Basically, because they're protesting things that GOP gets behind on these days (anti-vax, anti-race discussions), they're arguing that any investigation into threats and harassment of school board officials is a violation of Free Speech
No one puts a bigger target on Free Speech than the right with this kind of shit lol
And supposedly, the school board has been asking Biden for help and that's why the DOJ is involved

At first, I was worried about some nonsense from my state of origin. But it comes across as little more than a virtue signal to gin up existing persecution complexes. So it's not good, but nor is it a bill that would have any direct material consequences.

Something something "freedom of speech important, freedom to criticize the government especially so, but threats of imminent violence toward elected officials undermines democracy."

@eclipse I know which post that you deleted and I don't hold it against you.

And the QAnon stuff gets weirder each year. Yesterday, people were gathering in Texas to celebrate JFK Jr's nomination for Vice President...Except that he's been dead for around twenty years.

But I've seen people who believed in weirder things, though.

It's nice to see Biden's "Build Back Better" policy working. It has done wonderous things... for the Republican Party, as this Virginia Governor's race has shown.

if only the democrats weren't the weak pos that they are... 😢

kirsten sinema is a witch that should be burned at the voting stake.

Not only did the Republicans lose Virgina, but the Rebublicans have 50 seats in the Virginia Assembly as well! It seems that it never rains but it pours for Biden and the Democrats!

As a conservative, I'm glad that some Democrat senators can actually think for themselves, instead of being mindless sheep who go along with the radical left members of their party without question.

To be fair, thinking of oneself does constitute thinking for yourself.

Gloating about how the heroes' compassion is actually their undoing. Wow, I thought that only happened in childrens' storybooks.

I think even Fire Emblem games have the dignity to edit that scene out.

I'd say that Biden is playing the part of the villain, not the hero. After all, he wants to dismantle everything great about America and replace it with socialism, and that's not what heroes do.

If it wasn't clear, boiling down the situation to heroes vs villains was me pointing out how juvenile that take was. Incidentally, I would love to hear what about my country is or ever was Great from somebody who had never set foot here. Please, give me that Brexit perspective.

Like what?

I really don't know, at this point. Most of the outrage that I seen is related to whatever Trump says, even though that he isn't in office.

The only things that might be on the table is that the millionaires might see another tax hike, that infrastructure bill, those stimulus checks (which I'm not entirely sure that he started), an increased tax credit for having kids, and the push towards green energy that can't really be attributed to just a single person.

But I  also haven't really looked into what's happening, lately.

He's a center right politician who was successfully running against the leftist faction of his party though. So why would he replace anything with socialism when he's not even a left wing politician?

Because he's not right wing enough. Anything left of the far-right is by definition left, and anything left is all about that socialism-communist crap, and if they say & do stuff that goes against socialisms-communist crap, it's lies and deceits because far-right knows for a fact what the left wants.

Define socialism, and how Biden's policies advance socialism.

Just ban him already

Now now. If we banned people just for having bad takes then at some point we'd all be banned.

To believe in outlandish Republican talking point might be kinda very  dumb but we're allowed to be kinda dumb.

Aren't she and Manchin senators in republican leaning states? Maybe they're afraid of losing their seats in the next midterms.

Manchin is in a red state, Sinema isn't. And Manchin is going to lose his seat in the midterms, regardless of what he does.

Does a Democrat have a chance of winning there?

No.

It mostly had to do Manchin being Manchin than being a Democract. It's like if Mitt Romney suddenly became Democrat or just went Independent. He could still have a shot for staying Senator since his main draw is the Mormon vote, not the Republican one, despite the heavy overlap. Or so I've understood the situation over there.

sinema has been a progressive her entire career until.....when it matters the most....

manchin is a dino so his opposition is expected. nytimes daily had an execellent ep on sinema wherein they said they basically have no idea why sinema has 180'd and that in the end it's really only hurting her and her legacy.

i guess this is why i'm not a politician, but if i were in either of their shoes, i'd be gunning for the most progressive policies possible. laws are really hard to undo and dems have been incredibly bad at holding power for long in congress. dems have absolutely no chance at holding congress come 2022 so i'd make damn sure my legacy is in passing revolutionary climate, voting, and civil rights laws. and fuck it, i'll try again in 6 years!

oh, and taxes/infrastructure/education would be other priorities.

@NinjaMonkey i forgot that your 'perspective' isn't really based in reality so i have no more comments for you lol.

So then. How about that school choice, lads? I think it's pretty cool. Didn't really think of myself as the type to so strongly support it when I was younger, but it just ended up happening, I suppose.

No idea what you mean by school choice, but if it's about choosing a college to go to... I'm still working on that one.
