Sophia...can be worth it with sufficient favoritism (see Sophia in my Sig, who ate 9 stat boosters and proceeded to roll the entire game, although it could probably be argued that most characters with that ridiculous amount of investment could turn into an absolute monster...), although she's not quite as big of an Est as, say, Nino.

I love how Miledy joined, and within 2 chapters, has become by far your most capable combat unit (she does tend to turn out that way :D). She's honestly the greatest thing about FE6...

You were pretty spot on about Roy, by the way. He's supposed to be mediocre and with poor Res, but your Roy is...possibly the best Roy I've ever seen :D

Nine stat boosters?! Then yeah she would get good as long as she got good level ups... which momogeek seems to suggest--at least in respect to her Defense, haha! Oh I remember the days of Nino. Nowadays I just give the Afa's Drops to Heath the bias is strong with this one

And so easy to train too! Such blatant unbalancing, Intelligent Systems. Haha! She will be seeing the light of every map as long as she does me good.

This Roy is possibly the best Roy you have ever seen? I'm now very curious about his averages. I must restrain myself until the end of this LP. xD

It's been a while I did an alternate run, hasn't it? This time it's Chapter 10--now with more Shin, Noah, and Ogier and less Shanna.

[spoiler=Alternate 2 - *Lalum gets very close*]

chap%2010a%201_zpsuq7xjzta.pngchap%2010a%202_zpsymkil0d3.pngchap%2010a%203_zpsacjunuuq.png

Dedicating three screens to each island, game? I wonder if they will be majorly important to the overall FE6 plot.

Judging from my other run... maybe.

chap%2010a%205_zpscibw0ged.png

So I guess we're going to the actual mine? Going south we saved the people rather than going to the mine.

chap%2010a%207_zpscpdlpmbe.png

Another castle to seize.

chap%2010a%208_zpsds4kvto0.pngchap%2010a%209_zpsknth0kxf.png

Never want to trust a Shaman that looks like that.

They just look like the cloaked guys from FE4.

chap%2010a%2010_zpsp9xhi0eu.pngchap%2010a%2011_zps7rpbs4op.png

This is mistake number one.

Alternate Chapter 10 has lots of water, so I guess similar to main blind run's Chapter 11. A little switcheroo.

chap%2010a%2013_zpswk28ewii.png

Yay ballista. If I rush it, I can--

Wait no. I forgot I don't have Klain yet lol

chap%2010a%2014_zps0zirorai.pngchap%2010a%2015_zps5hgr525d.png

Either Pirates or Pegasus Knights come out of the fort across the sea. I can't guess what would come from the south forts.

chap%2010a%2016_zpseu3zhmrd.png

Only one village. Nice change of pace after the, like, seven villages in the main run's Chapter 10.

No Vendors, Armories, or Arenas. Interesting.

What are the enemy types this time?

chap%2010a%2017_zps9waljm9v.pngchap%2010a%2018_zpslbsscqhc.pngchap%2010a%2019_zpsvwgeb4zp.png

chap%2010a%2020_zps6oi1o9mr.pngchap%2010a%2021_zps1ao8q0r1.png

Mostly Fighters and Mercenaries. Ogier and Noah could bathe in EXP.

I don't know who to give the Berserker kill to.

Worrisome weapons:

chap%2010a%2022_zpsrcosi8mt.pngchap%2010a%2023_zpsjpjqjgwy.pngchap%2010a%2024_zpsrc80i9ae.png

Nosferatu, Halberd, and Killing Edge.

Let's look at the boss, Nord.

chap%2010a%2025_zpsq3enszzd.pngchap%2010a%2026_zpsrkk7n8v6.png

Druid. Bleh. Nosferatu Druid, more bleh.

I'm trying to limit myself on using Shanna and someone like Lilina would get WTD.

I still have the Barrier staff so it will work out.

A Level 5 promoted boss gives 100 EXP to a Level 16 unpromoted unit. Who to give the boss kill to...

After replenishing inventories, I'm picking these units:

chap%2010a%2027_zpsyq73pzy3.png

And then these deployment locations:

chap%2010a%2028_zpsd6ujxgdr.png

Cavaliers from left-to-right: Lance, Allen, and Noah.

With no new promoted units like Paladin!Allen to help me, let's begin Alternate Chapter 10!

chap%2010a%2029_zpscp4wrnbu.png

Just who do we get this time?

chap%2010a%2030_zpsxiobgijf.png

Ahhh. So this time the boss knows there is a spy in the resistance. Interesting route split.

chap%2010a%2032_zpsolfbxbd2.png

Oh! Lalum got caught this time!

chap%2010a%2034_zps8n0xkgrn.png

Just keep holding out, Lalum. We'll rescue you!

chap%2010a%2035_zpsbck8jfyh.png

His dark magicks will do all that he needs.

chap%2010a%2036_zpssomqqvu1.pngchap%2010a%2038_zpsuv4fwlpt.png

Well, I kind of don't want to go through now. Not without Lalum.

chap%2010a%2039_zpsyiejsjwf.pngchap%2010a%2040_zps8ztyrmtj.png

Not going to happen.

chap%2010a%2042_zps1kn87zay.pngchap%2010a%2043_zpskkjgf9tj.png

In a Fire Emblem game, a "messenger" means "none of my actual units."

Sure. Kill him. He was probably taking up my army's rations anyways.

chap%2010a%2044_zpsp1xzj1i2.png

All of one ballistae. Because five shots of one ballista to end my entire team makes sense.

chap%2010a%2046_zpsgc8xiusr.png

Strange how only this chapter of the route split tells you how the ballistae work. The other one just... had them without mentioning them.

It's not even a route split that makes sense to assume a beginner wouldn't get the other chapter. It's "pick a village, here you go."

I just find it very odd.

chap%2010a%2047_zpshfsdjvgq.png

Good. I need Ogier, Noah, and Shin to be trained.

chap%2010a%2050_zpsqql2c02m.png

Don't worry about the messenger, Roy. You won't need to worry about his needs anymore. I gave them permission and everything.

chap%2010a%2052_zpsuf0zttcd.png

Roy, do you not see that man's portrait? No decent person would have that portrait, complete with lacking eyes.

chap%2010a%2055_zps7bjxd4rl.png

You can learn that there is a dancer named Lalum in their dungeon. That's a start.

chap%2010a%2057_zpss9f5akmu.png

Huh? What is this a hint towards?

I guess Roy wants me to spare some of the enemies. I can... try.

Turn 1 enemy positions

chap%2010a%2058_zpsleh3enxt.png

This is risky but hopefully it will go well.

Ogier will guard the bridge from its south.

Shin charges ahead with Steel Bow in hand and goes for the northeast Fighter and his Hand Axe. Shin misses once but dodges the counter.

Noah and Clarine Rescue-Drop Shin to the west. Clarine moves to the space south of Roy.

After Lance moves to a space the southwest Mercenary can get him, Allen activates their A support. He then moves out of the way from the ballista and ranged enemies.

chap%2010a%2059_zpsdxrtazxu.png

This better go well. Shanna waits here.

Ogier dodges a Steel Axe Fighter's attack. He hits once and then crit-kills. He's 15 EXP from leveling.

Another dodge from a Steel Axe Fighter. Ogier cuts into him twice.

Ogier even parries a Steel Sword Mercenary.

chap%2010a%2061_zpsas2ybpbk.png

HP and Speed's nice, Ogier, but you need Strength.

Steel Sword Mercenary misses Lance.

chap%2010a%2062_zpsb1i8r3pd.png

Lance will gut you!

Hand Axe Fighter should have let his Archer buddy go for Ogier. He misses.

Turn 2

chap%2010a%2063_zpsdujihkn4.png

The Fighter I have the cursor on has the Halberd. My goal is to erase his existence.

Lilina takes care of the Fighter south of Ogier. A new level for her.

chap%2010a%2064_zpsudlvzhc2.png

The Mage on Bike could be realized even on my alternate run.

Roy goes with Rapier against the Halberd Fighter. Can he crit? Nope. But he is 2 EXP from leveling.

The south Mercenary has a Killing Edge. Allen rushes his way and misses hitting the Mercenary with his Javelin.

Shin lodges an Iron Bow arrow into the north Mercenary.

That was enough damage for Ogier to kill that Mercenary.

Noah swings his Iron Sword into the Halberd Fighter.

Rutger cuts into the Archer with Steel Sword twice, ending him. He levels up.

chap%2010a%2065_zpsqaw0annc.png

Yesssss, Rutger.

I'm going to have to risk Lance getting targeted from WTD. He goes in with Iron Lance a-swinging and kills the Killing Edge Mercenary with some damage. He's 4 EXP from 100.

Saul heals Lilina.

I may have a plan to get rid of that ballista pretty early.

chap%2010a%2066_zpsopjhwnw2.png

I will end Turn 2 with Jerrot going completely south.

Steel Sword Mercenary cuts into Rutger. Rutger nearly ends him in two hits.

Steel Axe Fighter thinks he can get Rutger. He can't. Rutger easily fells him.

Hand Axe Fighter misses Roy.

Hand Axe Fighter misses Rutger.

Another Hand Axe Fighter. Another miss for Rutger.

Ballista Archer actually goes for Jerrot! He hits.

Turn 3 enemy positions

chap%2010a%2067_zps0djaobma.png

That's a Steel Sword Mercenary off-screen north. That Archer I think moved during enemy phase. A Shaman is incoming.

Let me start with getting rid of enemies with the littlest amount of my units as I can without using special equipment.

Shin, with a Steel Bow arrow, kills off the northwest Fighter from the south. With this, Shin is just in range of the incoming Archer.

Roy softens up the south Fighter. He levels up.

chap%2010a%2068_zpsyqpxkmol.png

Now his Defense is equal to the main run's Roy's Defense

Does not compute

Lilina kills the weakened Fighter.

Rutger fells the Fighter with his Steel Sword.

I want Ogier to use the most of his movement so I will have Noah take the Mercenary kill despite being higher-leveled than Ogier... or he will miss a 83 hit and get hit back. FUCK NOAH.

Ogier misses a 90! YOU GUYS, WHAT EVEN. Mercenary misses Ogier.

I'm still going through with the plan. Lance and Shanna Rescue-Drop Jerrot across the river. Shanna's last movement allows her to move one space east.

Now it's Allen and Clarine's turn to Rescue-Drop Shanna out of range of the ballista. Take that!

chap%2010a%2069_zpsyvagx6p9.png

Saul will heal Noah, protecting Lilina from the Mercenary. Saul has enough Speed to not get doubled. Ending Turn 3.

Steel Sword Mercenary doesn't activate his 4 crit on Saul. He still is able to hit my healer.

Iron Bow Archer goes for Shin. He hits but Shin is able to double even with a Steel Bow. Ha ha! Archer collapses in defeat. Shin levels up!

chap%2010a%2070_zps20vjmpge.png

So excited for my Nomad Trooper!

Ballista Archer hits Jerrot.

Turn 4

chap%2010a%2071_zpsmwixaq43.png

Two things: take out the ballista Archer and be careful of provoking the Berserker.

But then I see this...

chap%2010a%2072_zpsxhbwlzdj.png

I landlocked Jerrot. OOPS

Lilina scorches the Mercenary to death and earns another level.

chap%2010a%2073_zpstajpww9q.png

I need more Speed, Lilina.

