in addition to that, here are some GBA version of some very classic SNES tunes. By "GBA version" I mean I got the MIDIs (in some cases I sequenced my own, from scratch) and stuck them through a hacked FE7 to use its instruments. They're all hack-insertable, provided you have the MIDIs, but for the moment I'm going to keep the MIDIs from the public until I've sequenced all the ones that I want.

This one's missing the lovely bass glissando at the beginning, but that can't be helped since the method I use to insert MIDIs doesn't support pitch bending.

Annoyingly enough, FE7 has no acoustic guitars! So rather than be a cop-out and use a piano I decided to be edgy and use a distortion guitar instead.

Sexy map sprite. It actually look like an ally colored mini version of the actual battle sprite.

Also, nice music conversions I think (haven't heard any of the songs in their SNES forms. I particularly like the section that begins at half way through Doors of Destiny.

Those are some really great map sprites! Kala looks much better now than old one. :P

And I am guessing the first one is Lucina? Looks like Marth but it looks like it has long hair sooooo.... yeah, Lucina? xD

Wow, nice work, Agro! Kala's map sprite looks excellent! It's definitely much improved with the new last frame.

As for the music - hrrg, nostalgia! For the most part, the FE4 tunes sound great with the FE7 instruments. The only thing I don't really like is the distortion guitar in Lion King Eltosian, which sounds a bit weird to me. (Haha, I don't know crap about music, so I can't really give better crit on that one.) I know you wanted to avoid piano, but a more traditional instrument might suit the piece better. Awesome overall, though - can't wait to hear these used in some hacks!

made some veeeery minor adjustments to improve the motion blur, some of the shading, and also make it so that the hilt of kalath's sword actually disappears when she holds it up (it didn't before)

reworking of "A Journey's Preface" that I did for Dream of Five some months ago. Original song by kenzomg and with some arrangements by me. I'm quite happy with how the isntrumentation has turned out but I had to get rid of some of the complexity in the 2nd part of the song because it sounded, uh... weird. Anyway, what do you guys think?

Oh, the map sprite is really beautiful...

Did you refer to something in particular to while doing it..? Wanted to make a custom map sprite too....

Don't know about Lucina's, need to see it moving...

Also great work with the music..!

Here's generally how I do map sprites (Paint 7 only)

1. Get battle animation sheet

2. Choose 3 frames to cycle through

3. Zoom out to 0.5x and printscreen it

4. zoom back to 1x and ctrl + v and get my resized animations

5. draw over them with the appropriate colours

6. done

It takes a bit of knowledge of what you're doing and probably a decent animator (I have Adobe Fireworks) to see them in action. I generally paste the head from existing FE sprites since they are all pretty much identical-looking anyway, especially the females. I really only draw over existing sprites to get an idea of motion since I lack the creativity to come up with anything more. It's also always a good idea to refer to existing map sprites that do the same thing to get an idea for things.

(Just remember that as a general rule, standing map sprites shouldn't exceed 16 px in width (32 px height is ok) unless they're like... a Fire Dragon. It's fine to go to 32 px for selected map sprites through)
