Whatever happened to the usefulness of archers?

FE10 Shinon kinda falls into mediocrity after 3-2 until 4-E, which is a pretty long stretch.

Exactly. He has great offense for all of 3 chapters and then he's just...there.

Shinon has great offense, with the growths to maintain it, and arguably the best all-round tank in the team, yet is apparently mediocre. This shows just how poorly balanced archers and mounts are.

That can't be since FE has Jamke.

Too bad for Jamke that he's in the unfortunate position of being in a game where mounts dominate because of big maps.

Jamka is super good in 0% growths, but Briggid is super BETTER THAN HIM IN EVERY WAY.

EDIT Also Midir is arguably better than both of them, KILLER BOW OP.

Man would yall mind not saying "no reason to use X"

There's "no reason to use" a character that's physically incapable of inflicting damage

"A reason to use Jamke" would be that if you move him into a space where he can attack an enemy, he will hurt and potentially kill it because he's jacked as shit

I know you mean that as shorthand for "Sigurd is physically capable of getting to a space where he can attack and kill an enemy before Jamke gets a chance to do so," but Pet Peeeeeeeeve

Archers were amazing in echoes due to high range but are terrible in every other game (apart from fe1 where they can do some decent chip damage. The problem they mostly have is that they can't attack at 1 range meaning they have terrible enemy phase, most games don't have too many fliers and there are better alternatives e.g nomads.
