  1. Ever since we got news that Three Houses would have a timeskip, I was curious about how well the game would give the impression that five years passed in gameplay, story, and presentation. Doubly so since while timeskips are nothing new in Fire Emblem, the only other game that really gave it as much focus was Genealogy of the Holy War. Since I finally managed to reach the timeskip portion of Three Houses yesterday (I like the game, but good lord does it take its sweet time at points. Juggling several other games at the same time didn't help), I am curious about how others thought it was handled and whether or not they got the impression that five years truly passed inbetween parts 1 and 2.
  2. I have been working on a builds 'optimizer' type calculator that can systematically and automatically suggest the best class for each character. It started as I was planning my team for a NG Maddening run, found myself kind of enjoying the process until I ended up where I am, with this calculator lol. So I thought I'd share some of the results to get some feedback and thoughts on my calculator. I don't know if something like this already exists so if you know of one please do let me know! MINOR SPOILER ALERT: All non-dlc classes are listed, including unique story-related classes that only get revealed as the story progresses. Let me start by explaining what this calculator does (or at least tries to do) and how it works. First it looks at the growth stats of a character and adds them to the growth stat of each class. In the sample images below, these are the values in the main part of the table listed under the stats. For each level of classes (Beginner, Intermediate, etc.) it highlights in yellow which class results in the highest growth for each particular stat, just an interesting visual aid. So far, this is purely raw data: char growth (stat) + class growth (stat) Next, I assign a rating for each class for that character. Here I've come up with a rating made up of two parts: It evaluates how closely the growths for a class align with the character's natural growths. This part takes into consideration that some characters can be more flexible than others. A value is also given to the character's strengths / weaknesses in skills that are certification requirements for each class. The two parts are combined to gain the final Class Rating. Without getting into the specifics of how the metric is calculated, it can be thought of as: [class-char fit] + [skills value] = [Class Rating] Obviously this method will not be perfect. Firstly it is based almost entirely on stats. Meaning it ignores valuable non-stat considerations such as potential hero's relics, character unique abilities, crests, etc. It also does not take into consideration the base stats of a character. One nice thing about including a value for strength/weakness in skills however is that when a character is strong in a particular skill it usually means they will also unlock useful unique abilities down that skill line, or that there might be a useful relic they will be able to use. So I like to think that some 'wisdom' finds its way into the [skills value] part of the Class Rating. That's about it. Below are some sample results from each house. If this calculator does its job well, then the higher Class Rating value, the better that class should be (theoretically) for the character. The way to understand the class rating is not that it is finding the best class for that character. Rather it is trying to identify the class that best 'fits' the character's strong suits. This is done by considering the organically strong stat growths a character has as well as the skills they are strong in or have a budding talent in. It says nothing however about how good the class itself is, what benefits outside of growth stats it might bring, or how the class might fit in a builds progression for the character. Inevitably there will be a few eye-brow raising results. I don't think a calculator can ever supersede common sense and experience, but I think it does a not so terrible job as it stands. Oh I should also add that Class Rating values don't compare across characters. Meaning if one character has a higher rating for a specific class than another character, it doesn't necessarily mean they are better in that class. It could mean they are a better "fit" for the class, but not necessarily that they will perform better. Thoughts in general? Any suggestions? Feedback? Do you know of a similar calculator / optimizer out there already? Is there an interest towards getting an improved version of something like this? One thing I think can improve in the Class Rating is to include consideration for base stats as well, just haven't figured out yet how to best incorporate that. I think that alone would fix some of the oddities. Thank you for your time. Clarifications: 1. This calculator does not consider the progression path of the character. Masters classes won't consider what you chose for the Advanced or previous classes, etc. Another area where common sense is needed. 2. Comparisons of classes are done only within the same class level. So the rating of say, a Paladin, is not compared to say a Wyvern Lord. Each class level's ratings are ranked separately. This is another area where common sense has to intervene.   3. would you like a student avatar in three houses with new gameplay mechanics. It could work in real time with student seeking your avatar and interacting with Byleth seeing them fully voiced.   4. I was wasting time indoors the other day and when listening to Yuri's supports something clicked for me. Dorothea's reasons for leaving the opera for the Monastery's Officer Academy always felt a little under explained by her. She wanted to find a husband she had actually bonded with, and follow Manuela after seeing she "made it" on the outside and didn't need the opera to thrive. But I also think Dorothea left because of the following: 1. Yuri is the boy from Bernadetta's past. The presumed cruel brutality visited on said boy made Bernadetta afraid of being friends with a commoner. 2. Dorothea reassures Bernadetta that she'll be fine. Having been targeted and survived kidnapping attempts (and worse) in the Opera. 3. Yuri, the same boy, in his support with Dorothea indicates that Dorothea was intensely desired by Nobles and since she refused to grant "access" to them would desperately seek out replacements 4. This would also explain why she was targeted. If she was willing to give the expected quid pro quo there would not be as strong a motive. And as time passed only more and more Nobles would likely be trying to take her for themselves or seek revenge for spurning them. While there's no confirmation of this connection it is an aspect of her past and decision-making that's often ignored, and the fact that the same character bridges these diffuse elements is at the very least a neat coincidence. I like it because it creates a strong reason for her to leave that she'd not want to trouble someone like Manuela with. Their support being a positive one about how Dorothea worked hard to reconnect with her surrogate mother. Makes it feel understated and subtle even if it otherwise would not be.
