elf_01 Posted February 27, 2015 Share Posted February 27, 2015 (edited) After spending a while here lurking LPs, playing FE when I have time, and occasionally coming out of the woodwork to post here and there, I decided that, since I'm playing all this FE, I may as well share it (and revisit my favorite FE game/mode), but with a bit (lot) of an added challenge (heavily limiting my pool of available characters and forcing myself to use the 2 worst characters in the game). Rules: 1. Only Roy + Female Characters allowed to do combat/heal. Male characters can meatshield early on (I'm not sure it's possible to beat the first few chapters without anyone else at least getting attacked from time to time) and visit villages/recruit/etc. 2. Thieves (Chad/Asthor) allowed, but only to steal/open things (no combat). I must recruit Cath as soon as possible, and once I have her, no more Chad/Asthor 3. Wendy, Sophia and Lilina will be used. Heavily. Wendy's getting the boots. Yup. 4. After I get the preparations menu, Male characters will only be allowed to be deployed for Thief utility or recruitment purposes (and Marcus being deployed as a meatshield on chapter 7 because I don't think it's at all possible otherwise...) 5. Savestates will be used but not abused (no level up rigging, no crit/hit rigging except for with Wendy and Sophia, since I feel like levelling them will be absurdly difficult otherwise, pretty much only used to rescue units from death). 6. All characters will be recruited, all characters will be kept alive (sans Merlinus. He'll die for the cause from time to time). I will, as much as possible, try to get every village/chest/etc. 7. I'm not buying stat boosters at the Chapter 21 secret shop. Everyone maxed out on boots/energy rings/speedwings sort of defies the point of a challenge run I honestly wasn't sure the early-game would be at all possible (especially chapters 4, 5 and 7) with the limited early units, but I played up to and beat 7 (and figured that it's possible enough that I won't end up abandoning this), so here we go! Other chapters I'm worried about are 8x and 11L, but hopefully someone on my team can kill Henning, and my characters aren't total garbage by 11L. After 13, I'm not too scared because I'll have Milady, but my frontlines remain pretty painfully thin...I think Milady, Echidna and Wendy are my only real frontline characters, and that's terrifying... [spoiler=Chapter 1: The Pain Starts Here, aka Roy Solo] Scouring. Heroes kill dragons. Backstory. Zephiel, why do you do this? I always get screwed by RNG in Battle Before Dawn in HHM, and THIS is how you repay me? I should never have saved you :( Marcus > Eliwood. Also, did Harken, Sain and Kent all mysteriously die? Lilina please save me. I need combat units and I need them now. The face of our hero/carry/God Looting inventories for Sword/vulneraries. All non-Roy units can go cower in a corner for all I care. Not shown here, but Roy moves far right to show off his manliness for Lilina. This might be my favorite Roy pose. Now, if only he would dodge 40% Axe hits (Rapier is equipped for the chance of critting back.) Starting off, I'm clearly terrible at taking screenshots. Roy crit here after dodging an axe-hit. So bad at taking screenshots ;_;. Roy uses a vulnerary and taunts all the enemies into attacking him (no other unit will enter battle this chapter!) Stab on EP after dodging things. I suck at taking screenshots, but Roy dodged both axe-hits. He's currently on 17/18 HP (THIS IS IMPORTANT) A very nice defensive level from counterkilling that fighter (and he needs the speed badly).. And then he gets hit by the other fighter (29%) and the archer for 17 damage. REWIND. Vulnerary for 1hp to survive EP. (Also, I'm burning those Rapier charges disturbingly fast...) Re-get level, same EP happens, but that 1HP vulnerary saves Roy. Next 2 turns are just countering and healing. More speed/avoid is always nice? Need some strength soon, though, or the boss-kill will be impossible. Finishes the archer. Aggressive enemies dead, I can breath a sigh of relief! Baiting the fighter and stabbing/dodging. I really can't complain at all about more speed (and 5 stats), but I'm going to be really sad if I have to reset because NO STRENGTH. I remember there's a village, Old Man Marcus is on the case. Redundant Criticals! Sort-of-but-not-completely-redundant critical! Roy moves up. The end is in sight! $$$$$$$$$$$$ (Iron Sword fund) On one hand, he's gotten