Astra Weapon

Recommended Posts

Is it just me, or does anyone else think the weapon for Astra should have been an axe, and not a bow? If they had made it an axe, the three weapons (Sol, Luna, and Astra) would've completed the weapon triangle. Also, the first letter of each weapon's name would've matched the first letter of their weapon type's name (Sol and Sword, Luna and Lance, Astra and Axe), which would've been a nice touch.

However you think of hitting someone very quickly many times, and a big and heavy axe ins't the first thing that springs into mind. A bow really fits the skill better.

It may be because Astra requires high Skill to activate semi-often (Skill/2), while Vengeance doesn't require as much to activate frequently (Skill*2) -- compare the Skill stat of bow-using classes (ie. Sniper) when compared to axe-using classes (ie. Berserker).

One could argue they're based on the FE2 lances of the same names. Luna was kept for lances, Sol went to swords and Astra to bows, which is fitting because axes weren't really important in that game.

Also considering the Japanese name of the skill being Shooting Star, arrows fit quite well.

This. There shouldn't really be much of a question about it.

For non-Fire Emblem reasoning, I'd also think about Heracles killing the Hydra with a bow in Greek mythology. That's a feat reminiscent of multiple attacks at once.
