  1. Maybe I'm slightly masochistic, but I kind of want to make my Pokemon competition debut with Pokemon Y... even though I haven't touched a Pokemon game in years. ._. Naturally, some pre-planning must be first! I'm not that fond of going into a game blind to be honest, and if I'm going to do this, I want to do it right, and I'd like some advice, if that's alright. Okay! Before I completely launch into it, there's a few ground rules I want to saddle myself with to make it interesting: The Pokemon available for consideration into the Ultimate Team must have a typing of either Dark or Ghost. Dual-typed Pokemon are fine, of course, as long as one of their typings are the required one. There can be ONE exception to the previous rule. So. Let's begin then! I totally need a better name for my team. O.O Possible Dark Types (Other recommendations are welcome!) Malamar (Dark/Psychic): The 4x weakness to Bug is a problem indeed, and it's also weak to Fairy attacks... but it does have an immunity to Psychic and handles everything else fairly well, so that's a bonus. It's also the only Psychic-type I can have that wouldn't count as an exception, which would eliminate the need to use Gardevoir or Meowstic for Psychic moves. Yveltal (Dark/Flying): Naturally, I have to include the legendary. Besides that, it's an utter beast with wings, from what I've been seeing. Psychic immunity is still lovely (is that just a Dark-type thing? I think so), although considering how everyone and their mother is going to spam the Fairy-type I may want to be cautious... Pangoro (Fighting/Dark): It's quite slow, yet, but it hits HARD. That 4x weakness to Fairy is going to hurt though, so I will definitely have to be cautious when using it if I do. It hits like a truck though. Greninja (Water/Dark): Greninja has quite a few resistances under its belt thanks to its typing, not to mention it's a FAST Water-type, which is unique and very helpful in its own right. A bit on the fragile side, and Dark's weakness to Fairy hurts quite a bit (not to mention the other weaknesses like Grass, Electric, Fighting and Bug) but all and all a very useful Pokemon... unless I'm proven wrong, of course. Absol/Umbreon (Dark): A pure-Dark type would be nice, if it benefits me of course, and I was torn between Absol and Umbreon. Absol is POWERFUL, my god, and as a Mega Evolution to boot. Compared to Umbreon, who unlike most Dark-types as a solid amount of defense. So I'm torn between a Glass Cannon and a Mighty Glacier. Hmm. Possible Ghost Types (Of course, recommendations are welcome here too!) Aegislash (Steel/Ghost): In addition to being in love with Honedge and its evolutions since the day it was announced, it's a defensive powerhouse in one form and a Glass Cannon in the other that's resistant to a LOT of various types and immune to THREE. That's amazing. It's... kind of guaranteed to be on the team really. <3 Chandelure (Ghost/Fire): It's a quite resistant Pokemon with a lot of Special Attack and decent Speed and Defense, which is nice. It's also immune to two types, and from what I see of its equippable TMs it has some nice Special fire attacks. Very handy indeed. Gengar (Ghost/Poison): Mega-Evolution, go. The only problem is that everyone and their father has this Pokemon, I've noticed, probably because of its advantage against Fairy-types. But strangely... Gengar loses its Ground immunity in its Mega-Form? What is this? I'm actually really confused by that... Trevenant/Gourgeist (Ghost/Grass): Trevenant is slow, but with decent defense and health, making it able to withstand quite a few hits. Compared to Gourgeist, who has higher defense, lower attack and higher speed (unless it's a Super sized one). It has quite a few weaknesses to cover for, so it's not the strongest option here and mostly is being considered because I'm a bit biased to both. Dusknoir (Ghost): The pure Ghost option. I was considering Cofagrigus but the lower Special Defense, defense and speed eventually turned me off, but if Cofagrigus is still the better option, I'll be willing to change this. Possible Exceptions (Still accepting recommendations, of course! Why am I still saying this?)K Klefki/Mawile (Steel/Fairy): A bit torn between these two... on one hand, Klefki is a well-rounded Jack of All Stats with a lot of resistance similar to Aegislash, while on the other hand there's Mega Mawile, with a rather nice Defense and Attack stat which is multiplied with its it Mega form. Hmmm. Sylveon (Fairy): To cover the possibility of my team getting wrecked by Fairy types, of course. Its Special Defense is quite nice too, and Moonblast is a force to be reckoned with, holy cow. I've seen it in action, it's quite devastating. Gyarados (Water/Flying/Dark): I wasn't sure where to put this one... since its Mega-Evolution removes the Flying type and switches it to Dark, which FITS, but only through Mega-Evolution. So I'm not ENTIRELY sure on where to put this one... Also... I have practically NO idea how Natures work and apparently that's extremely important... [/sigh] So. Um, advice on this would be MUCH appreciated, thank you!
  2. I'm familiar with effort values, but exactly what are individual values and how do I calculate them?
  3. so far it is generally pretty easy, however i am about to go into the 3rd gym and after battling that lucario duo i am scared, i mean the lucario duo was easy since i had high levled pokemon, like level 30 or 31 but that swords dance and metal sound, but yeah, how hard was or is pokemon x and y?
  4. so did x and y beat black and white 2, i don't think so so far, i guess the region is not really my thing, i prefereed unova, and for some reason i feel like they tried to hard to incorporate old pokemon, this is weird but it felt awkward encountering pidgey for the first time, but that is my thoughts what are yours?
  5. well i have xd and will get x and y tomorrow but which is better?
