Choosing the Best Class for Hinoka (Poll 9)

Hinoka.The eldest daughter of the Hoshidan royal family. She fights with the strong desire to protect her nation, marching for the battlefield despite everyones objections. Her nature is more of a warrior than a princess: plain and honest. The most caring.

Spoiler (Marriage/Buddy Seals)

A Marriage/Buddy seal allows a unit to reclass into one of the select class trees of his spouse (S support) or buddy (A+ support). A unit may only achieve an S support with units of the opposite gender (exc. Kamui, Syalla, Zero), and may only achieve an A+ support with units of the same gender.

(The credit for the following information goes to Gayserbeam, as I copied the wording of his explanation. Check out the Class Changing and Inheritance Thread for more information.

• If the users Primary Class is different than their Spouses/Buddys Primary Class, then the Marriage/Buddy Seal will reclass them to the Spouses/Buddys Primary Class, even if the user has that class as a Secondary Class already.
• If the users Primary Class is the same as their Spouses/Buddys Primary Class, then the Marriage/Buddy Seal will reclass them to the Spouses/Buddys Secondary Class.
• If the user is married or buddied with a unit who has an unlearnable class, then the Marriage/Buddy Seal will reclass them to the Spouses/Buddys Secondary Class.
  • An unlearnable class is a class that may be unique to a character or their children. The following units have unlearnable classes: Nishiki (Fox Spirit), Flannel (Garou), Azura (Singer), Mozume (Villager).
• If the user is married or buddied with a unit who has an unlearnable class, and their Primary Class is the same as their Spouses/Buddys Secondary Class, then the Marriage/Buddy Seal will reclass them to the Spouses/Buddys Substitute Class.
  • A Substitute Class is simply a select class a character with an unlearnable class passes down under certain circumstances. The following units have Substitute Classes: Nishiki (Herb Merchant), Flannel (Outlaw), Azura (Rod Knight), Mozume (Herb Merchant).

If youre still confused, let me use Hinoka as an example to try and clarify matters!

• Hinoka/Asama: Hinokas Primary Class is Pegasus Warrior, and Asamas is Priest. Therefore, Hinoka would Marriage Seal into Priestess.
  • Hinoka/n/a: not a good example as the only default Lance Fighter is Oboro which the former cannot Buddy
• Hinoka/Subaki: Hinokas Primary Class is Pegasus Warrior, and Subakis is Pegasus Warrior. Therefore, Hinoka would Marriage Seal into Subakis Secondary Class-- Samurai.
• Hinoka/Nishiki: As Nishikis Primary Class is Fox Spirit, an unlearnable class, Hinoka would Marriage Seal into his Secondary Class-- Spellcaster.
• Hinoka/Azura: Avatars Primary Class is Singer, an unlearnable class. Hinokas Primary Class is Pegasus Warrior, and Azuras Secondary Class is Pegasus Warrior. Therefore, Hinoka would Buddy Seal into her Substitute Class-- Rod Knight.

I love Hinoka btw. She's so great. I'll be keeping an eye on this... I must know about her and optimize my favorite girl.

Holy Lancer is probably her best overall class for fighting.

Falcon Warrior would have uses for helping move around your Encouragement aura for the rest of the army, but Holy Lancer offers a lot more firepower.

Holy Lancer is the only way I get any use out of Hinoka. Camilla is a far better flyer.

Holy Lancer, Golden-Kite Warrior, and Dark Falcon are what I think, though I didn't vote Holy Lancer because I really love that damn mystical bird and want everyone on it (I don't care if it's bad)~ Of course, I will use her in Holy Lancer at some point since I've always found fliers hard to use early on, though~

As for DLC, Dark Falcon, clearly makes the most sense as a Pegasus Warrior~

Hinoka's balanced growths are complimented by the class growths of Lance Fighter or Paladin.

With the overall low HP of Hoshidans, I usually like to "encourage" units with good HP growth like Hinoka by putting them in classes with at least a 10% HP bonus, which her default class definitely doesn't have.

Another cool idea with her is to give her Battle Command, Demoiselle and Devilish Wind, which when compounded with her personal skill gives nearby units the equivalent of +4 STR, +6 MAG, +4 DEF and +4 RES. She doesn't do it quite as well as Azura (who's natural Singer skills would bring it to the equivalent of +4 STR, +6 MAG, +6 DEF and +6 RES), but Azura isn't as likely to be on the front lines, so Hinkoa will usually get more use out of the set-up.

It's gotta be Spear Master or Paladin.

Hinoka can really use Marriage Seal with Silas to help her HP/Strength/Defense growth. Once level capped, she can do anything with a Lance really. She can stay a Paladin/Great Knight or use Heart Seal to get to Spear Master or back to a Falcon/Kinshi Knight. It is really whichever the army needs. Out of the 3, while Kinshi Knight gives a ranged weapon option, it has low Strength Cap, and it has low Spear weapon Rank. So it makes more sense to go with Spear Master for S-rank in spear. Paladin is good for weapon triangle control. Great Knight is difficult in Birthright without a source of Wary Fighter skill.

As for marrying Silas, Hinoka synergies with Silas really well. Their Support bonus for each other is precisely what each other needs. During story line chapters, and before Marriage and the use of Marriage seal, Silas can shelter Hinoka against Yumi's. Keeping her as a Sky Knight for a small while helps ferrying troops, which is useful for Chapter 10 Ninja Village. So having Silas' Cavalier to mobilize and shield her whenever necessary while recking up Support Points is really nice. Silas doesn't need anyone to reclass for growth. He stays a Paladin just fine as a final class but needs Wary Fighter skill for General Class. So the Marriage doesn't hurt Silas in anyway. The resultant child is great.

So there is only goodies from reclassing into Cavalier and Great Knight and no reason to stay a Sky Knight/Falcon Knight past Chapter 10.
