  1. Hi, Today I'm thinking of why should I ever use Kaze when Jakob has way more utility, damage, skill access, pair up bonuses for Corrin, doesn't need Rinkah's support just to have a decent strength, has natural access to a mirror healing skill, tomebreaker to completely shit on tome users, base 6 movement, no movement restriction on desert tiles, better stat distribution including caps (dat -2 str mod really destroys Kaze forever in my book)...and he has 2 more levels to grow out of his bases (with better base strength and def than Kaze and a royal lead in luck at any point in the game), his major problem, speed, being solved by fixing a shuriken instead of a dagger on him and alternating between healing and debuffing/Killing to level up, while Kaze has only access to combat exp. What are your arguments in favor of Jakob or Kaze? Outside from Poison strike, which I already know of, is good, but better used by other units who can actually damage all the ennemy types, not only mages. This is an all routes contest, even if Jakob is the clear winner in revelations due to being overlevelled thanks to several more chapters of utility duty before Kaze joins/rejoins. I should add that in Rev I just put base Jakob with +hp/-res Corrin as his C-support backpack and he solo'd ch7 at base with an iron shuriken>steel shuriken, going the Northern path first to grab Gunter for the Western path, used Gunter instead of MU as Jakob's backpack (my Jakob has15 str and 18 spd instead of 12-13/14-15 at level 12 after this, but got -1 def and -2 HP), without any tonic other than the free HP tonic given in the opening maps. all this while keeping him as a butler, AKA one of the weakest physical classes in the game, both offensively and defensively (25 HP 9 def at level 12 ain't anything special, even the supposed 26.5/10 ain't very good). PEMN, but being able to do this from level 1 should mean something still, especially when you fight ninjas on about every portion of the map on top of cavaliers/archers/fighters/lance fighters/Knights and a few samurais who are totally not a problem.
  2. Hi, Yesterday I began a Conquest run with BR cast. The first thing that I did (even before knowing my +skl Corrin with decent bases in +res -mag from The Choice would be massively speed screwed) was to marry Corrin to Jakob and make him a spear master. Well, Jakob with seal def AND speed trivializes the game so much I have to disarm him in order to let other units do something. He's lv 12 and so awesome even though he can't double shit, it's insane. I'm playing normal classic for once (not ready to step up in hard classic, and the classic mode is mostly to kill any nohrian I recruit in order to keep most of the Hoshidan cast since unit number is limited. I think in hard I'd have to place more carefully (even if Jakob has 14 spd and 15 def with Corrin backpack not even counting Corrin's personal skill making it 17, and 9 or 10 res becoming 11 or 12), but seriously def and speed seals are completely broken, and Jakob still hasn't learnt lancefaire + elbow room (or shelter). My myrmidon Takumi is really good although he's being outclassed defensively by...Setsuna, of all people XD. My Oboro hasn't gained one level without proccing speed which is quite rare (usually she doesn't level speed in 3 levels and ends up as slow as Silas), but she didn't gain a sngle point of def at level 14. Kagero hits like a truck but I use a +1 bronze dagger (the run is a bronze only run, without forges except the dagger since it has garbage MT forever and the ninja class has garbage strength), but in her 1st 2 level ups she didn't level speed at all, I hope for a good speed level up 12>13 with spd+res. Of all of them, Jakob is really the best thanks to the seal combo and benefitting from Corrin support bonuses+skill, I dropped Silas at lv 10 (13 str 12 speed 11 def, not enough to take a spot, and I already field ninja rinkah to pick locks when Kagero is fighting for exp), I play Hinoka (if it was hard mode she would 3RKO the ennemies...12 str at level 14 is really hard to salvage (thank you for making mages squishy in normal mode, in hard she wouldn't even 1RKO them with bronze/iron). So, now I think you guys should really try and adopt Jakob spear master, who renders defense perfectly useless and nerfs ninjas into oblivion (also samurai Takumi since he's faster than his archer self and has enough accuracy + bulk to hit things with WTD and live after taking 1 or 2 hits just like Hinata while having more strength than him). Tell me when you've tried it and seen the results if the awesomeness of spear master skills in CQ, where tanks aren't tanky anymore. You can reclass him to pally then for better res and movement.
  3. Just a random question? Who is the most powerful unit in Fire Emblem, assuming level ups are (example): 10 level ups and a 50 strength growth = plus 5 strength growths. By stats and (if applicable) legendary weapons. I know Ryoma is very powerful but also, so is Lewyn, and even Hector. A list by game would be good to start before going in deeper. Gaiden = Echoes so use Echoes weapons/growths. Same for Shadow dragon and New Mystery.
