Ragefest IV Hack - EnderSlicer's Escape

So, what is Enderslicer12's Escape? It is a FE8 FE7 hack that I've been working on for the past 5 days for Ragefest 4, as of writing this post. It started as being based off of a Project M stream that MarkyJoe1990 did but over time, I decided to focus more on gameplay, rather than plot, because i'm a terrible story writer. The hack has been designed to be RNGless. There is only one way to win.

Plot summary: Enderslicer12 got trapped in a castle by EvilEggoWaffle for some reason, and now you must escape the castle, fighting off the generics in your way before the turn timer expires. Traps and unknown forces also seek to impede you.

Note: The hack is impossible to complete unless you possess knowledge of a certain exploitable gameplay mechanic only possible in FoW. And no, it's not the Mine Glitch or Torch Staff Glitch. Nor does it involve enemy spawns.

KNOWN BUGS:

_____ will say his battle quote again after dying for some reason.

Characters will not move their mouths when talking for some reason. (that or they talk with telepathy?)

The boss will say "get" twice in a conversation.(text error)

HINT SECTION FOR THOSE WHO ARE SCRUBS

They say fire makes you move more if you step on it when you're tired.

Careful observation is key.

Take every opportunity, for they may disappear quickly.

LESS CRYPTIC HINTS IF U HAVE NO BRAIN:

When you are about to fight an enemy, if you still have unusued movement points(as in if there were no enemies, you could've moved more), use the Torch Staff on the tile you're going to attack the enemy on, and you will gain Canto(extra move) after the battle.

Carefully observe enemy inventories, Some may contain the key to victory.

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:

Patch to a CLEAN FE7 rom using something like Tsukuyomi or any other UPS patcher.

CHANGELOG:

VERSION 2.0 CHANGELOG:

Buffed Vulnerary uses(probably were too little)

Fixed inaccurate Hit during the battle with ____

____will now show death quote after the battle is over(wasn't showing when dying in battle)

VERSION 3.0 CHANGELOG:

Fixed many bugs with convos and death convos not displaying.

Updated descriptions of the Torch Staff and Pokey Stick.

Added in a little secret. (credit to Nintales for the idea and MrNight for the implementation)

Ending scene will now play properly.

Game over will now display upon Enderslicer's death.

NPC character will now warp in at the proper location.

Vulnerary has been un-buffed.

VERSION 4.0 CHANGELOG:

Removed unnecessary critical hits.

Fixed a potential bug that could cause the player to be trapped.

VERSION 5.0 CHANGELOG:

Fixed a text skip in the convo with EEW upon battle.

Battle between ___ and the NPC character is now more one-sided.

Weapons and Torch Staff uses have been buffed.

VERSION FINAL CHANGELOG:

Adjusted Torch Staff description.

Let me guess, it involves multiple enemies spawning on the same tile in FOW?

No, i'm not that evil. It will be something that once you figure out, makes the hack a lot easier. If you can't figure it out, then you're going to have a hard time. It's moreso something along the lines of...."movement optimization".

If you need a beta tester, I'm more than game.

Just PM me a patch if you want me to test and give my unique perspectives on it.

It's still in dev atm, I'll make it available to the public when i'm done with the majority of the work and weeded out anything game-breaking, as well as polishing.

Well, i've run into some delays, mostly that FEditor Adv doesn't want to start up and giving a bunch of null pointer exceptions, even though i have a relatively new version of Java and the latest version of FEditor from feuniverse so....yea. Hack is going to be delayed a few days.(i might have to get that week-long extension...)

i'm running java 8 and FEditor works fine

I keep on getting that FEditorAdvance.app failed to launch and whatnot.

EDIT: Updated Java, still same problem. I don't even know what to do anymore...

it's the glitch where you H@×××××XX :3 no easy way out for you. Oh god I just gave up any semblance of maturity I have.

It may or may not be delayed by a day because FE8 event assembler language is stupid, but I'll get it done as soon as possible! I literally just need to figure out how the FE8 unit loading commands work, aswell as warp-in commands, and its done :/

if you built it like it was on FE7 and didn't account for the majority of fe8 weirdness and just replaced the parts that don't assemble i'd be surprised if it works

At this point, I'm just considering caving into the pressure and making the hack in FE7 and save myself a lot of time...

Right now, when I try to load the hack, all I get is a convo that plays itself twice, a map that fades in and out twice, a single enemy stuck in a wall, and the main characters with no weapons...yep time to just build it on FE7 and save myself time.

I don't know if you're changing to FE7, but the code for loading units in FE8 is

_LOAD1 0x0 Bad

To load the "Bad" group of units. There is another code you have to add after that, or for some reason the game fades to black, but I couldn't find it in any of my files, and I think the forum it was on got deleted.
