Rydia Posted October 24, 2014 Share Posted October 24, 2014 really old news. the going theory is that it's got some connection to the french word viol, meaning "rape". it's very likely a blanket ban on anything containing "viol", rather than specifically targeting "violet", since basically everything containing it we could think of at the time proved to be censored as well I'm not sure it it's because I have the italian version (I will sooner or later buy an english one) But the whole Viol- thing doesn't happen here. It doesn't allow me to pick a couple of very offensive english words... but as far as I tested everything works smoothly with many italian or english insults somehow... I'm not screenshotting anything too blunt, of course, but Violet is here. I guess we've been a little luckier with name limitations? I find it rather interesting, thought, to see how they don't have a single 'banned words' database but they change it probably depending on the region or something.
