? In which classic character are you the most exicted for? What's your opinion about the Echo character? Any character you want to see in Smash, but hasn't made it into the cast yet? In which videogame series did Super Smash Bros introduce you? Have you ever built a stage? Could you imagine that Smash Ultimate that could become the final part of this series? Have you ever played competitive? With whom can you go under Final Destination? How much do you care for tierlists? How would you describe your experience with the Smash Bros series in three words?
4. I'll start off by saying this: "Too many FE characters, too many sword FE characters, too many..." yadda yadda yadda. Please don't bring that here. This thread is for people who may still want another Fire Emblem character playable in Super Smash Bros. If you are not one of those people, then this thread is not for you. Now, on to the topic... Let's hypothesis! Let's say that they announce they're adding ONE more FE character to Smash Bros. Ultimate's cast, and YOU get to decide who it is! You could promote Lyn from Assist Trophy to playable fighter, or bring in someone entirely new. Any FE character you wanted! Who would it be? (The choices on the poll are just the characters I've seen requested the most; if the character you'd pick isn't there, sincerest apologies!) I think you all know by now who I'd pick. Lyn, of course! She's been my most-wanted character since Brawl, it'd literally be a dream come true if she were finally added as a playable character.
5. Smash for Switch has been announced! What are your thoughts on it? Who do you think will be removed? Who do you think is added?
6. So I've been wanting to make some YouTube videos for a while now, and while I could do PC gaming since I have that setup going for me. I want to be able to do some Console videos as well, specifically Wii U, and later on Nintendo Switch videos. Right now I have some Smash 4 videos in mind, and I'd like to have a capture card to record it in good quality. While I would use the replay system to do acquire footage, I would imagine it would be easier to be able to record it. And Smash 4 Wii U's replay system of uploading to YouTube it only uploads the video at 720p 30fps. Which while it's not terrible, it still takes a long time to do with that method. And I personally believe a fighting game like smash 4 should be shown in 60 fps. I've done a bit of research and apparently the Elgato Game Capture card is popular, so I have my eye on buying one. However I've found 3 different versions of it so i'm confused on which one I should buy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/elgato-game-capture-hd60-s-black/5187800.p?skuId=5187800 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/elgato-game-capture-hd60-multi/7634008.p?skuId=7634008 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/elgato-game-capture-hd/8838042.p?skuId=8838042 Anyone happen to know which capture card out of these would be the best? Quality wise and Money wise.
7. Hello everyone, some days ago an small article I wrote was finally published in Source Gaming. This article is about "How would work Micaiah in Smash Bros?". You can read it here: http://sourcegaming.info/2016/12/22/ds-micaiah/ What do you think? Do you like it? Do you have a question about the moveset or my reasons to write this article?
8. I made a short rap for Ganondorf that's been brewing in my head for a while. Decided to see what others think about it(kinda can thank Epic Rap Battles of History for inspiration)! "I am the Ganondorf, you cannot hope to possibly beat me! I am the Ganondorf, You can try as much as you please! I am the Ganondorf, but I will still beat you with ease! I am the Ganondorf, I will bring you down to your knees! I am a Warlock, a powerful king, hits so hard, it'll leave more then a sting! Your power can't match, you barely have a chance, try to tango with me, it'll be a short dance! And if you anger me, all H*** will break loose, and you'll be reduced, to a stain on my boots! So go ahead, set in the ring, It will most certainty, entertain your King!" I hope it was good! ;3
9. lmao, so no joke, my friend and I were playing a couple rounds of Smash 4, and I like to go random as he's still trying to come to grips with the game, right. So we pick the stage, and it gives us a tip for Palutena, and I kinda have this weak moment in my brain where I go: "Palutena.. Palutena, Palute- who is Palutena?" So the battle starts, cue her entrance animation, and my mind goes blank so I pause the game and look at him, and he mirrors my look. We both laugh in the moment, because.. Palutena is just so irrelevant in Smash 4. I COMPLTELEY forgot she existed, at all. And I secondary Pit!