Roy initiaties his Lilina A support.

Rutger moves onto the bridge.

Clarine heals Rutger.

Saul heals Shin and levels up.

chap%2010a%2074_zpsmsjn033g.png

Terrible.

I'm going to have to do this Rescue-Drop business again.

Shanna and Lance Rescue-Drop Jerrot.

Allen and Ogier Rescue-Drop Shanna away from ballistae fire.

chap%2010a%2075_zpsfpongo0k.png

End Turn 4 like this.

Pirate reinforcement. Aha!

Berserker comes for Rutger's blood but doesn't manage to land a hit. Rutger crits and then slays the Berserker! HA! That's a level for Rutger!

chap%2010a%2076_zpsl1lctru2.png

Defense, Rutger? Sure.

Hand Axe Fighter will always miss Rutger.

Ballista Archer misses Jerrot.

At the village, Geese and the woman talk.

OH NO. THERE'S STILL ENEMIES NEARBY.

GEESE, NOOOOOO

Nothing seems to have changed for the conversation and Geese gets out...

chap%2010a%2079_zpstm6tqvvm.png

From this way. Interesting--but good. He's closer to Roy this way.

Geese is going around the north. Good!

Turn 5 enemy positions

chap%2010a%2080_zpss4ubvatn.png

So I get Geese first before I get Tate and Klain, I assume?

Let's kill some foes.

Roy weakens the Hand Axe Fighter without taking damage.

Noah kills off the Shaman but got hit in the process. Noah gets a level!

chap%2010a%2081_zpsnjsz2hix.png

Speed's good, Noah, but get other better stats eventually?

Before I drop you?

Rutger moves south so Lilina can take the Fighter kill.

Allen rushes south with his Iron Sword and engages the Mercenary. They trade blows.

This is so Shin can get the Mercenary kill.

Clarine heals Rutger and so she can get support points.

Saul physics Noah.

Turn 5 ends as such after Shanna waits:

chap%2010a%2082_zpsmfoeicfz.png

Steel Axe Fighter misses Noah. Noah doubles him.

Steel Sword Mercenary hits Allen. Allen misses an 80. This single RN or two RN system?

Ballista Archer goes for... Roy. Really? There was Lilina in range. Oh well.

Turn 6

chap%2010a%2083_zps9lpisgzb.png

Jerrot has a go with the Archer using his Hand Axe. He can't reach for direct attack.

chap%2010a%2085_zpsmfptyrzz.png

He may use his last ballista shot because of this, Jerrot.

Lance will intercept the Pirate with his Iron Sword.

Rutger and Clarine move out of the way.

Lilina kills the Fighter. She has B Anima now.

Shanna heads towards the village and house.

Saul heals Roy.

Noah switches to the Iron Lance and plunges it into the west Mercenary without taking damage.

Roy shows off his stuff by crit-killing the west Mercenary.

That leaves Allen to hit the Mercenary with his Iron Lance. They trade blows.

If my math is right, Allen will die from both the Mercenary and ballista bolt. I have Shin kill the Mercenary.

chap%2010a%2087_zpsgshvv9we.png

Shin ended up being the last unit to move and I forgot to screenshot the ending results for the turn. This was taken when the enemy phase just barely started.

At the castle, Nord speaks to Gonzales to destroy the village. Gonzales is now in this map? There's only one village though... so seems like a missed opportunity.

Nord pretty much says the same thing as the boss to the mini-boss from the main Chapter 10. He even insults Gonzales again.

Jeez. What is everyone's problem with Gonzales?

chap%2010a%2091_zpspqtldryj.png

Gonzales pops out to the south of the castle.

Poison Axe Pirate takes on Lance. He misses and Lance hits back twice. Lance levels up.

chap%2010a%2092_zpsetd5jaip.png

Lance, Strength please.

There's another Pirate reinforcement. I didn't see that guy before.

Gonzales is on the move.

Ballista Archer hits Roy. No more bolts for him!

Turn 7

chap%2010a%2093_zpskvswyau9.png

Gonzales is the red dot to the west of the castle.

Alright. Lilina needs to be somewhat in range of Gonzales.

I need Geese to be near Roy. This shouldn't be a problem.

Rutger kills the Archer.

Saul heals Allen.

I might as well have Ogier intercept the Pirates. I have Ogier start heading back.

Shanna and Noah Rescue-Drop Geese across the land.

Roy recruits Geese. Hurray!

Shanna's in danger so Lance kills off the Pirate. His sword rank is now D.

chap%2010a%2094_zpsgycp3bo2.png

Allen and Shin off-screen. Allen is three paces south of Lilina. Shin is just south of him.

I will end the turn without moving Jerrot.

Another Pirate reinforcment!

Turn 8

chap%2010a%2095_zpsmkbjv0qa.png

Gonzales can move across the water but he has to spend his entire turn moving onto the river. It's pretty easy to catch up to him.

So far this Chapter 10 is much easier than the other one.

Saul heals Lilina.

Lilina heads towards Gonzales.

Shanna returns to making her way towards the village.

Lance moves towards the rest of the group.

Noah rescues Roy and starts a Rescue-chain as such: Jerrot moving south and then Allen placing Roy on the bridge before protecting his lord from the south. There are still two forts there and who knows if there are reinforcements in them.

chap%2010a%2096_zpskwpakcnv.png

Accidentally ended the turn again by using the last unit's action. Here's the southern part of my army.

Turn 9

chap%2010a%2097_zpskzla0uxs.png

North blue units, from left to right: Ogier, Lance, Shanna

Under the mini-map, from top to bottom: Saul, Geese, Lilina

Ogier takes out the Steel Axe Pirate with his Steel Sword.

Lilina recruits Gonzales. The same recruitment talk again.

Shanna visits the village, which is about Lalum and her adventures as a resistance member helping the village.

chap%2010a%2099_zpsfskgyzye.png

That's about all a GBA Dancer/Bard can do. Smuggle weapons without having to bring Merlinus.

And the lady gives us a Swordreaver. Compared to the other Chapter 10, to get everything, it's harder but there's much better stuff--including two Swordreavers.

I don't know which one I would prefer.

Afterwards, Shanna makes her way towards the sole house on the map.

Saul heals Lance.

Gonzales moves out of the way from the Shaman.

Noah gets in range of the Pirate with his Iron Sword.

Jerrot and Allen block the forts for the time being.

Shin gets in range of the Shaman.

chap%2010a%20102_zpsel2iluhb.png

The more important units are shown. Clarine will wait here, ending Turn 9.

Another Pirate reinforcement.

Poison Axe Pirate misses Noah. Noah counters.

Nosferatu Shaman takes the Shin bait. He hits but he's already at full health. Shin slaughters him for a level up.

chap%2010a%20103_zpszcle2aas.png

Shin please

Turn 10

No more beginning turn screenshots since nearing the end.

I notice that Geese has the Brave Axe and no other equipment.

Why would he have the Brave Axe? Shouldn't that be on Bartre?

Hm. Interesting. I have no idea what that means... other than Bartre either is on the next map with normal equipment or... I didn't get him at all.

Hrm.

Geese kills the Pirate.

Shanna visits the house, where a woman talks about the brigands and pirates.

chap%2010a%20106_zpsgmvwitla.png

I WAS SUPPOSED TO SPARE SOME, WASN'T I?

I FORGOT I WAS GOING TO DO THAT.

Welp! I better not have Ogier take more kills.

As for the boss, I think I'll have Allen or any Level 14 unit take the kill. I really may need to drop Noah even though I like his character.

Ogier's... he may be a drop too. As much as I want a Hero, I have too many units, I think.

Pretty much everyone's moving south. I'll have Ogier leave the Pirates alone.

I do Rescue-Dropping so Lance and Rutger can be closer to the boss.

Turn 11

Another Pirate reinforcement. Still leaving them alone.

Saul heals Shin.

Clarine gives support bonuses to Rutger as he places himself in front of the boss with his Killing Edge.

On enemy phase...

chap%2010a%20107_zpslqvm90th.pngchap%2010a%20108_zpsw4xdgtep.png

Even if you hit, I should be fine.

He misses and Rutger crits--twice! OVERKILL

chap%2010a%20109_zpsuai0alc2.pngchap%2010a%20110_zpscxcs4eqc.png

Says the one who had the Nosferatu tome.

Rutger levels up!

chap%2010a%20111_zpsocgzdjvw.png

I'll take more Strength. Thanks, Rutger.

For more turns, I'll have Saul staffspam.

Another Pirate reinforcement on Turn 12's enemy phase.

chap%2010a%20112_zpshz9y0xgk.png

More Magic and Speed is good for you, Saul.

By Turn 15, and after Rutger and Clarine get A support, I seize. Does something change by leaving three Pirates alive?

chap%2010a%20115_zpsowkuvacg.png

I don't know if this had anything to do with the Pirates and Brigands thing.

chap%2010a%20116_zpsp5ingrzc.png

You actually suggest something REASONABLE for once.

I still think you're the worst character in this game.

chap%2010a%20117_zpsz4yndh2d.png

Let's get her out of there.

chap%2010a%20118_zpsk61oykrc.png

Now don't get in Roy's space again because he apparently doesn't want girls that close... despite his harem.

She and Roy confirm that he's here to save people from the bandits.

chap%2010a%20120_zpsmbl19mzs.png

That's even worse than before!

Roy's like "whoa!" and Merlinus tries to pry Lalum from Roy's harem. This will not be effective.

I swear Roy and Lalum have a support. I will have to investigate.

chap%2010a%20124_zpstecynr6l.pngchap%2010a%20125_zpspr1vhraj.png

Roy asked if the resistance was the one fighting the bandits. Lalum's like yes but actually no.

Lalum repeats to us about what Etruria is doing: abusing the people in the Western Isles by working them to death in the mines.

chap%2010a%20128_zpsmvb2vcp9.png

This is our plan of attack.

Lalum is very distressed and Roy tells her to calm down and tell him what she's upset about.

chap%2010a%20129_zpse5uhkfjf.png

Lalum thinks he was tortured, hence why he leaked.

Was he? I wouldn't know. I visited the village and the house and there was no sign of this.

chap%2010a%20131_zps8ribq0wh.png

Then let's go!

chap%2010a%20132_zpszuvopsca.pngchap%2010a%20133_zpswmvzv04y.png

These two will be placed next to each other.

...but I A supported Roy/Lilina. Dang it.

chap%2010a%20134_zps4hwgixxd.png

And we get the Wyrmslayer like with Elphin.

chap%2010a%20135_zps9lb3irty.png

Echidna? I swear I saw her before... but I can't say what class she is.

She is a unit I can recruit. That I know for sure.

Will I meet Echidna next time on the alternate run? Just where are Klain and Tate?

Interesting fact about Gonzales: If you compare him across the two routes, you'll see he has the same base stats, but starts at level 5 this route as opposed to level 11 (Also, C axes as opposed to D) on the original route! No clue why IS did it like that, but it means you're pretty much forced to go this route if you want to use Gonzales.

As for Roy...almost every LP I've ever seen has had an insanely screwed Roy, and yours is pretty good (and therefore best I've ever seen)

As for Sophia...it took 9 stat boosters, insane care and feeding, and amazing stat blessedness to make her into the killing machine that she was. Normally, she really isn't worth the effort...

