Moishe Oofnik Posted March 13, 2015 Author Share Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) Day 1: Turtwig>Grotle>Torterra Turtwig functions alot like bulbasaur in that they have stellar early game and become worse as time goes on Gym performance is the best out of the 3 possible starters early game in the fact that he laughs at roark doesnt really care about Gardenia and has the bulk to handle with maylene and laughs preety hard at crasher apart from buizel (ice fang) fantina is preety joke in platinum and he is strong against byron(again ice fang is only threat but he rapes the other teamates) candice is his worse gym (gets raped by everything) but he is really good vs volkner because lol electric (And ill get on luxrays shit tommorow) his elite 4 performance is mediocre he doesnt exel but doesnt really suck in vs any canidate Now for stats Torterra is a TANK like he can live hits for days with his with 95/105/85 Bulk and hit hard with 109 attack but there is a catch he is sufficently dragged down by his typing and somewhat (but to a lesser extent) speed issues but he gets a good movepool (bite early game razor leaf etc. also the best move in the game earthquake) he also gets a grass flare blitz later on which is awesome for him he really doesnt need alot of tms but overall a greatpick and In my opinion if you are just starting out platinum use him as he generly needs less support then the other 2 starters In short turtwig has: Exellent earlygame Good performance the entire playthrough Rape defences bad typing diverse movepool for maingame Meh E4 9/10 for turtwig inteam wise and 10/10 in difficulty (you get him for free) Next Time Chimchar (Hint he is The Overrated Most consistent starter) Edited March 13, 2015 by TTPK_Tal Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Tortterra has some good alternatives for grass and ground types, (Roserade, Mamoswine), which makes him fairly replaceable, one of which can be obtained pretty early on, which somewhat lowers his value compared to the other starters. However, he does work well against a lot of the gyms, and his ground secondary type lets him work against those pesky fire types, particularly the rivals Infernape. However, deathly allergic to ice, but Ice type isn't particularly common, and is a rather poor typing, so it's a fairly easy weakness to cover.