speed and Luck on every level-up and he's amazing. On the other hand, STRENGTH PLZ I decide to get ALance C because I can. This proves to be a great decision Lagging and learning on the bench confirmed. ROY'S OUR BOY. Let's finish the last scrubs on the map! Wolt and Bors make themselves useful as couriers. This might be the first time they've ever been useful to anybody in FE6 HM. AND THEN THIS HAPPENS. WHY ARE YOU EVEN GETTING SPD/LUK IF YOU CAN'T DODGE THINGS, ROY? (I might have gotten a little overly aggressive. Rewind!) Re-do. Roy still sucks at dodging things, but at least he's alive! I forgive you for all your sins, Roy <3 The Bench Mob chilling. This might take a while (I'm not healing. Would need 2 vulneraries to get out of OHKO range and I just wasn't bothered) Bors delivers some much-needed supplies... ...since Roy somehow managed to break an Iron sword in the first chapter. No save scumming necessary, he just dodged everything (this is a mostly recurring theme). 6 levels, +6 speed. I think I'm in love (but strength pleaseee) So strong with that 6-strength at level 7. Great pose in the first picture, though. A Second Combat Character Appears! (Although she's made of paper right now) Deke disarms his buddies (and vice versa) The situation. Fast but made of paper. Please get strength. Heals up, gets on a forest Everyone else runs far away so everyone just attacks Roy. Soldier misses? Not sure Roy dodging things (and counter-killing I think). Wade, you disappoint me. T3 Start situation Sell Iron Bow for $ that I didn't need. This was absolutely a mistake. Since he can't dodge... First kill (she hit both)! RIP Speed streak :( YES he dodged Ouch. He's pretty dodgy, but hits like a wet tissue. FLEE, SHANNA, FLEE. Dodging as he runs to safety Point now choked. Roy can handle this np Those hitrates. Dieck's party made it safely to the bench! Situation at turn's end. Roy can survive indefinitely on that fort. See? Player Phase start! (That archer can OHKO Shanna) Fly away, try to dodge javelins! You disappoint me :( Rewind and burn 1 RN. Much better Logjam cleared somewhat, Shanna flies to safety It's strength, I'm sure not complaining. Seems like he's done with speed now, though. Shanna slays the archer And dodges on EP for this level. Shanna, why are you so disappointing? Situation is stable. Time to feed Shanna kills and hope she redeems herself soon. Clearing out soldiers while Roy tanks Some misses and dodges happen Shenanigans as she slowly kills that Fighter. At least that level had 3 stats, even if she still desperately needs Str and defences With the coast clear, Old Man comes down and delivers presents Gogo. Roy baits/chips Surely this is a good idea... I'm bad :( Rewind and heal before attacking And apparently accidentally burn a RN in the process, netting a clean kill. Bait, chip and kill for the same level again. Feeding Shanna all the kills Rinse and repeat Heal up the bait to bait better ...and then he crits :( Chip for a great level. I knew you had it in you, Roy! This'll be fine, right? Uh oh.. THANK YOU BASED RNG Shanna finally collects the kill after her nearrrr death experience Boss slaying. I'd have fed the kill to Shanna, except she can't actually damage the boss at all. The standard, Roy baits things while everybody else cowers strategy Roy, why did you get hi--I FORGOT TO UNEQUIP RAPIER, RESTART. Better, even if the Iron Lance jerk still hit you Ouch (this is after he got hit by the archer) I'm alive! And people are out of range. Time to park Roy on a forest (He attacks the archer, gets healed by Ellen, who's then rescued away) My units finally learned to dodge. I'm so proud of them ROY. THANK YOU SO MUCH. (There's no way this run's early-game would be possible if Roy didn't decide to get amazingly speed-blessed) Rescue people, hide in corner (Bors gets to tank the soldier) Shanna has pretty bad odds of survival, but she has to think down the upper crowd. Luckily RNG remains in my favor for now If only you knew, Narcian. I literally have 2 fighting units, everybody else is hiding in the corner, and Shanna barely wins 1v1 vs a soldier. PLEASE NO You mean my entire army? (2 women, 1 child ;_;) All the big bads leave. Roy continues being amazing Bors and Merlinus taking it for the team. Please learn from Roy and get decent levels. You're one of my 2 combat units :( Roy forgets to dodge, he's so shamed by Shanna's level up This is a terrible idea But RNG is in my favor Just kidding :( Rewind