This chapter took me SOOOOO MANY tries to beat. At the end, I just said fk it and used the Mine Glitch. Also, how were those...."surprises"? >:D

The surprises were TERRIBLE.

He could've at least done inventory management.

I DO do inventory management! It's just...offscreen, so I don't bore you guys!

Specifically, I made sure everyone had some kind of legendary. Looking back though, here's a list of what I DIDN'T bring and ended up wishing I did:

*Berserk staff

*Warp staff

*Like 10 more restore staffs

Moral of the story: Bring lots of staffs.

i just thought of something, what do you plan to do after this?

i mean, it'll be a long while before EN is fully finished.

Nergrinch is an almost allmaxed Dark Wizard carrying the second most powerful weapon in the game, and the most powerful weapon obtainable by you. Make sure to have someone to pass that tome to the minute you get it.

This was when I had the Fortify animation bug. Vaida just sits there for a bit, but then the game plays the "no damage" sound and snaps out of it. Everyone is healed properly. It's rather odd, but the other LPers had their game freeze, so I should consider myself lucky.

The reason Hector can't damage him is because only SOME legendaries are effective against him. Reinfleche is already effective against fliers, so it isn't effective against Nergal, or something like that.

When I do the final patch, I'll be changing up some things.

1. Jerme gets a unique Runesword (Call it the Uber Runesword if you will) with actual stat boosts.

2. More varied T3's in the final sections.

3. Make Darin a halberdier as he's supposed to be. Herp.

4. Also, I'll give Enemy Vaida an Uber tome of her own on her first chapter, maybe an Uber Lightning?

5. I'll change that one enemy on the dragon's chapter in the southernmost part of the map to a NPC so you can't kill him. Heheheh...

I shouldn't toot my own horn/suck my own dick but the amount of trolliness I put in the final three chapters is just so good. When I do the final patch though, I'll be changing up some things.

Okay, so... here we go. Describing the threats.

This is a generic magic seal. He's not that tough. BUT... he is extremely annoying. You can leave him alive and try to strategize around him, or you can just kill him.

Up here is...well...Nils is dangerously close to the enemies. As in, he can't escape their range even if he uses his full movement. You literally HAVE to rescue him, if you don't want him to die. Yeah.

And Santa...he's in even more danger. He'll die very quickly if you actually have him try to engage the enemies. We HAVE to pull them back.

Oh yeah, and did I mention a giant wall of enemies? This feels kinda like artificial lengthening at a point when you're ready to be DONE, but trust me...these guys are much, much more.

They are an unstoppable WALL of PURE DAMAGE. Your Erekshigal user could stand against them...if literally every single enemy wasn't SUPER EFFECTIVE against them!

The sorcerors provide raw power with Gespenst to kill your tanks. The sages provide accuracy with Excalibur to kill your dodge tanks. The paladins hit defense, just for good measure.

There is no counter. There is no options.

We're screwed.

EVERY SINGLE ONE of the people in the thingies has a staff. Two have physics. Oh yeah, and the two archsages next to the dragon have MORE status staves.

So IN ADDITION to the enemy wall, you have to deal with 5 or so of your units being disabled right from the start! FUN!

The exception is this one lady with a Luna and an unusable Excalibur, and the Luna is almost worse.

Oh yeah, and this guy! He's almost as strong as Nergal, with another Ereshkigal! Just...seriously...this entire final boss fight is so ridiculous and over the top insane that it's almost hard to believe.

And then the game teaches me why my strategy won't work.

It's because of the status staves. I only brought one Restore(Nils is carrying it), and even doing trading shenanigans to get it passed around, I STILL can't get everyone back on their feet. And there's only so many you can kill with axereavers.

See, this bossfight becomes more almost impossible if you don't show enough foresight to know which items to bring(eg: Every staff in the convoy), since Merlinus doesn't come. We failed to bring most of those items, and as a result this boss fight is insanely hard.

Everyone attacks Uberspear!Wil. There are so many of them, that even with that hit chance, one of them eventually hits. However, this tells me something:

It works fine...until these guys come. Remember what I said? Their accuracy makes your dodgetanks worthless. The sole exception is Serra, who can dodge regardless, but using her alone is NOT enough to turn the tide!

If NPC's really do disable the mine glitch, then when I make that magic seal an NPC, mines won't work anymore. WHOOOO!

Also, I do not plan to make the final chapter any easier. Just because it requires a full restart and therefore a small amount of trial and error doesn't mean the difficulty is fake. Fake difficulty would be making all the enemies have 100% chance to hit you while you only have a 40% or lower chance to hit them, AKA pure BS.

Rienfleche!Hector or Ereshkigal!Leila are your best options; both might require some dodge-rigging though. Kill the magic seal for the latter; leave him alone for the former.

