Welcome to my Neo Sealed Sword HM playthrough. This will serve as a replacement for the last abomination, and as a break from my boring FE8 playthrough.

Here are the rules I set up for myself:

-No arena abuse.

-Hard Mode.

-No deaths. If someone dies, restart the chapter.

-Ideally get a decently low turn count(or S-rank, whichever comes first.)

The Players:

Also, no trolls. No one likes them, and neither do I.

And for the love of God, if you are going to post here, make sure it is productive and on topic. And if you are here to attack my sense of humor and my unit choices, don't.

-Done.

Chapter 1: Dawn of Destiny

Starting Units:

Roy, Lance, Alan, Bors, Wolt, Marcus

First chapter of the game. Do not hesitate to use Marcus, as he is extremely crutch in this game. Also, most of your dudes won't last more than 1 hits(Bors can take 2 hits, but gets doubled half the time.)

[spoiler=New Characters]

Roy: He's similar to Eliwood, as in lackluster base stats and only average growths. Use him if you want, but he has a LOOONG way until he promotes.

Marcus: The obligatory Jeigan. Very crutch for the first 8 chapters or so, but becomes more and more useless as the game goes on thanks to really bad growths. Too bad Seth's not in this game.

Alan: Like Sain, he has a strength edge on the other cavaliers. Unlike Sain, his atk win isn't as crushing. He's somewhat slow at first, but you can easily give him a speedwing.

Lance: Like Kent in that he has a speed edge over the other cavs, and crushes Alan in that department like forever. His strength is usually borderline on average enemies, but a quick Alan support can alleviate the problem somewhat.

Wolt: Some green-haired guy with a bow. Which means he sucks. 10atk/5AS/18HP/4def/12avo is a big joke.

Bors: A slow moving guy with unimpressive bases and lackluster growths in crucial stats for armors. The guy's made to be a tank, but with most of the fighters doubling his ass for 7 damage a hit... I don't think so. Still better than Woot.

I sent all my units eastward, making sure Bors was out of the range of the 7AS guy(I actually got lucky with fighter AS on this map, as only 2 of them have 7AS.) On the enemy turn, Bors, Marcus, and Alan trade hits with the fighters. On turn 2, I take out the guys that my units helped weaken, only to get punished some more on EP(Alan killed a fighter.), then I have Marcus chip the archer for Lance, while Bors kills the fighter that attacked him last turn. On turn 4, I managed to kill the bandit with Alan, while sending Wolt to the village(he's not that useful anyway. Go fig.) Turns 5 and 6 consisted of clearing out fighters, with Lance, Alan, and Bors gaining level ups in the process. I lured in the rest of the fighters in on turn 7, then had Roy and the others kill off the fighters(Lance got the kill on the archer), while Marcus attacked the boss. After some more chipping, Alan got the bosskill, allowing me to seize.

For the most part, my dudes are doing alright. Roy, Alan, and Lance got some good level ups, which is always nice. Bors could've gotten a better level up though.

Chapter 2: The Princess of Bern

Starting Units:

Roy, Alan, Lance, Bors, Wolt, Marcus, Ellen

New Units:

Dieck, Ward, Lot, Thany

This chapter isn't too hard, considering that you get a healer, and healers are always nice to have, even if they only heal 11HP per charge(granted, it was worse in FEDS). Also, you will get 4 new units, most of which will be useful.

[spoiler=New Characters]

Ellen: Your standard healer. Really nice res for this point in the game, and good magic growth, but an awful base stat in that area. Also, her HP/def is among the worst in the game, with only Clarine, Lalum, and Sophia having worse HP. Still, healers are nice.

Dieck: One of the best characters in the game IMO. With his manly str, he can 2HKO most enemies with an iron blade alone, and he can usually ORKO while retaining good durability. He does slow down a bit later on, but he's still good.

Thany: Some fail-whore on a pegasus. She's good for standard flier duties, but should be ditched after better fliers arrive.

Ward: He's strong and has an HP glut, but that's about it. He has unforgivable speed in a game with faster enemies, and really isn't that durable.

Lot: Same as Ward, but replace durability issues with atk issues. A warrior with the same str growth as Rutgar?! Are you fucking joking?

I sent Bors and Lance to kill the two soldiers just south of my starting position, then position my other dudes to form a mini-wall. Tent obviously went to get the Rapesarmors. I then have Bors and Wolt chip a fighter(with Bors being the guy on the fort.). I then sat Dieck Cheney on the fort and watched him nearly solo the entire east platoon(like a REAL man should.) On turn 3, I killed the fighters with Roy and Alan, while having Thany pick up Bors and Lance taking Ellen away. I then dropped Bors off next to Dieck and took out the remaining(aggressive) enemies. I then moved up on turn 5, luring in the remaining enemies with Dieck and Bors. I also used this time to get a few cheap kills for Roy and Lance. On turn 9, Thany gave Dieck the Rapesarmors, which he used to smite the boss, allowing Roy to cap on turn 9.

Nice to fucking see that Dieck gained two levels. He's awesome; I recommend him to anybody playing FE6. I'm also liking that Roy's str, though the fucker hasn't gained speed yet. Why does this keep happening to me? Bors is also looking as good as ever, though I'm pissed that he didn't get spd this chapter.

Chapter 3: Late Arrival

Starting Units:

Roy, Alan, Lance, Bors, Wolt, Marcus, Ellen, Dieck, Ward, Lot, Thany, Chad

New Units:

Lou

Hardly an improvement from Normal mode, the only difference being that the enemies actually pack some muscle. Still, loldiers suck and the armors are little better. Plus you have a guy(Marcus)that spits in their faces basically forever(by forever, I mean until after the Western Isles). I also have this guy named Bors who never dies(not to be confused with the Bors that sucks in HM.)