How many times have I had to rewind for you? See, Shanna? This is how you dodge death. Better. Now that the upper soldiers are cleared out, my army can move up slightly, while Roy grabs a Vulnerary and heals up a little Team didn't move far enough And Roy can't dodge arrows. Shanna risking her life as usual (I think she's at a risk of dying pretty much every turn here) Post-turn formation Roy <3 Formation. Spot the flaw Yeah. Bad idea, but RNG saves me ...I deserve this SHANNA. IS THIS KARMA FOR THE REWINDS I HAD TO DO FOR YOU? Cavalier reinforcement bumrush. The situation is mostly stable, with Roy tanking the majority of the hits. My least favorite 4-stat level up :( Slow progress ...If Shanna would stop missing, that is Miscalculations were made ...I guess that's better than her last 2 levels? I clear out the bottom just in time, as cavalier reinforcements are starting to come from the top now. Army moves downwards, heal Roy... ...so I can use the time-honored Roy-bait Slay my way up Magic please? The Bors courier gives Roy a new sword and Vulnerary Bait, chip and feed Old man running errands again Thanks for Lilina's fire tome Do the cavalier reinforcements ever stop? *gasp* A good Shanna level?!?! (But please grow strength. Seriously) This may be the only time I've ever seen the top path get taken Bait and feed again. I believe that Shanna can one day be useful when fed enough kills Slowly murders Slater, and gets a good level in the process. Thank you for finally getting Str, Roy! I could seize here...but I want more exp/loot Slay armors. When I said I wanted magic...eh whatever I'm fine with it Finish the last 2 enemies Good thing I got that mend staff, huh? Need magic user ;_; Erik is just such an upstanding and noble guy. What could possibly go wrong? Healer on a horse! Old man doing what old men do Roy bait time. I really regret using so many Rapier charges in Ch.1, because I REALLY need them this chapter. I don't even 2HKO/1RKO with the rapier. This is just tragic Healer on her way (soon) Team sits in the corner while fighting people fight (I wish Ellen could take a hit. That would be cool) You are the greatest, now come heal me PLEASE Roy...At least you're doing things She kills an archer. This, however, was a terrible idea in hindsight A great level (STRENGTH FINALLY), coming from three VERY important dodges... Oww. This is a great position, they can't reach me because Clarine is blocking them off and enemies in this chapter won't attack her! Oh. Oh no. I did not think this through JUST KIDDING. Shanna redeeming my poor javelin decisions against bow users since Chapter 2. Roy massacres the Cavs while dodging everything Just in time, perfect. It feels great to have a healer who won't die this chapter. Ow. Rutger's reinforcements just spawned, and Roy has to rush down to intercept the Pirate reinforcements who are otherwise going to burn the bottom village. Too many enemies right now, Shanna will have to sit out a little (and head back to my bench, since some reinforcements are going to spawn there in a few turns Killing edge get! Now go hide in a corner I love how dodgy Roy is (and all the enemies go for Roy instead of Rutger because nobody wants to mess with HM Rutger So dodgy <3 And strength too! Roy's really trying to impress Clarine. Ladies love a man who flirts with death <: I love how this is a valid strategy. All the enemy hitrates are pathetic on forest!Roy, and Clarine keeps him topped up. They can stay here pretty much indefinitely Slowly but surely Merlinus takes a second death for the team Troll-reinforcements :( The bench is under attack! For Roy, maybe. It's pretty chill on the bench though Shanna (very) slowly kills off those 4 cavs while my other party members try to not die Meanwhile, Roy just calmly soloing an army Shanna loves flirting with death... Last cavalier dead. All these pirates have sub 5% hitrates on Roy, and he can just clean them up at his leisure In all that time, Shanna's only managed to kill 1 cav...yeah ROY4MVP Very slow progress, as Marcus shields the squishies This is pretty much what the entire western front is like Enough so that Clarine can go shopping and buy a mass of Heal staves (God knows we need them) Shanna, kill things faster please, we're dying here! Well that's a start Buying Iron swords, since Roy is burning through them at an unreal rate. ...Shanna passed the bad level syndrome to Ellen Shanna finally kills them. That totally didn't take forever