  4. Which Fire Emblem cast of characters do you find to be the best and worst? Best Fire Emblem Cast for Me: I'd have to say Path of Radiance. The Greil Mercinaries are awesome. I would pick Radiant Dawn's cast too, but the Dawn Brigade kinda cripples RD's character quality a bit for me. Worst Fire Emblem Cast for Me: It's a tie between Awakening and Fates. I could not bring myself to care about any of the characters aside from 2-3 characters.
  5. I was considering running either a Dark mage, master ninja, mechanist, paladin, archer, cavalier, dread fighter or one of the knight(?) classes. I really have no idea; first file was a priestess with magic boon and luck or skill bane, it was decent as a support. For ref; female Corrin here!
  6. Even Sacred Stones is my fav game in the series, when you put all bias aside and look at it as a game in general, it's pretty meh to be honest. The story has one of the best villains in the series, Lyon, and other than the dual lord story, thats really all the game has going for it. The overall plot is kinda messy, but in a way where it still works but very oddly so. And may I mention that the game is EASY. Compared to FE 6 and 7, this game is a cakewalk and doesn't show any real signs of difficulty until really late chapters, where your team will be super buff anyways so it all cancels out pretty much. I beat this game four times and I can say, with certainty, that this is the best, worst Fire Emblem game.
  7. What are your favourite boss quotes from any fire emblem game? I'll start off with the obligatorary: 'Who do you think you are, you think you can stand up to Batta the Beast'- Batta, FE7, 2003
  8. This is just something I came up with to see what answers would come. Personally, I just wanted to start a flame war, but, y'know. Comment below whoever you think is the best unit in the series! I think it's Seth (Sacred Stones).
  9. Got a bunch of 3* heroes sitting at or above level 19-20. Not sure who is key to focus onto 4*. Other screenshot is the 4-5* lineup I have. This is my first time playing ANY FE game... I know... I know... Complete noob to everything, except Ike, Marth, and Roy-- I got to know who they were from Smash Bros lol. My current highest level team setup is 5* takumi,5* Lyn, 5*yTiki, and 4*Robin. This team is above level 35 with takumi at 38. I'm lacking something here (probably my own skills lol) and get erased from arena battles against Linde and dance using groups ?. Will any of these potential 3* heroes in my roster help my main team or will I have to form something a bit more balanced? I know I haven't mentioned my 4* heroes... I really really like fCorrin and Fae. But I feel like I'm not properly using them at their full potential. Help?
  10. Hello, I am completely new to FE and would like some advice. I have spent hours thinking of what would be the best team for hoshido (see image attached) to play this game on hard/classic mode. I am playing birthright so I have the chance to grind as this is my first game so I would like the option. After doing hours of research I have read that some characters/children are completely worthless which threw all my research out the window. I am looking for 4-6 attackers 1-2 defense characters and 2 magic users. I am about to loose my mind over this so any help will be appreciated. Thanks
  11. Basically which games do you think had the best and worst localizations? Personally I think Sacred Stones did. It's prose was good, the writing was solid, the translation was faithful and had some wit to it, and the gameplay tinkering was very minor and inoffensive. It goes under the radar in terms of good localizations but I think it's because it's so natural it makes you forget it was localized. Radiant Dawn had the worst imo. For starters, there's the debacle with the difficulty names. There's also the choice they made to use only the smaller script and not the larger one already in the game, which cut out a sizeable chunk of characterization, motivations, explanations, and world building. The script's translation itself was fairly good though. It probably got the most gameplay changes out of all the localized titles too. Some of them are for the better, like Edward and Leonardo's better bases and giving them plus Nolan their own prf weapons while others like the forging system are a mixed bag (and makes one of the base convos really odd since it references mechanics that no longer exist). It's a lot easier to get DB units up to par now since they can get their forges pretty early but it also allows for mass production of stuff like forged Hand Axes, which is absurd. Awakening is probably second worst in terms of changes to the script and the tone. Characterization is often exaggerated or even completely different from the original and rarely is it for the better. There's some good lines though.
  12. I don't play a whole bunch of other SRPG games, but I hear from other people that they're a bunch of grindy casual crap. What do you guys think? Is Fire Emblem the best? Or are we the casuals? And before you say TearRing/Berwick Saga, I'm counting those as FE games because that's not the comparison I'm trying to understand.
