Knight
Platformer: Super Mario Galaxy Action/Adventure: Zelda: Twilight Princess (Honourable Mention to a lot, given this is my favourite genre. Super Metroid, a lot of other Zeldas, Castlevania SotN, Batman Arkham Asylum, and a ton more.) Shooter: Metroid Prime (Also GOAT, it's arguably action/adventure, but I needed something here.) Fighter: SSBB w/ Project M RPG: Pokemon Emerald Strategy: Fire Emblem 7 Stealth: Metal Gear Solid (honourable mention to MGS3 and Batman Arkham Asylum since it can fall under here too.) Puzzle: Professor Layton, can't decide my favourite. Other: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

solrocknroll
I love Earthbound's genre in the OP. Platformer: Super Mario World/Galaxy Action/Adventure: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker/Majora's Mask/Link's Awakening Fighter: SSBB/Persona 4 Arena. RPG: Pokemon Heartgold or Emerald/Mother 3/Suikoden II Strategy: Fire Emblem 7/Advance Wars 2 Visual Novel: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies GOAT: Mother 3/Fire Emblem 7 Yes, I am conflicted. TatsuyaSuou
I've played a crap ton of games but these are the only ones that come to mind. Very much GC era influenced. Platformer: Super Mario Sunshine Action: Castlevania SOTN Fighter: SSBB RPG: Persona 2: IS (Mother 3 in close second) Strategy: Fire Emblem 4/11 Visual Novel: Persona 3 Portable (umad) FPS: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Racer(?): Kirby Air Ride The goat: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Anacybele
I've played lots of genres, this'll be fun. ^^ Platformer: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (or does Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon count? Or is that one more of the adventure genre?) Action/Adventure: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword RPG: Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn Fighting: Super Smash Bros. Brawl RTS (Real Time Strategy): Age of Empires II Simulation: Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Racing: Mario Kart Wii (may change to MK 8 though) Party: Mario Party 8 Puzzle: Bejeweled 2 Shooter: The only one I've played here is Medal of Honor :P Visual Novel: I'm pretty sure I've played something from this one, but I can't think of any right now. >_< GOAT: Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (probably going to always be my favorite game ever!) BrightBow
Adventure: The Curse of Monkey Island Always funny and surprising. Real Time Strategy: Empire Earth Age of Empires on crack. In a good way. Turn Based Strategy: Tear Ring Saga Yeah, I list PoR as my favorite but that game doesn't have many tactical situations that can't be solved by throwing Paladins at it. So listing it here just doesn't click well with me. This one got good map variety, the mechanics are very well put together and the world building and character relationships are well done. RPG: Gothic II A simply unequaled atmosphere, amazing action and glitches all over the place. Though, even back then the dragons were a letdown though. First Person Shooter: Aquanox 2 Does it still count as FPS if you are in a submarine? The game got Sniper Riffles, though. It's a linear game with some side quests and optional objectives. I like that this game unlike most linear games allows you to replay all levels from the main menu. The game simply gives you preset equipment for those opportunities. I wish Fire Emblem would do that too. 2D Platformer: Castlevania (NES) The Castlevania formula is just so much fun. Hate the mummies, though. 3D Platformer: Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness Skillfully combines platforming goodness with the glooming atmosphere suited for the demon castle. Racing: Mario Kart: Double Dash Mario Kart games are all awesome but this one gives me the best vibes for some reason. Fighting: M.U.G.E.N. Well, technically it's just an engine. Beat'Em Up: Samurai Warriors 3 There is so much stuff going on all over the map that the game manages to stay exiting. Compared to this, Sengoku Basara got dull very quickly. Rail Shooter: Sin & Punishment: Successor of the Sky So many levels, so much variety, so much difficulty, such awesome controls... Puzzle: Lode Runner 94 Not that there is much competition. I still wonder if there is a way out if you get accidentally caught in your own snare trap. Favorite Game of all Time: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance The game's absolutely amazing worldbuilding and characters make for an immersive experience that I have yet to experience again. Now if I could just play that Maniac mode.... Edited February 2, 2014 by BrightBow

Leinex
Puzzle: If Professor Layton: Unwound Future doesn't count, then Sudoku. Turn-Based Strategy: FE11 Adventure/Action: Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap (Twilight Princess is a really close second.) Platformer: If Super Paper Mario doesn't count, then Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. RPG: The World Ends With You. Fighter: Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Visual Novel: Hatoful Boyfriend. Racing: Diddy Kong Racing. (Nintendo 64; not sure if I have the title right off the top of my head.) Game of All Time: Pokemon Sapphire. ...I really need to go play more not-Nintendo games. RJWalker
Shooter: Battlefield 1942. Shooters only went downhill from there. JRPG: Pokemon Black 2. And Pokemon is the only JRPG series I enjoy. WRPG: Mass Effect 2. Racing: NFS 2. Good times on split-screen 2 player with my cousin. Platformer: Some Castlevania. Which particular one is my favourite keeps changing. Sandbox: GTA San Andreas. Simulation: SimCity 4. Too bad they never made another SimCity game. Great series. Strategy: Warcraft 3 + Expansion. To discount the expansion is criminal. DoTA-clone: Dota 2 (I won't call it MOBA because that's a term Riot came up with to try and disguise the fact the LOL at it's earliest was a DoTA clone.) Visual Novel: These are not games. Come at me. GOAT: Warcraft 3 + Expansion again. Edited February 7, 2014 by Ranger Jack Walker

Djing
Platformer: Donkey Kong Country 2 Quite frankly my favorite Nintendo Game ever. The soundtrack is amazing and adds to the experience. FPS: Team Fortress 2 Hilariously fun and constant updates keep this game relevant. Also hats. RPG: Pokemon X/Y if it counts Generally the most recent Pokemon game will fill this spot. The fandom I have the most dedication towards. Tactical Role Playing: Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn Radiant Dawn gave me the most playtime out of all the Fire Emblems. Definitely the prettiest Fire Emblem to look at imo. Fighting: Mortal Kombat 2011 Mortal Kombat 2011 is just a delight to play. Every combo you pull off just makes you feel like an absolute badass. It was also the game that made you feel good to be a Mortal Kombat fan. Who's laughing now Street Fighter? Sandbox: Saints Row the Third A complete lack of boundaries makes this game sublime. Its GTA with Dildos and Blow up dolls. I mean that in the most flattering way possible... Roguelike: The Binding of Isaac Hilariously difficult. Team Meat's art style gives it a distinctive look. Very underrated soundtrack. This game will teach you pain, both in receiving it and dealing it. Racing: Mario Kart Double Dash The tag team racing was the coolest thing ever. Why didn't Nintendo make Double Dash 2? Puzzle: Scribblenauts Unlimited A game that truly allows you to use your imagination to it's fullest extent. Summon Cthulhu to solve all your problems!