10. Its been released two days ago, but i'm surprised no one is discussing it here, so i decided to just go ahead and make a topic. https://smashboards.com/threads/4br-smash-for-wii-u-tier-list-v2-0.440779/ Link's here. What i find the most interesting is the rather large gap between the angels. Whats up with that? Thoughts?
11. Now, I know that there are quite a bit of Fire Emblem reps already, but only one from what might be one of the most famous eras of Fire Emblem: the Gameboy Advance era. So, if we could have more representatives without taking up other spaces of potential fighters, who would you want? Keep in mind, I only said the Gameboy Advance thing because I'm biased towards it, so choose anyone, from the NES, SNES, GC/Wii, etc. Also, feel free to list your ideas on play-style or attacks. My personal choices: Hector and Lyn. Lyn would be an interesting weapon-user with emphasis on both spacing and getting up close, while Hector would be like Ganondorf with an axe, sort of. Lyn: (Note: always has sword in sheath until she attacks. I also have no clue of how her PM version plays) Jab: Basic slice to knock opponents away; F-Tilt: A leaning slice with little endlag to combo into another tilt. Has somewhat high startup; U-Tilt: Slices upwards in front of her, hitting twice, and allowing for aerial follow-ups; D-tilt: Shield poke, no clue, really; F-Smash: based on the Sol Katti attack animation where she flips and strikes downwards; N-Air: A kick with low power and low landlag, good for air-to-ground; F-Air: Foward slice; B-Air: Kicks backward, then slices; D-Air: Almost like Marth's D-Air, but sacrifices range for lower end and land lag; U-Air: Dunno; Special: Iron Bow: Tapping special will send out an arrow with low power, but high speed, holding special will do the "Critical" version, where it has a bit more power behind it; Side Special: Attack (Can't really think of a good name): Does her attack animation as a Lord, which has decent power, but can be used as a pressure tool, since it can jump back after attacking on the ground, or can be used as a recovery tool; Up Special: Third Jump?; Down Special: Critical Counter: Basically the All-or-Nothing counter with high attack power but little counter frames. Hector: (Note: HEAVY and surprisingly fast) Hadn't thought much about it, but Side Special as the Hand Axe and Up Special as Armads-Copter?
12. Petition to replace Cloud with Black Mage https://www.change.org/p/nintendo-square-enix-sora-petition-to-remove-cloud-from-smash-and-put-in-black-mage-instead?recruiter=425021782&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink
On another note I would like to thank Serenes Forest for teaching me so much about Fire Emblem and introducing me to the other games (which I find to be way better than Awakening). I've was able to play through FE1, FE3 Book 1, FE4, FE6, FE7, and FE8 thanks to translation patches provided by this community. At first I was an annoying troll, but I realized this was a cool place and changed somewhat, but most still disliked me. I've come here to say thank you to this community and I will now resign from my position as an SF member. Enjoy the petition.
13. Super Smash Bros. with Fire Emblem Battle System o.o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKLbf7GSvOQ
14. A multiple choice poll. Choose Fighters that you think needs Nerfs or Buffs and why? First off. Buff Ike and Nerf Greninja. Nerf - Next, make Roy's sour spot a little larger. Nerf - Greninja Buff - Give Marth a grab combo. Just a little. Buff - Mii Sword Fighter just needs one. Nerf - Sanic just needs to stop being so boring. Buff - Samus needs better ground game and projectile game. Buff - Ike Nerf - Luigi's grab game... juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust a little. A tad. You get the point.