[spoiler=Chapter 13-1 - *I'm not teased anymore*]

18_zpsceywn0ol.png19_zpsznm4fk9o.png

Not too far away is Perceval, who's packing the stats. He only has a Silver Lance... but that's the thing, he only has a Silver Lance. He's not going to be afraid of murdering any of my units with it.

57_zps3s9ivv0r.png

58_zpsbgu9x8gy.png

WELL FUCK. CECILIA MIGHT BE DEAD FOR SURE.

But first...

72_zpsugz1dfl0.png

SHARPEN YOUR KEN.

73_zpsrrjodu4b.png

+5 HP and +3 Def. EXCELLENT.

74_zpsyjv25gxx.png

With these stats and 41 PURE crit chance, you can bet the crit is real for Rutger.

In another cutscene, Zephiel steps up to Cecilia and greets her. Shortly after, they commence combat. OH NO

78_zpsjksrgcny.png

Oh Cecilia no... no... Cecilia...

Just lie down and try to pretend you're dead. No... Cecilia...

79_zpskzptryfj.png

Oh boy...

He does a swirl and twirl and lands a crit on Cecilia. Ah... Cecilia...

120_zps5i0c6efz.png

Sad music shift.

Your father was scum and tried to kill Zephiel. Now Zephiel's taking his daddy issues onto the world.

Zephiel's all, "How can you say people are innocent? Men get afflicted with emotions like jealousy, greed, vanity and kill each other out of those petty emotions."

125_zpsoayozq4o.png

Start with yourself, buddy.

Guinivere's still on about how there are so many people being killed for his change. Zephiel says a few worthless lives are nothing for the change he wants.

Changed so hard from FE7. I wonder how I would have felt if I played FE6 first and then FE7. Hm...

Zephiel shows a minor form of compassion by saying to Guinivere that she is his only blood relative left. He is willing to forgive her trechery for one time but will not forgive the next instance.

Zephiel asks if the head of Guinivere's guard is present.

Narcian, Zephiel, and Guinivere enter the castle. The castle is open to be seized... for now.

Silver Lance Paladin sinks his 21 damage lance into Shanna. OW! Shanna goes for a glorious counter with the Horseslayer. It's the duel of the high-damage attacks!

Silver Lance Paladin hits Jerrot. Jerrot hits him back once and gains a level up.

136_zpsqerelr5n.png

Not bad.

175_zps7svge66m.png

Aaaaaaaahhhhhhh

Sorry. I just love the Wyvern Rider class so much. Since you get them later in the game, I get so excited each and any time (yes, even on repeated playthroughs) I get one.

Except for Luck and Resistance, of course, Milady is looking great. She could do with more Speed since she's not going to be able to double many enemies with a Steel Lance.

I should have an Iron Lance and Javelin in the convoy with her name on it.

Needless to say, YES I'M USING HER.

HAHAHA YES

193_zpsyfek04rj.png

The Nabata Desert? Not the desert!

194_zpscnjdeiix.png

The hidden village Nergal and Athos were said to have stayed in? That place?

196_zpsx16fcnkl.png

Oh not this place again.

If there's Fog of War I swear I will choke someone.

197_zpslc93b4w1.png

Outnumbered by what?

198_zpssm6qjcqv.png

That village will be mine!

Zephiel says Narcian better not disappoint him.

While I'm around, this is blatant lies.

Camus had a Gravious.
That's what were good at poor deluded fool!
Yeah, but the fort +30 avoid bonus will help even the odds and that Aircalibur is a lightweighted tome!
An offical boss killer.

Is this what you were trying to do?
He's died ever since that day. -.-
Awakening DLC shows of how he would be if it weren't for his dad.
Yes, but it was also us that always corrected things is what she should have said to him. -.-
Bold: Actually, this game is before FE7. FE7's only the prequel of this game to show on how he turned into the game that your playing now!
That's the effective way to battle units that are stronger than you. You do this to Camus' battle too with the Wingslayer Caeda for instance.
You won't regret it!
Hint for your next Gaiden chapter. ;)
Survival of the idiots. xP

[spoiler=Chapter 13-2 - *More Unchaining*]

258_zpsfotdieaq.png

The Wyvern Rider with the cursor on it has a Horseslayer. Better keep Allen and Jerrot out of range. Lance would just explode on contact.

Horseslayer Wyvern Rider misses Lilina. She's safe from death for the turn! Lilina smokes herself some Wyvern Wings. Her Fire breaks but she has another Fire that she equips. 2 EXP from leveling.

The other Wyvern Rider hits Roy. Roy hits once and then crits.

261_zps7vo4a5x5.png

MORE SPEED

If she keeps getting Speed, I will run out of things to call her.

277_zpsxuil4lhw.png

It's not Strength or defensive stats but okay.

305_zpsoywqo7hf.png

Milady, no!

Much better, Milady!

Too bad that they're not edible like KFC chicken.
She's loving u. ^.^
Yeah, but she's blessed. XD
Bad Miledy. BAD. DD:
Good Miledy. :D
Oh that's good!
Further hurting our morale's. -.-

Take this advice. Deploy Milady on every map. Feed her as much as possible. Promote her ASAP. Give her the impossible tasks, solo missions. Give her your strongest weapons.

She

She's uber tier for a reason. This.

I have a hint for you, keep Sophia alive!
...And what momo said...Miledy should be used in every playthrough.
Lilina should be used in every run as well.

[spoiler=Chapter 14.1 - *Sophia ruins everything*]

13_zpsm8fb3lig.png

You're... Igrene, right? Hawkeye's daughter.

And that's Fae, who turns into some chicken dragon or something.

46_zpshyhaujeb.png

wat

WOW THOSE ARE SOME BAD STATS

NOT SINCE WENDY

OHHHHH DAMN

Sophia. Um. She's an Est, I'm guessing?

She at least has an advantage on this map. The dragons are one-range and can't move beyond two spaces because of desert. But... my gosh.

Being a female Shaman makes her definitely unique but those bases at this late in the game.

Sorry I cannot. I don't even have a Guiding Ring.

And I wouldn't be surprised if the Guiding Ring was here in the map.

105_zps9j7ixqdd.png106_zpspobfogr1.png

If this Devil Axe Berserker crits, I'm done for.

148_zpsxu3fa4ss.png

SERIOUSLY, SOPHIA. DAMN YOU FOR BEING WEAK.

ARGH

And I have a feeling she was needed for the gaiden requirement. FUCK.

I've calmed down by now. I'll try to get the rest of the playthrough soon. I have already thought up a strategy to deal with Sophia.

The next post might just be limited to level ups and new content. Until then...

I have a hint for you, keep Sophia alive here!

Feel the wrath of Fazilla. XD
You get one in this map. Find it!
Only with a 79%
Which it'll backfire by -21.
It calculates by -31 of backfiring.
Since he has 10 luck, it's -21.
All that has to go to waste with a reset. -.-

[spoiler=Chapter 14.2 - *Rise Above, Milady!*]

How about no?

The light since you cannot crit by attacking at 2 range only always doing 10DMG.

8_zps7uoly0cg.png9_zpsbrarint7.png

I would maybe consider this one the worst of the desert items. That hit rate is pretty bad (though on par of the Hand Axe). Nice Might but pretty bad Weight.

5_zpsw3hv8asr.png

Right I was, but what did she get?

6_zpsqopiuo0z.png

There's three rings it can be without Ninian's rings: the Energy Ring, the Body Ring, and the Guiding Ring. She's a magic user.

They didn't

THEY DIDN'T

7_zpsjofdp3ds.png

THAT COULD HAVE BEEN SAUL'S

SOPHIA YOU

AAAAAAGH!

Other than XL blades raising your weapon ranks faster with you getting awarded 2 pts every strike and 4 upon every kill, otherwise stick to what your already using.
Not to fret.
You can also get one in Ch18A/20B. Of course there is another one after this one, but it's pointless since it's near the very end of the game.

Rip Guiding riiiiiiiiing

Yeah.
Say goodbye to most contested item in the entire game! D:

biasbiasbias

Oh dang. She's really not worth it, huh? That's a darn shame.

rip Guiding Ring ;-; Hopefully another one comes up. Saul needs it so badly now.

Thanks for believing in me! 8')

In hindsight, it was good to drop Clarine. I forget from time to time that even if I try my hardest, because this is blind, I'm still going to be missing things. I just hope for a guaranteed Guiding Ring, else all the effort put into Saul will be wasted, haha.

*This first part ends before Turn 8

The temple door to a legendary tome has been opened to us! Sophia senses that the weapon is still in its proper place, but Bern is on the move to get the legendary weapon...

[spoiler=Chapter 14x-1 - *Big Cracks of Bolting*]

38_zps1pamhcqc.png39_zpswcyyj3dc.png40_zpsefbmxwc2.png

Forblaze, was it? Unfortunate how only he could wield it in FE7. I would have loved to see Priscilla use Forblaze.

That is why that she is in my Smash 4 games.

He's supposed to be mediocre and with poor Res, but your Roy is...possibly the best Roy I've ever seen :D

...And that Res he doesn't really need, but I should at one point in one of my runs shovel 5 Talismens onto him one of these days. :D

I didn't notice, but that's odd! You even get Geese earlier in the alternate route so I'm really not sure what Intelligent Systems was thinking if they wanted Gonzales to be stronger than Geese.

Ahhh. I see. It's still going to be interesting to me when I finally get to compare my Roy to average Roy.

Well, I guess the good news is that she is able to become a killing machine with much investment... as opposed to mediocre with much investment.

Zephiel_Crit_zps987cb915.gif

Is this what you were trying to do?

I was running out of screenshot space. In that particular screenshot, I assumed that was his critical animation before the killing blow. Does he not do the swing in the normal one?

Sorry for the delay, everyone. Got a little busy again.

In a small period of the time I was busy, I finally got the "brilliant" idea to keep two ROMs of the game--one to do the main run and the other to do the alternate. I have outsmarted the system of three saves!--It just only took me this long to figure out!

i r smrt

With that out of the way, let's proceed to Chapter 15, where Fae was supposedly following us. Did she get herself into trouble?

[spoiler=Chapter 15.1 - *I would die for Perceval*]

2_zpsl870rlec.png

Soon I will know what class she is.

3_zpslivscryl.png4_zpsrkqimosz.png

Dammit, old man! I can't leave for one second without someone having a problem!

You can't even watch one kid properly!

6_zpsw0hkfy3a.png7_zpsjpre4h7f.png

Tiki 2.0 brainwashed by Gharnef 2.0. I anticipate this.

8_zps1nttgzoc.png

Like it could be anything else BUT a fort, castle, or throne.

9_zpshuilurrt.png

I can't tell if this is the best or the worst designed map I have seen so far.

10_zpsjrqlo1sc.png

I'm thinking reinforcements are going to chase me from here. I mean, I honestly couldn't tell you why. It can't be because I don't start here, the furthest away from the center as a foot unit. Nope.

Except, you know, I don't have just foot units.

11_zpsduyb8rz3.png

I could have Shanna and Milady slaughter this center group and then carry Roy safely inside. I should check for other features of the map first.