I send my units towards the castle interior, except the axe dudes and Woot, who took a detour to get Shota. On turn 2, I kill the two loldiers with my cavs and have Dick kill the archer. Bors then CONSUMES another loldier. After Roy chips a loldier on the EP, A+L kill the douches, then I do practically the same thing on turns 4 and 5(now, I know that Roy isn't exactly the best person to frontline with, but as long as I check and heal accordingly, he can reliably chip things for other, better characters.). Meanwhile, Ward and Lot finished killing their loldiers, and Lot lured in an archer for Thany to kill, finally recruiting Shota on T6. The reinforcements weren't too bad, deciding they needed to actually get to me on T6. Anyway, I used these clowns as free EXP, though it took me 3 more turns to actually get out of that corridor, as Bors was cockblocked by a cav and a loldier. I then send Marcus and Chad towards the chest room, while Dieck, Bors, and Roy deal with the rest of the trash outside. Bors then killed the last of the reinforcements and Dieck finished off the boss, allowing Roy to seize on T14.

Ellen got defense on her first level up. lol. And why Dieck loves to not get speed is beyond me. Thankfully, he has 13str, so he has an excuse. Or not, depending on how screwed he gets, causing me to bench him and use OJ.

Marcus actually got a decent level up. Always nice.

Oh, and please give me some proper feedback if your in the area. And for the record, I'm not too far behind dondon's turncounts(the only difference between him and me is that I use growths and he doesn't)

Chapter 4: Collapse of the Alliance

Starting Units:

Roy, Marcus, Alan, Lance, Bors, Wolt, Dieck, Wade, Lot, Thany, Ellen, Lugh, Chad

New Units:

Clarine, Rutgar

God I hate this chapter. The game throws a bunch of mounted dudes at you, and it's a total nightmare on hard mode. Also, the Nabarl archetype dude joins. Oh and give the halberd to either Ward or Lot. I recommend Lot since Wade's speed and durability are ass.

I sent my entire army southwest, using Bors and Marcus to chip at enemy cavs. On T2, I had Lugh and Wolt gang up on a cav, killing it with Roy. I then lured more cavs in on T3, using Lance and Bors as EXP fodder, though Ward got his ass kicked on the EP, then Clarine talked to Roy, joining us. I killed off the rest of the cavs in my general vincinity, then had Thany visit the town for a steel blade. By now, more cavs had started to charge us, so I moved my party south, and placed Bors in the combined ranges of the three hooligans. Unfortunately, I had to step back a little more, as I had my units deal with pirate reinforcements. While Rutgar did show up on T7, Clarine was too far away to reach him, so I had to move back a bit further, though I was able to reach and recruit him on turn 8. I kill off 3 pirates on turn 9, while I sent the rest of my group down to face Erik.

I killed off the two archers using Dieck, then I had Marcus beat up the boss for a bit before using Dieck and finally Bors to kill Eric. Had I stayed any longer, someone on the other side of the map would've died.

Is it just me or did Rutgar get the EXACT same HM bonuses and first level up? Also, Bors is morphing into Oswin. Or at least a shittier version of Oswin, considering 10str isn't what I exactly want on a Lv8 armor knight, though 6 spd will go a long way to not being doubled.

Oh yes, if you have something to say, please say it! Any feedback would be appreciated. Not that I want attention. And note that I AM playing efficiently.

Chapter 5: Fire Emblem

Starting Units:

Roy, Marcus, Alan, Lance, Bors, Wolt, Dieck, Wade, Lot, Thany, Ellen, Lugh, Chad, Clarine, Rutgar

This chapter is fairly easy if you mostly stick to sword users. Weaker units are at your own risk. Also, the Killer axe douchebag is back, this time with 19-20 str. Do not fuck around with this guy, otherwise, you are going to see multiple death quotes.

Note: Do not do what I am about to do unless you have uber tactical skillz. Or if you have a def blessed Bors like I do.

I split my party into two groups; one division going to the village to get the Gant Lance, and the second to intercept the huge-ass amount of enemies near where Dory is. I used a rescue chain to put Rutgar's ass on the fort so the fighters wouldn't take it(which worked out in the end.). Next turn, Bors opened the gate after chipping a brigand, then he and Dieck formed a wall against the enemies here(note that Dieck CAN tank here, as even though he has a little over half Bors' def, he still has a nice amount of HP to take hits with.), and Alan and Lance killed two fighters that Rutgar had weakened previously. On turn 3, Bors and Dieck helped take out a merc, while Rutgar, Lance and Alan were busy killing fighters and a merc. On turn 4, after Dieck was brought down again, I had Marcus lob a hand axe at the mage then killed it with Bors, while I kept killing fighters on the eastern side. After killing more things on turn 5, and basically going into overtime healing with Ellen, I managed to reduce the enemy count on the western front to just the nomads, which took me 3 turns to remove completely as Dieck has no 1-2 range and Bors 3HKO's them and doesn't double(though he takes a laughable 0*2 damage from them). As for the others, Rutgar kills a fighter and a merc before Thany picked him up so he could deal with the boss, which he did on turn 12.