15. Could apply to any game in the series, but I'm mainly concerned with Smash 4 right now. Let's say you go to For Glory, you start up a match in 1v1. For the most part, you don't care who your opponent is, but you pray to Palutena God that it's not a select few. For me, it's Zero Suit Samus, Captain Falcon, Sonic, and Link. ZSS because it seems she's too fast for me to properly react to. The stunning is annoying and almost every person I've seen that plays her spams. CF because, again, he's much too fast for me and is still very strong. His Smash attacks are really strong for some reason and it seems like he can move right out of it very quickly. Everyone and their mother has been able to land his spike and he has way too many killing moves. Raptor boost is dumb in that it covers a lot of the stage, always hits me even when I dodge, and is a killing move iirc. Sonic people are again too fast. I can never land a hit on them and use the grabs a lot. Links just spam projectiles. I've seen few that use him legitimately. It's also worth noting that I abhor grabs. A lot. They just slow down the fight considerably I think. Most people that use them, will use them a lot. It's frustrating. So how about you? And I don't just mean For Glory. Any mode.
16. Alright, the time has come everyone! I must rally up votes for the best character of Fire Emblem history! Er... At least, in my opinion. Make it happen!!
17. So me and my friends have been playing quite a few matches locally since I can't get online with my school network (not to mention its a hella fun) and we typically play with a level 7-9 CPU 7 and 8 are pretty easy and tend to die off real quick. But 9 damn talk about perfect shield every freakin time and perfect dodge from followups. While the offstage game is still a little lacking they are not push overs and we've even lost a couple of games to them (granted we play 4 player with items). Oh and those hard to land Final Smashes and Dragoon jet they land them 100% of the time. Is it me or did they ramp up the difficulty of the CPU's in Smash 4?
18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52DyJJgIh0I So I made a video about this great mod detailing her moveset and some applications, feedback on the video would be appreciated! Mod is from http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=204448 EDIT - Accidentally linked Etika's Video on the mod :P, fixed to my video
19. Having a hard time finding your favorite amiibo? Here's a site I found that updates by the minute on what is in stock and where. It can save time looking at several sites hunting down your favorites and you can even set it to alert you when they come in stock so that you can get it before it runs out. Hope this helps you guys. http://www.nowinstock.net/videogaming/games/amiibo/ EDIT: If you have any other tools or sites to help find amiibos that might help others here feel free to post them.
20. I know it's not likely at all, but, if it were up to you, which additional Fire Emblem character would you add to Smash 4? Personally, I would want Hector to be put in the game; Hector is my favorite FE lord character, and he loves to rumble. I'd like to see him stand toe-to-toe with the other Nintendo characters on the battlefield! P.S. I realize that other games need representation too, but this is just a "for fun" scenario for Fire Emblem. Have fun, and I look forward to hearing your ideas :)
21. There's still plenty to discover about the characters and mechanics in this game, so why not share anything you might have found that no one's really found yet? Naturally, I'm sure some things have already been found out, but not everyone might really know about it. Ganondorf is a veteran that I never really tried out, but thanks in part due to the rebalancing in this game, he's become an honorary main of mine thanks to his contributions to my Challenges in All Star Hard and Classic 9.0. One thing I've enjoyed is the fact that he gets the Sword of the Sages in one of his Standard B Custom Moves. However, I got to thinking about Marth and his Tipper Mechanic, and recalled that the sword that Ganondorf has here is quite slim, much like Marth's Falchion, which got me wondering if it had a Tipper of its own. Well, thanks to some testing with Jotari, I've found out that it does, and that it's capable of Shield Breaking quite easily. Warlock Blade: Tipper Mechanics *A Normal Warlock Blade will completely break a Perfect Shield or lower with the Tipper, but will fail against a Perfect Shield if not Tipped. However, it will still break any other shield, even if not tipped. *A Reverse Warlock Blade will completely break a Perfect Shield or lower with any part of the blade.
22. I just found a pretty minor glitch on the Spirit Train stage. 1. Go to training mode. 2. Pick any character (I did it with Pikachu). 3. Pick Spirit Train. 4. Spawn a Warp Star on the leftmost part of the train (above Alfonzo/Toon Link). 5. Push it to the left by slowly walking into it. The Warp Star should stop rotating. It will never despawn, unless it is used. EDIT: Also, if you spawn several Warp Stars in that exact glitch spot on top of each other, the glow around it will be brighter.