12_zpsruz7qcuv.png13_zpsprwxhl4s.png

Two villages. One's in close proximity of my group and the other is just along the road.

That Vendor is the only service building this chapter.

Let's take a look at the enemy line-up:

14_zpsx4uvsfwd.png15_zpsqdadblcs.png16_zps93qagfot.png

17_zpswv6g8fpp.png18_zpsxi8ud6zc.png19_zpsaidx4udb.png

Most of them are Mercenaries, Archers, and Cavaliers. There's a few Snipers in the mix. They're trying to prevent me from getting in the center via Rescue-ferrying fliers.

A couple Valkyries too. Now that's an insult. Not only can they be tough to beat but they give less EXP--at least in FE7.

There are a couple Cavaliers with Horseslayers, couple Mercenaries with an Armorslayer, a Mercenary with a Killing Edge, a Valkyrie with Physic, and the other Valkyrie with Aircalibur.

Silver Bow Sniper just to say halt to Milady. Accursed x3 effectiveness is too strong for Milady's defenses. You can even think of it as x4 effectiveness because the Sniper happens to have the same Strength as the Silver's Might (13).

There are no stealables.

Boss spotlight goes to...

20_zpscj99b5wg.png21_zpsck5mqcwf.png

Matthis' non-cowlick brother.

8 Speed Paladin. At this point in the game. Are you real?

He's boasting 26 Attack and respectable Defense so I guess the beta Great Knight. Were there Great Knights in Gaiden?

Either way, this guy will be owned hard by a competent magic user.

Being that he's a Level 8 boss, though, kind of a let down for my promoted units. Only a Level 19 unpromoted can get 100 EXP out of him. The only one who qualifies as that now is Roy. Poor, poor Roy.

22_zpsypcnbdmc.png

And even then he's only going to get 90 of that 100 EXP.

Matthis 2.0 sucks.

Speaking of Roy, the unpromoted enemies here are around his level. He should get about 23-27 EXP per kill. Maybe Roy will get his final level this chapter. Won't that be something!

This map has no place for utility so...

23_zpsq9lueayk.png

All systems: full power.

Be prepared, for Milady comes now with a Silver Lance. Full AS is a yes.

24_zpsokvcr0bi.png

I have a plan for at least the first turn. I think that Silver Lance Wyvern Rider from the north can kindly go die if this goes accordingly.

Time to begin!

25_zpslpw927dx.png

Succinct.

26_zpshggjuxl6.png

Fiends! Unhand her!

27_zpszqoutwx5.png28_zps0xym847w.png

So he didn't want to capture her? It's all his subordinates' fault?

I will still not withhold my hammer of judgment.

29_zps8vqtpixl.png30_zpsrgscnxpe.png

Dammit, Fae. You shouldn't be carrying that all willy-nilly.

31_zpsj9otrlzv.png32_zpsz2opn6fy.png33_zpsh4xwjpay.png34_zpsteoblrw6.png

Apparently the soldier was involved in the invasion of Lycia. The boss is figuring out Fae is not exactly like the others but still related to the other dragons.

35_zpsigjpignz.png

We are the Lycian Army. We are here to be conveniently here to ruin your plans.

36_zpsnacoigdq.png

Are you serious

Was I supposed to bring Cecilia

Fffffffffff

Please no Perceval

40_zpsn4vmuyel.png41_zpsq0hrdhrd.png43_zps28fhp2up.png

What sort of evil person would he be if he wasn't a hypocrite?

45_zpsriysnjg0.png

I can see Douglas' fate ending badly from this statement alone.

46_zps9fobsdlc.png

The same can go for this statement. Except I don't want it to be true.

Perceval, you were cool!

47_zpswotuoqij.png48_zpsqk6j3czc.png49_zpsghjh8j3j.png

Please don't do this to me, Perceval.

50_zpsh0j7e46u.png51_zpszo7g5x1b.png52_zpstageva4p.png

This may lead me to conscript him. Of which I will GLADLY do.

Also this may be good if he's starting from there. Part of my plan has some units hold the rear.

54_zpsfogym4xn.png

Please suggest he join my side.

55_zps8gnwqqsa.png56_zpsnhab8enl.png

What is the meaning of this?!

57_zpsmnsk08ia.png

And so Douglas' fate has been written. To be likely dead at the end of my blade. Such a sad fate.

58_zpsi6exdoiu.png59_zpsyxbrmxjt.png

And so Perceval's fate has been written. To be likely added to my team.

I hope. I REALLY hope.

60_zpscr98lrgf.png

Oh? So I'm not fighting them?

61_zpsn39qzujx.png

Shuu, shuu, Perceval. Just do what he says.

62_zpskdhexftz.png

Oh get on out of here, you. I will not have you ruin this.

64_zpsn7cahubk.png65_zpsljyvctwi.png

PERCEVAL, PLEASE NO

66_zpsrd7c6q48.png

I don't like this music. If it's any indication that I won't get Perceval...

67_zpskiqvktkj.png

You all should be sorry. Fae's only a kid.

68_zps1ekkaflo.png

Wow, Igrene. You would leave Fae to be in the castle all by her lonesome? Damn.

69_zpsdzrxp8mj.png70_zpszmkszaxq.png

That is true.

71_zpswi0buehx.png

I highly doubt that would work well when I can see her pointy ears in her sprite.

Roy's all "Dragonstone?" for our obligatory "explain what a Dragonstone is" to the audience.

74_zpsa5ij7ep3.png

Roy distinguishes between Manaketes/dragons and the unhumans. At least he doesn't stereotype, I guess?

76_zpsa6fprxkr.png

Do the ones across the Dragon's Gate do the same thing?

77_zpsuyktmqch.png

What's the bad news?

78_zpsns2wsjmy.png79_zpseaafs84b.png

Time to do some castle-crashing.

80_zpsctt2y1eu.png81_zpsk9tgx2lu.png82_zpsra7chbhi.png

Stop with the chatter and let's hustle-hustle!

And coming out of Roy is Igrene!

83_zpsny1vwju1.png

You what, Igrene?

You're a Level 2 Sniper with better bases than Klain would at Level 2?! What's the catch, woman?!

If you turn out to have decent growths then fuck that guy, I'm using you!

84_zps2xxrkbr6.png

Also: hi, how's it going, Perceval's group.

They were the reinforcements I was anticipating. Hopefully Roy can recruit Perceval and not Cecilia. I really hope the game isn't that cruel to lock me out of him without Cecilia.

Turn 1 east enemy placement:

85_zps3ro3qzy5.png

While feeding Roy these kills would be nice and all, I got other plans for him--even before Perceval arrived on the scene.

Roy equips the Wyrmslayer and siddles up to Allen's south.

Allen and Milady do a Rescue-Drop so Roy ends up on a mountain in range of the Wyvern Rider. Milady waits right there.

Elphin plays Rutger.

Rutger proceeds to kill himself a Mercenary with his Steel Sword. He takes no damage and even crit-kills the Mercenary on the second strike. He's 1 EXP from leveling.

Lilina moves east to give Roy her support bonus.

Merlinus gives Igrene some Iron Bow and Steel Bow charges just so I can show her off.

Lance and Geese Rescue-Drop Igrene more east.

86_zpsbcbubkev.png

Turn 1 ending positions

Perceval's group is on the move!

Steel Sword Mercenary misses Rutger and quickly see his life end before his eyes as Rutger crit-kills him.

87_zpsfc5a52cl.png

Rutger will continue his crit'ing and... tanking Mages?

Silver Lance Wyvern Rider would be threatening if Roy wasn't on a mountain and getting Lilina support bonus, leaving him to have 11 hit chance. Roy's Attack is just exact to end him. Suck on that, WTA!

Turn 2

88_zpsthaoisz5.png

Perceval's group in sight since they're the most threatening and are coming in close. Near Rutger, from north to south, is a Aircalibur Valkyrie and a Steel Lance Cavalier.

Thankfully, Perceval has no ranged weaponry. But I wonder if his group is like Klain and Tate's group back in Chapter 10. If I spare them, will I get a Knight's Crest?

Would I get a Knight's Crest? Lance could finally excel beyond his limit!

Thus for this turn I will not be in his Cavaliers' range.

First thing I want to do is show off Igrene.

89_zpsnn0e8fen.png

Honestly wasn't expecting those colors. And she reminds me more of a Sniper Clarine. Must be because her battle sprite isn't tanned.

Shots are fired as Igrene and the Archer go at each other. She comes out victorious.

Klain can't double the Aircalibur Valkyrie but neither can she. I put him in range of her so maybe Klain can finally get going on his levels.

Lance visits the village. A woman is there to confirm that, indeed, Fae was taken there and we should go save her. She's willing to part a tome her priest had.

93_zpso0s9ib1x.png

Murdering clergy, eh, people? Now what do you have to prove by doing that?

She gives me a Divine. I can't use this. Sophia barred me from using this. Thanks, Sophia!

Lance uses the rest of his movement to go to Igrene's northwest.

Elphin plays Saul for EXP.

94_zpsutdv5zhh.png

Shanna is to Milady's northwest. I have the two parked there so foot units can get on that cliff and in case I should start rescuing Roy.

I did not anticipate a Longbow Archer. I would be somewhat scared if the hit chance wasn't 6.

Aircalibur Valkyrie and Klain hit each other. He can two-round her but she has to three-round. Poor Valkyrie.

Turn 3

96_zpszlfohjsa.png

I have you now, Perceval!

97_zpskz5feots.png

What

NOOOOOOOOOO You can't be serious!

How was I supposed to know he was coming?! They said at Aquelia! This isn't Aquelia! This is on the road to Aquelia! That doesn't count!

...

Dammit, game. Now I have to bring Cecilia the next time. Unless I can attempt something.

I have Roy attack Perceval. Perhaps he will join me on battle or something. This wouldn't be the last time they do this coughSHINONcough. This is a very dumb idea but I really don't want to go on without Perceval.

No battle quote. Roy strikes and Perceval misses.

Klain rids himself of the Valkyrie as I figure out what to do for Perceval. He's 15 away from leveling.

Steel Lance Cavalier meets Geese's mighty Iron Axe to the face twice until dead. Geese still hasn't shown off his crit.

Allen kills off the Steel Lance Cavalier with his Iron Axe. Cavalier has no hit chance and dies quick. Allen's 4 EXP from leveling.

Lilina burns Perceval some from a mountain. Still nothing from Perceval. She's close to leveling as well.

...

I really will have to kill him off this playthrough, won't I? Otherwise, I would have to hope for someone dying... which I don't want to deliberately do.

Fuck my life.

98_zpsy63j0vnl.png

I salute you good sir. You fought valiantly. But alas, our marriage as army and great Paladin was not meant to be.

I shall you see you later, just like I did with Shin.

But for now, I put my hat to my chest in silence.

...

Let's do this.

Shanna misses! And then she eats a Silver Lance. She hits on counter.

Milady misses too with her Iron Sword. Perceval hits her. Well! Maybe I will have to restart soon after all!

Elphin can't reach Lilina and I don't want Saul to use a Physic since he's already capped...

...

You know what. Fuck it. I will restart gladly for Perceval.

Elphin plays Geese.

Igrene and Lance Rescue-Drop Elphin closer to Roy's group.

