  1. Hi everyone! I just very recently (about a month ago) got into sprite making and animation, and I'd love some feedback on my latest work. Introducing the Fencer class-a trainee version of the myrmidon class! As such, things like the characters sword length (don't take this the wrong way) and height is meant to be smaller than his promoted class. And now introducing another class named the Trueblade class. Fans of Radiant Dawn might recognise this as the promoted version of the sword master class! [spoiler=The Fencer class] Normal attack Critical Attack Magic sword attack Dodge no weapon-1 Dodge weapon-1 Dodge no weapon-2 Dodge weapon-2 This is the latest animation I've made [spoiler=Trueblade class] Normal attack Critical attack Skill:Nova-strick 10 times at normal damage! Magic sword Weapon dodge No weapon dodge Yeeeaaaaahhhh this one isn't all that great (though believe it or not it took well over a week to fully complete). And I (currently) don't feel like going back to fix it. [spoiler=White Druid class] Normal Attack Critical attack Skill Dodge Staff Staff dodge Despite the shading (which I really struggle with), this is only the first animation I made. [spoiler=Murderer class] Normal attack Critical attack Magic attack Dodge weapon Dodge no weapon Whilst this one isn't exactly perfect (especially the shading) I still like it :P [spoiler=Hitman battle sprites] Normal attack Critical Magic sword Dodge weapon Dodge no weapon [spoiler=trueblade map sprites] passive active walking down walking up walking left [spoiler=Map Sprites-White Druid] Passive Cursor placed over Walking down Walking up Walking left/right [spoiler=Murderer map spites] Passive Active Walking down Walking left Walking up While this one isn't too horrible I HAAAATTTTEEEE the 'Walking left' on...the only reason I haven't changed it is because I literally can't think of a better animation to use for it. [spoiler=Robber map sprites] Passive Active Walking down Walking left Walking up [spoiler=Other] I hope you guys like these! These took a pretty long time to make so I hope they turned out well!
  2. Hi. I did some sprites. A character from a completely different game, because why not? Wish I could say it's completely custom made, but the head and left boot are stolen. (Not exactly standard FE colours; I did a quick emblem-ized version but yeech. I'd have to fiddle with it more, but that will have to wait until I'm happy with the... everything else.) Old dude with a stick. It's actually pretty old, so I don't remember if it's entirely custom or if the boots are stolen again. Boots are hard. I'd like to try animating them at some point... but first I want to make sure there aren't any glaring issues with the design. But, I've been staring at them for far too long and need some fresh eyes... So yeah, any criticism would be welcome! (Or you can just enjoy this concept image of an alternate reality where Ephraim gained axes instead of a horse when he promoted.)
  3. Edited this one a bit. Hope she looks better. Two New Sprites of mine. (Personal on the left, gift for my brother on the right.) one of my first animations ever. I'm pretty proud of it. (Will soon be spoiler tagged, just gotta figure out how to do it)
  4. I'm looking to hire a battle sprite artist to create the final boss animation for my mod, The Road to Ruin. I don't update often because I prefer to be low key. However, with development wrapping up, I've hit the point where I need an animation done (I'm no good at battle sprites, otherwise I'd do it myself). To keep spoilers to a minimum, I'll describe what I need through PMs with whoever I decide to hire. Don't worry, it's not some giant dragon or monster that's a massive undertaking to create. You also don't need to worry about scripting the animation either. I can handle that part. As far as compensation, there's 2 options: 1) Cold, hard cash delivered through PayPal (we'll discuss rates in private). 2) The barter system. I consider myself one of the more knowledgeable members of the GBAFE modding community. I also do maps. If you have a project that needs help in development (or want a tutor so you can learn for yourself), I'll put in whatever time is comparable to the time put into the animation. Since I'm offering money/my skills as compensation, you'll need to have some solid spriting chops. If you're interested in this project, send me some samples of past work and we'll talk.
  5. So someone challenged me to make a roman soldier in FE style and now that i'm working on it i think it would be cool to create a smallish hack, maybe 10 chapters. with Roman and Greek styled unit. Any Ideas? Here is my current wip if the soldier (I still need to work on shading and colors): Edit - Here is a sheet and animation for the Legionary: And here are some possible kingdom names for the hack:
  6. I've started making simple edits to battle sprites, and I've started with a simple edit of the Necromancer spell cast animation. This is what I have so far. I'm not much of an animator, so I'd like to test out what I have so see if I've made an error somewhere. Does anyone know of a program that can let me preview the animation? I tried using Piskel, but I'm working off a sheet I downloaded from FEplanet, and the frames are not parallel to each other. I'd rather not move the frames around individually and risk mucking up the sheet somehow.

