GhebFE: Episode 11: Chapter 9: Part 1: Fighting Pirates So guys, there was something I forgot to show last time... That's right! Our very first PREPROMOTE! He hits hard, and is really fast and tanky... I do NOT look forward to fighting him! So, all these pirates are heading straight for the village. The only feasible way it isn't 100000% doomed is if Glen stops them with Kiwi's axereaver! Private phantom is as moderately useful as ever. The enemies outmatch him really badly, though. Mine! I once again use Mooving's mine. It's been forever since I've needed it. Amelia must still be suffering from shock after that A support... Ack! Pirates! Heading for the other house! I gotta get over there! Really, having a siege tome-even if it is a pseudo-siege tome-this early on is quite helpful. Though, it's not that helpful because of how bad it sucks. BOB THE RAPIER Crit! Strength! This guy is the best thief ever, seriously. Strength cap! Fighting these pirates is really quite profitable. I hope we get some promotion items soon, my units are hovering at about ~16 right now. More people... soon, a giant flood of units will come our way! These pirates are heading for the house! However, with my SUPREME EXPERTISE, I placed units to divert those pirates and only those pirates! My distraction can't fail! Oh, well, I guess it could fail if the pirates TOTALLY IGNORED IT. Selena gets a bad level. She's gained like 14 levels and no defense! Come on, lady! If the house gets destroyed, I won't have dragonshields to give her! Here's how things are looking. Glen's in trouble, but his distraction worked and I think the house is still saveable. The units on the bottom part are preparing to charge me, and that other house isn't looking like I can help it... Honestly, with this guy's growths, I'm surprised he's doing as well as he is! (He gained a point of res after I took the screenshot) Die! Die! Die! Dangit! Dangit! Dangit! I call BS on this one! I put units that should have distracted the pirates, and I was moving as fast as could reasonably be expected! Come on, game! Oh, what? Why did the screen scroll over here? Yeah, I'd suggest taking the free Brave Sword and lockpick, and then never using him. Since he's an extra character, I won't be able to get his growths either. Position! Map! Holy crap there's a lot of dudes! Let's look at the greenies... First up we have Denning, who seems like a REALLY GOOD archer. I want to see his growths, but he seems to have at least a good score in literally everything. Oh hey, just noticed this. Interesting. Karla seems to be a crappy prepromote swordsmaster, like Ava from Road to Ruin. We won't need to use her, hopefully. (Note the class description. Most of them are normal, so that's a new thing...) Finally, Tethys! She has an actual special class, which is basically a mage with dancer-esque stats. No, she can't actually dance. However, I already have Selena for all my Anima needs. Sorry lady! The generics haven't gotten noticeably more insane. My units are starting to catch up! We've got a big bounty of droppables and a stealable. Very nice. Oh, what? She's, well... she's here, I guess. And now, for the boss... ... WAAAAHHHHH!!! I DON'T WANT HIM TO BE PABLO! WHY SALEH? WHHHYYY!? So, his stats are amazing, but it looks like he's doomed to a story death, without killing Gheb with his own bare hands... I'm not in the mood to talk more about him right now... NEXT TIME: Are you ready for BS! No? TOO BAD! GROWTHS: Tethys: HP: 85% Magic: 30% Skill: 60% Speed: 70% Luck: 80% Defense: 30% Resistance: 75% Total: 430% She seems like she would be a very useful, if not powerful, mage if you wanted to use her. Ah well. Karla: HP: 50% Strength: 45% Skill: 70% Speed: 75% Luck: 50% Defense: 20% Resistance: 40% Total: 350% Her growths are high, but most of it is in a stat she's going to cap very quickly and then not really go anywhere from. This coupled with the bad bases means we're not using her. Denning: HP: 75% Strength: 55% Skill: 50% Speed: 40% Luck: 45% Defense: 30% Resistance: 25% Total: 320% Despite the amazing bases, his growths are only okay. Judging by those percentages, he'll either get RNG-blessed and succeed in everything, or RNG-cursed and become the master of none by endgame. We're gonna try to use him, and see how it works out! Marisa: HP: 75% Strength: 30% Skill: 55% Speed: 60% Luck: 50% Defense: 15% Resistance: 25% Total: 310% She's Marisa. And she sucks. We've made it to the double-digit chapters... The greenies are actually programmed to not move and only attack things they can hit without moving. A small mercy, considering if they charged out like they did in normal FE8 they would just die instantly. We'd bets get out of that Sleep's range. ...Dangit. Keep moving, team! A three-squad of super enemies is invading now. It doesn't help that Tethys is the weak link of the team, and she could've gone on a fort here but didn't. At least Karla can help with them! Again, like in normal FE8, the bandits are piling up over here. This chapter was always kind of crazy, really. Hey! We've got this now! Reddier: You’re up. Marisa: Point me to where. Reddier: That direction. Marisa: Allright. Are you sure she’s in there? Reddier: Postive. Marisa: Good. If it’s false info. I’ll cut you to ribbons. Understand. Reddier: Ack! No comment. Hey! Wait a minute! AGH! MARISA! NO! DON'T HEAD THAT WAY! So, half of the bottom squad moved towards Karla's group, and the other half is heading up. This is good news, since now Karla has less to deal with, and bad news, because Marisa is going to be difficult to recruit now! In fact, I'm fairly certain the AI should have gone for Karla. Did the make modify the enemy behavior here? Anyways, Private phantom is still helping out! We're getting closer to the green dudes, but we also have to hold out against the enemy army on the top... So, it turns out Mooving is effective against all fliers. Why a 0-MT defense penetrating lance is effective against anything, nobody knows. These guys are so strong! EWAN MUST FIGHT THEM ALL! Great! Not great! Ow! Ow! Leave Tethys alone, losers! And then one sneaks past my line. And this happens. A lot. RNG abuse may have been involved. Lucky me... Things are looking really bad, but if we can survive a bit longer I think we'll be okay! Heal! I'd just like to remind you all that bandits are the weakest enemies here. You're so annoying! DIE! Blah and blah. STUPID FRIGGIN SHAMSHIRS Level re-get. Not sure if worse or better. Kiwi! Block the enemies from getting to my squishies! Ewan again takes most of the hits, including this RNG-defying one. But at least he l- GOSH FRIKKIN FRIK So yeah. It is VERY possible for Tethys to die before you can get to her. I'm reluctant to call BS since there probably IS some crazy strat to get there first, but it's DEFINITELY going to require luck for a normal player. Yeah, yeah. A bit of RNG abuse later, Tethys survives! And then Marisa attacks the swordreaver guy like an idiot and ALSO dies! Even the prepromote is in danger! Colm gets a level. It won't remain. STOP. DOING THAT. ENOUGH!! Hurrah! A good level! It's working... we're gonna do it! WE'RE GONNA LIVE! Ewan got a perfect level! We're doing it guys! We'- WELL CRAP Okay, let's gloss over all the failed attempts to survive here. Because there were MANY. Let's just say that yes, I did eventually do it. Riev recovers, and Gheb gets into the fortress to recruit the allies. Batta gets a good level, and we're able to finish the assaulting force. Honestly, I'd say Ewan actually got RNG-screwed with his growths. But, at least we're finally done with- Tethys... dying... But really, it’s about time. Finally, FINALLY all the greenies recruited! This is where I find out that Tethys can't dance. Healing and killing for some extra levels. Oh come on! Worse yet, Marisa is here now! The pain isn't over, I still have to deal with these jokers! ...Next time! I don't think I can take any more right now!