Thank god Roy is not being a dumbass and not getting screwed in crucial stats. It doesn't mean a damn thing when he's mediocre to begin with. Of course... Fun fact: A lot of GFAQ's writers claim that Roy suffers from shitty lord syndrome(also known as fuckballs.). Sadly for us, Marth, Leaf, and Eliwood also fit under this archetype.

And Clarine still hasn't gained much in the way of levels. Stupid plum-coat wearing bitch.

Kindly check your CH4 and CH5 logs...

Your Clarine seems to have lost 1 HP... I see a typo....

Anyways... nice seeing most of your characters getting good level-ups... Say... are you gonna take Ilia or Sacae route?

The log on Ch4 was a typo. Clarine has a 15 base in HP. I must have been confusing her with Ellen.

As for the route I'll be taking, it depends on whether I decide to use Shin and Fir or Tate and Klein. I chose these two pairs because every person in these pairing gets Hard mode bonuses as well as the fact that the pairings can support each other, and because Thany is basically an inferior Tate combat wise(same with Sue playing 2nd fiddle to Shin.)

Basically, if Shin/Fir is chosen, I will go to the plains. If Tate/Klein is chosen, I will go to the snows.

I will likely put up a poll again, because I can't help myself to decide right now.

If you are wondering why I haven't been posting for over a week now, it's because my computer has accumulated 38 viruses, Trojans, spyware, etc, and I can't use it until it has been debugged completely. So sorry for the inconvience.

I need to stop going on porn, because it may be the contributor to my virus problem.

EDIT: I'm back in the saddle. I'll be posting again soon enough. Chapter VI is next.

Chapter 6: IT'S A TRAP!!!

Starting Units:

Roy, Alan, Lance, Bors, Dieck, Rutgar, Ellen, Clarine, Chad, Thany, Saul, Dorothy

New Units:

Sue

Not Joining:

Cath

Still not that hard, except for the boss, who now has 12 AS(and the reinforcements, but do I care?). Do not expect anyone except Rutgar to double attack him. Or anybody other than Rutgar/Dieck to actually hit the guy, as he has 58 avoid counting his throne bonus. Also remember to talk to Cath(who you will be getting in a later chapter)with Roy. Also, gl getting all the chests while retaining a low turn count. Just saying.

I sent Alan, Lance, Rutgar, Chad, and Clarine down the east corridor, while Roy, Dieck, Thany, and Ellen went up the west path. Bors simply ramboed towards the center group(as he was the only guy besides Marcus who could survive every enemy in that area). On the enemy turn, Bors gets mugged by the mages, killing one, and whiffing the other. Dieck misses with the steel blade and Alan chips his merc. Next turn, Bors uses a vulnerary(putting him back at 20/29), while Roy and Rutgar kill off the mercs. Chad then unlocks a door, while Alan and Lance gang up on a jav!loldier. On turn 3, after Bors wiped out most of the loldiers, and some guys got attacked, I took out the steel lance guy with the silver lance, then wiped out the remaining soldiers in the corridors, as Chad claims 2K. Turn 4 came, and to my non-existent surprise, Bors had wiped almost every enemy on his front, and only needed to kill the mage and jav!loldier. Not wanting to use another silver lance use, I had Bors use another vulnerary, while Thany and Saul opened up doors, allowing Roy to recruit Sue on T5. I was then met with reinforcements.

I formed a blockade in the courtyard area using Bors and Dieck, as well as a group made up of Rutgar, Alan, and Lance to kill the guys spawning from the SE stairs. The following turn, more archers and soldiers spawned from the SW stairs. I sent Roy and Rutgar to tank those guys after I finished with the guys to the east, while more guys spawned from the north. While this was happening, Chad started looting more swag, this time on the western front. After I cleared out the guys from the west, I had Bors and Dieck do more blocking, then started moving my guys into the throne room, where I combated more guys, and had Chad open the NW door(it resulted in the cavs getting extra levels). It took until turn 16 to finally kill the boss(thanks to Roy), but I had to wait until T17 to actually seize and get the Unlock.

Turns Taken: 17

Right. Roy got two epic level ups here, which should make up for some of the worse level ups I got this chapter. And my below average turn count.

In other words, I suck at being efficient. But I'm good at getting blessed Roys. It doesn't matter anyway. People are still going to mock me for being inefficient on this map. Especially dondon151.

While it seems crazy, the best way to cut turns on this map significantly is Rescue-chains with Chad and pushing Rutger and co upward. You probably could get away with missing some of the lesser items (Unlock for example). The hardest part is probably getting Roy to chat with Cath to Roy chatting with Sue to the throne with Roy. I skipped Cath, but if you're trying to recruit her as early as possible you have to push push push.

Aside from Bors (which... well... yeah), you seem to be doing fine stat-wise. Clarine at Level 2 seems a bit odd, but maybe I forgot how much EXP she really gains over the maps. I remember mine begging for EXP sometimes.

Chapter 7: Rebellion in Ostia

Starting Units:

Roy, Alan, Lance, Marcus, Bors, Dieck, Rutgar, Clarine, Ellen, Saul, Thany, Chad, Sue

New Units:

Zealot, Treck, Noah

I fucking hate this chapter.

Welcome to Hell. Or at least possible the hardest early game chapter in the game, bar none. The tricky part of this chapter is to recruit Zealot and his two scrubs. All I can tell you is that Treck and Noah will not survive without your help(luckily, Zealot can hold his own, for a while) Oh and watch out for the wyvern riders. They hit like a son of a bitch and have 7 move. The only consolation I can give to you is that bows are SE against these beasts, but gl using Wolt, Dorothy, or Sue in HM!(note that I'm only bringing Sue for those bastards.)