99_zps5zzmxmjt.png

Moment of truth is at hand.

100_zpsrdtk3fea.png

FUCK OFF

This is like what happened back at Chapter 9! Stop doing this!

101_zpsl0o5emd5.png

Yes, yes, I know, you will pillage my village but I WANT TO KNOW THIS OUTCOME SO KINDLY GO AWAY

102_zpshhvjt89f.png103_zps3hlwfupx.png104_zps5ggsxypx.png

He a recruitable character? Or no? How strange.

Now that that cutscene is over, does someone die?

Shanna doesn't die.

105_zpsw5dkwnro.png

NOOOOOOOOOOOO

Steel Lance Cavalier misses Roy. Roy hits back. His Iron Sword breaks.

Steel Lance Cavalier misses Roy. Roy's next weapon was the Rapier. He crit-kills. NOOOOOOOOOOO

Javelin Cavalier misses Roy. WHAT THE HECK, GUYS. A WEAK SHANNA WAS RIGHT THERE. YOU IMBECILES.

Turn 4

106_zpsreqgokmu.png

I hate you all.

107_zpsojl1skdj.png108_zpsibv3hyos.png

This is the guy that showed up. I would assume he is a mini-boss and thus counts for boss EXP bonus.

He's not that impressive of an EXP fodder, however. Level 1 promoted boss doesn't mean 100 EXP for anyone.

Let's play a game. Can Shanna or Milady die without being healed at all? Are they so badass that they can dodgetank or tank this entire chapter? Let's find out.

Because dammit, Perceval. You just had to be the god unit in your group and all your Cavaliers are SHIT.

Geese enters the southeast forest. He may be able to tank all those enemies.

Roy crit-kills the south Cavalier with his Rapier.

Elphin plays Roy.

Roy switches to the Steel Sword and kills the other Cavalier with no difficulties. He's 3 EXP from leveling.

It's time to test if Milady and Shanna can cooperate and take out the middle section. I conceed and have Lilina heal Shanna up. There is a Silver Bow Sniper. I am not anticipating one of them to survive, which will give me incentive to try again with Perceval.

109_zpslciamrkc.png

More Magic? Sure.

Milady kills the Mercenary with her Iron Sword. She gets hit in the process.

Shanna ends the Archer with her Iron Lance.

110_zpsmtv3ir51.png

Can I now finally have my moment of truth at hand?

Steel Lance Cavalier doesn't get to sink his lance into Milady before he dies.

Javelin Cavalier hits Milady.

Steel Sword Mercenary misses Milady. She slaughters him.

Horseslayer Cavalier doesn't quite understand that Geese isn't on a horse.

111_zpsb9tjdmur.png

I guess Geese was quite insulted about that.

Steel Lance Cavalier gets ended by Geese.

Longbow Archer misses Geese.

Silver Bow Sniper hits Geese. Well. That doesn't bode good news for Milady or Shanna.

112_zpsuogpquss.png

So despite I think the Sniper had a better chance with Milady, he went for Shanna. With a 29 hit chance.

What a badass.

I swear if Perceval doesn't get on my team through Cecilia, I think I know what I must do.

Also, Percival COULD be the Camus archetype! You never know, DUN DUN DUN!

Whichever parts of insight were accurate, I'm just going to say, "Guessing." And anticipating the worst. XD

Nooooooo, not the Camus! Why do the Camus's always got to be so badass but untouchable?! ;^;

This was extremely short! I probably missed reinforcements and any turn-based events if there were any...

Does bringing Cecilia guarantee a Perceval recruitment? This better be worth it since I restarted.

[spoiler=Chapter 15.2 - *The Quickest Map*]

1_zps2fer61em.png

You will be mine, Perceval!--I hope!

Cecilia is replacing Lance, even in formation. Not like Lance can contribute much anyways other than support bonuses.

For the first couple of turns, I'm going to do the same kind of strategy I did before. Roy will get on the mountain to utterly decimate the Wyvern Rider and Cecilia will get the village but then come upwards towards Roy, as Perceval has Roy's scent.

2_zps5yrxwnah.png

Rutger gets the same level up.

On Turn 2, a little different. Lilina heals up Igrene for staff EXP. Elphin plays for Cecilia so she can get into position.

3_zps1as2lwus.png

New ending positions of Turn 2.

Klain and the Valkryie still hit each other.

Turn 3

4_zpsouvzhpg7.png

Can I now get Perceval?

5_zpsazdkunye.png

You're kidding!

Well!

I can't think of any other way to get Perceval other than leave him alone. Because I swear he's recruitable. You can't just set me up like that and then say he's not.

At least Camus didn't suggest he was defecting.

Milady goes into the center and kills the Silver Bow Sniper with her Iron Sword.

Shanna equips her Iron Lance and rescues Roy.

Elphin plays Shanna.

Shanna drops Roy onto another mountain in the center and takes her position to Milady's south.

I have Cecilia on the mountain attack Perceval to see if there is a battle quote.

6_zpsilgqodaq.png

That is a negatory. Looks like these two Etrurian Generals are going to be fighting it out until I can seize the castle.

Cecilia misses.

Perceval's Speed is pretty high. I'll have Allen with his Iron Lance choke the point with Cecilia until Roy can seize the castle.

Klain and the Valkyrie miss each other.

Lilina heals Klain.

Igrene takes out the Valkyrie.

Rutger hits once, dodges, and then crit-kills the Cavalier with his Iron Sword.

7_zpsjgoohxex.png

Milady to Shanna's north.

Merlinus moves to Elphin's south, ending Turn 3.

The village-pillaging bandits step in. I plan to take the village and then seize really quickly. Combat EXP is going to be pretty low with not many promoted enemies to feed my promoted units.

Perceval lodges his Silver Sword into Cecilia. Cecilia misses. I didn't see he could double Cecilia but she dodges that. Phew.

Steel Lance Cavalier hits Milady. Milady hated that bruise for she crit-kills in retaliation.

Steel Lance Cavalier suicides on Allen.

Another Steel Lance Cavalier suicides on Allen.

8_zpso5kdv90r.png

More Strength is cool

I forgot Roy was still equipped with the Wyrmslayer as a Javelin Cavalier misses Roy.

Javelin Cavalier with just enough Attack to kill Cecilia misses her. Cecilia hits him.

Another Javelin Cavalier with enough Attack misses Cecilia. Cecilia kills him.

Steel Sword Mercenary misses Milady. Milady slaughters him.

Armorslayer Mercenary hits Roy. Roy wastes two charges of the Wyrmslayer to end him.

Longbow Archer misses Milady.

Turn 4

9_zpsnajzktd8.png

Oh boy. Yep. I pretty much aggravated all enemies at this point.

I'm not worried about Perceval anymore since there is a spot I can completely choke him and his Cavalier with just Allen--but that leaves me one less Rescue-ferry unit that would be great to take on the east enemies.

The Cavaliers and Valkyrie from the north can be taken on by Milady and Shanna. Roy can start heading his way towards the castle. Among one of the Cavaliers is a Horseslayer. I laugh. Shanna doesn't count as a horse unit, silly.

And at some point I'll need to get closer to the village without the bandits taking it.

Milady kills the Valkyrie without taking damage.

Shanna is just shy two Attack points to kill the Horseslayer Cavalier. Thankfully, I packed Milady with Gant's Lance. Shanna trades one of her Iron Lances for Milady's Gant's Lance and kills the Cavalier while taking damage.

Roy makes sure to stay out of the north Cavaliers' range by attacking the nearby Cavalier from the west. Roy kills the Cavalier with the Rapier's help.

Lilina and Geese are going to take on the oncoming threat while in the forest. First, Elphin plays for Cecilia.

Lilina heals Cecilia and gets her level.

10_zpsbzbinkl9.png

I would like more Speed eventually.

I make sure Geese equips his Hand Axe when he enters the southeast forest.

I then see there is a problem. The bandit group is going to make it to the village in two turns. I will need Allen to move on over there. But who's going to tank Perceval and the Cavalier?

11_zpsck0jzc9n.png

There can only be one man for the job.

Rutger has enough HP and Defense to tank both Perceval's Silver Lance and the Cavalier's Javelin. I have Rutger dump all his equipment into Merlinus.

Allen and Klain do a Rescue-Drop so Elphin can shave a space on his next turn.

12_zpsehqq1ysu.png13_zps5ysspxmf.png

May Rutger tank many hits to the face. We shall end Turn 4 like this.

Perceval cuts into Rutger.

Javelin Cavalier misses Rutger.

Steel Sword Mercenary gets burned to death after he misses Lilina.

Steel Lance Cavalier hits Milady. Milady hits back before she crit-kills.

Another Steel Lance Cavalier hits Milady and dies to her blade.

Horseslayer Cavalier misses Lilina and dies to her flames.

Steel Lance Cavalier misses and dies to Lilina too.

Longbow Archer misses Cecilia.

Longbow Archer doesn't exactly clip Shanna's wings.

Silver Bow Sniper misses Cecilia and gets burned some.

Javelin Cavalier hits Roy.

Javelin Cavalier misses Cecilia and also gets burned some.

Turn 5

14_zpsjbxxf0gi.png

I don't think I'm getting to the village. I think the guy said not to attack anyone unless they asked for it. Dammit.

Roy will level up if he eats the Archer kill. Free EXP is good.

Saul heals Rutger. Saul should be safe since Perceval took up the spot the Javelin Cavalier could get him.

Klain takes care of the Javelin Cavalier. He now has S Bows.

Cecilia with her Aircalibur misses to kill the Longbow Archer even at 88 hit. Cecilia, you are being bad right now.

Allen takes out the Sniper with his Iron Sword.

Elphin plays Allen.

Unless the Berserker can't take villages, I guess I won't get it this time. Allen takes out the northeast Mercenary with more Iron Sword use. Allen is getting closer to A Swords so why not.

Igrene shoots at the Killing Edge Mercenary with his full AS. Without Allen to double, I need two people.

Lilina gets rid of the Mercenary while also taking the fort.

Geese kills the east Archer with his mighty Iron Axe.

Roy slays the Archer with his Steel Sword. This is Roy's last level up!

15_zpsi3tectil.png

Nooooo, Roy! Not on your last unpromoted level up!

Milady takes out the Cavalier. She levels up.

16_zpscn3vr8rn.png

I'll forgive Milady. At least she has better stats.

Shanna throws her crit-killing Javelin at the Brigand.

17_zpsevpbjhfb.png18_zpsmb7vzfch.png

Warp would have been useful here. That or better foresight on my part. I shall end Turn 5 with these results.

Perceval lodges another sword into Rutger.

Brigand actually goes backwards to get Shanna. He misses and Shanna hits him.

Javelin Cavalier misses Rutger.

Armorslayer Mercenary hits Elphin.

Longbow Archer misses Elphin.

Turn 6

19_zpsdajecsgi.png

The Berserker guy didn't move! YES

Klain kills the Archer.

20_zpstwqf9szr.png

I think I'm ready to bench Klain.

Saul heals Rutger just in case.

Though having WTD, Geese attacks the Mercenary.

21_zpsj597f5nd.png

Thus is the nature of a FE6 Berserker: defy all odds and be crit-happy. Good show, Geese.

Elphin plays Cecilia.

Let's get rid of a Berserker. Cecilia cuts into Garret through Aircalibur.