So hand axes are terrible...Shanna gets fed some kills by Roy, since she needs the exp more than he does This is going to Wendy. Preparing to fight Erik Planned. Top her up I COULD do this...but I won't Decide to let Roy chip him down a little Rip Rapier. You did your job (I guess I left a perfect # of charges) Please hit (I accidentally left Clarine in range and Erik's Javelin can OHKO her...and it turns out that he's the only person on the map who WILL attack Clarine) It'll do So this level was +skill 1stat. Franchise name drop that's irrelevant to everything in this chapter but the end-cutscene ...I wouldn't call us an army. It's just a fast kid with a sword and a squishy girl on a WingHorse Shuffling some gear around, getting Roy Rutger's KE. Standard strategies will be fine, right? Please join me now :( You're officially my favorite lord, and I take back every bad thing I've ever said about you. Now if only you could promote at a reasonable time :( Kills and protection. Everything seems like it's under control.. ..until I realise what's coming over the mountains. This is BAD. Shanna murders a mercenary, and then is whisked down to protect the main army by Marcus. Roy's just going to sit on that fort and dodge everything they throw at him Their only non-zero hitrates. Roy isn't dying any time soon At least my army isn't totally disgraceful Shanna hit A-lances recently, and considers using the Silver lance, until she realises she can't ORKO because she's TERRIBLE. LOL. Uh. I'm bad at positioning? At least she's hitting those 68 hitrates. I think 4 of them (factoring in true-hit) comes out to like 45% CoS on this course of action Flirting with death is a happy happy pastime in this army. At least Hand Axes suck. Sadly, Shanna sucks too. Dodge 3 would-be-lethal-attacks. PLEASE HIT AT LEAST YOU CAN DO SOMETHING RIGHT <3 Meanwhile, Roy's taken 0 damage up there... ...until he steps off the fort, and I HATE THE RNG SOMETIMES At least he's dodging SOME things Realize that I actually have to do things other than turtle, get pretty-awful-but-50-uses lance. Shanna ends up in range of the nomad, so Roy ends him That's...a lot of axes And the main party is under threat. Stupid reinforcements Does this remind anyone else of that Trial Map where Roy has to solo 8 million unpromoted Fighters? Brigands are again rushing my bench. Roy's busy fighting every axe user ever born, and Shanna... ...is cheating death I forgive you. At least you're diverting almost every enemy on the map. Things are starting to get a little dicey I send Rutger up north to distract the two Hand-Axe brigands, while the rest of my army tries to dodge the Steel Axers See above. RUTGER Things are looking up? Sigh Breaking out the Silver lance, those hand axes have to die Meanwhile, at Roy's life (every enemy stupid enough to get in 1range is dead). All those hand axes have 0 hit What a mess. I have mostly my tankier bench units on the edge, but any bad RN string could end me here. Second hand axe down. My second rank units can breath safely So yeah. Hope to avoid those bad RN strings STRENGTH And Roy...just wow. Gets me an AMAZING final level. Roy for best Jeigan, he now has +4/+5/-1/+6/+9/+0/-1 compared to Marcus Shanna finally manages to clear off the last Steel Axe brigand, after my characters have dodge an absurd number of potential lethal blows. Meanwhile, at Roy clearing his way through some upper enemies I'll take strength! Almost done! Terrible idea incoming? But then he crits and totally makes up for my terrible tactical skills That's not magic! (But I'll take speed, she needs to not die as my primary healer) Terrible idea... Roy starts to chip instead, leaving Dory on 2... ...This might be the worst idea I've had in a while. Making a save-state here... ...that I didn't have to use! You're useful! *sheds tear* Shanna dodges, but Roy's all worn out from dodging all those hand axes last chapter Should probably slay some armors Dorothy reequips Roy's iron sword after to conserve Armorslayer charges...I'm going to need them later I'm so proud of you No, this definitely wasn't dangerous, why do you ask? (I think she had like a 80% chance to die that EP...) The situation (note my healers are nowhere near my army) ...so Dorothy's still low on HP. REWIND Better.. BETTER Clear out the middle group of enemies, situation is stabilizing Oh hi! Time to neuter Cath You're the greatest, Dorothy. Never change Healers are freed! Shanna on a suicide mission