It depends if they were part or not of the European Commonwealth, since they and the Middle East nuked each other a decade before China and the US did the same. There was a recent unofficial tie-in for Baldur's Gate, and the guy who worked on that is now working at Wizards of the Coast now too. https://www.dmsguild.com/product/269398/Heroes-of-Baldurs-Gate-5e Mainly because there hasn't been many recent D&D games. Though that does make me wonder about certain things since 5e is a lot more loose with the rules compared to how some of the 2e mechanics worked, especially spells. I still don't really understand all the breach/protection/dispel spells and how they work to this day.
