I'm almost sorry to say it but you forgot Canada, Cuba (there are unconfirmed rumors some of the missiles from the Cuban Missile Crisis were ICBMs and of them, not all were accounted for by th Soviets), much of the former Soviet Union (aside from Pakistan, though most of their silos are considered Russian Territory for security reasons), Australia, South Korea (we have 'em some when North Korea confirmed they made one), Egypt and Iran.

Funny thing about Iran: According to Saddam Hussein, the reason he treated his people like shit, atttacked Kuwait and said he had WOMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction) was because he was afraid of the Iranians' Payload. Of course, the asshat waits until he's tried for war times to basically say "Yeah, sorry America. Both Gulf Wars were totally avoidable but I was too proud to admit I was scared shitless of the Iranians." Another interesting fact: Iraq is home of the Ancient Babylonian Empire (only lasted 2 generations). Iran is home of its successor, the Ancient Persian Empire (King Darius slew Neduchadnezzar's son, who succeeded him in Babylon). Back then, the fastest way to gain a lot of new territory in a hurry was to conquer the current ruling Empire. If you know your history, Alexander the Great united the Greeks under one banner to conquer the Persian Empire. After his sudden death, the Romans took over while the four provinces created after his death weakened the Greek Empire.

I can't help but wonder now: If the Iranians indeed decided to repeat history and invade Iraq (and at the time the US was allied with both countries), would Greece and Italy follow? Considering that of the four countries, Iraq has Chemical Weapons and Iran has nukes, I'm glad I don't live in that part of the world!

We already know that. The world is a giant rock, it'd take something enormous to take it out. Like a Death Star, the death of the sun, a wandering black hole, or an equally large rock, thrown by a guy with a great arm. Killing off humans is a lot easier though, and even though that could happen by 2012, or even 2011, I don't think we'll ALL be dead. 99.9% tops, excluding any Nasa employees working in space at the time.

Well, the only "questionable" thing I believe in is the existence of god...

That said, I don't believe this idea at all (To be honest, I never understood why Y2K would "end the world", wasn't it something that involved the computers going haywire when they hit the "2000" reset 97-98-99-00 etc... on the clock? I failed to see how that would cause any major issues.)

Even if some catastrophe happens, I wouldn't fear it. You can't do shit about it, so no point in trying to do anything over it, just go out in whatever way pleases you (Partying, spending time with loved ones, playing games, destroying property, whatever the hell you enjoy).

Super Nova (Nough said)

Nuclear War (The onset is unimportant, the only issue is that everyone dies)

A Time Paradox (Caused by stupid teenagers jumping through time)

God giving up on us (Just hits the off button and everything just goes black)

Now these are just "By the year 2012" scenarios. There's at least a hundred different ways for mankind to go extinct, these are just the quicker ones that can fit into the 2012 timeline. Most others would take a little too long. Personally I'm leaning towards the nukefest since those are already on Earth. It's not like we have to worry about "what's out there" we've got plenty here to f*ck ourselves with.

Except through spectronomy we can calculate the exact relative speed of other stars and galaxies and make a pretty accurate prediction for when such an event might happen (scientists don't just pull these numbers out of their ass you know).

However, the ultimate fate of the universe is largely dependent on how much dark energy is in the universe, which is noted for its role in expanding space, and for constituting about 74% of all energy in the universe. If there is not enough dark energy in the universe to facilitate the expansion of space, then there will be the eventual "big crunch" of which you speak. If there is just enough, then the universe will slow but reach equilibrium at some point, allowing the limitless existence of the universe. However, the most likley case from recent observations is that there is in fact too much dark matter in the universe, explained by the fact that not only are all the galaxies in the universe moving apart, but they're accelerating, moving apart faster than ever before. Oh yeah and I heard about all three of those possibilities:

The big squeeze(my term: Universal collapse. Not preferred to be honest.

The big nothing(my term): Universal Stability. Boredom.

They all kinda suck, but I guess that's reality. Truth is though, I don't care about any of these things because I'm not going to see any of them with my own eyes anyway. I'm more worried about "today". What could kill us all "today"?
