Introduction:
Hey guys. First off, there may already be a thread for this somewhere on the forums, but I checked the first 5 pages of this subforum and couldn't find anything like it, so I figured it'd be safe to post. This is essentially a thread for people to find detailed challenge runs that they can attempt in Fire Emblem: Awakening, as well as post their own challenges for other people to attempt. It is my personal belief that Lunatic and Lunatic+ are poorly balanced, and so challenge runs are really the only way for players to get more replay value out of the game after completing it on Hard. I'll add all the challenges you guys suggest to this post for ease of use. If you want, you can post in this thread to let us know how many challenges you've completed, and how well you did on them.

Guidelines:
None, other than a specific format for posting Challenge Runs, which can be found below:

Challenge Name: [Name of Challenge]

Basic Concept Summary: [briefly describe the idea behind the challenge]
Difficulty Setting: [Easy/Normal/Hard/Lunatic/Lunatic+, Classic/Casual]

Number of Continues: [How many times can the player get a Game Over before they have to delete their save file?]

Resets Allowed: [Are players allowed to reset to retry chapters when characters die?]

Risen Encounters Allowed: [Are players allowed to fight Risen on the world map?]

Pair-Up Allowed: [is the Pair-Up mechanic permitted?]

Characters Allowed: [Are there any restrictions on which characters the player is allowed to use?]

Support Restrictions: [Are there any restrictions on which characters can support?]

DLC Allowed: [Are there any restrictions on which DLC chapters the player is allowed to play?]

Bonus Box Allowed: [Are there any restrictions on which Bonus Teams or Bonus Items the player is allowed to use?]
Event Tiles Allowed: [Can the player use items obtained from event tiles? Does the player have to avoid event tile spaces entirely?]

Items Allowed: [Are there any restrictions on which items the player is allowed to use?]

Miscellaneous Restrictions: [Any other restrictions that do not fit in the above categories.]

Notes: [Anything you would like to add.]

Creator: [Who is the creator of this challenge?]
Challenge Rating: [Give your challenge a difficulty rating out of 5 stars. *** for a moderately difficult challenge, for example.]

Challenges:

Challenge Name: Super Shepherd Bros.

Basic Concept Summary: You are only allowed to use characters that are canonically considered members of the Shepherds. If a character dies, you are not allowed to restart the map, so you have a very limited number of characters to last you throughout the entire game. Every death counts. If either your Avatar or Chrom dies, you lose one life. You have three lives total.
Difficulty Setting: Hard/Classic.

Number of Continues: Three.

Resets Allowed: None.

Risen Encounters Allowed: No.

Pair-Up Allowed: Yes.

Characters Allowed: Female or Male Avatar, Chrom, Sully, Stahl, Vaike, Lissa, Frederick, Sumia, Miriel, Kellam, Ricken, Maribelle. Choose one character to be your '13th Shepherd'. This character can be any non-Spotpass character who is not originally a member of the Shepherds, such as Virion. This character can be used normally, but if this character dies, it costs you one of your lives, and you are still not allowed to reset to save them.

Support Restrictions: All Supports allowed.

DLC Allowed: None.

Bonus Box Allowed: None.
Event Tiles Allowed: All event tile types allowed.

Items Allowed: All.

Miscellaneous Restrictions: None.

Notes: This is a good challenge run to start with. Very doable, but by no means a cake walk.
Creator: RiskyPLUS.

This sounds interesting but this...

...is whoa. Too much for me. I'd be too nervous to do that. xD

But definitely sounds interesting though.

Add my Hard; no Wireless Menu; no Master Seals; no Lv30 classes run to this list.

Was amazing

**Edit**

I did use the Renown Second Seal. That's the only time I dwelled into the wireless menu. And TBH it's not as necessary as you'd think.

Modify it to no Skirmishes and no Anna shoppig outside of Second Seals

This is the one I'm about to start on.

