I'm surprised no one is talking about Nyx(spoilers)

Gameplay wise she has one of the best in-battle models if not the best in the game imo. Not only that her default class of sorc is tied for best animations with Elite Ninja imo.

Story wise

If you read her supports....wow. Basically she was alot like Tharja when she was younger but much much worse. While tharja mostly casted curses at people that were mildly annoying like making them sneeze and just threatened people, Nyx actually killed alot of people, she came up with new spells and tested them out on people for fun even if they would die. As a result she accidently cursed herself. But shes also matured alot and seeks to atone for what she did. I think shes a really interesting character.

Does Nyx show up as an enemy anywhere in Hoshido route? Every other playable character seems to appear as an enemy at least once in routes where they're not playable but I can't think of anyplace for her.

Except Izana in Invisible Kingdom. And Gunther, I guess, although he's still playable pre-split.

Not having the opportunity to dive into support conversations (I try to unlock them myself), the only comment I have for Nyx so far is her awful Skill. She can't even land hits consistently on axe units.

I used Nyx briefly on the third path. She was frail, had awful dodge (her luck was terrible) and durability, her hit sucked, and just wasn't worth it for me in the end. Never again.

It's stated multiple times that she has the appearance of a child, but she never looked like a kid to me. Her JP voice isn't that childish. She carries herself like an adult in her portrait (good job on part of the character designers for this) and she doesn't look that small in her battle model.

I'm pretty sure shes immortal unless she finds a way to break the curse. Though if her minds still aging idk if its possible for her to die when it goes or something.

Yeah lategame Lances and axes basically one shot her. I'm considering abusing my castle this run to get her all the breaker skills so she can reliably dodge hits.

Yeah you'd think she would look like Nowi but before I read any of her supports I had no idea this was her gimmick.

I think that might be the case as well, she states in one support she is a few decades old so I imagine at the very least her brain still ages and will eventually give out. If thats not the case,She also seems to be able to die by conventional means, IE if she gets a sword in the gut she'll still die. I imagine thats why she wanted to commit suicide.

Yeah, I think she's meant to be more immortal rather than invincible. I especially like Arthur's/Harold's support chain with her.

I'm surprised people are saying she's not usable considering that growth-wise, only Elise has her beat as a Nohr magic user, and there alot of frail characters considering this is low-hp-emblem.

I also like her appearance; though the only problem is that Ophelia stole her hairstyle and added bust on top for a OP combo attack. :P

I really like Nyx, she's one of my favorite Nohr characters!

At first, when I got her in Chapter 9, she was so weak, I was surprised at how quickly she could die. But I insisted on using her, because I knew how much I liked her pre-release. Now I'm around Chapter 22, and Nyx can really wreck pretty much everything. I fed her one Angelic Robe, and my luck with her HP Growth Rate just grew from there. She's still fragile in defense, but her resistance and speed (and magic, but that's expected) are insanely high.

As a character, I really loved reading her supports. Despite her past, she seems really calm and mature now. I also really like her design, and the fact that she's my only magic unit (was my only magic unit, recently got Izana). I ditched Camilla, Elise, and Leo so I don't have any other magic users. Kamui's magic stat is nice, but she has only an E-Rank in tomes.

I actually grew fond of Nyx. I like her a hell of a lot more than most of the characters. She has a very interesting backstory and her voice is nice despite from what I am reading she is not a very good unit.

I don't have the game, so I can't speak combat-wise, but I love her design, and she has a very interesting character and backstory. I especially enjoyed her supports with Flannel, and with the Nohrian bros.

She's a character that expresses genuine remorse for her actions, and is mature and intelligent without being boring, which is a nice change of pace.

Both she and Nowi have questionable designs, and the fact that they're young-looking is always brought up; Nyx herself talks about children and her appearance all the time.

Granted, Nyx is actually a mature person so it's less icky, for the lack of a better word, but it still bothers me.

Well, child porn is a 'no no' in Japan, so they get by it by through anime crap. Disturbing, no? So she doesn't age because she's immortal but her outside is younger than 13. It's that easy. I agree though, I like her, but somethings just off putting.

I used Nyx during my entire Nohr playthrough (Hard) and while she had her uses, she was definitively one of the least useful unit on my team.

She had good magic and decent speed (enough to double anything slow).

However, she had three major issues:

1) Her Skill is low. REALLY low. I'm talking 11 skill at level 20/10 sorceror. Low hit rate = not reliable unit. Her Luck is also abysmal (7 at level 20/10). Missing a killing blow and getting retaliated by a crit is a distinct possibility with Nyx.

2) Her durability is not too impressive. She can sometime survive one attack at best. That's sort of better than a few of the other mages, I suppose...

3) Many other units could do everything she could, but much better.

Elise utterly smashed her in every single stats besides Def and HP; smashed as in 10 more magic, resist and speed at the same level, alongside with about 20 luck.

Ophelia (Dark Knight with Effie as mother) had a tiny bit less magic and speed but much higher everything else and had access to good physical damage via decent strength score and swords.

Eponnie (Adventurer with Azura as mother) with the C-rank magic bow actually was much better all across the board than Nyx in everything except for HP; so adventurer Eponnie was actually able to deal more magic damage than Nyx ever could (And could also heal, attack at 3 range and deal good physical damage on top of that).

Nyx was not useless (How can you be with good magic and acceptable speed?), but so many units were better. Her, Pieri and Belka were most likely my three worst units on my playthrough.

I actually rather dislike Nyx's concept, because it just doesn't fit itself sensically. She's supposed to be one of the oldest and wisest units, but if she was so old and wise, why would she be so thoroughly fixated on her own appearance - to the extent she considers it a worthy punishment for having murdered countless innocents?

A few decades later when the back pains would've set in, she would likely prefer this form to her actual age anyway. It's just poorly thought-out.

The implications of your statement rub me the wrong way. Should people who look young be deprived of romantic relationships solely due to their appearance?

It's far more concerning when Nyx is paired up with the younger units, because Nyx is so much older than them.

It's strange how she looks older then both Sakura and Elise, yet there's always a stink about her looks in the supports, but no one bats an eyelash at those two.

I really think Nyx can stand out, if you feed her the proper stat boosts, because that skill (35%) and defense (20% lol wtf) isn't gonna do anything for her.

And I haven't been critical-attacked by an enemy that actually killed my units. One was on Charlotte, who had like 60 HP so that wasn't gonna kill her. And the other was blocked by a Guard Stance (thankfully it works). I feel like Nyx's lacking skill isn't much of an issue, because I usually send her off to take enemies that can fight back. And if I do have her in trouble, I make her equip Nosferatu or have Silas rescue her. My Nyx has 17 skill and 17 luck at 20/14 Sorcerer.

Her defense is... god-awful. I think Vengeance and Nosferatu really do patch her up though. I might have gotten just lucky with Nyx? I felt really determined to use her, so I pushed to make her good with stat boosts. Without those boosts, I feel like I wouldn't be using her right now.
