Paralogues and Gaidens

I have a possible theory what may happen, since Hoshido sounds like it'll have the map system like FE2, 8 and Awakening, we'll have Paralogues in that particular scenario. Able to visit them any time they become available etc.

While meanwhile Nohr will go the route of Thracia, Binding Blade, Blazing Sword, and Shadow Dragon which had conditions on getting bonus chapters

What do you lot think?

I personally find this interesting enough and valid enough to happen in the game itself. Maybe in the Paralogues or Gaidens, we get to recruit new characters and also get character from the enemy faction who you couldn't get in the map they appeared in because of plot reason (like if they had retreated or where captured by Nosferatu monster). These paralogues could also give us more of an insight on why the heck the Nosferatu are around and do a bit of world building which could also be rather nice.

I hope they do this. A lot of the Paralogues were basically just Gaiden chapters anyway, except that they were on the map to do whenever. There's got to be something for the Nohr path.

That sounds like a logical way to do it. As long as the condition isn't killing units of course, not like that will happen with casual mode of course.

I highly doubt the Shadow Dragon conditions will come back haha, plus as you said it would be just plain GOOFY with casual mode.

I feel like Nohr will give you the option to do paralogues ala FE7 style. If Hoshido will be using a world map system, paralogues might be able to be freely accessed any time.

It would be quite cool if it worked that way. Although FE6 style would be interesting too. Because alternate endings :P

yeah that was a joke but i do wonder what conditions there will be, just basic turn counts and maybe a few odd keep people alive, or if there will be more complicated ones like have a certain unit visit this specific village, get at least a certain amount of experience, Escort a random npc villager out of a group of npcs to a specific door. (perhaps with mire sorcerers to complete the thracia vibe.) any cool ideas for possible conditions?

Though casual mode might not exist in Nohr but still no killing units to get other units plz.

Certain amounts of exp, beating a chapter in X amount of turns, sparing a certain group of units who may be forced to fight against their will. Etc

I don't know, maybe we can even include Kamui's special terrain magic and the conditions could be like intercepting the enemy before they join the main squad so the retreat somewhere where the Gaiden will be as we chase them down since they needed to take a large detour cutting them off from the main squad or like cutting bridges for similar effect to isolate other character who will be captured, but will escape later and you have to capture him again before he is able to safely escape the map.

Whoa, a map where you can't let an enemy escape. That sounds kinda new for Fire Emblem right?

It's often a secondary objective to intercept thieves with treasures before they leave the map. But never as a win condition. The closest I can think of is rout within X turns.

hmm with Kamui being a dragon deer its possible for a gaiden chapter to have a unlock condition such as "kill the chapter boss in x turns using Kamui's dragon form to finish the boss. Noting the environment of Nohr and due to trying to reform the nation from within Complete x chapter killing as few enemies as possible or some sort of challenge being presented on a fog of war map.

yeah nohr might have stealth objectives for gaidens and i like the idea of using certain units to kill the boss, but i still get annoyed with the deer thing deers do not have long tails.

I would rather gaiden chapters return to the FE7 style. Hear me out on this. In FE13 you could do paralouges at any time during the story, this could ruin the mood of the story depending on the chapter( Doing the happy go lucky paralogue 4 right after the depressing chapter 9).

Did you read my original post. I was talking about how Nohr will likely do what you just said and Hoshido will likely go the Awakening route lol.

About Nohr path: Yes, please.

But they need to have interesting and challenging conditions, similar to Thracia 776 and FE7. Players should be rewarded with more levels by playing well, not losing characters. Yes, I'm looking at you Shadow Dragon.

EDIT: And please bring gaiden chapters inside of gaiden chapters, like the one from FE7.

Honestly I expect the Gaiden requirements if Nohr uses them to be very akin to Thracia and Blazing Sword. Binding Blade turn requirement ones wouldn't be too bad either though.

It sounds like how they would make it work.

I would be perfectly fine with it.

I would be fine with this, as long it's not, get this one character to level 7 and you have absolutely no hint of needing to get them to level 7, and then in this gaiden chapter kill this optional tough enemy where if you don't kill him in one turn he runs away and you can't get the gaiden, otherwise you get the gaiden. IF you're doing Hector mode.

Because that was stupid and how anyone is supposed to figure this out on their own without a guide, is beyond me.

"Kill this tough but completely optional boss" seems like a fine Gaiden requirement to me. Figuring out that you have to kill Kishuna in one turn is pretty easy, too (though possibly rage-inducing). I agree with you about Nils, though.

I'd like to have FE7's general system of Gaidens, both in terms of requirements (minus getting Nils to lv. 7) and fitting fluidly into the plot. FE12's and especially FE13's sidequests were completely off-topic and detracted from the main story, which didn't help the already iffy plotlines.

I wasn't complaining about the boss part of the requirement, lol.

I was mostly complaining about Nils because, you are not naturally going to even get him to that level in Lyn mode if you're playing at an average speed. You have to grind.

Lyn mode is optional by the time Hector mode is unlocked.

You can only get it in Hector mode.

...yeah, thanks for that cryptic gaiden IS.

But yes, I'd like gaidens to be plot relevant and not just extremely off topic from the main plot, it was a really weird way of going about it, looking back.

Ah, forgive my misunderstanding. Indeed, the Nils requirement is just awful from every angle.

I'm fond of the requirements for Night of Farewells. Can be tricky business, that one.

(For those who don't recall, it's: recruit a lv. 10 Mage, then get her to talk to an NPC who's surrounded by enemies, only has a 20-uses Killing Edge, and is in real danger of getting killed, then ensure both of them survive the chapter. Also, it's fog-of-war.)