Lilina heals Allen just because.

Allen switches to the Steel Sword and kills Garret without incurring injuries.

22_zps92kargdz.png

I hope he wasn't recruitable.

Shanna kills the Brigand with Gant's Lance. The Wyvern Rider will be just in range to go after her.

Igrene takes the fort in case of reinforcements.

Milady equips the Killer Lance and has a go with Raith. He has a 3 crit chance so I want her to kill him soon.

23_zpsieecamkt.png24_zps52lj6byi.png

Capturing little girls is enough of a reason.

Milady misses both times! Raith hits her.

25_zpscb2misyj.png

Ending Turn 6 as such.

Perceval misses Rutger.

Raith misses Milady. Milady misses as well until she remembers she can crit-kill.

26_zpsdwh0cs0x.png27_zpsepswkuzs.png28_zpshwd5viog.png

I guess you can put it that way. I know she's a combat unit.

Javelin Cavalier misses Rutger.

Steel Lance Wyvern Rider has a 9 hit chance. He fails to bank on that. Shanna hits him twice.

Turn 7

29_zps3jpjpw4a.png

This is probably the last turn and there is not much else other than claim the village, talk at the houses, and kill the Wyvern Rider near Shanna. I won't bother with the other Wyvern Rider or the Cavalier.

Milady flies southward so Lilina can heal her.

Elphin plays Milady.

Milady takes the village.

30_zpswyubmcnp.png

GIMME

Allen goes to the Vendor.

31_zpsredu2gas.png32_zpsn9tiemvu.png

The only things I can think of buying are another Torch and a few Door Keys.

Looking through Merlinus' convoy, I remember I have the Silver Card. Well, I can't ferry the card and get the south house so I'm going to have to forego a discount.

I buy another Torch and five Door Keys.

Cecilia visits the house.

33_zpsphyoalnu.png

You're talking to one of them.

34_zpsrzkreydr.png35_zpsxcosmtjc.png

Funny you should say that, old man...

Last house is visited by Geese.

36_zpsdygjtaph.png

Yeah. He was a Berserker like Geese.

37_zpsvua0be9d.png38_zpsyekcow8r.png

Wrong. Geese and Gonzales are good men. Garret was also a cool guy.

These three potential Berserkers have G names. That means "good." See!

But now I really can't tell if Garret was recruitable or not. Dang.

Shanna kills the Wyvern Rider for that little bit of EXP.

And that's it for this map! Roy seizes.

39_zps14ldap8c.png

Yay we rescued Fae.

40_zpsgjfrsatt.png

Sure but no need to tell it to her, Merlinus. What the hell.

41_zpsp6vfsmam.png

You are the worst, old man. You made her cry.

43_zpsjrwkomex.png44_zpspffndabe.png

Easy to understand.

45_zpshxvd0nga.png46_zpsmn2wab3a.png

Merlinus, whatever happened to you between FE7 and FE6? You put yourself in harm's way all the time for MERCHANDISE.

And you were in a tent. A tent.

I'll tell you about trouble, Merlinus. Your stupid 7x/8x Fog of War chapter. Or the chapter with Raven/Lucius because there are Cavalier reinforcements at the south. Or the Erik chapter with Pegasus Knights.

Bah on you, sir.

48_zpsipfelx3l.png49_zpsmg62qrxo.png

Precedent: Tiki.

50_zpsgwj3n4vl.png

He gives no fucks as Roy gave his long ellipses of ingesting the information. The nerve of this old man.

52_zpsfao18jlx.png53_zpsik2kxu34.png

Roy agrees with Merlinus for once? Gasp!

54_zpspgtx24jg.png55_zpswizqq9nb.png

But we're still going to take her with us. Chicken dragon unit is now conscripted.

56_zpsv1efwhul.png57_zpspvvlhiaf.png

With capped-out Roy and promoted bodyguards, what could possibly go wrong?

58_zpsi6vxcvug.png59_zpsgbmpmzgm.png

Fae's like "Field trip!" and Merlinus wants to shut her down. This will be ineffective.

60_zpslc3nkckw.png61_zpse3mb0gir.png62_zpswosk8adl.png

Ain't that sweet.

Well, I don't know about Perceval or Garret. There wasn't a cutscene with Perceval so...

I'll let you guys say if I lost them or not and then I'll edit the table.

No, no Percival. You were not desperate enough to use Elphin to recruit him(Remember his being "a bard"*COUGH*)

Garett is another weird recruitment with no hints. Lilina is the Shiida of this game.

Also you missed out on the knight Crest for recruiting Percival and keeping his goons alive.

;~; Dammit. I honestly wouldn't have guessed or tried. I definitely will want to see what Elphin/Perceval has to say.

Will Lilina tease a Roger and then flee? That will be a sight if I ever see one. Ha ha!

Dang it! Lance is going to have to wait for a while longer. I just hope I don't miss the other Knight Crest...

Well, I'll be updating and I'll start Chapter 16 tonight or tomorrow. I remember it's a gaiden so how many times will I fail or not fail? 8'3

RIP Perceval/Garret. Perceval's recruitment is really dumb, though. Perceval can only be recruited by Lalum/Elphin, and with Elphin at least you know he might be 'more than a bard', although guessing that he could recruit him is already a pretty hard leap to make, and Lalum...I don't think there are any hints at all. It's probably one of the top 3 dumb recruitments in the game (next to Cath's and 1 more that you haven't encountered yet).

Garret's is foreshadowed ever so slightly more, in that he has the same thing that Gonzales does (the 'bandit with a kind heart gimmick'), as apparently Lilina is a magnet for kind hearts..? Yeah, it's pretty dumb too.

At least you missed out on Perceval in normal mode where he's 'only' a pretty good paladin; in HM, his bases are absolutely insane:

[spoiler=HM Bases]

50.7HP/19.75STR/16.3SKL/19.98SPD/14.75LUK/15.32DEF/12.87RES

Just wow. Literally at HM base, he's better than your Alan, without having to invest any exp/Knight's Crest

Good luck with 16 Gaiden, I have faith that you'll get it first try! (You have a pretty good record so far)

I might keep up on this.

I enjoy blind playthroughs.

Also Sophia is clearly the best unit.

You are killing me with all of this death ;~;

Good luck with that chapter 16 gaiden jazz

I was running out of screenshot space. In that particular screenshot, I assumed that was his critical animation before the killing blow. Does he not do the swing in the normal one?

He does swing his sword either by critting, or not. It just does a vibration like all crit animations do after the foe gets struck.

-----

The recruitment is dumb for both. Your not missing out much except for a Knight Crest that you can get in a treasure chest next chapter. That tells me that not everyone knows about the Ch15 one in their first runs. I've missed this one too in my first run.

But...Allen+Lance A support beats Normal Mode Perceival in every way possible.

There is another BSish recruitment in chapter 16. But it's Farina-ish and you end up with Ma nigga I-can't-give-a-name. Also take the first payment option you get. It's worth it.

But hey, at least others are saying the recruitment was dumb instead of me being dumb 8'D That's always good

Those bases! I guess it's to compensate that HM is apparently hard as hard can be.

I might keep up on this.

I enjoy blind playthroughs.

Hi there!

I'm sorry! ;^; I guess I'm going to be killing you more because of what's coming up, haha.

Thanks!

Ahhh, I see. Okay.

I would have liked the early Knight Crest just so Lance could keep up in this chapter. Poor lad's been needing one since Milady got recruited.

The bro duo prevails!

The fourth gaiden requirement chapter. Will I get this one in one go? Here's to hoping.

*Normal reset because Hugh...

[spoiler=Chapter 16 - *Hugh Get and Hugh Lose*]

1_zpskbufjxe8.png

With no Perceval in tow. ;-; Haaaa.

5_zps9wcshzed.png

Oh my god. Those faces.

This spritework is just beautiful.

In other news, nothing can ever be as simple as walking up to the enemies' porch and asking them to step down. I just got to always fight my way through.

The life of a tactician.

6_zpsa2gsbyrr.png

I like how Saul is the sole representative of the St. Elimine Church, as though Elen doesn't exist.

Saul's not even a Bishop and he has more screentime than Guinivere's assistant.

The church supporting us means the revolutionaries are forced inside the castle.

11_zpsbdqufq0n.png

Can I finally pummel this guy now?!

Castle maps! And castles usually mean

15_zpschtrait4.png

Chests. Perhaps another Cath chapter?

Running out of screenshot space for one post so I'll say: chests are represented by the brown boxes with the green lines above them. There's five on the west side and five on the east side.

I'll need two Thief units or people with Chest Keys. But whoever's going the east path, they're going to be closer to the boss room. I think. I can see that one group goes that way to get the chests and the boss so Roy can just waltz his way onto the throne.

There are a couple particularly interesting places:

16_zpsmnp8gsqm.png

This area. I would assume a Secret Shop. I'm locked out the Warp staff though so can't do much.

17_zpslhxeofhs.png

This area too. Two things I can guess: there's someone over there that I want to recruit who's going to be there or enemies are going to be there and I should hustle-hustle to the throne so I don't have to fight them.

But I think I was right about the Secret Shop. Why?

18_zpsufm97ziw.png

This lad right here who has the Member Card.

Yeah, I've heard about Hugh. He charges certain amounts in relation to his stats. I think it starts at 10K? What a little shit. He's not even promoted.

I mean, really. He costs 20K if you want to buy him at best price and promote him. He's late in the game and the third Anima Mage. The nerve of this guy.

I don't even know if I have 10K but I'll see.

After checking through the Trade Armory, pparently I do.

Watch: I probably remembered wrong and he costs like 100K or something hurhur.

Roy's starting position has him heading his way towards Hugh so I'll see if I can recruit him with Roy. I can't think of anyone else except apparently Shiida---I mean Lilina.

And yeah, he's Camus' son. Nice to see the guy.

Enemy roll-call!

26_zpsh9xqgeei.png27_zpswbgbsftr.png28_zpsjuq8uwsn.png29_zpsoripq3az.png

I've fought all of these before. Got to make sure to not to piss of the dragons early.

30_zpsujiw4b02.png32_zpsohxbd4ma.png

I will need to keep these enemies in mind. They got Red Gems to steal.

There's also Generals on the map but they are...

33_zps1ydevnj7.png34_zpsgb4f8g1n.png35_zpsgsjtqfun.png36_zps5sjngltj.png

Douglas, either he is recruitable via Perceval or not recruitable at all.

Roartz is obvious enemy I will kill.

Not bad levels but I can't tell if they count for boss bonus EXP.

There's also another enemy to keep in mind for stealables.

37_zpsmrmktvzw.png38_zpsoksoqd2u.png

I FINALLY GET TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF THIS GUY

And he's got the Delphi Shield! That's going straight onto Milady. Maybe Shanna but Shanna's Defense is shoddy, Delphi Shield or not...

The good thing about Narcian: he's a flying unit on a throne. Flying units don't get terrain bonus. Loooool!

But he still has respectable defenses and Avoid so that's compensation.

The other thing about Delphi Shield doesn't protect against dragon effectiveness. Looooooooool!

This will be fun, but I should take Astore with me.

In order to get the Gems and the chests, I think I'll have Astore and a couple units with Chest Keys go get stuff. Any doors can get unlocked with Unlock... if someone other than Saul can use Unlock.