Challenge Name: Generational Gap

Basic Concept Summary: All of the first generation characters are retired after Chapter 13. You must continue the game using only children, Chrom and the Avatar.
Difficulty Setting: Hard/Classic.

Number of Continues: Infinite.

Resets Allowed: No.

Risen Encounters Allowed: Yes.

Pair-Up Allowed: Yes.

Characters Allowed: 1st Gen: anyone but Anna

2nd Gen: Chrom, Avatar, Lucina, Owain, Inigo, Brady, Kjelle, Cynthia, Severa, Gerome, Yarne, Laurent, Noire, Nah, Morgan

Replacements: Any paid DLC character, Anna, Say’ri, Tiki, Basilio, Flavia.

Support Restrictions: None.

DLC Allowed: EXPonential Growth may only be played once.

Bonus Box Allowed: No bonus items or renown awards.
Event Tiles Allowed: Yes.

Items Allowed: All items may be used.

Miscellaneous Restrictions: After chapter 13 is completed, only characters listed as 2nd Gen may be used. You must pair up any parents you want to before then. For each child who doesn’t exist (due to the mother dying or being unmarried) you may select one Replacement character to permanently add to your team.

Lucina is considered the main protagonist after Chapter 13 (must be used in story and side chapters, causes restarts, etc.)

If you have less than the allowed number of units for a map, you may hire spotpass characters lower leveled than Lucina to fill your roster. These units are temporary, and can only be used if their level is lower than Lucina’s.

Notes: The main difficulty of this challenge is that after Chapter 13 you have very few characters to use, and are not able to recruit most of them at first.

No resets. I dunno if it's actually hard if you try and be as careful as possible, but I've had a lot of fun with a pretty reckless playstyle.

This is the one I'm about to start on.

Challenge Name: Generational Gap

Basic Concept Summary: All of the first generation characters are retired after Chapter 12. You must continue the game using only children, Chrom and the Avatar.

Characters Allowed: 1st Gen: anyone but Anna

Change all of your 12s to 13s, because Lucina doesn't join/children are not availible until AFTER Ch 13.

Challenge Name: Mostly Melee Challenge (alternatively, Mostly Magic Challenge) or the Absolute versions

Basic Concept Summary: Depending on which version you do, you can only allow your units to use melee weapons (Levin Sword and other "melee" weapons using the Mag. Stat are not allowed) or only Tomes. Staves are excluded if the player wishes. All Tome-only characters must be reclassed to a melee class immediately when able, and vice-versa.
Difficulty Setting: Does not matter

Number of Continues: Does not matter

Resets Allowed: Does not matter. Have at it!

Risen Encounters Allowed: If you want.

Pair-Up Allowed: Certainly!

Characters Allowed: No restrictions on the characters, as long as they can reclass to a melee/mage class and stay there.

Support Restrictions: Nope.

DLC Allowed: Yes. If you're doing Absolutely Melee/Magic and encounter Tome-only/Melee-only classed characters who cannot be reclassed into the other, however, are excluded.

Bonus Box Allowed: Obviously some items cannot be used based on which challenge you're doing, but you are allowed to sell them as Gold fodder if they'd normally break the conditions of the challenge.
Event Tiles Allowed: See Bonus Box.

Items Allowed: All, except for Energy Drops for Magic and Spirit Dust for Melee (exception to this rule: Staves-users).

Miscellaneous Restrictions:

For the regular version:

  • Mage/Melee-classed units cannot be used in the story battles, but can be used in Challenges in order to level-collect. (General exception: any unit who would normally break the challenge that comes in during a chapter, but they cannot be used unless they're reclassed. Exception for Mostly Magic: Chrom, due to forced deployment.) If you're level-collecting for units like Miriel and Ricken for reclassing purposes, the moment they reach Level 10, you MUST use a Change Seal on them or otherwise unequip them and prevent them from fighting for the remainder of the battle.
  • Classes such as Tactician or Dark Flyer can be used AS LONG as they're only using the weapons that fulfill the challenge. Ex: Tactician must use Swords for the Melee Challenge, etc.
  • You cannot reclass units into Tomes-only or Melee-only classes. (MeleeChall: Even if they use Staves, you cannot reclass into Sorcerer, Sage, etc. MagicChall: The only exception is if you have Bolt Axes or other Magic stat-using weapons at the ready. If there is none and a unit is in a melee class you must either reclass back into a Tome-user, or bench that unit until you get more.)
  • Manaketes and Taguels fall under the Melee category since they (from what I recall on Manaketes; feel free to correct me on this) use the Strength stat, therefore are usable in Mostly Melee and are unusable in Mostly Magic.

For the Absolute versions:

  • Mage/Melee-classed units cannot be used in ANY battle, including Challenges and DLC (NPCs that break the challenge due to class and weapon choice do not count, and you're free to go into the Paralogue or Xenologue/Outrealm Tale they help you in. Also, see exceptions for regular version above), unless they can immediately be reclassed before the next fight begins. With this, Miriel and Ricken must be benched for Absolute Melee, and several other units must be benched for Absolute Magic.

Creator: Tiaramaki
Challenge Rating: ** for both Mostly Challenges, *** for Absolute Melee, and possibly ***~**** for Absolute Magic.

I need to get somewhere, but in case I missed anything, I'll let you know of the changes.

Lunatic+

no resets (this includes for different enemy skills)

Is it even possible to complete this without doing some grinding from DLC/SpotPass?

Challenge Name: "True Classic" Mode

Basic Concept Summary: Removes a number of added features in FE13 to provide a more "core" Fire Emblem experience
Difficulty Setting: Normal or Hard suggested (Lunatic is probably impossible), Classic of course

Number of Continues: Infinite

Resets Allowed: Infinite

Risen Encounters Allowed: No Skirmishes Whatsoever

Pair-Up Allowed: Absolutely Not

Characters Allowed: Any main-game characters, including Avatar (no Logbook/DLC Characters/Spotpass/Streetpass)

Support Restrictions: None

DLC Allowed: No DLC Allowed (See notes though)

Bonus Box Allowed: Nothing from the Wireless Menu is allowed
Event Tiles Allowed: Yes (No Barracks though)

Items Allowed: Any obtained

Miscellaneous Restrictions:

-No using Second Seals. Master Seals are the only option. Once your level is capped, that's it. (One exception, see below). You can sell Second Seals for cash, consider them a Bullion.

-You can only visit the shop of a chapter you just completed. No Anna Merchants, no shopping via streetpass, and no going back to previous chapters for extra items.

-Paralogue 1-4 & Tiki's must be challenged immediately or skipped.

-No using Renown. (One exception, see below)

Notes:

-Children Paralogues: You can't farm to unlock these, but if you DO unlock them, you have freedom to challenge them whenever feels most comfortable to you. The longer you wait the harder it could be to raise these characters but the better they will be.

-Event Tiles are allowed because they're basically like the old "hidden items" throughout the series.

-(Notably) Easier variant: You are permitted to visit DLC maps once each, with the exception of Golden Pack maps. You can also allow Bonus Paralogues from the bonus box if you so desire, but they don't come into play until super late and many are harder than the final chapter anyway. Up to you, but it's suggested to do this if you end up finding that enemies have become too powerful for your team (It can happen). You are still not permitted to use DLC characters; but can use any other rewards (from villages or other rewards such as the Silver Card and Paragon manual) you obtain

-Donnel: Donnel functions as a rookie character. You can use the Renown menu to get a Second Seal for him (But not sell it!) - if you do, he absolutely must 'promote' into a first class at level 10.

Creator: Garlyle
Challenge Rating: I'll get back to you when I finish it but it's pretty tough (though not unreasonable); feels similar to around FE12 ** when done on Hard Classic. I've made it up to 17 currently even with a handful of dead weight units I could potentially have dropped a while ago.
