For reference, those only work on o3DSes with a browser version under 9.5.

Us folks with n3DSes have to content ourselves with the NTR debugger, blah.

Ah, no wonder people have moved on to Gateway Cheats and NTR Debugger. Ah well. ymyn taught me how to convert his SE Gateway codes to ARCodes, so I am working on them now.

Edit: Alright, finally looked into it, and I converted all the codes ymyn posted on the Gateway Cheats topic for Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition. Thank you to ymyn for providing the conversion from Gateway Cheats to ARCode for the SE and Exitium over at GBAtemp for already converting some codes:

Hello, I registered so that I could ask some questions.

First of all, I'm completely new at hex editing or this sort of stuff, so whenever I see stuff in the hex editor I'm completely lost. The reason I registered is because I want to know if there's any way to edit the name of the units, because I want to change some names [mainly Niles to Zero] but I just... get lost everytime.

So, uh, can I change names with a hex editor or do I need something else? and if so, what is it?
Thank you in advance for your answers and sorry for taking your time.

Did a search in this topic and no mention of the swimsuit outfits being in the data in the US release, but not available. So here I am wondering if there would be a way to use cheats to purchase/unlock them? That is, if they are still fully functional.

Is it bad that I won't play this game until it's done so? I haven't opened the Special Edition yet.

(Well, I haven't played it yet cause I'm focused on last minute FFXIV things lol)

Haven't seen the data myself, however when I transferred a Japanese save that had swimsuits to the English game they vanished.

Tried using ARCodes to get Chrom's Falchon (attack allies+enemy drops equipment) anyone else who was thinking about this, don't. Chrom's Falchon doesn't exist outside the DLC, it becomes an item known as none that doesn't do anything.

Duh?

I did a playable Chrom mod where he joins you, and the same thing happened with him, he vanishes when the map ends because none of the data within the map exists outside of it, so Frederick, Lissa, Chrom, or Falchion are not usable in the main game, neither is the cleric class nor the Male Lord class, also fun fact, Lissa's class in Japanese is "Sister" and not cleric, Frederick's class is "Frederick (male)" instead of Great Knight.

I am new to Hex Editing, if I wanted to edit the gold values, where would I begin in FE Fates SE?

Edit: Also wanted to ask, how I could go from ARCodes to like NTR plg? I have everything set up, just doesn't seem to work on NTR. Also ArCodes never works for me.

I know there is a project being worked on to try to restore the content for the US version of Fates and adding the fan translation with it, and the audio since they shipped the game with no Dual Audio function, really they added that in Awakening and leave that out? Some of us like Japanese VA Nintendo :\

Anyway I kind of grown accustomed to the English VA, but Marth is kind of hard to get used to seeing how used I am to hearing him in Japanese, and even when I played through the Japanese version.

So I was thinking of just replacing the audio for Marth with his Japanese audio, and wanted to know where I should look in both ROMs?

As of now, replacing just a single character will possibly be impossible, you either replace all of them or none, because all of the voices are stored in a single file.

Speaking of which, when replaced do they all match up properly where they belong, or is the order of the voice clips in that file all weird and messes up? I think an undub was already made? Not sure.

I've had experience doing an undub of One Piece Unlimited Adventure, and all the voice clips/sfx were in a brsar file. Was a pain to replace one by one haha.

Nah, no one's made an undub yet, although I could try my hand, but my 3DS is currently indisposed and in need of a hardmod and NAND reflash, so I wouldn't be able to test it :p

Oh. Oh well, so much for that.

Meh, main thing that has me going is getting the other amiibo units through the story seeing as I don't have the other three amiibos. Its sad when you order a Japanese Marth amiibo for the sole intent of unlocking him in Fates and likely never use him again. XD

I just want the rest, mainly so I can hear how off Ike sounds from Smash Bros, really just listen to his voice it sounds different from Smash, and just hearing Robin and Lucina being two badasses by tipping the scale, and challenging fate.

All saves work on all versions provided you own the path the save is located on.

Jap SE save was used in USA Birthright, worked perfectly, also tried a Japanese Birthright save in USA Conquest, no problems either.

fyi several of the japanese VAs' contracts prohibit the distribution of their work. NoA was legally unable to release the japanese audio even if they wanted to.

I wonder why? So their voices don't get used in internationl versions of the games, they don't get paid for that, and they get less money? What's the sense in that? It's not as if people outside of Japane (except a very very small minority) would know their names or recoginze their voices anyway.

Can someone send me a fresh RomFS dump of the digital version of FIre Emblem Fates Birthright (I preloaded it)? I can't seem to use braindump myself to extract the RomFS (it crashes every time). I'm still practicing how to ROM hack with HxD but I'd really like if someone could do this for me.

Maybe because they don't see themselves as getting much in return if they cared about profiting off of having their voice work distributed overseas? Maybe they don't care about profit and simply don't want their voice work in for their own reasons. like feeling that it would be wasted space with most people like you said not knowing their names or voices and most likely wouldn't care to use the Japanese voices. It's probably the same reason Mortal Kombat saw no Japanese release after the third game; they see little point in doing so and don't go through with it for their own reasons.

Hey, would someone be able to point me towards a guide on importing my Japanese saves to my U.S. version? Don't really want to accidentally fuck up my game.

This isn't really a guide but this is what you need to do.

1. Install homebrew on your 3DS.

2. Install a homebrew program called "svdt" on your 3ds.

3. Use svdt on your Japanese game to copy the saves from the Japanese game to your SD card.

4. Use svdt on your English game to copy those saves from the SD card into your English game.

You should be easily able to google how to install homebrew for your firmware version for your 3DS and how to install and use svdt. You need those 2 things.

If you have a CFW then use JK's save manager, which is a .cia version that's way faster, more convenient, and reliable to use.

Svdt will work fine though and doesn't require a CFW.

No CFW i'm afraid. Thanks for the heads up, it's good to know anyway.

Hi, I'm new to the hex editing scene, anyone here can give me some pointers on how you can have more than one type of resources like that picture above? So far I've only figured out how to edit the amount of gold. Additionally, would it be possible for me to get some of the dlc skills? I've run into a dilemma where i need to update to 10.6 in order to play the dlc(s) which I've already purchased (map pack 1) It's a big disappointment that i would need to update in order to download those maps..