While picking units, I find this little one here:

40_zpslzdtg2dk.png

Good news: Dragonstones don't have weight. That 13 Avoid is her pure Avoid.

Bad news: That's her pure Avoid. She has 3 Speed and there's probably no way of buying Dragonstones.

I can't tell from the description if the Divine Dragonstone has any effectiveness but I want to say yes. Tiki from FE11 had effective damage on other Manaketes and she in FE3 had effective damage as well.

She's got respectable defenses, great accuracy, and nice crit. My hesistance using her is that I'm worried about the 3 Speed (she not going to be doubling for a while) and that I have all these other guys to train.

Then again, a good portion of these enemies are unpromoted still. It's possible to feed her kills and see how she does. But can I fit her into my 13 deployment slots?

I'm going to be doing this:

43_zpsn7btswgd.png

Say hi to Clarine, Klain. I'll need to raise Igrene's weapon level but I think I'll manage. Hopefully. Klain had traded his stuff to Igrene.

I can fit Fae in there. So now I just need to feed her some good EXP kills and she could be set.

I can't recall if dragons are considered unpromoted or not so that'll be tricky at first.

I don't plan to keep her as a permanent member but I thought I should show off a utility unit that has no competition for the unpromoted kills now that Roy's capped.

Lance and Merlinus will be on looting duty so Astore can focus on stealing.

There's been something I've been neglecting to do.

44_zpsqxjfgmhr.png

The truest of OTPs. The only people Milady can't lift are Geese and Allen. I welcome this ship of Milady x Boots.

Here's my formations, as the army is split again:

45_zpseo2axfm7.png46_zpsqdddoa2o.png

West group is going to be storming as quick as they can. Lance has two Door Keys for the door barring my path to the center and the door to the west treasure room. Astore's there since the Red Gem Mage and Manakete are on this path.

The other group is going to be slightly cautious at first since there's a Bolting Mage right there. Their job is to get the east treasures and clear Roy for the throne by taking out Narcian. They'll make sure not to get in Hugh's range--or, if need be, someone's going to tank Hugh until Roy gets to him.

Roy's goal is to recruit Hugh and get to the throne quickly. The past gaidens were based on turn count and having someone stay alive. If I had to guess on who has to stay alive this time, it's Saul. Saul's showed up in the intro.

There's less enemies on the east side towards the center. I actually want Roy to go with the east side. It's the quickest path to Hugh and the throne. To do this, I'll probably have to ferry him in the first turn or two. Stupid Lord being locked in his place.

As for giving Fae kills, I have Lance there in the chance he can soften up an enemy and she gets the kill. A little convoluted but nothing that's not manageable.

Let's breach the enemy's defense!

47_zpsvl0zrbtm.png

QUICK STRATS

49_zpsjch4svdd.png

You're getting your comeuppance.

You gave me enemies to convert into EXP instead of facing me back around Chapter 8. I wonder.

Soldier tells Narcian that Murdock is arriving. Narcian knows he's in deep shit now because he tells the Soldier to give Murdock all his hospitalities.

58_zpssavymurx.png

Ready to demote you, I would assume.

Murdock wants an explanation for this "embarrassment" of Narcian's failures.

Narcian doesn't know what Murdock means.

63_zpspybqtusb.png64_zpsmlbt4gh5.png66_zpsxdfwayfd.png67_zpsmqdwxhlr.png

POW! WAPOW! KABOOM! WACHA!

Mm, mm! Just taste that fine shame!

Narcian tries to explain himself but Murdock wants none of that.

73_zpsocuacnir.png

HAHAHAHA

CALLED IT. FUCKING CALLED IT.

Oh. Ohhh. This is great. This is beautiful.

Narcian is getting replaced by Gale. Was he that blue-haired Wyvern Lord from earlier?

74_zpsbgxuurpu.png

You messed up three times. I think your chances are up.

But sure. Volunteer to be the boss. I'll beat you to a bloody pulp to the point the woman that birthed you won't recognize you.

Murdock gives Narican another chance and warns Narcian to not mess up again.

Murdock then leaves.

84_zpsmsgtafkp.png

Well what did you expect?

Narcian keeps spouting off about how his reputation is crumbling and he won't let Gale surpass him until a Soldier comes in to say we're fast approaching.

Narcian says he knows that already but he mutters a "Wait..."

92_zpsto4za6ri.png

What now? Now this I never knew! I shall know this kin of the current Wyvern Goddess!

93_zpsbh640vvz.png

What do you plan to do with Milady's brother? Unless...

You wouldn't

You wouldn't pull a FE9 Jill defect on me, game

You can't!

95_zpspgzbgdmo.png

lol you what, Narcian

The Soldier didn't hear what Narcian said.

98_zpshguiptqf.png101_zpsnbetsxqk.png

Uh oh...

104_zps8mbpqkem.png106_zpsbjupdydi.png

You fiend! Do not pull a Ira/Shannan on me!

107_zpstv32xlgw.png

Ye gods, this is one long cutscene.

And I apparently forgot to get Arcardo's stats.

109_zpsb8mvlitt.png

You only thought of this now?

112_zpsbaqk5coz.png113_zpsx74qo8b8.png

The bickerings of such men. Douglas is in the background, going ".........."

Roartz and Arcardo plan to escape again. They want to turn to Bern since this was Bern's plan anyways.

119_zpsdgfz8zgl.png

Utter lies.

121_zpsak6d5inx.png

oshit

122_zpspdwepukn.png123_zpsq5ffs0hf.png

And thus the ever small connection from FE6 to FE7 with Zephiel's mother. Wasn't Zephiel related to Louise too?

And then, yeah, I remember now that Clarine and Klain are Louise and Pent's twins, so Zephiel is related to those two. The more you know.

124_zpse5idnal8.png125_zpsqfvgbg7s.png

Shut down, Roartz!

126_zpsofv4tfcv.png127_zpsn2df9ruf.png

You can't be meaning to say that Douglas is recruitable...

... dammit.

129_zpsqgxglpmt.png

Okay. Bye.

Douglas shakes his head at those two traitors and suggests that we'll eventually fight them soon.

While fighting them is a part of my plan, I so want to kill Narcian right now.

134_zpsgjearrar.png

AHA

Elphin! This is where Elphin goes!

Because-Because

He could recruit Perceval, and he was "a bard"

And Roy said something about Elphin made him seem like a noble

It's not because I already did Chapter 15 so I can do the missing content later when I do Chapter 15 again with Lalum

Since I suspect that going the alternate route gives me Lalum and not Elphin after what happens with Chapter 10 alternate

So no it's not that

137_zpszyqcicic.png

My god, this is long.

Also, you're... you're that guy from waaaaaay back. Yoder? It was Yoder, wasn't it?

Ha! It's not Saul but Yoder I have to keep alive, huh! Okay. I can do that.

Roy and Yoder exchange thanks to each other: Roy to Yoder for the church preventing the battle in the city, Yoder to Roy for preventing the church from being forced out of the city by the revolutionaries.

I go, "Okay." So why was the church being persecuted?

144_zpsmltvuejp.png146_zps8lvugnp2.png

Before St. Elimine died, she said Yoder's quoted words.

The word "dragon" and older English grammar pattern just doesn't feel right.

And what is people's problem with dragons? They can be nice people.

Yoder tells Roy we need to send the dragons back. I go, "But what if they just want to see their old home?"

Yoder tells Roy what the church discovered.

150_zpsbclstoju.png

We finally have greater context of the Fire Emblem for this game.

Yoder tells Roy we need to stop the revolutionaries, but here's a word of advice for us:

154_zpsjfo4pxxn.png

About that, Yoder. I tried with Roy. I have four Lost people because blind.

Don't insult me.

He must be talking about Hugh. But knowing what I know about Hugh, I'm going to pay dearly for it...

Turn 1 enemy positions

157_zps9gfdefse.png

Yoder didn't come out. Hm. That's interesting. I would have suspected to protect him but I guess not.

Well, that's different! Now how to do the gaiden? If it's based on turn count, I'm going to have to ferry Roy and hurry to chests.

The enemies are too far away this turn and that Mage is using a Bolting. I have Igrene with a Longbow; so, as long as he doesn't step a pace east from where he's at currently, I'm fine to snipe at him.

Shanna rescues Roy and moves in range of Elphin. I make sure to have her move just enough so Elphin can use most of his movement and still be out of range of the Mercenary.

Elphin plays Shanna.

Shanna gives Geese Roy and moves towards the Mercenary.

Geese gives Milady Roy.

Milady equips the Iron Sword and moves inside. The Fighter in there is weighed down by his Steel Axe just enough so Milady can double him. Either she's going to be targeted for Bolting because of lowered Speed or Geese because he has the lowest Resistance.

159_zpscod3lmda.png

She comes for blood.

And I love that since she used an item, her Canto kicks in to give her the additional two movement. It's a match made in heaven <3

I forgot to have Shanna equip the Iron Sword. I want her to get full AS and keep building that rank, so Allen has her equip it.

160_zpsgogj1weq.png161_zpsh3s6cjse.png

Merlinus will move to the space two south and one west of Igrene, out of range of the Bolting Mage and ending Turn 1.

Steel Sword Mercenary misses Shanna and Shanna hits back twice. Fae can get this kill if she wants.

Even when weighed down by Roy, Milady dodges a 31 hit chance Steel Axe Fighter. She strikes him down with perfect accuracy. Man, weapons not swords or magic are terrible if even a weighed-down Milady can have 100 accuracy...

Douglas moves!

Bolting Mage goes for Milady and hits her. Ouch.

162_zpsww8dqqeh.png

I knew there was going to be something there!

The red-headed guy I saw before turns out to Milady's younger brother Zeiss.

Gale orders Zeiss to hide while Zeiss is none the wiser as to why he should.

Gale informs Zeiss that Narcian wants Zeiss to be taken prisoner.

167_zps8vajvevu.png

Scapegoating you, Zeiss. Narcian is a little shit like that.

Gale further says that Narcian is sayng that Zeiss assisted his sister by leaking info to us. Zeiss doesn't know where she is or that I have Milady deployed this chapter.

He should be proud of his sister for in the short time I got to know her, she's already a Wyvern Lord like Gale. Zeiss can't believe his sister defected to us.

Apparently Gale knows Milady is here. Oh wow. Did the writers create a script for if you bring Milady or not? Cool.

Also, Gale is a cool guy. While he can't go with Zeiss because he's been ordered by Murdock to view the battlefield, he is letting Zeiss go.

177_zpsodt8a0br.png

Now what does that mean...?

Mm. I'm perturbed. If he comes as a reinforcement, I could assume that's what that means.

Or... or...

Maybe a mechanic where if I recruit Zeiss, I don't get Gale; if I don't get Zeiss, I get Gale?

I don't know.

Turn 2, scrolled up for new enemy positions

178_zpsqkk4lmsv.png

Lilina can't quite reach Milady. I don't think Milady is going to use all her movement unless I dump Roy off. Rutger's nearby so that's possible.

The Red Gem Mage is off-screen but he's incoming. I'm going to keep units in one-range weaponry until I can get that Gem off of him.

