llee1000
I haven't played this game yet and a lot of people have said that this is one of the easiest games in the series. How easy is easy mode? And how hard is maniac mode? Lastly, how hard is it relative to other FE games? I've been watching a couple of LPs of this game, but I can't really judge from that. I just wanted to know before I play it in the far future.
Jedi
Its arguably the easiest game in the series, the amount of Bexp and money they throw at you, along with some really good units (and the fact that BEXP can fix any weaker character). The forging being pretty ridiculous on top of the huge amount of money. Enemies are pretty weak overall. Maniac mode basically makes enemies super bulky, but bexp and money still allow you to stomp mostof the game, some aspects can be kinda difficult like early game and some late game gimmicks, but ooverall. Super simple. Despite this, its one of my favorite FE's.
Nobody
It's IMO the easiest game in the series. However, I'd definitely not recommend maniac mode to a beginner (which isn't in the western releases, btw), since it makes enemies way too bulky so you'd probably need to have a bit of knowledge in the game to handle it, but I'd say even HM is good to go. Normal mode is already too easy, but I can't talk about Easy Mode since I've never played it. I'd say HM is comparable to Sacred Stones Eirika route without the most problematic chapters. I still recommend playing the game, tho, even if it's is slow and easy. It's enjoyable. Edited September 17, 2015 by Nobody
llee1000
So how does the BExp system work? I only know a little about it and it sounds super broken.
Anacybele
lolwut, PoR isn't the easiest, that honor definitely goes to Awakening. Easy mode there is way easier than PoR easy mode. xP Imo, anyway. But PoR IS rather easy compared to other FE games, that I do agree with. Watch out when/if you move onto RD though, the difficulty kinda skyrockets compared to PoR.
Ishi
PoR is by far one of the easiest but most enjoyable. BExp put simple works like this after each map you are rewarded said BExp as well as additional xp for completing under certain conditions and the like. In between chapters you have access to the base which you can then distribute the experience as you see fit. On hard mode all BExp earned is halved to make the game some what more challenging. Unlike Radiant Dawn there are no fixed levels so you can't manipulate the game as much, theres the potential for bad levels and amazing levels. BExp really helps for promoting units if you chose to sell or have no master seals.
MisterIceTeaPeach
In FE9 the enemies have pretty eh stats. Even magic users don't hurt much, because dark magic doesn't exist. Prepromotes often have worse stats than first tier units. Since FE9 has the strength as the buffer for the weapon weight, it's very easy to double enemies with steel and heavier weapons and magic users. FE9 is the easiest FE game. Hard mode is easier than FE8 hard mode. Couldn't play maniac mode yet (unfortunately). On easy mode you get x2 experience (at least for non overleveled units I think). Bexp. is explained in http://serenesforest.net/path-of-radiance/miscellaneous/bonus-exp/ You get it for beating a chapter fast, escaping with an unit, letting NPCs survive etc... Shadow Mir
It's one of the easier ones, though I wouldn't go so far as to say it's easier than Sacred Stones.
Florete
I always wanted to try beating this game on easy mode with my back turned. Easy mode in this game is definitely among the easiest in the series, the only contenders being Sacred Stones easy and Awakening normal. The game just throws so many resources at you. ruadath
Yeah, I wouldn't say it's the easiest game in the series; that honor definitely goes to Sacred Stones, where Jesus on Wheels Seth can ROFLstomp solo the entire game (even on Hard Mode). eclipse
This is one of the easiest games, but not THE easiest (IMO that goes to Awakening's Normal, and I'd rank this behind Sacred Stones Easy, FE7's Lyn Normal Mode, and Shadow Dragon's easiest mode). There's a lot of one-time gimmicks, but most of them shouldn't be too bad.
llee1000
Damn... Sounds easier than the the FE games I'm playing atm. BExp sounds broken and it appears enemies are a joke. This will be a an easy game for me, once I get my hands on it.
Jave
FE9 is the easiest overall because it has the easiest HM in the series. FE8 and FE13 may be easy on their easier modes, but they're a much bigger challenge in their higher difficulties.
EricaofRenais
I did a speed run of PoR on hard mode and I normally take a long time to beat a game, so yeah it is very easy but it is still a great game. Just remember that if you want to do a transfer to RD after you beat it you can't transfer an easy file.

I'm not quite sure, they're both pretty easy for hard modes, but I've always thought that FE8 was a bit easier, although after reflecting on it further, I'm not so sure anymore... Radiant head
That, and if you include the JP version, PoR does have a Maniac Mode.
Kuroki
I don't know much about what the actual statistics of things but PoR was my first ever Fire Emblem game, and I had no idea at all what I was getting into gameplay wise. Seeing you have a few fire emblem games under your belt it should be fun and easy for you, especially on easy mode. Can't vouch much on the harder modes, I never really cared for them personally, the only thing I'm good with tactics wise are (on rare occasions) hair-brained schemes that actually some-how work. That's usually when I try to find a lazy way or cheat the system.

I've only played FE9 HM once and it was a while ago, but for my experience, I definitely found it easier that FE8 HM, Ephraim Route, at least. While FE9 does have a few hard moments, FE8 ER still has plenty of BS moments like the Pirate Ship map. That, and if you include the JP version, PoR does have a Maniac Mode. I don't talk about FE9 MM because that mode is not in the version of the game I own, so I expect that when people bring that mode up, they would actually explain how it compares to the other games. DarthMikey
I think Sacred Stones is ultimately easier, but it's a pretty close competition between the two either way. In both games, it's generally just a problem of the enemies being so weak even on the highest difficulty. (Note that I'm not taking FE9's Maniac mode into account here, since it's only in the JPN release.) Of course, it doesn't help either game's case that you get a ridiculously strong Paladin in the first chapter that outclasses everyone else. Radiant Dragon
Lots of people play through Sacred Stones without grinding, but has anyone here played through Path of Radiance without using BEXP? How much harder does it make the game? FE9 HM w/BEXP is no doubt easier than FE8 w/o the Tower of Valni. Sure, Seth is amazing, but Titania is Seth-with-Axes and nothing in FE9 is as difficult as Pirate Ship or Father and Son. Ch. 21 comes close, but Sleep is a lot more manageable than Father and Son's Berserk staves (also, the Druids with Berserk are more accurate). FE9 also has more units with solid bases that can perform well immediately when they join. Edited September 18, 2015 by Radiant Dragon
Jedi
Even if you don't use BEXP, you can still use the absurd amount of money they spoon feed you for forges. Which still allows you to train up Marcia, Jill and the other super grand units fe9 gives you. Edited September 18, 2015 by Jedi

It doesn't exist in my version, which is why I don't talk about it. If you're going to bring up MM, then respond to OP's question and tell him how hard it is. Radiant head
I have yet to play PoR MM, but that should be considered if we're going to make the criteria of "easiest FE game" based on the hardest difficulties. Well yeah, but if you are going to bring in JPN exclusive modes, then that opens the door to use the JPN versions of the other games as well. And FE8 is actually harder in the JPN version (Some enemies have higher stats, Rapier and Reginleif are not effective against Mage Knights, Amelia is harder to recruit because she leaves the map earlier, etc.)
