Meepo
This okay. Just downloaded the latest release and it now works! Just one more thing, how do I build a team? When click "go to team builder" the game exits out. Is team builder still in the works? I'm having the same error... shouldn't have deleted the older download

When click "go to team builder" the game exits out. Is team builder still in the works? I'm having the same error... shouldn't have deleted the older download Thanks for catching this bug; I don't know how it slipped by us when we were adding the Max Units feature. I've posted a new release on the releases page, which should work. Sorry everyone for the very buggy 0.3.1 release; we will do a better job at testing in the future. Vayatir
Hello, I've been playing this with some friends, and after some server issues things seem to be moving. However, for me the game seems to constantly crash. I'm running Windows 7 and I'm not sure why this is. Since I can't seem to upload a log file I guess I'll just: ## A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:## EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x0559c9b9, pid=4576, tid=2860## JRE version: Java SE Runtime Environment (7.0_51-b13) (build 1.7.0_51-b13)# Java VM: Java HotSpot Client VM (24.51-b03 mixed mode, sharing windows-x86 )# Problematic frame:# C [ig4icd32.dll+0x36c9b9]## Failed to write core dump. Chudooder
It looks like you're running out of memory somewhere. Can you post your graphics card specs? (VRAM, type) How much RAM do you have? EDIT: Also, if you can, can you run the .jar via console and copy the output? (Open command window in the folder, use java -jar "Fire Emblem Multiplayer.jar" as the command) Edited February 8, 2014 by Chudooder
Vayatir
Forgive me if any of this is not what you were looking for! Graphics card is (I think this is it?) Intel R HD, VRAM is 1696MB (1.5 Gb), and RAM is 8gb. Apologies but I didn't understand how to do what is described in your edit. Could you provide more detailed instructions if possible? Chudooder
Hm, your graphics card specs are fine, so it must be something else causing the crash. To run from command line, open the folder that the .jar is in shift-rightclick the folder (in some empty space) select "Open command window here" type the following command: java -jar "Fire Emblem Multiplayer.jar" if it says something like: 'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, then don't worry about the rest of this, just tell me more about what triggers the crash if you can. if you did it correctly, the game should start, and the console should start filling up with a bunch of lines play until the point where the game crashes the console should say something like: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.??? at ??? at ??? ... copy or screenshot the output and post it here. Only the stuff about the Exception is important Edited February 8, 2014 by Chudooder
Vayatir
I got the 'Java is not recognized as an internal or external command etc etc' message. Well I was playing just now, but honestly I'm not doing anything special to cause the game to crash. What just happened was that the game closed whilst I was managing Tana's equipment (buying and selling weapons), but I've also had the game suddenly close twice when playing against a friend. It was on the map screen whilst we were moving units towards each other. It doesn't seem to be a specific action causing this to happen, as the game can progress for several turns before this occurs. It seems to be something that happens after a certain amount of time. For example I can buy and sell equipment just fine, but after spending too long doing so the game suddenly closes. Same thing with matches. jedyobidan
I got the 'Java is not recognized as an internal or external command etc etc' message. If you're getting the 'java is not recognized as an internal or external command' message, see if you can find where java is installed on your computer, and type the full path to it in command line. For example, on my computer, I found java installed at "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe", so I would run: "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\java" -jar "Fire Embelm Multiplayer.jar" Note that the full path to java is in quotes and the ".exe" is left out. See if that works; if it does, see if you can get the game to crash again and post the exception output like Chu said previously.
Vayatir
This is what came up on the command prompt when the crash occurred, I was building a new team at the time.
Chudooder
That's not a bug in our code, it seems like you're having a memory issue http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1821173-exception-access-violation-0xc0000005/ Looks like it's a bad Java installation? We use the same engine as Minecraft so this thread should be relevant. Try reinstalling Java and see if it fixes the problem.
Vayatir
Okay I can't believe I didn't think of that myself. Thank you. So a friend and I have been trying to play for the last hour or so. I can seemingly play without it crashing after a period of time, which is good! But, we've encountered a few issues. First of all (and the most serious) is that our attacks don't seem to register. For instance, I tried having Tana w/ Gradivus attack my friend's Ephraim across a wall at two range. Nothing happened, and Tana ended her turn as if I had pressed wait. Then my opponent tried attacking one of my units, and the same thing happened for them. What's even weirder, as to the other one it looked as if we hadn't moved our units at all. This happened in the next two matches we tried, no matter which unit we used, they would just end their turn and to the other player it would look like they hadn't moved from their original position. Also, when we tried attacking an unarmed unit the game froze up. Finally, in the first match we had the turn counter randomly started skipping turns. At the end of Turn 5 it skipped to Turn 22, and then on the next turn it skipped to 43. At one point my friend ended up getting two turns in a row for some reason. If you need any data, I could try and collect it.
Chudooder
It sounds like the server is crashing for some reason. Lemme try recreating it on my end. EDIT: Okay, found the bug. I will upload a fixed version in a bit. EDIT2: Found the attacking unarmed units bug. Edited February 9, 2014 by Chudooder