to stop Cath from leaving, but she just casually dodges everything like a champ. She's really starting to pick it up after a bad start 1/3. Soon... DOROTHY <3 She don't care about your lethal damage, either Player phase: Once I clear out these enemies, the map is pretty stable...but they're pretty threatening Dorothy heals and chips... ...Shanna finishes the north archer And Roy wipes the other one off the map Awesome! Not awesome! Shanna, I should never compliment you I may have made a mistake...REWIND Alright, we should be good now Re-get level 16. Just as bad... I love letting my healers get hit by things, why do you ask? I survive EP! I...I forgive you... Re-get level 7. At least I still got magic! Murder! Death! Kill! Suddenly, EP reinforcements. I hate this game sometimes But Ellen's cool Clearing them out Misposition. Fall back! More EP reinforcements Why do I keep doing this? Roy chips in an endless abyss... ...and Dorothy finishes for Strength! Dorothy, you're so amazing, I just want you to know. Healers healing healers, because I do stupid things like this Shanna doing positive damage to armors? These guys suck Meanwhile, Saul's just been sitting down there the entire map. This is intentional, I don't want the EP reinforcements from the bottom of the screen to come yet, and they're only triggered when my entire army advances up As I prepare to start opening doors, Clarine continues to disappoint me. I wanted to use her endgame, but at this rate, I might be using Elen/Cecilia as my 2 staffbots. Chip and snipe the remaining straggler Bow user #2 Get! She takes the other Iron Bow Shanna takes a small detour to murder a dude... ...while Chad loots Murder successful Loot successful (the other chest had 3k gold), preparing to breach room #2 EP reinforcements incoming? Yup. Clearing the room. Forgot to show Sue's bases, but here they are. She's decently fast, but whether or not she gets used late depends on how much she procs Strength. This is so amazing, especially since I need to to be really good for the Ch.7 wyverns Getting some damage in and keeping my guys topped up Not strength, but defence is nice! Roy for best Jeigan Shanna chips for Dorothy... Just kidding, she wants all the kills to herself So Dorothy claims the soldier instead Unlock staff get, and given to Ellen More enemies revealed Have I mentioned I'm terrible at unit positioning yet? But Ellen decides to reward my bad play with an excellent level (well it has magic) Dorothy continues to be awesome, I still can't believe how much strength she got Sue finishes the mage for a myrmidon level Sure, speed works. Chipping an armor... ...That's an Iron Bow. <3 Dorothy Heal and move Loot. Dorothy takes the bow, but I have no axe users this entire run except Echidna and Wendy. I'm starting to think I should let Wendy have Armads, since Milady is obviously taking Maltet. Unlock and loots. Shanna gets a second Silver lance, since that's the only thing that salvages her awful Str. Roy gets his weapons back, since I'm planning on proccing lots of reinforcements Tank and chip, standard strategies And we clean up, easy :) Top-up Roy, we're proccing reinforcements! Slaughtered. Plenty of chipping from Roy and Shanna Myrmidon level again Break a heal topping up Bad screenshot of Roy chipping that armor for 22 More chip? And Dorothy finishes. I'm trying to preserve her Steel Bow now, because I know I'm going to need it vs Wyverns next chapter <3 MVP. You're everything I ever dreamed of Chip and slay Chip and slay again. Yeah, I just beat chapter 8 :) 8 and 8x are going to be my Wendy and Lilina training grounds You could also have Roy Dodgetank Leygance to burn out his spear(this gives healers exp too) and then have fun chipping him to death. If you dodge, it doesn't use up spear charges! In any case, I didn't want to boss-abuse for exp [spoiler=Chapter 7: The Circle of Death, pt.1] This chapter was...well, pretty hellish, as expected I'm coming for you (and Wendy)! The team. I bend the rules slightly and bring Marcus to meatshield, and to rescue Roy in place to recruit Zealot t2. I'm pretty sure this is the (first and) last time I deploy a male character to meatshield. Chad is here to open chests/steal, and Merlinus is Merlinus. The face of hell. Loots this chapter (aka Chad's justification for his existance) STRATEGY (Clarine and Marcus rescue/drop Roy up there so he can get Zealot/Treck t2, so I can continue to have no males doing damage!) A good EP, even