Arizona just narrowed, Trump is meeting what he needs.😨 It comes down to the final batches, drop-off ballots instead of late mail-ins, will their composition be different?

Supposedly, this was his last hurrah. He likely won't have as big gains for the rest of the count. Maybe.

That's what I've been hearing, too.

AZ will be done soon, though.

EDIT:

I just want it to be done already even if he closes the gap by a little bit more tbh

EDIT again: Nevermind. The next Maricopa release is not expected until Thursday night, but seeing how they've been surrounded by pro-Trump protestors with guns all night, I'm fine with giving them a break.

I think there's one thing both sides can agree on. Japan definitely found the best way to cover this election. Having chibi mascot and expressive portraits of the candidate react to the poll is quite cute.

lol japan

Okay, predictions before I head off to bed again.

- We're getting blue Georgia, folks. It's going to drive them insane.

- We'll keep other states we've gone ahead in. The lead will just grow in the blue wall states; NV/AZ/GA will be razor thin victories but...

- Outside of Trump's penchant for hiring absolutely terrible legal counsel and doing horrible in court, rest assured there has been plenty of busywork put into preventing the Republicans from stealing the election back in the summer. The wider the margin of victory, the less likely anything will hold water in court. I'll stop short of saying we're out of the woods because I'm not a lawyer, but... yeah. With any other team I might be more worried.

Trumpism isn't going anywhere any time soon but cures to that sort of disease don't show up overnight.

Imma going to call it now, Biden's going to make a surprise win in Alaska just to make this race closer XD The other states will probably finish counting aaround this time next year.

That wouldn’t make it closer lol

It'd put Biden at 1 electoral college vote away. With Trump still potentially winning by picking up everything else. Though people seem to be acting as if he's won Georgia already which my data says is still neck and neck. So idk. Maybe my information is faulty.

Georgia Seat 1 has entered runoff territory as Trump's lead shrinks closer to 10K. Nevada is also looking callable, creating a bit of a crisis for Fox News who prematurely gave Arizona to Biden and now must either uncall that or be the first network to declare Biden a winner. It's good drama. And me without my popcorn.

"Administrative work"? 🤨 I better not see them at Hershey Park today.

Please tell me Hershey Park is a place made entirely of chocolates.

It's a theme park in the town built by Milton Hershey. It's owned by Hershey's and it's relatively popular.

Cool. Do they have a chocolate factory that shows you disappointingly little but the trip is worth it due to a small sample of chocolate you earn at the end of the tour?

HAF gave you the basic answer already, I just happened to joke with the place because I went there once as a kid. Maybe I should return there eventually after Covid ends. Although instead of the lodge, I think I'll stay at the Hotel Hershey and get a cocoa massage.

Yes, you go through a tunnel ride or something, I remember that. And there is no shortage of buyable Hershey chocolate or memorabilia to buy there, I got a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup plushie as a kid.

And to remain on politics, 🤞 that Nevada is not a blue mirage. -But Biden still needs to be assured of just one more state!

So, what's this talk about Biden turning America into a socialist country? Because my stepdad had an conversation with me about it, saying that under him; companies will take their jobs to China, Mexican immigration rates (and the problems that comes with it) will increase, ICE will be disbanded...

I'm tuning him out because I don't really watch the news and I'm finding this to be a little bit hard to believe. But it's an recurring topic with him and he's too dense to notice that I'm sitting there, not giving much of an fuck.

ask any actual socialist around and they will laugh at the concept that biden is not a capitalist

i know it's cliche but whoever does say that sort of thing thinks anything left of the republicans are socialist or communist

(trump also outsourced more jobs and deported less people than obama during his time in office, but that's conveniently ignored)

As reading stuff on Vox and The Atlantic has told me (be it right or wrong), America's increasing polarization means we're living in separate realities, without a shared common ground. I think exit polls put Trump supporters at only 8% thinking Covid was a serious issue.

In other words, regards of who wins, America is in no mood for unity. As the Gap found out when they had to drop ads of a jacket yesterday (when was yesterday? 35 years ago?) that was half blue and half red.

The red scare is an enduring trope in US politics that the Republican party seem particularly willing to abuse to proclaim on their opposition. That's nothing new.

When Sanders is seen as a downright communist, you know that it's pretty baseless. Never mind trying to use it on Biden.

It doesn't really matter that it's baseless if you can convince people enough that they are the enemy for such acts.

Ah yes, the very socialist maneuver of replacing your workforce with cheap labour to increase your profit margins. With all due respect, I don't think your stepdad knows what "socialism" means.

(and no, Biden isn't a socialist. Heck, neither is Bernie, really)

I can't say that I closely follow American politics, but I don't get it either. Biden is still fairly right-wing, (He'd be in the Right-wng Canadian party, the conservatives, if he were Canadian) just ore centrist than the Republican party. Bernie Sanders is somewhat socialist, but Biden certainly ain't. I don't think there's any plans for America to adopt socialist laws such as Universal Healthcare, political reform or the like.

America is simply further to the right than some (or many) other first-world countries.

The fears of socialism are entirely the product of conservative hysteria, an accusation that is a remnant of the three-decades dead Cold War. The winds of radicalism change over the decades, and currently the radical threat to America rests on the far right.

Fun Fact: In Germany, mandatory health and accident insurance were introduced by Otto von Bismarck (not a socialist, in case anyone is wondering). edit: But, to be honest, he did so in an attempt to weaken the socialist movement.

This isn't supposed to be a jab at you at all - only in general, it can be very strange to European ears what is considered "socialist" in the US.