  13. What are your thoughts on how the Kalos Pokémon, and old blokes like Azumarill who got some new tools to utilize, will work out in the X/Y metagame? Talonflame I feel is definitely OU material. Gale Wings is just too amazing with priority Roost/Acrobatics/Brave Bird, and it helps that it also has Flare Blitz access as well as Bulk Up/Swords Dance. Stealth Rock blows, but at least it can Roost it off. Slurpuff is hilarious. Unburden + Sitrus Berry + Belly Drum is quite the combination. Though other than that hilarity, I think it'll be NU or RU. Contrary Malamar and Superpower, along with its awesome Dark/Psychic typing is definitely UU material. I'd list more, but I'm tired.
  14. Hey there, As a total nub to hacking, I'm pretty sure this is a really stupid question. Anyways, assuming that there are multiple hacking tools (Nightmare, FEXP), which is the best way for me to want to kill myself program to start with? I've heard terrible great things about Nightmare, not so much about FEXP though. I'd like to get into FE7 hacks, and already have Nightmare (original) and GBA downloaded. xoxo Gamewhorde
  15. I had this idea when I was walking over to the library. Since there are many drafts of various FE games, why not have a conpetition of just one Touhou game? It'd be fun to handle, and since it's my favorite Touhou game, fun for me to observe. Without further ado: Rules: 1. This competition will be solely in UFO, and the participants taking part in the draft are to showcase their skills in said game. 2. Participants are to use every shot-type in the following order: ReimuA, ReimuB, MarisaA, MarisaB, SanaeA, SanaeB. There will be a round for every shot-type that will last one week. 3. You may choose any difficulty you like: Easy, Normal, Hard, Lunatic. It's meant to be for fun! 4. Clearing the game gives you three points. First place gets five points, second place gets three points, third place gets one point, and last plac gets no points. 5. Going through the Extra Stage will net you five bonus points. ReimuA Results ReimuB Results MarisaA Results MarisaB Results SanaeA Results SanaeB Results Final Ranking: 1st: Proto: 40 2nd: Balcerzak: 39 3rd: Fera: 26 4th: Zak: 3
  16. ORAS is love. ORAS is life. First off, I'm kinda bummed out since now that I think about it, I don't think the game will have Emerald's storyline, which includes taking on both Team Magma and Team Aqua, and going through the Sky Pillar to tell Raquaza to make Kyogre and Groudon STFU. Though, I think the games will have Juan as the 8th gym leader, Wallace as the champion, and Steven to return as the Red-like challenge like he was in Emerald. Still, I can't wait to see what's going to happen. Seeing how Route 113, Mt. Chimney, Route 111 and the Mirage Tower, and pretty much the entirety of Hoenn in 3D graphics is hyping me up, and just imagining how the music will be remastered is adding onto that. So yeah. Let's all give out our thoughts in what's going to be in the fantastic duo of games.

  18. Kanto: Definitely Bruno. Such a badass. Lance is awesome, too. Johto: Read above, though I like how mysterious Karen is. Hoenn: DRAKE. SO BRO. Sinnoh: Bertha, I guess? Didn't like any of the E4 members of this region too much, though I do like Cynthia. Unova: Grimsley is pretty badass. I also like Caitlin. Kalos: SIEBOLD. SO BRO. Champions: Lance and Steven definitely. And as I've said before, I like Cynthia. Iris is okay, too. What about you guys?
  19. With X and Y coming out officially tomorrow, and it being Friday, I thought I'd share something funny with you guys. My old high school runs a broadcasting channel with a show called TGIF (or Thank God It's Friday), which is a show run by the students, for the students, and played every Friday morning. Long story short, several years ago when I was either a freshman or sophomore (can't remember), they decided to do a spoof on pokemon, and parodied the trainer's journey in Kanto which spanned over a few airings. They filmed in and around our high school area, putting together this parody with help from volunteer teachers and students. I recently rediscovered the parody on youtube, so I thought I'd post them here for anyone that would appreciate both humor and a good throwback to the days of Red, Blue, and Yellow. It's pretty amateur and silly, but I remember laughing my butt off when I first saw it in school, so I applaud the team that put this together, considering they probably didn't have the best filming and editing equipment available. I hope you have a laugh or two! Happy pre-launch Friday!!! ^_^ Unnecessary fun facts about my high school: 1. The person playing Professor Oak was my English Literature teacher, and my favorite teacher in high school. And yes, he really is named Lance. ^^ 2. The Carrmander joke refers to Mrs. Carr, the director of the ADV Dept, notorious for her death stare. 3. My old high school locker is one of the many visible in the Vermillion Gym scene. Not really important, but hey. All the videos are in order: http://youtu.be/HdTB8MDdRoc http://youtu.be/Opl-BqQES2M http://youtu.be/pi2js9gPbA4 http://youtu.be/3BG3UlFCKNQ
