So this is an idea that's been floating around the boards and no one has done it yet... until today! With Roy as my only sword user, three healers, and a whole lot of axes, will I be able to beat the game notorious for its bad hit rates? We'll see! [spoiler=Rules]1. AXES ARE THE ONLY WEAPON. Anyone who can't use axes doesn't fight! Exception 1: Roy is allowed because fuck having him one-shotted by siege weapons from Ch14x on. Exception 2: Marcus can use whatever the heck he wants for the first two chapters. Exception 3: Ellen/Saul/Clarine can be used for healing, but may not promote. Dancers can dance. Might use other non-combat utility here and there (i.e. ferrying in Chapter 8). 2. We do this on HARD MODE. Game will be played to the true ending. 3. Two savestates per chapter, just like Shadow Dragon. Let us begin... Now. [spoiler=First is the worst] No axes, 0/10 fuck this chapter I mean seriously, look at them. Would it be too much to ask for one of these guys to be on our side? Whatever. Just hand in your weapons and fall back, scrubs. And why is this even an option? Is there anyone here who doesn't change this to "Fast" at the first opportunity? For glory! Step it up, Marcus! Roy is dodging better than you! And it wasn't just one hit. Both fighters hit him. You should be ashamed of yourself, Marcus. Well, that didn't take long. Okay, let's try this again. I'm not using this for long, why not? And then after another death I decided the bottom route is probably much better. Well, mostly easier. One time I tried having Marcus go straight for the archer's throat... Bad idea. Thaaaaat's a good Jeigan. Why can't Iron Swords have one more Mt? :c acceptable I'm trying to farm good levels early on, because I'm going to need them. Used a save state here so he doesn't die from shit rates on a forest. Shut up and give me my gold Navi Not bad. Who you calling idiots, Dumbass? You can't even spell your name right! Marcus is getting tired of these bandits. Okay Roy, let's see if you can pull it off! Didn't think so. At least the level was good. More softening with Marcus and... There, that wraps things up. Percival has meh skill but you can save the skillbooks for him. I'm presuming he means litearlly he only uses axes so yeah... Voted Echidna because she might just be your most reliable bosskiller till Paladin GOD arrives. I'll still be following this run though, I like most of the axemainers in this game. I said "at base". If any of them came at level 10+ I would instapromote them but as it stands I can't. [spoiler=Finally some axes!] Regardless of how good or bad her levels are she'll be invaluable, at least until Saul comes. Marcus needs this more then you ever will, pal. While Roy and Marcus go to meet the new recruits, everyone else makes themselves useful. wut are you serious You're telling me you don't stock the cheapest weapon in the game? You are a disgrace of a merchant. At least these two come well-equipped to take the front. And they're doing a fine job! The first. Of many. Roy and Marcus need to clean up fast so they can back them up. What the? really Used my first save state here to make sure this hit. And get good levels on Ward and Lot. Doubling \o/ (he got a HP/Spd/Luck level I forgot to cap) That was close. MARCUS GET OVER HERE And then Roy and Marcus arrived. And all was well in the world. ...Well, not all. "Mercenary" is short for "Myrmidon with armor". Add in swords and it's not the wyverns that will cause problems, it's these pricks. The rest of them were weak by comparison. I made a second save state here. I had freed units, so why not? Even if it took a few tries, it's only appropriate that the shitfaced jerk gets HAMMERED. And then Roy guts him fooooooor... one stat. Load state. Slightly different turn of events, but the boss still gets HAMMERED. Next chapter has an annoying start because of those rear-soldiers. What was that? To be blunt, I disagree - he wont be doubling anything but the slowest of the slow (this IS hard mode we're talking about), for one, and his skill's pretty awful - not good when the most accurate axes have a whopping 65 hit. Sure, he'll hurt if he hits, but I think that's just not enough to outweigh 10 frigging base speed.