if that Physic jerk undoes my chipping Chip and kill, clearing the way for Roy to talk to Zealot Greens Get! The Longbow, physic and KE will all be very useful coming up Sell a lockpick and 2 Red Gems Hi, 5000 gold! Just the boss left Excellent. I need me a new Rapier, and the Barrier'll be useful for grinding whichever of Ellen and Clarine sucks less Roy hits 2/4 attacks on EP then PP... Leaving Shanna to finish! She's almost level 20, and she gets to promote with the Ch.8 Elysian Whip to become Marcus 3.0 Lets just get some more healer exp before seizing ...I hate you so much Unit Recap! Versus averages, they are: Roy: +0.8/+1.4/-1.5/+2.4/+0.6/-0.75/+1.3. He's been doing excellently, and being above average, especially in speed has really made the early-game manageable. Shanna: -1.1/-1.4/-0.9/0/-3.8/+0.2/-2.5. Seriously. She is absolutely awful compared to averages, but she's also one of my only 2 frontlines, so I slap that Silver Lance on and make her do things :( Ellen: +0.4/-1/+0.6/-1.6/-2.6/-0.4/+0.2 Clarine: 0/-1.5/0/-1.5/-0.25/-0.5/-2 Wow. My two healers are so unbelievably screwed on every single important stat it makes me cry inside. I can't wait for Cecilia/Niime at this rate :( Nonetheless, they're both still useful healbots, even if they suck at healing and suck at dodging Dorothy: -2.35/+1.5/-2.95/+2.05/+0.15/+0.35/+1.35. Dorothy really knows how to specialize in what matters, and carries my player phase offense at this point Sue: +0.15/-0.1/+3.15/+1.45/-2.5/-0.7/-0.05. She's...really overspecializing in those myrmidon stats. But that's what Roy's for! Shanna tries to chip for Lilina...but misses both attacks Lilina don't care, though. Whips out her Elfire and murders Leygance anyways This is going to Lilina. Poor Ellen is going to have to wait til C18 (I think Sophia has dibs on her C14 one)... Loots. Silver Axe is going to Wendy or Echidna, Secret Book likely Sophia (maybe Wendy/Lilina, we'll see) Shanna for Jeigan! She has (just) enough speed to double Henning now, but is any weapon she isn't weighed down by does 0 damage to him... One final level from healing. Luckily, everything turned out okay) THWOMPY takes 1 for the team (That reads 15 under the x2). Lilina appreciates the hand Clarine gets in on the self-sacrificing thing Wendilina OTP ...this isn't what I meant by self-sacrificing The teamwork brings such joy to my heart Lilina tries to bait, but that's a stationary mage... So Shanna chips him for Lilina instead, for yet another Mag level (some speed would be cool, though) Futility is beautiful As usual, I'm a premier tactician who absolutely isn't totally dependent on luck This is Henning. Henning is very very scary. An idea of how helpless most of my combat units are against him (half of them get ORKO'd by him with hand-axe at 2-range too...). The most damage Shanna can do with a double is 2x2... So Roy gets Henning-slaying duties Shanna chips him down for Lilina (and takes 12 on the counter) NO! :( (Lilina gets rescued and dropped back because she gets ORKO'd by hand-axe) Shanna tanks another hit, misses the counter LILINA PLEASE HIT. MISSING WOULD BE BAD YES! Well...defenses are good? 33 turns of feeding kills. Gimme dat Oh dear...I have archers and THWOMPY, maybe I have a chance? Get outta here, Narcian. Oh I wish I could use Percival this run... Stat comparison vs averages: Lilina: -0.05/+0.75/-1/-0.85/-1.5/-0.1/-1.85 Wendy (after factoring in Angelic Robe): -0.8/-0.2/-2.2/-1.2/+1.4/+4.6/+0.2 So Lilina is overall slightly below average, but nothing too crazy. Wendy is...that defense stat...yeah. I don't even care that she has no offences to speak of, she's SO UNBELIEVABLY TANKY. A question to those of you following this: Please let me know if there is anything I should change since I'm new to LP-ing? i.e. do I have too many screenshots (200-300 per chapter), are you enjoying the commentary, is there anything you think I'm doing wrong with my screenshotting, etc.? I'm actually on C13 right now, a little backlogged with the updates, but Wendy is a tanky beast. I'm going to spend the next 7 chapters or so grinding up her axe rank for Armads...she definitely needs defense first to survive the Western Isles...bad offense can always be fed kills to, but bad defense on a front-liner is just asking to die [spoiler=Chapter 9: Fir breaks Iron Swords, pt.1] Background stuff - Elen has the Torch staff as my primary staffer. Noah deployed to recruit Fir Gets a Mag level with the Torch, I'm