I sent most of my force to the right, with Dieck going west to kill the armor knight. On turn 2, I killed off more mooks and had Roy talk to Zealot(who then talked to Treck.) I then sent Marcus down to help provoke the wyvern rider. Turn 3 was spent entirely on killing the two aggro'd wyvern riders. Rutgar managed to critkill one, while on the other side, Sue killed it off with Bors' help. I also killed some of the cavaliers hounding my west flank. After some series of unfortunate events on T3 EP, I recruited Noah on T4 and sent him to retrieve Chad. I then wiped out most of the cavaliers on the west side, and took out some of the cavs on the east side. I also had Thany visit the houses for some swag. On turn 5, I sent Bors into the effective range of the red gem wyvern(after he killed a cav), which I killed next turn after stealing said gem. After another uneventful EP, I killed the last of the armors, the NE archer, and sent Rutgar into the arena for a free level. I used turn 8 to unlock the gate leading to Devias, and sent Rutgar into the arena again(I don't consider three arena battles abuse.)

On turn 10, a group of loldiers, archers, and mages rushed from inside the castle, while 4 cavaliers spawned from the south. I had Clarine pick up Rutgar, while Bors lured out the two steel lance loldiers, while Alan and Lance intercepted the mages, and Roy cockblocked the jav!soldiers. Dieck then sat in the boss's range with the armorslayer equipped, while Thany, Noah, and Zealot ran away from the cavs. I seized on T14 because Roy was too far away from the throne on T13(I had Bors kill off the reinforcements.)

Roy's really shaping up to be good. If anything, at least this means that I don't have to babysit him all the time, which kind of makes me happy. Too bad I have to baby a certain mage in the VERY near future, which might hinder my TC's a bit, but hopefully shouldn't hinder them enough to cause people to abandon this playthrough.

Bors and Rutgar finally started to cap shit, which means a near-imminent promotion(not that they're below par without promotions, but just in case they want to use those items.) As for anybody else, at least Dieck is slightly above his spd average and the cavs are starting to fill the molds in which they were designed.

Chapter 8: The Reunion

Starting Units:

Roy, Alan, Lance, Bors, Dieck, Rutgar, Zealot, Chad, Thany, Ellen, Saul, Clarine, Lilina, Astol

New Units:

Barth, Wendy, OJ

Still not Joining:

Cath

Here's the deal: this chapter throws a LOT of dangerous shit at you. There are a lot of steel weapons that can 2HKO pretty much everyone who isn't Marcus/Zealot/Bors/Barth. There is also a ridersbane armor, a killer lance armor, and an aircalibur mage to watch out for. Also, your first promoted boss. Treat him like you would any other armor. Oh, and unless your really good, this will take around 25 turns to complete, assuming a casual efficient playstyle(I took 28.)

I forgot to mention that if you want to access anything after C22, you will need to put Lilina in the NW corner of her cell. That, and she's the best in a long sad line of magic users.

I sent all my units up over the course of the first three turns, while killing any enemies in my path. I also put Lily in a safe spot so she wouldn't get sniped by the archer. On turn 4, I take out two more loldiers, an armor, and a mage in quick succession, while I put Bors into the collective ranges of the knightslayer armor and a loldier and Dieck into the range of another loldier. After the soldiers died, Rutgar kills the armor while Alan gets a kill on an archer that Bors weakened. On turns 5 and 6, I carried my units again, stopping to kill the archers on turn 7, the same time I busted Barth and his friends out. On turn 9, I readied my group to take on the army sitting south of me. While I only managed to kill two loldiers on the EP, I was able to KO everything else on the PP, then stormed into the chest room on turn 12, right before Roy talked to Cath again. Lily was finally freed on T13, after which I took out the thief using her.

Unfortunately, the reinforcements came around, which hampered my progress only a little bit, as I made my way out of the south corridor and into the throne room. I decided to take my time while moving forward, so not to waste time. I also did this to give Lily some levels(note that DA is usually against babying units, but Lily comes early enough that it isn't that big a deal.), until I got to the actual throne room on turn 20. I had the armor killed with Lily, and also destroyed the two mages with Dieck(Aircal) and Roy(Elfire). I then sat out the rest of the reinforcements and collect the rest of the swag while Bors humiliates the boss before further humiliating him with a triangle attack(the alternative was to use Rutgar and the armorslayer).

Lilina never ceases to amaze me. Of course, that's just my fanboyism kicking in. She's not that good... for now. Oh and no Lugh vs Lilina debates in my thread. I don't need any of that.

In other news, Ellen surprised me with a killer level up, and Bors manages to get some extra str. Too bad nobody else got THAT good level ups(my swordfighters only got HP/str, for instance).

See ya with the character review I'll put up next thread.

This is a true story that I overheard while hearing Roy and friends talk about how to clear Chapter 8x efficiently(got the idea from BBlade's thread).

Lilina is Ridiculous:

Roy: Rite doyles. We're at Chapter 8x, and we need to complete this map in a decently low turncount, in the off chance that we can get the Durandal before Henning gets to it. We also need to rout the map in the most EXP efficient way possible because most of us are still scrubs that can't match up to my dad's might. Now, I still suck and I still have like forever to reach Lv20 anyway, so I'll spend me time chipping.

Lilina: I'm still an underleveled scrub and I need to patch my bad stats further. That and I'm a good EXP sink. I'll take a few kills.

Alan: I need a few extra points of spd to double some guys, but other than that I'm golden. I want some.