  16. Does FE8 still have framework in place for certain characters to use alternate/personal sprites in battle? In FE7, characters like Lucius, Guy, Legault, and Lloyd all got different, personalized sprites in battle, but FE7 is the only GBAFE game that does this. I was wondering if the framework for this still exists in FE8's ROM, or if it would require ASM hacking to get it working.
  17. That's the original post... [spoiler=1st Edit]1/23 Awesome, sounding like we have a lot of interest in this... so I guess we'll get a contest up soon, in the meantime while I finalize/figure out rules lets have some thoughts on what the community would enjoy! The poll is now up to get a sense of what we'll try with Format and Topics/Themes... [spoiler=2nd Edit]1/24 ...and the thread/contest is up! Hope you enjoy! [spoiler=3rd Edit]1/27 added to the title, tribute to Aeo finally getting thru to my stubborn, sleep deprived ass to be more casual. :) CURRENT EDIT: 1/28 So, took out the first poll as we have the first contest up and going well. Second poll on themes/topics will stay. New poll added as there was some debate about how people wanted to be able to vote. ...so go vote, and discuss. Copy of the Second Poll: Topics and Themes, original votes. ...animations ended up getting some more votes after we put the first contest thread up. At the original time posted, animations did not have enough votes/interest to make it a category. I'd like to try and have a week focused on animations though. Think that'd be great to spice things up and develop those skills. :) ...OK, votes got borked due to Question 1 Poll being deleted. Poll 2 is still reading the old multiple choice votes despite now being a single choice vote now... UGH... Ok, rejigged it, Question 2 back in right place... Please recast your votes. Edit: so... First comp. Entry vote is up... Go vote! EDIT: ...2nd Comp vote is on! Go vote! 22. Mercenary Lord

    Creationz

New Stuff: Whoosh. Pew pew. An newer version of the captain sprite, with some bad shading but a better design. Ninja Potato. 'Nuff said. Gerald the Cavalier/Paladin. Two light icons. One has bad dithering. [spoiler=The Archives] This is where all of my super duper old stuff goes. Whoever the f*ck this is. My first splice, consisting of Raven's face, Joshua's awesome hat, and Heath?'s body. You love this, don't lie. My second attempt at splicing, only slightly less terrible. A 'younger' version of Oswin that I accidentally saved as a JPEG. Another attempt at splicing. Not successful. It was about this time I decided that mug-spriting was not for me. I changed focus, and went on to make... This. One of my first battle sprites ever, an attempt at the Third tier for the Hero class, the Vanguard. Isn't it gorgeous? It wasn't gorgeous. But I persisted. No terrible sprite was gonna tear me down! So, a few months later, I created THIS: Which was a definite step in the right direction, but I was still missing my mark. So I stopped for like six months and did nothing but do nothing. During my period of inactivity I came up with a bunch of little random thingies that were to small too really be called good or bad. Made this one to try and help a friend... Eventually, I felt like I should give spriting another try, so I did! [spoiler=Archives: Pt. 2] A bunch of equip-able item icons, as well as five 'card' icons. They're currently being used in FEPS. Then, I went on to make this: A almost fully completed sprite sheet for a riderless wyvern. I love this sprite sheet. BUT IT'S UNFINISHED. - And these are my latest creations. A Mercenary Throwing animation, because if you can throw axes and spears, you should be able to throw swords. These are the two main lords from FEPS, Jessica and James. * ELIWUSS IS NO MORE. Who needs a tiny baby sword when you can have this?
