How can you tell the difference between criticism and someone being an asshole?

kinda like this. what if crit is based all around false info that doesn't help anybody? is it still constructive crit? i mean, if the intent is there, and both the positive and negative feedback is there...

Whether the advice is "valid" or not is subjective when it comes to art. There are cases where giving an idea is objectively not useful. If you said something like "setting it to grayscale mode will make it more colorful" then you are stating a falsehood and are not being constructive. But if you say something like "using grayscale mode may look better" that can be constructive. You can't be "wrong" about what is more appealing.

yeah so I went back and apparently I missed 2 pages of this thread

To be fair I only remembered this thanks to gnome child somehow becoming a meme (like seriously, how lol?)