  5. I finally scraped together the money and the time to pick up the game everyone is raving about. I suppose I'll share my thoughts here. Update 1: Decided to join Golden Deer. I was always leaning towards Blur Lions of Black Eagles, so I decided to do the oposite in hopes that I'll get a more unique experience. Update 2: Grade A soundtrack. One of the better I've listened too. Update 3: The combat animations are great, although, I do miss the map sprites. Update 4: I like the monastery, its a nice new thing to break up the monotny between chapters. Update 5: I like the storytelling for every month with the Medieval style paintings. The armor is more historical too. Also, forgot to mention this, but in that prologue, Seiros was a bad*ss.

I went with a variant human with the inspiring leader feat, and a skill proficiency in performance of due to political speeches and canonically being skilled at dancing.Made her of a fighter with the eldritch knight archetype to represent her talent for martial combat and magic, with the great weapon fighting style.Chaotic good alignment (mostly basing this on the crimson flower Edelgard, I think it is appropriate because she wants to tear down an established system for reasons she thinks will benefit the people). Deity: atheist (will not follow deity and dislike organised religion)Picked the noble background for proficiency in persuasion and history.Her ability scores focused mainly on strength, charisma and intelligence in that order, with a bad ability score in wisdom (or being bad in the faith skill and making some questionable decisions sometimes)As for class proficiencies, I went with athletics and intimidation. I also picked up great weapon master as a feat on level 4As for personality traits, ideals and bonds, I went with the following:Personality Trait: Idealistic: while born of nobility, Edelgard doesn't look down on commoners, she is often compassionate towards others unless they stand in the way of her ideals Or pose a threat to other people.Personality Trait: Dislike of Traditions: Edelgard feels that many traditions exist only to oppress and control the masses and stand in the way of true freedom and equality.Ideal: Meritocracy: positions of power should be earned, not inherited.Bond: Evil Uncle: Edelgard's father was ousted from power, she was kept imprisoned by her uncle for years until eventually escaping.Flaw: By any means necessary: while highly idealistic, Edelgard doesn't shy any means in overthrowing oppression. If a few people need to be sacrificed for the needs of the many, so be it. Edelgard often prioritise her ideology over even her own lifeI do plan to role-play Edelgard as a rabble-rouser seeking to rally the common people against the nobility in order to establish a new and in her eyes a more equal society.   7. Hey guys, I’m creating ideas for a remastered version of FE Three Houses. I really want to improve on it’s mechanics more than anything. I would love it if we could incorporate new characters, classes and locations. Note: please do not include memes or replacing characters
  8. So there has been little definitive discussion regarding the mechanics of New Game +, specifically what carries over and what's newly available. Wanted to create this quick reference to pitch in what I've discovered so far and help shed some light where possible.Changes:Saint Statues: Right off the bat, the primary difference between a regular playthrough and an NG+ run is that the bonuses you have previously unlocked from upgrading statues are permanent and will carry over. They do not have to be re-purchased using renown, as it has been established that it is not possible to fully upgrade all four in a single playthrough. These upgrades will remain permanent for every subsequent playthrough, and will never have to be re-purchased so long as you are playing on the same File chain. The total amount of Renown required to fully upgrade all 4 statues is 40,000 Renown (10,000 each)The Ability to Purchase Previous Supports: You will have the option of purchasing Supports that you unlocked with characters in previous playthroughs as long as said characters are available to interact with. They are not unlocked by default once purchase, meaning they will need to be re-purchased in every subsequent run. As an example, my Blyeth attained an S-Support with Dorothea on my first run, thus it was possible to immediately purchase Supports from C-S for Dorothea on the first New Game + using Renown. On a second playthrough, if your Blyeth S-Supports a different character, say Edelgard, then on every future NG+ playthrough, both Dorothea and Edelgard will have their C-S Supports immediately available for purchase. The exchange rate for one level of Support is 400 Renown for every level, so one full S-Support is a total of 1600 Renown.The Ability to Immediately Upgrade Professor Level: It takes a total of 4500 Renown to fully upgrade to A+, which will allow Blyeth an immediate 10 Activity Points on each Explore day. It is NOT recommended that you fully upgrade right from