Best lord? Why?

Wow... I knew Eirika and Lyn were very similar statistically, but I never bothered to check how much.

That's... actually a hilarious comparison.

Since almost nobody plays FE2, Alm is much better than Celica. The latter isn't really bad, but she's outclassed in magic by May and physical combat by, well, physical combatants. She gets Ragnarok and Excalibur while May doesn't, but she does miss out on Aura. She also gets Recover at level 8. Certainly not the worst lord. I'd say she falls somewhere in between the other female lords.

I'd personally place Cellica over Eirika, but then I'm fairly certain I've never had an average Eirika (ranging from my level 7/2 disaster to one that faceraped everything in sight due to only training her and like a couple other units earlygame) so...

Celica is incredible and you all suck.

EDIT: Er, shit, this isn't FFtF. Let's play reasoning!

Celica may be outclassed by May, but that's like saying Nolan is a shitty unit because he's outclassed by Haar. Celica is beyond greawesome - and Alm is a little less so. Once he promotes, he probably has the edge but until then Celica all the way.

You're putting Roy over Eliwood by, apparently, 90000000000000000000101005 places.

Why do I fail to take you seriously?

Regardless, back yourself up. Yes, Ephraim is powerful, but why more so than Sigurd or than Alm, who don't even place? I'd think an 'official' power ranking would at least tell us which games it is counting.

caaaaaaaaalm down bro I don't think he's really taking this entire thing as seriously as you, nor is he trying to provoke a debate

If he's ranking it on process of enjoyment, well, I take back 85% of what I said (considering I'm the kind of guy who takes gleeful joy in letting BraveAxe Dozla loose during Last Hope...), but if he's making judgements on quality by way of incoherent memes...

Even so, this really wouldn't be the place to be making factually incorrect posts. Since this is a general FE board and all. And as such, factually incorrect posts are often met with responses explaining why the posts in question are incorrect. It can head one of two ways if the person making the factually incorrect posts is expressing an opinion of his or hers. (Which is not really a great way of expressing opinions on these boards if it's about units in FE.) They either accept it and move on their merry way, maybe becoming an FE unit debater in the process. Or they engage in constant flame wars, always expressing their opinions as fact, even when it's proven otherwise.

If you want an example of the latter I mentioned, I'm pretty sure pages 68 and 69 of the FE6 tier list, or a recent topic regarding the Est archetype would be an interesting read.

Or... you people don't have to be tools and explain to people who obviously aren't debaters why they shouldn't post in threads on the Fire Emblem board in the fire emblem forum. (Since you guys are hardcore debaters, you probably pick apart every little point and take it literally -- I'm being perfectly sarcastic in my first sentence). Grow up past this "factually incorrect," you don't need to prove everyone wrong in terms of Fire Emblem.

Do you guys seriously try to scare non-debaters off the boards? It's people like that which got me off FE debating. You can't say anything without being pressured to back your shit up regardless of how innocent your point is in a thread which already is quite blatantly made with innocent intent.

Wow... I knew Eirika and Lyn were very similar statistically, but I never bothered to check how much.

Rebecca and Neimi are even more similar. The difference between their growths is only 5% in HP and strength, and Neimi has 1 more base resistance, and that's it. they even have the same affinity.

Ike because...WE LIKE IKE! He has awesome durability.

Ike does have some awesome durability, but of course in C27 of FE9 the bastard still only does 9 damage to the Burger King with max strength and he takes 16 damage from him with max defense.

And his speed in FE10 is lol.

But statistically he's on the level of Sigurd, Alm, Hector, and Ephraim.

*COUGH*no I'm not*COUGH*

I tried to compare Treck and Lowen (it...didn't work), before realising Garcia is a pimped version of Dorcas. As far as growths are concerned, +5 Str for -5 Luck, and all of his offences are at base 1 higher (his defence is two higher and HP two lower. He's a level higher, but...). They're both Fire affinity, as well. ...With C Axes. And 14 Con.

Can't fault 'em for consistency, I guess...

Huh, I haven't even really posted my opinion. I'd say Sigurd's best, but my favourite is Ephraim. He may suck at everything that isn't killing people, but man, that specialisation pays off in the war. Helps that his animations are great, and while unpromoted fast.

...Although I gotta say I love the *chnk* sound Eirika makes as she readies her rapier.

I'm sorry for being so close to necro this thread but I just kinda never got to finish my post earlier in this thread in which I wanted to talk about both Ike and Micaiah, I just got a bit too tired that evening and the post was lying on my desktop since then because it was difficult for me to get into back into that topic.

Anyway, my honorable mention for Ike aside, my favorite Lord in the series is easily Micaiah. Mary Sue as some like to call her to my puzzlement since I don't have a positive opinion on her as a person and I kinda expect a Mary Sue to be someone to solve everyones problems instead of screwing things up and it is Ike who is referred to as the "hero of the blue flame" even though going by the cover you would kinda expect her to be the protagonist.

