Thank god. ^^

IIRC, Jyosua talked to a lot of people when the site blew up including me, here i thought i was special ;-; Why did I mention this? Just in case people wanted to hear more testimonies.

But anyways, I don't see how SF benefits with the unbanning of certain members. Truthfully, I wouldn't care if they stayed banned, but whatever...

EDIT: You actually know what the worst thing that happened to this site was? Merging with FESS. I can say that the place that existed before, a lair free from elitist pricks and full of n00bie posters was a lot better than the way it is now.

But you've got to look at it from both angles, here; now that we're here, many of us have had to deal with sanctimonious douches like yourself.

Now, I'm not usually like this, but there's really only one proper response to that...

PWN'D.

I have a question.

Is trolling really that bad?

Edit: An entire 3 minutes without a response must mean that everyone figured out that saying trolling is a terrible terrible offense is stupid.

Edit: 6 minutes. Damn, I feel awesome.

Well, that's half the point I'm trying to make...

/watches too many scifi movies

err, just because I feel productive!

Yeah, lets just sit back and watch while some jackass runs around screaming at the top of his voice and insulting the daylights out of people while throwing curse words and references to reproductive organs or sexual orientation into the statement at regular intervals. that looks good for our community.

Can we cut the hurrdurring? Please? Some of you people have been repeating the same shit over and over and you still don't know what you're talking about.

The point is they've been unbanned. End of story.

I don't care for the actual reasoning for the ban, Blacken should remain banned.

If his attitude towards the members wasn't what got him banned, then it should definitely be what prevents him from coming back.

I've slept, and this topic is still unlocked, allowing people to continue arguing over something they have no control of?

Well, fuck. I'm going back to sleep.

Well, fuck. I'm going back to sleep.

I for one, am glad the topic is still unlocked. The fact that an announcement thread typically ends up being locked within 24 hours should speak volumes about the problems that exist within some of the memberbase of this site. Not everyone lives in the same time-zone, and all-too-often I find that an interesting thread, that I may have had intelligent points that I wished to contribute to, had been started, flamed in repeatedly, and consequently locked, all before I ever got a chance to even look at it, much less make an opinion, formulate a response, and submit a post on the matter.

That said, as for this particular pot of forum drama, I don't think I really have anything specific to say which hasn't been said by at least someone at one point or another, save perhaps one. What ever happened to suspensions? Do those just happen without general knowledge, and get quietly forgotten, or do things always leap from "acceptable member" to "permanently banned"? I seriously think that perhaps if suspensions were made more frequent use of then making compelling arguements towards the banning of a particular member would become irrelevant, and perhaps later I will be arsed to write up and submit this as a well thought-out proposal via the ticketing system.

The only things in the rules explicitly mentioned as resulting in a ban are:

  • "Being suspended multiple times is grounds for consideration to be banned. Especially if your total suspensions add up to more than 2 weeks."
  • "An infraction of the rules, if severe enough, can warrant a suspension in it's[sic] own right, or even a ban."

though of course, the prohibition against multiple accounts, illegal material, and pornography most likely can safely be inferred to warrant one as well (though the second one might more properly dealt with by suspensions as well, or perhaps something similar to a GEOS, which SF doesn't seem have an equivalent of).

From this point there are two schools of thought:

Bannings should follow and proceed from the rules, as laid out.

Bannings are fine as long as the ends justify them.

I fall into the former, some people here clearly fall into the latter. The bans being reversed here (as well as the one that isn't), appeared to have been wholly governed by the latter. I for one am glad of the reversal, as it indicates a willingness to return to the former, and the rule of law forms the basis for any well-functioning society, internet-based or no. That said, it is still ultimately the purview of the administration.

Seriously, TheEnd, as much as it may seem like it, I don't actually hate you, but you get butthurt beyond belief when someone even mentions Christianity in a slightly negative light. And you other guys too, you really are being a wee too sensitive here.

I do. I'm very sure I'm not the only one, and I'm not wrong for feeling butthurt over that kind of thing. Listen: it might sound ridiculous to you, but the repeated God-bashing potentially hurts any true Christian on a fundamental level. And since nobody but Jarly was preaching Christianity (... lolJatly), I don't see why you must attack it.

(I'm not talking about lolcorruptchurch, pedophile priests and whatever; that doesn't matter. Imaginary friend talks, though? Yeeeeeah, you're supposed to keep that kind of thing to yourself. Blacken could. You probably can too.)

If you wish, I could enter full butthurt mode and start reporting whenever I see it happen. It's a diffuse insult after all, I'm sure the staff will pay attention to it. It's a kind of behavior that builds nothing but hostility.

That, however, isn't my point. You don't see me complaining about Shuuda or Crepe Knight, do you? That alone doesn't make me call someone a troll or anything.

The rule of law, as it works in real-life criminal law, has been repeatedly proven to be ineffective in a private internet forum environment.

It's funny how just days ago when those who disagreed with the rules and asked for transparency piped up, they were beaten back by the statement "If you don't like it, go somewhere else." It is a remarkable irony now that I have the opportunity to use that same statement against people who are now bitching about how unfair it is when people pile on religion.

I predict this thread will be closed in fewer than two pages now.

Debates are the devil.
Debates are one thing, but to really bash Christians because of such debates is another, as well as the fact that I ended up reporting a post where a picture of Jesus on the cross was used as part of a joke (and as a result, Fox's thread on report abuse).

I already stay out of religious debates. I don't need to see people mock Christians just to show off how cool or funny they are.

Except that the things I don't like are against the rules...!

If you think insulting someone's religion doesn't breach the Forum Attitudes rules #1, 3 and/or 4... well, lol.