Lance: I'm Alan with less atk and more spd. So I'd like some as well.

Bors: Eh I'm too overleveled teh care. That an' I kill everythin' in 2 hits an' take like 0 dmg from everythin'. An' I 'ave only 4 move. I'll jus' use meh Knight Crest an' not bother with you guys.

Dieck: I'm Bors with more AS but less def and atk. Not that I care as I 2HKO everything anyway, so yeah, give me a few.

Ellen: What's direct damage? Is it something you can eat?

Clarine: I'm Ellen with higher move, but worse stats and actual supports.

Rutgar: ... Give me some.

Chad: I'm crap on my own, but I can finish off something Rutgar or someone like that chipped down.

Thany: I can melee better than Chad, and I can get Bors across the pit, but other than that, I suck.

Roy: *reads dondon's guide to FE6 efficiency* Well, we're aiming for efficiency obviously, and having the scrubs pick shit off after they've been weakened rather than killed just wastes time.

Lance: Well yeah, fair enough...

Alan: But it's not like anybody is ORKOing these guys outside of Rutgar and Dieck! We're not slowing anybody down!

Roy: That's true, although a lot of other guys suck and need that EXP just as badly as you guys.

Lance: That's also fair enough. So what's the plan?

Roy: Hmm...the plan is...

*Lilina walks by, intentionally flashing a shot of her panties*

Roy: *nose still bleeding* The plan is... We tell you two bastards to go fuck yourselves and weaken shit for Lily to kill!

Lilina: Yay! I love you, Mr. Roy!

Alan: WHAT. THE. FUCK?!

Lance: C'mon, your just bullshitting, right? Her speed and durability fail big time!

Bors: I... 'ave no comment.

Now that I'm done the Lycia Saga, I thought it would be a good time to look at my current party members thus far:

Roy:

Would it have killed IS to give Roy better base stats? Or how about less shaky growths? Still, Roy wasn't all that bad, even though IS has a trend of making shitty lords(take one look at his father and you'll understand.) I kind of like how all of his crucial stats are above average for his level, which makes me happy. Still, being hard to use and having such a late-assed promotion time does not a good lord make. THAT'S the lesson, IS.

Lilina:

As far as her stats go, she's doing alright, with my only complaint being that she's slightly luck screwed(then again, -1.5 luck isn't the end of the world. In short, who cares?) While she's speed blessed enough that she's not going to get doubled, her durability really isn't helping her cause. Then again, what kind of magic user has good durability? I can tell you: he's not in this game(he joins in C17x in FE7.)

Alan:

Standard red cavalier. I will admit that he's borderline on doubling average speed things, and he's at risk of getting doubled by mercs(14 AS is about the norm for 10A mercs), but he hits like a Peterbilt, which is always nice, as he's usually 2HKOing. Defensively, he's usually 3-4HKO'd, which is about the norm for this point in the game. Still, he can't always one-round stuff because his speed doesn't allow him to do so, but has been quite useful overall.

Lance:

Standard green cavalier. I'd have to say that the guy's on speed, because he's 3 above his speed average. Which means he's doubling more often than Alan. He's still not ORKOing as often as I'd like him to because his atk is borderline on things like fighters and really cannot hurt knights(20atk with a steel lance only 5HKO's knights FFS.), though his Alan support helps him ORKO more often. Like Alan, he's a good all-around unit who doesn't disappoint.

Bors:

He honestly wasn't THAT hard to use, but it was probably only because he was facing 6AS fighters on my playthrough. Though I will be honest, his durability is his only redeeming quality, as it allows him to be placed basically anywhere. His offense was rather lacking for the first five chapters as he didn't have enough spd to double anything except knights and soldiers, and his atk was quite poor for that time. Also, his movement really got in the way in Chapters 2, 3, 4, and 8.

Dieck:

I normally don't expect him to ace in anything, but my Dieck is insanely str blessed. Like 5 above his average to be precise. His defense is also above average at 11, 3 above his average for his level. His skill and speed haven't really strayed too far off from their averages, which makes me happy as a whole. All in all, he's a great guy to have around.

Rutgar:

Out of the guys that are good at doubling, Rutgar has impressed me further by actually hitting hard. While I can't say he'll cap strength without RNG abuse, he has already capped speed and is one away from capping skill. And he's only Lv12! As for his other stats, they're nothing to drool over, especially since his luck is piss-poor as always and his defense is only average. Poor guy.

Clarine:

While I know she's good, she's only Lv4, which just sucks as I really can't assess her stats. Stupid plum-coat wearing bitch.

Ellen:

Well, her luck and resistance are top-notch(which is good for aesthetic purposes.), it still sucks that her physical durability fails HARD. Are you kidding me; 19HP/2def is getting OHKO'd by more things than I can count on my hand. At least her 10 spd will go a long way towards not getting doubled, though 6 mag still sucks.

Thany:

She's really only there for rescue utility, as her combat sucks harder than Paris Hilton giving a BJ to Michael Vick. And saying that is being extremely generous.

Chad:

Thief. Nuff said. On a side note, what kind of sick masochist decided that thieves shouldn't promote? I mean, this guy would've made a great assassin thanks to his support list and natural growths. Then again, Jaffar would be out of a job.

  • 2 weeks later...

If you are wondering why I haven't been posting more log(other than the fact that no one appears to be interested.), the reason is that I've been playing Pokemon Black for the past week or so. I'll do Chapter 8x as soon as I get my eighth badge. Sorry for the inconvenience.

P.S: I should play FE10 Hard mode.