Not that Ike isn't 10x more hero then she could ever hope for. I'm just saying this because I was engaged in a few arguments in regards of her and I was quite puzzled how a character I perceive as deeply flawed person could be considered by the majority as Mrs FixIt. In my view her insane killcount alone prevent this kind of categorization. So it's important to me to finally write down my perspective on the character and why I perceive her as the best Lord the series had.

And what I do like her is mostly the relationship with her and the people of Daein.

On the surface this seems to be the same as the one between any other Fire Emblem Lord and his people:

The people perceive the Lord as their savior who will drive the darkness away from them, represented by the soldiers seizing their country.

And so the Lord does. Thanks to his charisma he finds many allies both among those whose will to fight was diminished before he came and those who were once his enemies, bringing the best out of them. Truly he was a hero deserving the high exceptions people had into him.

Fire Emblem likes it's stories fairytale like that and for the suppressed people of Daein Micaiah was that savior, destined to drive away the despair from their country. She is even directly compared to Ike by Bastian along with Pellas being compared to Elincia.

Like Ike did a year earlier, Micaiah was a nobody turned hero fighting to free her people and to give the throne to a naiv young royal. Or so it would seem to the people of Telius then the reality was nothing like that.

This is were I think she differs so interestingly from the traditional Fire Emblem hero.

First, she is not much of a hero to begin with.

She has flaws. And she makes bad decisions. All the friggin time.

But it doesn't make her badly written since it makes sense if you consider that she is a heron branded and as such has very strong empathy which is the source for most of her bad decisions:

-When one the run from Begnion's forces she turns around because of a vision to save Nico. Afterwards everyone around them step between her and the Begnion who got all gunned down for their trouble. To save one person, she got dozens of people killed and yet the miracle she did their probably just made the people love her even more. That whole incident is pretty much the relationship between her and the Daeins in a nutshell.

-She blindly trusts Pellas because she can feel that he is a good person. While true, this ignores that he is an idiot who is stupid enough to sign a contract with his own blood and we know how that turned out. But that's to be expected if you trust your heron empathy more then your common sense.

-She is too devoted to the people of Daein and Pellas and therefore finds herself unable to denies his request of her becoming a general even though she has no qualification besides charisma and like Reyson in PoR, the chaotic emotions on the battlefield make her suffer leading to her falling unconscious a few times and when the life of the only REAL family member she has is threatened she turns into a pathetic whimpering wreck. Not exactly good characteristics for a military leader. But she is too weak t admit her own weakness and doing what's best so she just pushes herself forward until she breaks completely.

But the really interesting thing about her as stated above is the relationship between her and the people of Daein which in contrast to the usual Lords because it's made of nothing but lies and make-believe on both sides:

The Daeins:

Micaiah: "Right now, when they look at me, they have love and affection in their eyes, but would they look at me the same way if they knew? I don't want to find out, Sothe. I don't think I could bear the truth."

The people of Daein who are driven by despair and angst, desperately want a hero and savior and decided that the girl with the odd haircolor and weird powers would make a good one and hope that pretending hard enough would make her their Messiah send by the goddess herself instead of a half breed freak that needs to be burned and they desperately clinged on that make-belief even as they faced destruction by the army of the apostle.

Micaiah:

Radmin: Look who's passing judgment! Maiden of Miracles, Savior of Daein? You've spun quite a pack of lies to inspire your conquered people.

Micaiah ignores that the kindness she receives from the Daein's wasn't given to her, a Branded from no country, but to a person they perceived to be: a Daein citizen. They wouldn't have been so nice to her if they thought she was a citizen of Begnion or Crimea or of course a Branded. Then she would have become nothing but a means to release some of the bottled anger and frustration they had to suffer from. But as I said, she ignores this and pretends to be the Daein citizen she needs to be to be loved and fights for those wonderful people who would rather freeze to death then not having enough firewood to burn a dirty halfbreed while praising them at every opportunity to any boss unfortunate enough to face her.

She even goes so far as sharing their thoughts on Ike. It's understandable that the Daein wouldn't like Ike for humiliating their country. Sure, Ashnard needed to be stopped and Crimea deserved to be freed. And he tried his hardest to help the people of Daein as he pushed forward, trying to end the war as soon as possible.

But tell that to somebody who lost their fathers and brethren to Ike's 35use Steelblade.

But Micaiah doesn't have that excuse so her opinion on Ike and how pissed she gets when Sothe brings up the man who inspired him so much is an early sign on how unhealthily emotionally bound she is to them.

So yeah, that's pretty much Micaiah for me: an idiot, a crappy leader, sure as heck not a hero, a good character and that's why she is my favorite Lord.
