Is there any advantage to using Regular Characters in this game?

I'm talking PvP/Potential Apoth 2.0 here-- and I could make a case that Einherjar are better for Main Game too [because I'll hop on the Free Super Premade from a defenseless castle train].

In Awakening, Regular Characters were, defacto, better thanks to Support being as powerful as it was-- because it was centric on one of the biggest damage increases in the game: Dual Strike.

In Fates, Support basically got beaten to a pulp with the nerf hammer. Dual Strikes were removed from their dependence on Support-- which basically renders it pretty weak.

Furthermore, regular characters-- at least the kids, in Awakening, had better mods than any Einherjar, which for the most part, when combined with their superior Dual Strike rates, outdid the skill advantage that Einherjar had by large degrees.

In Fates, this isn't the case-- since you can get Einherjar of the normal Characters.

Direct Benefits of Einherjar in Fates:

Einherjar in Fates can circumvent the Limited DLC item thing- something "Real" characters can't [since we can use the Logbook trick on Einherjar for such things]-- an entire Army with Aether? Can do via Einherjar. [At this point it'd have to be female, but we can expect to get Vanguard for the males sooner than later].

Einherjar in Fates, if what that Commie Bastard on GameFAQs said is true, circumvent the 50 statue limit [and through crafty use of statues and logbook updates, can utilize EVERY SINGLE ONE]

Utilizing Einherjar lets you selectively pick any class for any character or simply stat load-- Every Child with an Ideal Stat Allocation via Kamui parent? Feasible by using their Einherjar.

I'm really not seeing any benefit to the normies in this game.

You lose, maybe 3 points here and there. Maybe-- depends on how much Dual Guard Stance you're using.

[And for Main Game: Find unarmed Capped Castle. Fight. Win. Get Capped Einherjar. You know the Address, don't make like the Valuans. Go again. Repeat collection of Einherjar until you have a handful. Roflstomp. What's worse than Premades-- the real ace in the hole breaker of Awakening [can get past C3 on L+? If you ground out the Renown, you can sell yon S.Emblem. Recruit a LB capped Premade. Throw it at all the things. Easy L+ Clear.] FREE Premades. And that's EXACTLY what Fates offers.]

Well... I can think of a couple reasons to use normal units in PvP.

1) Guard Stance increases stats based on support level slightly(especially those concerning speed).
2) Statues aren't in effect for PvP, so that doesn't matter.(Or can at least be turned off.)
3) Children's higher stat caps are nothing to sneeze at.

AND THE BIG ONES

4) PERSONAL SKILLS. These things have some pretty dang big impacts on battle. Arthur and Charlotte have crazy crit levels, Subaki has some damn good dodge tank implications, some units make support better, Kaze's support is amazing, and Pieri with Galeforce/Copycat/Both is terrifying in PvP.

5) PERSONAL WEAPONS. Oh shit, these things... are so.... good. Like they are comparable to S rank weapons or are even better. Ophelia as the only child with a unique weapon and a good personal skill seems particularly potent.

PvP has been confirmed to use Statues.

Kids increased Stat caps are great, but here's a kick, Einherjar kid has the same caps-- lose support, gain a bit more utility.

4 and 5 are out the window when you consider, you can run Einherjar of the characters as-is.

[And besides the Personal Weapons are nothing more than flashy stat sticks, and that's about it for optimized gameplay, Forged Killers and Braves will be eclipsing them]

If we are considering no rules PvP, then this is all pointless to talk about. You can just use whoever you want and turn them into a OHKO machine. No reason to use or not to use Einherjars or Kids or Parents. Like... why care... you can OHKO their units with a Brave Weapon with any unit then have Galeforce activate and kill the next unit.

1. Guard Stance bonuses - You lose about a total of about 17 stat points compared to Einherjar in exchange for 5 stat points (highest 3 in a single stat?), which is a bad trade-off, but for very specific builds you might care about having that extra 3 points in Skill or Speed.

2. Attack Stance bonuses - Huge bonuses to accuracy and critical. Not that useful in the current PvP meta, but once Warp comes out it might become important for 1-Turn win strats since the enemy is bunched up at the start (warp in bruisers, first kills are solo to activate Galeforce, second kills can take advantage of double attacks).

3. Personal weapons - Einherjar can't use them and don't get the bonuses. Not worth the statue trade-off for Ryoma and Marx, but Kamui gets +16 total stats and Takumi's terrain nullification is useful. Leon's... might be useful if you're building a magic tank? Not really worth it.

4. Character-specific personal skills - Namely the three servants. You can get disgusting avoid by pairing up Trueblade Kamui with Joker and using Breakers+Mist blade.

5. Dragon's vein - Einherjar can't use it (including royals), and you can't use the DLC blood on them.