You also can send Marcus to the west opening up the gate having him reduce some of their numbers with a Javelin. =3 Many of the enemies there have 1~2 ranged weapons. Annoying! x.x

Chapter 8x: The Blazing Sword

Starting Units:

Roy, Lilina, Alan, Lance, Bors, Dieck, Rutgar, Thany, Ellen, Clarine

Your first Gaiden map. This map has tiles that will burn a fixed 10HP off your units. You know that it's a lava tile if it looks like someone puked all over that tile. As for the enemies, they suck for the most part(the fastest non-boss enemy has 13AS, and even the steel axe fighters are a joke despite having 22-25 atk). The boss is annoying as always, and of course, has stupidly high avoid and actual durability figures. Gotta love those retarded(+3Def/+5Res/+30Avo) thrones.

Sent Bors, Roy, Lily, and Ellen north, while Alan, Lance, Dick, Rutgar and Clarine went west. I take out a myrmidon on turn 1(right after using a robe on the blue haired loli), then the steel axe fighter and archer closest to me got killed by Bors while a merc and mage ran into Alan. I kill the swordfighters with Rutgar and Alan, while Lance kills the mage and Lily destroys a chipped fighter. On turn 3, Bors chips a fighter before being whisked off, while Clarine does the same with Rutgar. Dieck, Alan, and Lance clear everything else, then on T3 EP, Ellen dodges the chipped fighter, while nothing of note happens. Except that next turn, Thany drops Bors on the other side of the chasm, while Lily finishes off the fighter(and the cavs ferry Dieck towards the main group). After Bors kills more fighters on the EP and draws in an archer, Roy and Lily gang up on a mage, after which, Clarine drops Rutgar down to block the fighter's immediate access to Ellen(who healed Roy)

On turn 6, after Lilina chipped a merc, she killed said merc, then she and Roy got healed while Bors wasted a mage and Rutgar disposed of the fighter. I then killed the other merc and took out the merc and two fighters in the north center of the map over turns 8 and 9, after which I picked up everybody and headed to Bors' location. Bors then killed the killing edge merc on T11 and chipped the armorslayer guy on the EP right before using his knight crest, which Lance killed off. While Lily and Dieck were busy killing the ranged dudes, Bors headed toward the throne area, with my mounted dudes trailing not too far behind. After Bors chipped the mage for Lily and killed the two fighters, I then formed a rescue chain to get Rutgar to the boss(I equipped his killing edge.) After the boss is brought to his knees, I then let Lily take the obligatory boss kill. I seized on T16.

I have no comment. Except that Bors promoted this chapter. At least now the western isles will be a little less maddening.

Oh, and Clarine is still low on EXP. Oh don't worry, she'll get better, but for now, she's simply a support bot for Rutgar.

Chapter 9: The Misty Islands

Starting Units:

Roy, Lilina, Alan, Lance, Bors, Dieck, Rutgar, Clarine, Thany, Ellen, Chad, Sue, Noah

New Units:

Fir, Shin

This is the first chapter in this game to have Fog of War. Fog really doesn't make the chapter any more difficult, but you should still be cautious, as there are high attack enemies everywhere. At least the game is kind enough to let you know that this is axe land. Thieves and torches help reduce this chapter's annoyance factor CONSIDERABLY.

And as for where I'm going... Fuck it. I'm going to Sacae. End of story. Nomads and myrmidons aren't terribly difficult to deal with and as for any strategies against Monke and Gel, I'll find something.

I started by sending most of my guys south, while Thany sent Bors across the river. I kill off two pirates, then send Bors to destroy an archer. I wasted turn 3 getting side-logged because Bors whiffed off against a merc, though I managed to get a foothold of the central island by turn 4, as well as getting Dieck on the mountain just south of my group. On turn 5, I cleared the central island of most of the enemies, then proceeded to get into position to recruit Fir/Shin, while boarding the north island. Unfortunately, Noah was one space away from actually being able to speak to Fir, so I had to use Bors to block her immediate access to the rest of the group. I then talked to Fir with Noah and then Shin with Sue on T7, while Dieck continued to rape whatever came between him and his mountaintop.

I had most of my units mount the north island by turn 8, during which time I set up a kill for Fir(the halberd guy), then I dealt with the mage and two archers on turn 9. On turn 10, Lily and Fir went on the northeast island to lure in the fighters and clear a path to the village, while Shin killed a merc that Rutgar weakened. Dieck then went to grab the silver sword, then started to head north. On around turn 11, pirates started spawning from the forts. Again, I don't let EXP go to waste, so I camped there for 3 turns while Rutgar killed the boss. I seized on T16, right after I bought some swords and two fire books.

Not putting in Noah or Sue's stats because I don't give a rat's ass about them. That and there's no point in posting the stats of characters I'm not going to use.

Shin and Fir are doing alright, which is cool considering I decided I'm going Sacae. Also, Dieck and Rutgar are both eligible for promotion, but I still can't decide on who to use my Hero Crest on. Ah well. Looks like I'll just have to wait and see. It was nice to see Dieck get his first point of speed in 3 maps, though. Not that I care, they're both broken lol.

Chapter 10: The Resistance Forces

Starting Units:

Roy, Lilina, Alan, Lance, Bors, Dieck, Rutgar, Fir, Clarine, Thany, Ellen, Shin

New Units:

Geese, Gonzales

I'm back from my hiatus. I will also be doing HHM soon. Please continue to follow my playthrough(not that it matters. Someone like Anou or DD151 will likely tell me to STFU.)