23. For me they are Rosalina, Peach, Villager, Marth, and Lucario. I believe that all of them would be fun to play as.
24. Wifi tournament rules: Players that have to play each other in a round, have 1 week (subject to change) to have their matches. They must PM their opponent and set a date/time in that week time limit in which they both can play their matches. Follow the rules below for matches: Double Elimination 4 stock, 8 minutes. Sets are best of 5. Finals are best of 7. Items set to “off” and “none.” Quitting out of a match before it is over will result in a loss for the quitter. If time runs out, the person with the most stock left (or least % if they are equal) wins. If the % is equal as well, play a 1 stock 3 minute match, same characters and stage. If the match goes to sudden death due to a suicide move (Ganon’s side-B, Kirby/DDD’s swallow, holding someone in a grab on a platform as it moves out of the boundaries, etc.), the one who initiated the move wins. Buffer set to off. In the event that the game crashes or the TV/Wii loses power in the middle of a match, that match will be restarted from the beginning with the same characters and stage. If a player uses a known glitch to intentionally crash the game or otherwise make it unfinishable, that player may be forced to forfeit the match or be DQed at the TO’s discretion. No excessive stalling (this includes abusing Jiggs’ Rising Pound and Mario’s Up-B Walljump) Both players may agree to any rule or stage outside the tournament ruleset. Stagelist: For the 1st match, stage strike the starter list in 1-2-2-1-1-2 fashion. After each match, the winner of the previous match bans 3 stages (Players may counterpick a stage that they previously banned in the set, but may not counterpick a stage on which they won). The player who lost the previous match chooses a stage, then the player who won chooses their character, then the player who lost chooses their character. (this must be carried out in the Private Message here on SF) Starters: Battlefield Final Destination Smashville Pokemon Stadium 2 Dreamland (64) Fountain of Dreams Yoshi’s Story (Melee) (singles only) SSE: Jungle (doubles only) Counterpicks: Battlefield Final Destination Smashville Pokemon Stadium 2 Dreamland (64) Fountain of Dreams Yoshi’s Story (Melee) (singles only) SSE: Jungle (doubles only) Yoshi’s Island (Brawl) Lylat Cruise Wario Ware Green Hill Zone Skyloft Skyworld Entrants: PKL Doofina Gcubedude Esaka Golgar MJThom2009 Comet Zukonima Bracket: http://challonge.com/tournaments/bracket_generator?ref=0VZkUoaCuj
25. So in an [it's "http://www.gamevoices.co.uk/profiles/blogs/april-s-gamevoices-interview-is-with-the-extremely-entertaining-m]interview with Gamevoices, VA/"mo-cap guy" Reuben Langdon mentioned that he played Raiden in Super Smash Bros.: Since Raiden didn't appear at all in Brawl, nor has he ever been voiced by Langdon, many people took this as confirmation that Raiden would appear in some capacity in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS.Later, Langdon claimed that he had mixed up Super Smash Bros. with Playstation All-Stars. However, many have noted this explanation is problematic, as Langdon has not previously voiced Raiden at all(not even in PSA), nor did he do mo-cap work for him in that game since Raiden's animations were ripped from MGR:R(and no, he didn't do mo-cap work for that game either). Edit: I should note that Reuben Langdon has done voice work as Ken Masters and Dante (from Devil May Cry), so he's a notable name. Also keep in mind that this isn't the first time something like this has happened: David Hayter revealed Jigglypuff's return fro Brawl, and Krystal's VA (Alesia Glidewell) leaked that Krystal would be appearing in Brawl. Edit 2: Gamevoices has amended the interview: I should also point out that it's possible that Langdon did uncredited mocap work for the cut scenes in PSA.