happy Rescuing Ellen to a safer position, setting up my formation She's so tanky! Lilina cookin' Shanna chips, Wendy misses and Sue cleans up The recruits. Team advances. Shanna is flying off on a solo mission to grab the Silver Sword village before the pirate reinforcements start spawning. This should make the pirates all go towards the middle island, where I plan on parking and powerlevelling Fir What would a chapter of this LP be without my healers getting attacked a hugely unnecessary number of times? Some other things also happen on EP, ends up looking like this No defense, what a fraud (in seriousness, 7/9 levels of defense is nuts, and she needs the Str. Could stand to proc her 40% speed growth, though) Chippin' and Dippin' More chipping Shanna's EP on her solo mission...she accidentally crit-killed that Fighter on the left shot Good job, Shanna. You may suck at combat, but you're great for chipping and errands! Also, her defences are actually the best on my team outside of Wendy Player phase go! Lets torch up and scout. Nothing happens this PP other than a slow advance Pretty uneventful EP, too, but Fir comes into view. Great bases for a level 1 unit (HM bonuses <3) Noah is too far away to recruit him this turn so we back off Get and equip Fir OWWW. The nomad doubles, too. Other than that, it's an uneventful EP Sue continues to get fed kills, and continues to disappoint me with her inability to get Strength Chipping the nomad to kill Yeah, feed that nomad to Lilina... ...it's at this point where I realize that I'm an utter and complete idiot. REWIND. Shin's stats. Note how he's unbelievably superior to Sue by virtue of having strength. Sadly, we can't use him (he's one of my favorite characters...and yes, I totally forgot he existed and murdered him) What I end up doing on Player Phase instead. He's trapped with no real options other than shooting Fir, who can take 1 non-crit pretty safely and doesn't get doubled. Otherwise EP is uneventful Hi Shin! No, I totally didn't just fry you to a crisp. Wendy, please hit attacks when I try to feed you. I know you're skill-screwed, but still... Fir takes the kill, and in the meantime reminds me that the RNG is cruel Meh torch level Get thee on the bench This will rapidly become a running theme THWOMP DEPLOYED I don't even care anymore. You STILL HAVE BASE MAGIC. Clarine is getting benched so hard The RNG giveth, and the RNG taketh away (HOLY CRAP A SACAEN GAINED STRENGTH, STOP THE PRESSES) Rest of EP goes nowhere See, Fir? (Please ignore the standard 'healer getting attacked by enemy' screenshot) And then Fir becomes Sue (but that point of speed helps her to double those Pirates, so it's all good) Absolutely awesome. Lilina really needed that speed The Fir montage begins. She uses 3 Iron sword charges per Pirate, and there are quite a few pirates here...Also, Defense and speed is always a good level Excellent. You're going to be doing that for quite a while Wendy heads east for the villages... No, don't become Sue, please. At least you're still dodging and killing things You too! I get to feel like a competent tactician when you dodge things! That's doing a surprisingly high amount of damage I mean, this is a pretty good level by my Shanna's standards... Let's just take a quick pause here to study this Wendy. She has 40% Str, Skill and Speed growths, and only 30% Defense. So far, in 11 levels, she's hit Strength 5 times (pretty average), Skill ONCE (WHAT?), Speed twice, and Defense NINE TIMES. That's right, she's +0.6STR, -3.4 Skill, -2.4 Speed, and +5.7 Defense. IN ELEVEN LEVELS. WHAT. I have never ever had a single character skew THIS hard. I guess she traded in all her Skill/Speed to Sue, and instead got ALL the defense? For reference, my next highest defense on a character is SHANNA's 10... Fir continues her lifelong dream of slaying all the pirates, and gains my eternal love (and more strength too, I guess). By the end of this chapter, she'll have used over 70 Iron sword charges... I love how dodgy my entire team is Shanna does her job pretty well, I'm not gonna lie Standard pirate-slaying montage, and a level. OW. Archer in the fog gets what's coming Pirates. Going Lalum's route (was there any doubt? Echidna and Lalum are female, Bartre and Elphin are male...) Lilina joins in on Fir's pirate-slaying, and gets the level this chapter yet (possibly the best level this entire LP?) Many many turns later... Let's restock on Iron swords, since Fir seems to like