Is it wrong to play Female Avatar as a male player?

Its not wrong at all. Although I predominantly use male Avatars in games (both in FE and in other ones with the option), I'll tend to play the female character at least once to experience the different perspective on the character interactions.

Are you being serious? So you think it's wrong to play as a woman when you are male? Ever played Tomb Raider? Heck, ever played any game with a female main character? Because congrats; the reverse is what female gamers have been doing for most of their gaming life! It hasn't killed us, nor has it made us turn into beer guzzling, chain-smoking stereotypes (well most of us anyway). Do you think selecting a female avatar will suddenly make you grow breasts and speak in a falsetto voice?

I am sorry, but this is just hilarious to me.

Like everyone else said, play whatever you want. You're already living out a fictional world with magic, dragons, and who knows what else, I don't think it's that more of a stretch to live it out as a gender and/or sexuality which isn't yours in real life.

The only time it is wrong to play a Female Avvy in any game ever is if your That Guy in a DnD session

But since it's impossible to be That Guy in Fire Emblem, go the fuck ahead.

What is "That Guy" in D&D in this context? I associate the term with someone who is a jerk at the D&D table in various ways, but not sure how these would relate to gender necessarily.

To quote 1d4chan:

"That Guy inserts his creepy fetishes into everything and is the reason men are banned from playing women at your group"

(Noteworthy that I don't actually play D&D because I don't own any handbooks and stuff like that, I just read up on it at 1d4chan, so I may not be the most educated when it comes to terms like this)

You can play as a female but you will be branded "homo".

I mean, physically branded with the word "homo".

This can be nullified with branding "no" in front of the "homo" or "genized milk" after the 'homo" but getting branded twice for the sake of choosing a female avatar seems excessive.

No problem with that, I always rolled a Female character in all my games if I can. (Except DnD, I did it once or twice and let me tell you, It gets awkward fast).