This chapter is rife with fighters and mercenaries, so I recommend using sword-users. There is a ballista on the western edge of this map(and your first one); if Thany goes in that area, she is simply dead(and this is not FE7 where weapon effectiveness is merely doubled). The boss can be a douche, but then again, all bosses in this game are like that. Except Raeth. What a joke.

I sent all my units downward on turn 1, with Rutgar going west, the cavs going east, and everyone else going the middle path. On EP 1, Dieck killed two fighters, and chipped a merc before the enemies piled up. I then killed all the enemies in the vicinity except the archer, who attacked Fir on the EP alongside the KE merc. I then kill the archer as well as a hand axe fighter that attacked Dieck. Turn 4 came, and I had Shin kill the berserker, as well as having my army gang up on the mercenaries and fighters over turns 4 and 5. After I take out the ballista on turn 6, I then recruit Geese on T7, while Gonzales come out of hiding at the beginning of said turn(he was converted on turn 8.)

It took me until turn 10 to get Roy's ass over to where Nord is. I then killed the boss with Dieck and seized on turn 11.

Turns Taken: 11

Clarine's level still makes me want to puke. Then again, healers were never easy to level, except in Tactics Universe, where I had Tamiko at like Lv17 going out of Siegfried mode.

Also, Dieck reached a new plane and is now manlier than ever. It was either him or Rutgar, and I decided I needed a durable 1-2 range user that isn't a general for an efficient completion of next map. That and +30 crit isn't going to help me against the mobs of hand axes and bows. Like, ever.

I guess your right. I will finish this playthrough to the bitter end before I start HHM. I'm not going to pull a CM and never finish what I started.

Speaking of which, Ch11 is going to be a doozy, especially if I want to save all the villages AND keep all of Kein/Tate's goons alive. My plan is to have Thany ferry someone over the fence near the beginning(I am so NOT wasting weapon uses breaking 100HP walls.), and I decided to nominate Dieck for the task of killing the 7 or so fighters and archers. Taking a look at my other options, Rutgar and Fir lack 2-range that isn't complete shit, Shin can't counter melee, the cavs are facing WTD if they attempt this strat using javelins, and Lilina cannot take a hit to save her own ass, much less save 2-3 houses from being blown up by bandits. And due to a combination of Rutgar and Lilina's problems, Roy was automatically out. That and I can't risk a game over. Which left Bors as my only other alternative, but I want Dieck to get a head-start on his axe rank and EXP.

Chapter 11: Heroine of the West

Starting Units:

Roy, Lilina, Alan, Lance, Bors, Dieck, Ellen, Clarine, Rutgar, Thany, Fir, Shin, Lalum

New Units:

Klein, Tate, Echidna

I changed the title because Echidna is an female Hero. That and 'Hero of the West' is more cliched than a villain monologing when he can easily kill the hero.

This chapter is an absolute bitch if you are trying to get every bonus item, but is relatively easy otherwise. Just watch out for the crazy high atk of the fighters and you are good to go. If you are having trouble with getting the top two villages, I recommend you ferry a strong, fast, and durable unit with 1-2 range and an elixir across the fence.

I shoved all my units south, using Thany to get Dieck across said fence with Lalum's help. On turn 2, I had Dieck kill the longbow dude while the rest of my forces went further south to draw in the next batch of enemies. After killing two fighters and an archer on turn 3, as well as having Dieck use an elixir, I then end the turn, only to have Dieck wipe out most of the enemy archers, as well as almost take out one of the shamans(one of the two hits missed.) Dieck then kills the shaman the next turn, as Alan was killing another longbow archer and Thany and Lance visited villages. While nothing really noteworthy happened on turn 5, Klein and his goons showed up on turn 6. I had Clarine talk to her bro, then had him visit a village. Roy did the same thing, while Dieck used his second elixir.

After clearing out some bandits, Tate and her goons spawned from our starting point, but it took around turn 9 to actually recruit her. Also, 3 fighters and Echidna spawned from the central house on turn 7 EP, and I had to RNG abuse to make sure both Lalum and Thany survived(I went too far to restart.) After I recruited Tate, I decided to send Thany back to get the last house, which I actually could've gotten a few turns back(But I couldn't exactly risk Thany anymore than I am already doing.) I sent Bors back to deal with the cavalier reinforcements that spawned on turn 11, while I sent Lilina into the arena for a few turns and had Klein buy some axes. Rutgar killed the boss on turn 13 EP, allowing Roy to seize on turn 14 after I talked to Echidna with Lalum and bought some Lightning tomes and heal staves.

My Rutgar is so broken. 17 str? He's like 4.4 above his average for that level. And I don't recall him getting that much def until he promotes either. Guess who's promoting next chapter?

Chapter 12: The Real Enemy

Starting Units:

Roy, Lilina, Alan, Lance, Bors, Dieck, Ellen, Clarine, Rutgar, Fir, Shin, Chad, Astol

New Units:

Ray, Cath

You need to beat this map in 20 turns or less to access the gaiden map that will get you Armads, so you can't dick around. Also, if you went on Elphin route(which is a LOT harder and meaner than Lalum route FYI), Elphin must also be alive. This chapter marks the first appearance of a dragon. And I'm not talking about dracoknights or Flaer(though dracoknights are still kind of scary in this game.) Thankfully, he's pathetic as his AS is the same as base level Barth and he has no 2 range to speak of. Note that he has over 30 atk and can 1-2HKO most if not all your units. Also, sleep staves. Learn to hate these fuckers.