breaking them Clearing out boss's mooks, when Fir gets EVEN MORE STRENGTH. I'm so happy~ B Support get! I knew there was a reason I picked you over Clarine Fir cannot be hit by you mortals Buying Fires for Lilina, heals for the healers Great Scott! Those are good stats, but she needs speed pretty desperately by this point Good enough, but 2 capped stats (in her highest growths) mean her coming level ups are likely to be grim Some slow chipping... And then Lilina, after burning Scott to a crisp, decides what she needs to do is hit EVEN HARDER. Benched so hard it hurts. I can't wait to get Cecilia... So uh...where did all my funds go? This guy looks so shady (actually he looks identical to Wagner. You know, that other evil Shaman) My set-up. Lots of axe users mean Fir is going to have a field day here, while Shanna is sent off to hunt the ballistician Shanna does not approve of your oversized bow. Just doing the feeding kills thing as usual This is a pretty nasty EP though Start of PP. Wendy is clinging onto life despite being insanely tanky... 23 damage...wow All should be good...except for the part where Fir has to dodge a LOT of things on EP Fir is my favorite myrmidon ever (just ignore the fact that FE6HM Rutger exists please) Shanna REALLY does not like Ballistae...(she's actually perfectly safe here) The front is looking pretty good! (Please ignore the bow-lock standing in melee range of 2 fighters) See? Exactly as planned. Make sure he doesn't manage to hit anything before Roy gets to him That 1 point of speed was actually worth the double-chip, sadly enough I like Magic as much as the next guy, but please consider gaining the ability to double things. All is good. Pirate reinforcements start spawning... ...and we all know who loves her pirate reinforcements Shanna finally returns from her Ballista-slaying duties (she's so useful for a characters who's stat screwed. I guess this is why fliers are OP) Acquired and benched. Wendy/Echidna will use that sometime...maybe. This is so adorable~ The other character that has to do things Yeah. She's cool. Good, good, let the chip flow through you. End turn. Spot the flaw... ...oh. oh no. Please don't take 3 or 4 damage... As wonderful as this is... It's not sticking. Damnit, Clarine. I hate you so so much (okay so this was technically my fault, but still) New formation has no issues Speed on a chipping level? I approve very much Gonzales loves raiding and braiding. That's why Lilina can recruit him. You're everything I ever wanted in an armor (LOL at her getting a myrmidon level) <3 At this point I'm pretty much unstoppable Well, 2/5 stats isn't bad She might not be QUITE as thwompy as I thought. Luckily, she dodges that fighter's double and all is good Okay. This might be a problem, since Lilina is nowhere near him But I need Lilina to finish off the Berzerker first Meh. I'm sure there's a joke to be made here somewhere The 2 disappointments doing what they do. Sue's gotten 2 Str on a 30% growth in 14 levels. We move south, while Fir continues to eat pirates for dinner Disarmed. Now go raid the bench Nothing's happening... Then enemy phase reinforcements happen. Just feeding kills to Wendy as usual. Gonzales courier service At this point, I realize that Lilina's level 17 and I have a guiding ring, so I...move her ahead of Wendy? Turns out she has no defense worth a damn. I find her death quote hilarious, by the way. Lilina gets Magic. What a fippin' surprise. I let Wendy get a kill, and she gets EVEN MORE THWOMPY. I don't even understand how this is possible. She averages 18 defense at 20/3, and that's with a +3Def promotion bonus. Lilina farming, I really want to promote her this chapter. Meanwhile, up north, Fir finishes the last pirate and gets A swords. 16 levels in 2 chapters just feasting off pirate reinforcements is pretty cool. I really regret selling her Hero Crest in Ch.7 (idk how I forgot she needed one), but at least I get one after next chapter (assuming I can save all the villages) Them attacking Wendy is good... You're a failure. This time, I move Roy in support range to give Lilina +defense. Ends pretty well We're out of Fighter reinforcements, and Lilina is 18.93. Let's feed the Nosferatu shaman to Lilina... ...WE HAVE A NEW BEST LEVEL The boss. He's honestly not that threatening, considering that Lilina is going to tear him a new one I'm all set up and ready to roll Alrighty... ...defense is good. Well, she's going to murder everything in sight.
