This is kind of a dumb topic, but..... (There are spoilers here for any Game of Thrones softcore fans, so be warned.) Sigurd is Eddard Stark, and Seliph is Jon. What do I mean by this? Sigurd does a lot of things for the sake of honor, and doing what he thinks is right, and he gets manipulated by in the end by a man who loves his wife (Peter Baelish, although the circumstances under which Arvis loves Deirdre are vastly different), and dies at the hands of those he was trying to do the right thing for. Then his son comes along with very similar ideologies as his father, and aspires to his father, and wants revenge and justice for his father. He's not a bastard or not the actual son of the naiive father-figure here, but he's born to a woman who remembers nothing of her past life (the Deirdre Sigurd knew is practically gone), also Deidre was not supposed to fall in love with anyone, but she did. Julia is Daenerys? Kind of. She's Seliph's Daenerys in a way. She was born with full entitlement just like her cocky brother (Viserion is similar to Julius in this case). She has pretty white hair, she's related to a Dragon in that she uses the Book of Naga, and she probably ends up loving her brother from another father, Seliph. Or at least it feels like that could be so (Cipher Art and just the Ending of Genealogy). Also just to add to the uncanny mystery, Genealogy came out May 14, 1996 in Japan and the first A Song of Ice and Fire book came out August 1, 1996. Of course I'm not saying GRRM plagiarized a Fire Emblem game or anything like that, but I find the similarities are kind of profound. It's interesting to say the least. Maybe 1996 was just a year of epic fantasy tales featuring betrayal, sad endings, and incest (potentially)?

So given that a thread was made last year for Season 6, might as well make a new thread for season 7. I like both the books and the show(despite some questionable creative decisions on the part of the latter) and would gladly discuss any part of them. Also, if Jaime kills Cersei you heard it here first.

Note to mods: If you feel like this topic is better suited for the "Entertainment" forum, feel free to move it there. I wanted to start this topic ever since someone asked, "How would you compare the writing and story telling of Fire Emblem to say Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Orge?" However, I wanted to wait until I had a better understanding of both Fates' story and ASOIAF/GOT (I haven't read all the books, I haven't watched all the episodes, and I haven't played Fates or seen a transcript or Let's Play), but other things in life got in the way (I still don't have a complete understanding of either story), but with the impending Nintendo Switch presentation (and the possibility of a new Fire Emblem announcement), I feel like this might be my last chance to speak up before Fates is overshadowed by a newer Fire Emblem. Anyway, Nintendo seemed to really hype up the story in their marketing of Fates. If I recall correctly, in a Nintendo Direct, they said that Fire Emblem is known for its "complex story and memorable characters." When I think of a "complex story and memorable characters," one of the first things that come to mind is A Song of Ice and Fire, which seems to be the current "gold standard" for fantasy. I'm genuinely curious of what you guys think when Fates is directly compared against ASOIAF/GOT. The most important aspect of a story for me personally is the ending. I prefer a generally bad story with a satisfying ending over a generally good story with an unsatisfying ending, unless the bad story was exceptionally bad or the good story was exceptionally good. I don't really know the ending for any of Fates' three paths, but I can safely guess the ending for the Revelations path, Assuming Revelations is the canonical path, if my guess is correct, then Fates, in my opinion, has a satisfying ending. On the other hand, it seems like ASOIAF might be heading towards an ending where humanity is forced to shake hands and sing kumbayah with the white walkers. If this really becomes the ending for ASOIAF, then I'm going to be very pissed off. The white walkers have no redeeming qualities to deserve such an ending. Even the fucking Titans from Attack on Titan have more redeeming qualities (especially if you know who the Titans really are). One might argue that the white walkers have redeeming qualities that we don't know about yet, but my counterargument is that if GRRM really wanted us to have some sympathy for the white walkers, he would have shown us some redeeming or sympathetic qualities already. And the white walkers are even more villainous in the show than in the books. If GRRM follows through with a white walker kumbayah, then I hope David Benioff and Dan Weiss go down a different path and have Dany's dragons exterminate all the white walkers or something. I wouldn't be satisfied with anything less than the total annihilation of the white walkers, or their eternal banishment to another plane of existence (preferably a fiery Hell). "Well, what if GRRM simply wants to teach us the lesson that humanity is simply too weak to ever truly defeat the white walkers?" Well, I've already spent too much time talking about ASOIAF (and too little time talking about Fates), so instead of answering that question, I'll end it here.

So Game of Thrones Season 6 starts on Sunday and I thought this thread could be a cool thing to have if we wanted to talk about the show or the books. We can talk about favorite characters, predictions, reactions, theories, anything.

I haven't seen any Game of Thrones threads around the site, so here's one! I mean, Game of Thrones is pretty much Fire Emblem, but with tits and lots of death! What's your favourite major and minor character(s)? For me it's poor old Ned and Tyrion for major and Syrio Forel for favourite minor character. I legitimately want to know why this episode was rated so highly. I'm not saying this episode was terrible or anything (it was average), but best episode in the entire show? seriously? better than episode 9 last season? or episode 9 in season 2? or any of the episodes in season 1? It's got 9.9/10 on imdb for crying out loud!

how did brienne beat the hound in that fight? how come the only 2 evil lannisters are joffrey and tywin? of course, the rest of them are just misunderstood good guys now how come they wasted time on jon mourning over ygritte, when they could've shown more important scenes with stannis? how come i still hate daenerys targeryen? how come there was no lady stoneheart? to the people who liked this finale, you haven't read the books.

because the last one was so popular....... I'm enjoy this season at the moment. Sure there's some crap that isn't as good as the books, but overall I'm enjoying it. Way more than the likes of season 2 and 3. especially 2 ugh so yeah! anyone watching season 4 of game of thrones? edit: for fuck sake. not again.....