180_zpsarsos03b.png181_zpsmybn2b9u.png

So hypothesis one was right: a recruitable guy is there and I have to break him out. I'm just not sure if he attacks if the wall breaks down. It's an 100 HP wall too so that's going to take a while.

Unless he's got god-like growths, I can't say he's looking that great. At least Milady comes earlier and has ample enemies to feed her just from her initial map. By the time I get to Zeiss, most are going to be cleared out.

There's also the fact that Zeiss is being guarded by Douglas and a Manakete, and you needed to have kept Milady alive to get to him. All that effort to recruit a weaker Wyvern Rider. It's looking like a "no thanks" from me.

Still, a kin of Milady's is alright just be relation. I may not have Milady take out Narcian since she has no dragon-effective weaponry so I can send her over there when her job at the east side is done.

Igrene takes out the Bolting Mage.

Rutger takes and drops Roy.

Ahhh, that's better! Before, Milady was getting doubled by the Killing Edge Mercenary. He's in range of Roy so I have Milady take him out instead of the Bishop. Milady laughs at him as she crit-kills him. That's also a level up for her!

183_zpsmowyczqe.png

Milady please

Never stop being beautiful

And now she can wield Steel Swords, of which she has no AS penalty with. I could even have Roy hand her his since he's done really fighting for now.

Let's show off Fae.

190_zpsgj7slj38.png

She's so fluffy. Her head actually reminds me of a Pokemon.

But HOLY SHIIIIIIIT that EXP.

So okay. I think that was a Level 16 Mercenary. She's Level 1 so...

My calculations are not adding up. 15 Level difference so (31 + 15)/3 = ~15... +20 for defeating enemy... +(15*3 - 1*3) which equals 42...

Yeah, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Maybe he was a Level 18 Mercenary but that still wouldn't add up right. That'd be a +7 difference...

I don't know. I'll just go "okay game" and move on.

Allen removes the Killer Axe Fighter from my sight.

After Astore moves, Shanna rescues him and moves into a spot where Elphin uses full movement and can play her.

Shanna drops Astore in a spot the Mage can't target him and waits. The Red Gem Mage is an Aircalibur Mage.

191_zpsnjw7ucxh.png192_zps3ixkgz9a.png

I'll end Turn 2 with these positions.

193_zpslcycmgzx.png

All these cutscenes!

Hugh screams that he hasn't been paid yet. I guess that's something to worry about.

If you are within my budget, I guess I can recruit you. You better be fucking worth it, though. I could have used that money for good equipment instead of an UNPROMOTED UNIT.

Steel Axe Fighter fails to hit Milady and dies.

Aircalibur Mage misses Allen.

Hand Axe Fighter misses his 8 hit chance against Milady.

Bishop doesn't go for Milady. He goes for Roy, but it is such a sad spectacle: he hits but Roy's Res reduces his damage down to 4. Roy Res too strong!

Turn 3 enemy positions

196_zpsphxrteuy.png

Some enemies, including Hugh, are heading towards Roy's position. Good. Makes my job easier.

Lilina heals Milady.

Geese and the Bishop square off; and, while Geese takes damage, he kills the Bishop fine.

Roy gets close to Milady so she can carry him off northward. All the ferrying!

Igrene shoots down the Hand Axe Fighter with no injuries.

197_zpsnleggciy.png

I'll be taking that, thank you!

I'll have Fae take that Mage kill. Fae moves and then Elphin plays her. Elphin levels up.

198_zpsr7peon7w.png

Yay more Speed.

Aircalibur Mage can't even do damage against Fae. Fae kills him in one shot and she levels up!

199_zpsahfwq3ab.png

Okay level up. Still will always cry for Speed.

The Mage ahead is an Elfire Mage. Shanna with Javelin in hand rescues Elphin and punches it north.

Allen takes Elphin from the south and drops him west. Allen's Canto allows him to move a space south out of the line of fire.

I probably should have just had Shanna draw in the Mage so Fae could get another kill but oh well. Lance rescues Fae and moves a space east for the rest of his movement.

200_zpszglwsn5z.png

Milady and Roy have left everyone else behind.

Merlinus moves north to end Turn 3.

Shanna kills the Mage on counter. No damage sustained.

A Purge Bishop hits Elphin! Dang. I wasn't expecting that Bishop.

Turn 4 enemy positions

201_zpssimegego.png

Hugh is now in Milady's sight. More than likely, Hugh's going to target a damaged Roy. That or self-recruit. Even if he goes for Milady, she won't be in actual danger.

Nothing much can be done about the Purge Bishop other than let him break his Purge.

The Bishop near Milady is being followed by two Aircalibur Mages. I'll have to tread carefully around them. Once I have the Delphi Shield, say goodbye to Aircalibur Mage/Sage/Valkyrie fear!

Astore moves so Saul can take his spot.

Elphin plays Saul.

Shanna and Allen do a Rescue-Drop with Elphin and Allen charges ahead.

This is so Saul can use full movement and can heal Elphin.

Roy will be hurting but he can tank both the Bishop Purge and Hugh if they target him. Milady gets in range of the Knight but not the Bishop, equips the Silver Lance, and places Roy to her east. Hugh shouldn't move far away that Roy can't reach him.

Lilina heals Geese.

202_zpsxnalwkh3.png203_zps6gnxczfa.png

Going completely north with Merlinus will put him in range of the Purge Bishop. He still gets to use his full movement towards the treasure room.

Horseslayer Knight misses Milady. Milady fells him.

Hugh hits Roy. Hugh, stop it!

The Purge Bishop apparently has his sights on Elphin. He misses this time.

Turn 5 enemy positions

206_zps84974yds.png

I'm trying to hustle as fast as I can. Douglas is heading towards Roy's position too but Elphin is on the other path.

Roy can talk to Hugh but let me do one or two things first.

Lilina heals Roy. She's in range of one Aircalibur Mage.

Igrene moves in range of the one that can get Lilina. Igrene has 10 Res so she can tank the Purge Bishop and the Aircalibur Mage.

I'll talk to Hugh now. Hugh asks if we lead the army and Roy says sure thing.

Hugh asks if we need another Mage.

Roy says we can always do for more units. I say blatant lies. FREE units, that's one thing. Ones I got to pay PROMOTION ITEM price and then use a promotion item on them, fuck that.

Hugh's like, "Good! Here's a mage for hire."

213_zpsa45ms85z.png

 Roy, he just attacked you.

Hugh corrects Roy. He's the one for hire, not someone else. Roy gives him a scrutinizing look, but Hugh says he's not bad with a tome. The price for his services?

217_zpshhcpesgf.png

You are as bad as Farina if not worse. 10K and not as likely to be promoted because look at all the Guiding Rings I don't have.

Roy says that's a hefty sum. I could bargain with him to go lower but whatever. I will probably make up the 10K somewhere. I just don't know if he keeps the stats he had when he attacked me...

Hugh needs money for his grandmother and Roy asks if his grandmother is sick. It's like Castor all over again except with my actual coffers.

222_zps1mdgidq8.png

His grandmother is Niime, if I recall correctly. Canas mentioned that his whole family was into dark magic and some of them went crazy...

I suppose that's what Hugh's hinting at.

224_zps2pzgkn2g.png

I like how I don't get to see how much money I have in case I can't recall what's in my treasury. What if I said yes when I didn't have 10K? Maybe the game would recognize that before the convo and just deny me the first bargain choice?

But okay. I'll make up the money somewhere, and I do want to see what 10K Hugh looks like.

Sure. Let's hire you on for 10K.

Apparently I missed the screenshot but Hugh said that Niime has headaches for her back. Roy's like what. Hugh stumbles but eventually the topic is dropped.

230_zps331p0vma.png

We'll see, now won't we?

Let's check out Hugh. What did 10K do for me?

232_zpswiaijtit.png

So he keeps the same stats as when he was an enemy. Ehh...

I mean, I guess it's okay if neither Lilina or Lugh were trained or I lost both of them, and even I--not being frugal in this playthrough--had enough money to get Hugh at max bargain price.

But I got Lilina and Lugh still and no Guiding Ring in sight. At least Hugh is Level 15 so I can auto-promote if I wanted to.

But yeah... not likely to use Hugh either, unless the bargaining also changed his growth rates. I wouldn't know.

Surprisingly, Hugh has enough Aid to Rescue Roy. Now that's a sight to see: a Mage picking up a Lord!

Hugh can tank the incoming Bishop and the other Aircalibur Mage. Good. At least he can contribute. Much like Fae, there's no competition for the unpromoted enemies, so I guess that's also a good mark for him.

There's also something he can do. There's the Manakete in the treasure room. Hugh can strike him from the west and still be in range of the Bishop and the other Mage.

So, okay, maybe Hugh's not as bad after I've ferried Roy all the way to him.

Hugh goes ahead and softens up the Manakete for whoever wants him.

Milady and Rutger Rescue-Drop Roy out of danger. Milady keeps her distance as well--at least until the Aircalibur Mages are gone.

Elphin plays Astore.

Lance hands off one of the Door Keys to Shanna in exchange for a low-use Javelin. He then moves ahead.

Shanna and Allen Rescue-Drop Elphin further into the passage.

233_zpscvqed8sj.png234_zpsi9ed71qd.png

Can't do much with Merlinus until that Purge Bishop goes away. I'll end Turn 5 like this.

Aircalibur Mage goes for Hugh. Well... that I wasn't expecting. He hits Hugh and Hugh strikes back.

Same scenario as before with the other Aircalibur Mage.

236_zpskohehc8l.png

Well! The Purge Bishop had a 48 chance to hit Hugh and he banked on it.

I've already started on the second attempt so stay tuned! I'll try to get that other part out soon if not tonight. :)

Reset: 7

There is another BSish recruitment in chapter 16. But it's Farina-ish and you end up with Ma nigga I-can't-give-a-name. Also take the first payment option you get. It's worth it.

No.

236_zpskohehc8l.png

Well! The Purge Bishop had a 48 chance to hit Hugh and he banked on it.

What a waste of money. Your not exactly swimming in it like in FE7.

Lol, hire him for cheap.

lol

How about zero?

----

Save it for the better weapons. Low Guilding Rings makes him not worth it unless Lilina and Lugh died. But...steal his Member Card if you don't want to bother with him.

Rip

Just hire him for minimum if you don't want to kill Hugh, he sucks anyways :/

Also.. remember.. murder is not always the best choice if things do not work as you think..?

Oh my god if you don't get this gaiden I am going to attack you

Even his minimum is not worth it if you are not using him. *Sigh* Sometimes you have to settle these matters with Steel. But...if some people are pacifists...go ahead and hire him.

@DD

Hint for you..you won't get penalized if Hugh dies.

SHHHHH I HAVE A BET WITH ELF, EVEN THOUGH NOTHING IS BEING BET.

I'll eventually pay my end if I lose, (but it'll probably take forever to happen because school's a bitch). Debating doing a FE6 Siblings Only run or an Iron Man. Hm...

@Dual Dragons: This chapter sucks, Hugh is not worth 10k unless you're seriously low on usable mages, and it's so incredibly satisfying to finally get to squash Narcian

I have no faith in anyone to get this gaiden on their first run without looking it up

Although if they played FE4 maybe they would know

I dunno

Any decent person would tell him to lay down his arms and surrender. But...re-guarding him...