To make this easier to read, I am going to split the log into two paragraphs detailing who does what. The west group consists of Roy, Lily, Rutgar, Dieck, Clarine, Alan, Lance, and Chad. The east group is made up of Fir, Shin, Bors, Ellen, and Astol.

West group: I send Lance and Lilina to kill the two fighters 6 spaces away from my starting position(Lance needed his Alan support to ORKO with the steel sword.), then used my hero crest on Rutgar. Some Eclipse douche tries in vain to attack Chad, but fails. Lance then kills that shaman, while Lilina draws in an armor on the EP and kills an archer on the PP. On turn 3's EP, Lily and Roy get mugged and Dieck chips down an archer, but fails to ORKO(I really hate weapon accuracy in this game, but countering with crap hit is better than not countering at all.) I then kill the archer, activate Roy and Lily's A support and picked up Chad after he grabbed the Flux book. On the EP, Alan barely lives a shaman attack, and Roy gets mauled. I then heal Alan and use my celestial ring on Lilina 'because I could'. I then have Lilina draw in the axefighters, killing all of them except the warrior, which she can't double. Rutgar then kills the warrior and I heal my party, and also dropped Chad down. I recruited Ray on turn 9, then ferried him and Roy towards the east side.

East group: I send all my dudes north. Astol dodges the Hand axe guy and gets slept. I have Ellen restore him, while Fir kills the fighter. Shin then kills the armor that Bors chipped and Astol opens the door. My thief dodges another sleep hit, while Bors kills a fighter. I then take out the sleep priest with Shin, and send Bors as far up the corridor as I could get him. He manages to chip an archer down, but missed one of the two hits. I kill the two archers the next turn and nothing eventful happens on the EP. After sending some of my units forward, I had Bors chip at the axefighters on turn 5 EP, then I had Shin ferry him back to the east side on turn 7.

On turn 10, I started to cut down the wall separating my group from Aine. Roy was too far away from reaching Cath, so I had to wait an extra turn, by which time I cut through and get my units prep'd for the battle against Aine. Well, except for Bors who decided to not bother with everyone else and kill reinforcements instead. Except that I seized on turn 13 after Rutgar killed the boss and Bors killed the sniper. That and some of the reinforcements are ridiculous(generic warrior with 28 str in Chapter 12?! This game is nuts.)

Ray 01 12 23 12 09 09 06 05 10 04

Not putting in thief stats this chapter because no one cares about thief stats. Wouldn't have put in Ray's stats either except that I'm using him(Not using Sophia because I'm not prepared to put myself through endless torture for the next 5 maps after I get the bitch.)

I managed to get two people promoted, and Shin is likely next, seeing as he almost has capped speed. Fir, on the other hand, isn't promoting until C16, when I can get another hero crest.

P.S: I miss my 23 str Rutgar at 20/2. He was awesome. Just like my insanely strength blessed Bors in this playthrough.

Now that I'm almost out of the Western Islands, I thought it would be a good time to look at my current party members thus far:

Roy:

'Hello. I'm Roy, and I still suck and am generally a seize/support bot and nothing more.' That's his purpose in life: support characters that are better than him and seize gates/thrones.

Lilina:

Well, she's become a lot better now that she's promoted, but that isn't saying much. She still 2HKO's like everything, but can't double reliably. But hey, she can heal better than Ellen or Clarine, which is a plus.

Alan:

Standard red cavalier. He's still borderline on doubling average speed things, but he's still 2HKOing things with a steel sword, which is awesome. Still, he can't always one-round stuff because his speed doesn't allow him to do so, but has been quite useful overall.

Lance:

Standard green cavalier. He still doubles the majority of enemies, but he is still reliant on things like steel lances to secure 2HKO's. Like Alan, he's a good all-around unit who doesn't disappoint.

Bors:

Well he can tank all day with 44HP/26Def, and hit somewhat hard with that 21 str of his, but he also suffers the same issues as Lilina, he can do damage, but can't double 100% of the time. And his bad movement is still a problem. Thankfully, I'm getting the boots on Ch14, which should alleviate his movement issues somewhat, though he still isn't guaranteed the boots, as Roy, Miredy, and Percy may want it for their own reasons.

Dieck:

After his promotion, Dieck Cheney became a complete beast that could lay a beat-down to just about anything. Well, to tell you the truth, he isn't doubling as often as I'd like him to but being able to 2HKO helps.

Rutgar:

Now that he's promoted, Rutgar is likely one of my best mates, solely due to the fact that he can generally one round anything if he gets a crit. Which happens often because he has like 80 crit with a Killing Edge and Clarine sitting next to him.

Clarine:

Now that she's gained a few extra levels, I can now assess her stats properly. While it's still too early to actually say anything, I like the fact that she's magic blessed. Her speed is also slightly blessed, at the cost of still having damn near the worst concrete durability on the team. Still, a great unit to have and makes Rutgar's crit that much more reliable.

Ellen:

Yup. Standard Lena-type healer. High in the skill, luck, and resistance, average in the magic and speed, low in HP and defense. There isn't much to say about her.

Fir:

She's basically Rutgar with more luck, but far less HP/str/def. Which means that she's a worse version of Rutgar, but is still good in her own right. Too bad the Shin support takes like forever to max out.

Shin:

I've only been using him 4 chapters, and man he's good. He doubles reliably enough and can severely damage dracoknights, which is w1n in my book. Lack of 1 range sucks, but it'll get better once he promotes.

Ray:

Haven't used yet. Can't make analysis on units who I haven't touched yet. Come back after I finish Eturia.
