I had golden boy stay at the bottom, and with the help of Yang's leadership he took out most of the enemies. I also find the love kind of unnerving and to a certain degree poorly written. no offense blademaster but lovers do not talk like that haha.

The best strat for Ch3 is basically to send Yang solo-ing the bot part of the map with a vulnerary, the Halberd and a Hatchet while everyone goes top and faces the Wyverns. It worked really well last time I did it.

The only plans I have for any difficulty changes this chapter is buffing some of the characters or things like that. I have some new ideas for Charles in regards to what skills he gets as well. Yang is just meant to solo the bottom half of this map. It's how it was designed.

Thoughts on this chapter

Ok storywise, this was amazing. The tension is finally picking up and the game now makes you feel like you are in the middle of something huge and it is going down.

Design wise, it works. It is a good chapter but artemis may be a bit overworked. Stealing 3 gems, opening 2 chests while slaying as many mages as possible in 12 turns is a bit much but optional so it somewhat balances out.

Now what is bullshit however is the 9 turn clear. Either correct it by saying its 8 turns or make the check event be on turn 10 otherwise this is lying to the player's face.

Also took a preview on ch 5.

Ok here is my main problem with this chapter. Those talk conversations needs to be mentioned as the clear goal along with surviving. Sure there were hints the player should talk but at the same time, the hack made it seem like as long as everybody lived, it wouldn't be that much of a big deal. Also having the player play the chapter, then go "tough shit you lose" is kind of a dick move. Sure it's 5 turns but if I had lost those awesome growths behind this shit I would have been super mega pissed. There is not even a hint that this game can have bad ends which is a mechanic that fits more with dating sims than a strategy rpg. I say this because, fire emblem games are very time consuming and to throw this mechanic in there as a surprise is just a bad idea all around. Maybe I wasn't paying attention but this needs to be introduced better to the player instead of just going " surprise! you can get bad ends in this game and you just got your very first one! Now restart bitch!"

In any case holy shit man I didn't think they was actually related.

Thoughts on this chapter

Not going to comment on the stealing for gold thing, that is for next chapter where it is more important

Story wise, introduce the fact the player can get a bad end if they do not fulfill special conditions better

Gameplay wise, the only complaint is the hp of monsters. other than that the chapter still works in hard mode.

In fact, a lot of the hack's problems has more to do with the story than gameplay which is a good thing.

I will talk more of what I am getting at on chapter 6 because that is where it's...I will say where most of my criticism comes to play, which is actually in next post or the post after that.

I was thinking of more along the lines of having it in the README telling the player of the possibility of different endings because having it as a surprise in the gameplay even with hints is still jarring. Don't get me wrong though, this is not ragequitting worthy but just a precaution against players who would greatly be upset with this kind of mechanic. Ultimately as a player myself, it doesn't phase me and I will respect your decision either way.

Ok about the hp, from what I remember its:

Bonewalkers = 28-34 hp (this is the most "WTF!?" to me because they kind of hit hard with good enough defenses. It doesn't help they wield regular weapons too)

zombies = 38 - 41 hp (this however was not that strange to see because they are just slow moving hit bags, it makes sense)

Gargoyles = 28 - 31 hp (also wtf levels but can't really argue why they shouldn't have that much hp.)

eyeballs = they are good enough, not worth mentioning

So based on that I would say only bonewalker needs the hp nerf really. Like 4-5 points off but this is hard mode after all so I wouldn't be pissed if you left it unchanged.

Now for....

Ch 6, part 1: Planning the jailbreak heist

First off I have to say chapter 6 irked the fuck out of me and it took me a few days to properly figure out why so I wouldn't just say mean nonconstructive shit but now that I more or less zero'd in on what it was and why, I can now move on with the LP.

Ok important thing to note, I switched their swords because Artemis has shitty skill compared to Astrea's sexy 12? skill stat so they traded. Oh boy you guys are gonna see this was the best move ever throughout the whole LP so far.

Not showing off this special meeting between dangerous dudes because of image limits and me failing to have something worthwhile to say when the story is doing it's job. Instead will just link the album for those who must read everything and can't (for some reason) play SGW themselves.

So basically promotions has been redone in this hack, levels don't reset and the level cap is 30. Potentially 10 less levels of growths but honestly I have no idea how long blademaster! wants this to be so sounds awesome to me. Also promoting means a growth nerf too.

ch 6, part 2: Holy thunder swords batman!

so here is our babyfaced boss who still plays with toys, believe it or not he is a pretty solid boss for this chapter. I have no complaints here.

The jail cell on J&P block. 2 doors/ 3 optional needs to be opened which means if I send one lock picker down here, 5 turns total wasted that I must plan for.

oh...this chapter has 5 chests as well....well fuck got to plan which lockpicker to send where.

ok this is where I become fully annoyed with the steal shit for gold mechanic. I get gems having to be stolen but does the lockpick really need to be a steal item too? Especially in a chapter with no door keys whatsoever, that should have been a drop to make the chapter have better functionality overall. Now I have to waste a thief to go steal that shit which means even more turns wasted.

I feel like this is annoying because it is starting to feel like that is the hack's answer for everything. Want money? Steal it. Want better heals than nell aka vulnerary? Steal it. Want to open doors/chests but have no keys? Got to steal that shit too. No looting off a dead corpse.

I bet 1k gold one of the future chapters is to steal something to beat it.

I will however admit that chests are indeed optional so this is not that important but this is just about half of the reason this chapter irked me.

Thoughts on this chapter and the other part that irks me about it

It's kind of a huge map but 18 turns is enough so I won't gripe about it. Nor will I gripe about the 15 mt armors.

The armor with the vulenrary by the boss however needs some consideration.

What I am pissed about is that redundant penalty by anna for this chapter. There doesn't need to be one because the chapter itself already has one which is a gameover. Losing 1k gold simply because you are a turn behind the fast clear is just unnecessary punishment.

so to summarize watch out for making stealing your crutch go to solution for many things and I recommend getting rid of anna's penalty for chapter 6 cause of its redundancy. Also fixing the turns on which the fast clear event is suppose to be on or again, the wording in this chapter about it. Also vulenrary grunt armor by the boss is kind of a dick move.

The way to get the hero crest (if you're running out of time) is to actually kill the boss on the last turn with Astrea while Golden Boy or Sexy Serra carries her to the end. Escape missions work if the main character is carried.

yeah I know, problem was I had my horse unit dealing with the jail cells while astrea and aretmis were fighting the boss. I don't really have an issue with the fast turn, its the Anna penalty that irks me really.

The armor with the vulnerary didn't seem like an issue since Ulysses can easily take him out along with your mages or a lance reaver. I think the 15 might armors are a bit high so I'll look into that. It's mainly an issue because they're level 4 and are that strong.

So I found out some things about the magic in this game. Lightning sucks and Jenna is somehow not d ranked in weapons yet.

Also I checked out the readme for the first time to realize weapon ranks give a shit ton of bonuses I plan to abuse.

Light magic sucks in this game due to mainly focusing on accuracy which light magic users never needed.