the beginning, as doing so will prevent Blyeth from earning Renown from activities that would normally raise their Professor level, such as eating meals.The Ability to Purchase Skill Levels, Combat Arts, and Abilities: These need to have been previously unlocked on a specific character from a previous playthrough in order to be available for purchase, i.e., if a Felix from a previous playthrough attained an A+ Skill Level for Sword (regardless of which of the four routes you recruited him) you will have the option of immediately purchasing an A+ Skill Level as soon as you have Felix in your roster, much like Support. As with Supports, all previously unlocked Skill Levels, Combat Arts, and Abilities on ALL runs will be available on subsequent playthroughs, but the unlock will still be specific to the character (i.e. unlocking a skill for one character on a previous playthrough does not make that skill available for Renown purchase on another in NG+)All Previously Hired Battalions Remain in Inventory: Battalions that you acquired in previous runs will be immediately available in your inventory from the start of NG+. By extension, all battalions you had in your first and second playthrough will be available in your third, and so on. These are availble from the start, and do not need to be re-purchased.Shop Items: All unlocked Shop Items from your first playthrough will be immediately available on every NG+ run. This includes items that are typically stocked in limited quantity, which will still retain their monthly limit. Prices do not change for items, and specific shops (such as the Battalion Shop, Eastern/Western Market, etc.) must still be unlocked with their specific conditions (certain day, completing the relevant quest, etc.)Crests: Upon completion of your first playthrough, several Crest Items will be immediately available in the convoy for use. These have various in-battle abilities for you to use on subsequent runs as long as your character has it in their inventory. The specific crests allocated vary depending on choices made during your previous playthrough, although it is currently uncertain what specifically determines the Crests you are given.Appearance: You will be able to switch each character's outfit from their Student Outfit to Post-Timeskip Outfit. The three main lords also have an additional option of changing their hairstyle, should you so desire.Acquiring Renown:The amounts of Renown rewarded for typical activities are as follows:Quests on Exploration Days in the Monastery: 200-500 depending on questCompleting Battles/Quest Battles if Battle option was selected on Sunday: 100 per Battle if Blyeth is MVP (this does NOT include battles on normal mode that do not require Battle Points and can be infinitely farmed)Completing Monthly Missions: 100 per Mission only if Blyeth is MVPThat's all for now; will update as more is discovered along the way.
  9. First time poster to this place, long time visitor, so apologies for formatting. Anyways so I've been a fan of FE for a while now and recently got three houses and played it for maybe a week now and been just having fun and noticed something. So we are all aware of how Mounted units can't use Guantlets while mounted but am I the only one who finds it odd how the primary magic using classes in the game can't use gauntlets? So far only Nobles/Commoners, Dancer, Enlighten one, and Mortal savant are the only magic users who can also weild Gauntlets. Same goes for if you're trying to equip the unarmed combat skill, it'll let you equip it but you can't actually use your bare fist. Maybe later down the line we might get a DLC class, like maybe a Mystic or some sort of Martial artist class that can use magic kinda like a Brawling magus and what not?
  10. Indeed, what are they? It semms like they're linked woth dragonblood (like in FE4). Both Sothis and Seiros are certainly devine dragons (just look at their hair! - the same as Naga, Nagi, Tiki, Nowi, Nah, Duma and Mila). What is more, the crest of Seiros is eerily similiar to the mark of the exalt (that unsrprisingly gives the ability to use the Falchion). So: Did Sothis blessed Nemiesis and others with her blood (and maybe other dragons as well) to create these crests? What do you think? And how is the crest of flames/fire emblem connected to all this?
  11. I didn't know if this fell under general questions or not? considering it's a question about in-game mechanics. Anyways I haven't been able to find the answer to this question anywhere and I've been super curious as to whether Three Houses uses single, double, or even hybrid roll systems for rng. Or maybe even a new system? I was going to rule out hybrid roll, but then I learned it was also used in SoV which surprised me. So if anyone knows the answer and can put my curiosity to rest it'd be greatly appreciated. ❤️

  14. I am trying to recruit Caspar to my house, by getting his support up until he joins, but his B rank says, that I have to wait until a certain point. Can anyone tell me after which chapter a rank up will be possible?
