First of all, this story takes place in a world called Arosen. Almost everyone in Arosen has someone to protect him...These people come in many different forms, from animals, to people of all different kinds. Sometimes, they are not even alive. For example, they could appear as a gun, or another weapon. But one thing they all have in common is the fact that they all have special powers. These things...They are called Vigilles. (He hangs up) Brandon: What was that about? Aran: It was Ethan. His Vigil was destroyed, and he expected me to give him sympathy. Brandon: Ha! You? Yeah right. Aran: Anyway, I might skip school tomorrow to avoid the waterworks... ???: Oh no you won't! Aran: Mom?! Didn't you just leave to go shopping? Mom: Yes, but I forgot my money. If I get another call about you skipping school again, you are going to get grounded for months! Aran: I'm already grounded for four of them. Brandon: Yeah. At least give him a day of freedom before you add more time on. Mom: Brandon, I'm sorry dear, but I'm going to have to ask you to leave. Brandon: No problem, Ms. Carin. (He exits the house) Mom: Aran, I don't think you're EVER going to your friends' house again... Aran: *sigh* Fine. I'm going to bed...(He walks upstairs to his bedroom) Aran: Rin... Rin: Yes? Aran: I need to get out of this house... Rin: Aren't you allowed outside at all? Aran: Not really. And as my Vigil, it's your job to help me get out. Rin: I don't think that was part of the deal... Aran: It's not like there was a contract. Rin: Er..Um...So, I heard that Ethan's Vigil was destroyed. Aran: Yeah. Rin: It was a dagger, right? Aran: Yeah. It was a really strong one too. It's a shame that it was destroyed. Rin: Yeah... Aran: Is there any way that YOU can die? Rin: Well..yes...But it'd be hard. A Shaman would have to seal me away into an object, burn it, and then scatter the ashes to make sure that I never come back. It's a pretty tedious process. Aran: I bet... Rin: Don't you have homework to do? Aran: Yeah, but...*whispering* I'm gonna skip school tomorrow. I don't need Ethan crying at me the whole day.
