circleseverywhere
I'm working on a RWBY crossover hack, and thought I'd share some of my sprites.Battle animations:WeissVideo link with custom sound effectsMy first ever battle animation, started out as a simple Eirika edit.PyrrhaVideoI managed to get the pre-battle frames working. You can have a short (30-40 frames) animation at the start of each battle if you remove all C commands from Mode 9 (or 11 for ranged) and add 10 idle frames before the start of your dodge and after the end of your attack. There's no crit yet, just a scribbled concept.BlakeVideoMy favourite so far, a mashup of Lyn/Myrm/SM.Stick figure WIP versionYangMy first attempt at a full custom. Ended up being only mostly custom.Ruby PortraitsTo be honest these don't interest me very much compared to battle animations. I've done a lot of the characters but the quality ranges from simple splices to straight recolours. Have a look anyway: I'm slowly updating and adding portraits to replace the splices/edits with customs: RubyWeissBlakeYang Qrow Cinder Emerald Torchwick Adam Coco JauneNoraPyrrhaRenSunScarletSageNeptunePennyWinter Misc.Weapon Icons Edited January 27, 2016 by circleseverywhere
Lord of Gabriel Knight
Those battle sprites are really nice! Very smooth and clean, nicely animated.
Sweet_Basil
That Blake battle animation is adorable! It's my favorite of the group but I also really like the first and second a lot too.
circleseverywhere
Fixed up the scythe a bit, the transformation also makes a bit more sense now. I think it still needs work, but I should buckle down and get some work done on Yang's sprite first.
Klokinator
Why is this using Yeti's Soldier sprite?
ghast
probs a combination of yeti's stick person bs tutorial and then his bases as reference from his other sprites :o animations are pretty spiffy, and your mugs are decent too. I know exactly what you mean by battle sprites > mugs kek Edited August 28, 2015 by Uncle Ghatsu!
circleseverywhere
Why is this using Yeti's Soldier sprite? Because I came across an old thread with his stick figure WIPs and it seemed like a good idea. So I grabbed a frame with just the enemy and used that for my own stick figures. Klokinator
What's funny is that despite the faces being basic splices, they match the RWBY characters pretty well. Maybe that just means RWBY's characters aren't as unique looking as we thought :P
circleseverywhere
Figured Nora deserved better than a simple Farina recolour. Incidentally, boob windows are really tricky.
circleseverywhere
Made a bit more progress on Yang's stickfigure, this time with a crit flourish. I think the punch needs some more weight, because it doesn't feel as powerful as it should. Maybe I could speed it up, or anticipate it more, or something. Alternatively I could make it an ORA ORA ORA barrage. What do you think?
Klokinator
You could also do a big time screen shake, Ereshkigal style, when the punch connects. It's a simple eventing command apparently :O
circleseverywhere
Oh yeah, forgot about screen shake. Normal hits and criticals already have screen shake automatically, plus C14 and C15 for pseudo-hits. Speaking of which, I should add those to the Blake animation. Klokinator
The part where she has the power-up aura at her feet is a prime spot for the screen shake, just imo. Edited September 6, 2015 by Klokky-Kuuuun!
Maritisa
I say give her some more buildup to the punch as in like have her pull back and then ROCKET forward for the connecting hit. :D Also absolutely yes screenshakes, they do so much for an animation. circleseverywhere
Added some faux-screen shake. I wasn't super happy with the old ending frame, so I'm trying out the Rogue pose instead. Better, or should I go back to the old one? Makes me want to start animating again Yes please by all means I want to see more of your animations Meantime I've added a basic return and fixed up a rather glaring error where she was pulling back the left hand but punching with the right: I think she's about ready to block in. Klokinator
Yeah, the screen shake REALLY makes the punch have some whump.
Keystone
These look really cool! I'm interested in seeing what the finished Yang animation (Yangimation?) will look like. I also like how you incorporated Blake's mirage power into her animation, it's really slick. I can see why it's your favorite one ^_^

Eliwan
I think it's too snappy; personally. Since it looks like it's based in the Mage animation, it looks like it desperately needs part of the turn-around as she disappears into the petals. It kind of looks more like an image, comprised of roses, is split apart by the attack-- instead of her actually dodging it. Ruby isn't a magician, she's a speedster. Either that or the compression of the gif is making me completely unable to see it; which is certainly also possible.
circleseverywhere
I took my cues from the Red Trailer:http://gfycat.com/ShabbyNaturalAustralianfurseal Cleaner comparison:
Klokinator
Yeah I had the trailer in mind when I saw it myself. A perfect appropriate dodge animation. Tbh the biggest issue is that her outfit is still very F-magey while her sister gets a full custom attack, as does Pyrrha. Blake likewise needs to be less of a Lyn Lord. Use those newfound animation skills! Edited September 27, 2015 by ♥Klokinator♥