  15. Three Houses has captured my heart, and also has likely even landed a spot in my top 10 games of all time. It’s been the first game in a while that has completely sucked me in and caused me to lose track of time, so after finishing my first play through, I decided to make a thread here for discussion. Characters are fantastic with tons of depth. They all have distinct personalities that clearly change as the characters mature- for example, Bernadetta from the black eagles. My first play through was the Edelgard vs. Seiros route, so as you can imagine, I got pretty close to lil Bernie. In Part 1, she’s nearly impossible to understand and even annoying at times because of her nervous nature. But when Part 2 hits, it’s obvious that she’s matured, as the majority of her sentences are complete and without stuttering. Furthermore, the characters’ individual philosophies and ideals clash and mesh with each-other to complete the narrative of house vs. house, and classmate vs. enemy. I genuinely felt like crying once or twice when I was forced to kill units that I’d bonded with but failed to recruit (or couldn’t recruit because of story route). Saddest part imo was the dialogue betwee my recruited Felix and enemy Sylvain. Sylvain was the only guy character outside of my house that I had ever interacted with apart from Felix, so that combined with the incredibly sad dialogue and atmosphere of the battle and music just got to me. And the hardest part is still to come, because I have to do another route and may have to kill the units that I bonded with over an entire playthrough. Details in units and dialogue that add complexity and truly build the world are what makes this game shine for me. The devs clearly wanted to make sure that units felt like human beings rather than just characters in a game. I’d like to hear everyone else’s thoughts as well

  18. So something I immediately noticed during the gameplay we've gotten featuring Byleth and the Sword of the Creator features the sword with 20 durability. Yes, 20. But, I felt that was way too low for a legendary sword, and the amount they used this weapon in gameplay. So here's what I think: The weapon will have 20 durability. The weapon durability decreases the same as any weapon. The weapon still breaks, but here's the catch. I think the weapon will return to its original 20 durability (even if the weapon did not break) after the battle/chapter. If this is true, It'll be interesting how it will play out. And if I'm wrong then, this weapon is pretty much a weapon you'll just be carrying around in your inventory for most of the game and rarely taking it out. However if I'm right, it'll be pretty broken with it's Might and range. But you can't just solo with the weapon basically. TL;DR: I think Byleth's weapon will regen it's durability after the battle.
  19. I'm not very sure myself on who it might be. I want it to be the church but my gut tells me it will be opposing countries. I want to hear what you think about this considering it has been one of the most confusing thing about these trailers imo.
  20. We have yet to see a reference to the facto leaders of the three main lands, i.e. the relatives of Edelgard, Dimitri and Claude. This made me wonder: when war does break out, what will be their role in the story? Will there be a large enough time-skip that allows for the three house leaders to start governing their lands? Or will they be forced to fight each other under the orders of their superiors? It should also be interesting to see how each of the rulers operate since we have different approaches to power: an empire, a kingdom and an alliance.
  21. Bottom right does not look like Garrech Mach Monastery. I feel it would act a lot like FE Echoes' dungeons. Best possibility for the game in my opinion would be open world but I doubt it. But (!) they did spend an obscene amount of time on the game.
  22. So like the title said, I had a dream-a very strange dream. I dreamt that I was watching this youtuber who was watching a Nintendo Direct and this one was showing a new trailer for Three Houses. In it, the main villain was Cell, the guy from Dragon Ball Z, and apparently he rules (?) the kingdom that Claude comes from (I think it's Leicester). He also decides to build a castle that looked exactly like Ganondorf's in Ocarina of Time and I guess he was created by some king. Then my dream got reader because I saw the cast of That's So Raven, Tracer from Overwatch who took the place of Eldegard, and some lollis. I also saw people who looked like they were from the kingdom of Muspell in the game as well as Donny from Harry Potter. After that, I woke up. Oh and I also saw free roaming like in Echoes so that's it. I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I thought I'd share it with you. Oh and if this turns out to be in the game, I totally called it.
  23. So, I first posted this on a thread seconds after e3, but I thought I'd make a proper post here. I photoshopped the map of three houses in the trailer, and the map of the tellius games together for comparison, and well well well. Don't they look similar, huh? In the three houses trailer, the blue country is right where crimea is, the yellow is where daein is, and the red is where begnion is. The only thing missing are the laguz. Also, it shows a continent next to the main one. This baffled me for a while, until I realized...... In the tellius games, they spoke of a flood that supposedly wiped out every continent except tellius. Meaning, that'd explain why there is a continent next to the main one in the three houses trailer. I highly think this is a prequel to the tellius games! And if so, I'm so so so so hyped for it!! My elderly mother watched me play path of radiance and radiant dawn years ago, and when I showed her the trailer for three houses, her first response was: "Where are the animal countries?" Anyways, I want to know what you guys think. What are your thoughts about all this? Do you agree, or disagree? And if so, why is that?
  24. After looking at the trailer, one thing that how my attention was in the battle forecast. Where the enemies had crit rate ranging from 2% to 5%. The difficulty is unknown, but a game where potentially enemies have a small change to crit is going to make me reset time to time. The only other Fire Emblem game where I believed this occurred normally was in FE5. Perhaps luck will be a more valuable stat this time around?