Chudooder
Thanks for being patient with us and helping us bug test! We managed to fix the game-breaking bugs, so this version should work. https://github.com/chudooder/FEMultiplayer/releases/tag/0.3.3-beta On supports: While it would be a nice tactical option and would add complexity to the teambuilding, we haven't had any plans to implement them. This is mainly because of the limited pool of units at the moment. Maybe once we get more units into the game, we can definitely try to figure out a way to do supports. Classes such as Wyvern Lords and Great Knights are kind of in the same position; we'll add them later once we get the major gameplay and networking stuff ironed out. Jyron Stone
Probably not something that desperately needs looking into at the moment, but will there be character nerfing/buffing in the future? Out of curiosity, a friend and I checked the level 20 stats of all the characters in the game so far (and the level 10 stats for certain classes to see if the comparisons changed much). We had some interesting results. Using the Swordmasters as an example: Level 10 stats Guy: 39 HP, 13 Str, 3 Mag, 23 Skl, 28 Spd, 16 Lck, 8 Def, 6 ResJoshua: 42 HP, 16 Str, 4 Mag, 25 Skl, 26 Spd, 13 Lck, 8 Def, 5 ResMia: 41 HP, 16 Str, 5 Mag, 26 Skl, 28 Spd, 16 Lck, 13 Def, 7 ResEdward: 36 HP, 13 Str, 3 Mag, 23 Skl, 24 Spd, 14 Lck, 11 Def, 3 Res Level 20 stats Guy: 47 HP, 16 Str, 4 Mag, 28 Skl, 35 Spd, 20 Lck, 9 Def, 8 ResJoshua: 50 HP, 19 Str, 5 Mag, 31 Skl, 32 Spd, 16 Lck, 10 Def, 7 ResMia: 48 HP, 19 Str, 5 Mag, 32 Skl, 33 Spd, 20 Lck, 15 Def, 8 ResEdward: 43 HP, 15 Str, 4 Mag, 28 Skl, 30 Spd, 16 Lck, 14 Def, 4 Res At level 10, Mia is literally the only Swordmaster worth using. But at level 20, things change a bit: Mia is still probably the best Swordmaster to choose from, but Guy has 35 Speed, the highest possible so far (shared with level 20 Matthew and Tana btw) and thus giving him a decent niche. Joshua is mostly outclassed by Mia still, but the differences other than Def aren't all that notable, so using him out of personal preference is acceptable. Edward, meanwhile, is terrible at both levels: using him as a Swordmaster instead of another is just a handicap.
TheWill
Something's I noticed with the stats as well is that you're using the average levels for them which I completely agree with. However, you didn't include the promotion gains which I think would be more interesting. Although looking at it, it's probably intentional considering Lucius is now a Sage instead of a Bishop. I'm actually not sure the differences between promotions for each game, however I can see why you done it. In particular however, ignoring Lucius, will you be doing polls or something similar for other characters such as Marisa or Amelia? I personally make Amelia a General, however I think the majority prefer her as a Paladin. Similarly, I see Marisa preferred as a Swordmaster. I do think it's too much work to include both, so do you think a poll would be the best option or rather, just go with what you feel is right? A relatively minor thing for now though that I'm sure a few will say, will there be any recolouring the Fire Emblem 7 mugs to match the colours of Fire Emblem 8? It's odd seeing them together. Also what can we expect to be added? More characters from Marth's/Ike's universe? Or possibly even Leaf or Krom. I'm very excited for this, great work so far. Could possibly see tournaments held with this in the future.
jedyobidan
Probably not something that desperately needs looking into at the moment, but will there be character nerfing/buffing in the future? Out of curiosity, a friend and I checked the level 20 stats of all the characters in the game so far (and the level 10 stats for certain classes to see if the comparisons changed much). We will definitely be nerfing and buffing units in the future. These are just the stats I pulled off of serenes forest and plugged straight into the game, so I haven't actually looked at how the units stack up against each other (especially when they come from different games). Hm... I was not aware most people prefer Amelia as a paladin (but I don't really use her anyway, but that's just me). A poll is an interesting idea though, we will play with it and see what we can do. We may end up recoloring the sprites to match FE8 colors, but since we'll be adding other characters from other games, things might look odd anyway. More characters will be added, especially from Marth's and Ike's games. Probably not anything before FE7 though, as most people have not played those games. Garland Chaos
I can't play this for some reason, whenever I press enter while the FE Multiplayer file is highlighted, it just closes out before it even starts.
Havel the Rock
Mine works fine. The only problem I have is finding people to play with me. :(
Vayatir
On the note of sprites, will the battle sprites be fixed at a later date? Not as big a deal as making sure the game is fully functional, but it's quite odd to see all of the Sages having Erk's battle sprite. Chudooder
We sneaked in a fix to our palette swapping shader so that we can pass in different palettes, so getting those in will probably be the next thing we do. I can't play this for some reason, whenever I press enter while the FE Multiplayer file is highlighted, it just closes out before it even starts. Is there any output in a log file? Your Java might be outdated but I'm not sure.

Chudooder
Can you check your Java version? http://www.javatester.org/version.html If there's no log output then it isn't a problem with the code, but rather some issue that is preventing you from running the .jar. Jyron Stone
When you're in a server, the Exit button doesn't seem to work: your name is removed from the list of people, but you're kept on that screen rather than being brought back to the starting screen.