I tried both of them, but they got murdered by Basilikos/Excalibur users, respectively.

Yeah, if I had a mine I would've used it, to just disable the normal mooks at least if not the dragon.

And for some reason I REALLY didn't want to replay the Nergal fight, even if that's honestly what I should have done.

Just because it requires a full restart and therefore a small amount of trial and error doesn't mean the difficulty is fake.

Sorry Klok, I gotta disagree with you there. Basing the player's success/failure off of things they couldn't have possibly predicted is fake difficulty.

As Swordsmaster said I've already beaten the hack. While Hector certainly could do amazing, he's easily Sleep'd, he can't be fully effective without moving the much weaker Lyn in range, and he does definitely require dodge rigging.

Merlinus was a transporter, pretty much. He did fine in all the chapters, in spite of the enemy inflation.

I think I actually got a BAD Hector. I had to give him lots of statboosters, and he didn't cap speed! Ah well, he proved to be immensely useful throughout the whole game regardless.

Nils...he was never that amazing, getting one-shotted by nearly everything by the end, but I guess that's to be expected.

Lyn was screwed in everything but SPD/SKL and I guess RES. She had to be given energy ring after energy ring to get that strength up. Sheesh.

Eliwood pretty much sucked too. 60 levels and he couldn't cap everything... Oh well. I guess that's my punishment for rescuegrinding.

I fed Canas some skill books and dragonshield to cap out his stats. He was a good assassin, but he can't be PERFECT without good skill, can he?

Erk...actually turned out really well. Better than Lyn, at least. He did his magic-tanking job and did it well. I just wish Warrior had a slightly higher RES cap...

I gave Vaida the one thing she needed(a goddess icon), and she was my only allcapped unit. She proved invaluable in the final battle...well, sorta. Her light magic didn't do so well in the last section, but she was a great staffbot...when she wasn't silenced.

Keep in mind I took these during the final battle prep screen, which is why I can show her. Priscilla was weak when we got her, quickly became awesome, then slowly faded into obsolete-ness, and by the end, she was only good as an axereaver bot. Seriously Klok, you might wanna buff the female paladin caps. 23 strength?

Rath was of course amazing, once I game him a stimulant. He proved useful the whole time, even though he didn't get much action in the final fight. His only weakness was that terrible RES...

Once I got her some body rings, she sped right up and dodged basically everything. Seriously, if I had given her some more goddess icons, and had she capped speed naturally, she would have been INVINCIBLE with the Sol Katti.

Wil was useful the whole time. The Dragoon is an insanely powerful class, having both defense and offense. He did play an important role in the final battle, and that was dodging some stuff then dying to Excalibur. Okay, maybe it wasn't that important.

Nino was useless in the final battle, even with her growths. This is because the Rex Hasta is one of the weakest legends in the game, and that wyverns are inherently bad due to legend weakness. She drops in one hit. I wouldn't suggest using her.

Leila was amazing. She wrecked the final boss, all on her own! The Dark Wizard has extreme tankiness and good offense, even if they aren't that great at dodging.

Florina did really well for herself, despite her terrible growths. Much better than Lyn, at least. Of course, I didn't soup her up with tons of statboosters.

Guy was good in the earlygame, due to constantly getting amazing levels. He rocketed to level 20, got promoted, and then just...stopped. He got 1/2 stat levels, and as a result this happened to him. I didn't take him on the final battle, although sometimes I wonder if I should have.

There was never a point when Geitz did something useful(well, I guess there was that one time with the longsword...). Don't use him. He sucks.

Lowen was okay, but then just sort of faded into nothingess the instant Nino appeared. He's a good earlygame flier, but I wouldn't suggest investing much more into him than that.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

FE7 Chaos Mode is definitely one of the best hacks I've ever played. Klok at least TRIES to give some thought to his gameplay, and doesn't just place enemies everywhere(that's more than could be said for the FE13 devs!). The game manages to be hard at almost all points, but most of the time feels like you need to use actual strategy rather than just luck or unit XP calculus. He also manages to mostly avoid the trap of just throwing hilariously high-stat things at you and then telling you you aren't using enough strategy when you complain. The hack manages to cater to both masochist and normal audiences.

TL;DR: Nice job.

Hahahaha best typo ever! Thought I fixed these already! I read this as go-downer which sounded highly sexual given the nipple context XD

So, I'll consider still adding Great Knight as a T3 for paladins. This will boost their caps and make them much more useful, at the cost of an additional weakness to armorslayers as well as horseslayers. Generals will not get a T3, they don't need it. The Juna Fruit will make Guy/Jaffar much more useful.

I'll buff all the pegasi significantly. They almost never are used on the final chapters.

What a shining star of an LP. I can expect a new LP of the massively altered final update complete with over 20 new ASM hacks, correct?
