  1. 1. Are you fine with the direction Awakening and Fates have been taking Fire Emblem in?

    • I love shipping anime characters together!

    • You're not meant to be a dating simulator, Fire Emblem. Stop trying to be one.

    • I don't care as long as the gameplay is good.

    • These answers are worse than Azura's HP growths. My opinion is totally different then any of these!

  2. 2. Are you fine with gender exclusive classes and weapons?

    • Genderlocks are unnecessary. Why shouldn't a man ride a pegasus?
      135
    • Genderlocks are actually a little sexist at times. Looking at you, Bride class.
      27
    • Fire Emblem has always had gender exlusive classes. I don't see the problem.

    • Removing the gender locks on several classes and then adding genderlocked weapons and DLC classes is just dumb.

    • These answers are worse than a promoted Asama's personal skill. My opinion is totally different then any of these!

Eirika's art wasn't bad in and of itself, it was bad because they took a rapier-using swordfighter who fought on the front lines and made her into a support unit just because she got married.

You're a wife now? Go grab a staff and help out your badass ninja husband. Give us a twirl, sweetheart

Yeah, thats my beef with it. I dont actually mind the Bride class too much because Tron Jellyfish Dress is kinda hilarious. But i hated that it was Eirika getting the class and the art in that class. Eirika sticks things with the pointy end. Then she promotes and gets a horsie so she can further stick things with the pointy end. It feels....cheap that she has to be the Bride.

This. Taking a character like Eirika, then reducing them to fetish art is downright offensive.

Eirika actually got character development and as time went on, was just as much of a hero as her brother. Then Awakening comes and they say "oh, she's a woman. let's make ALL of her dialogue about how naive and moe she is and make her eyes as big as her head and put her in a kawaii bridal dress!"

That is exactly what I dislike about Eirika's FE13 artwork and the bride class. She developed so much in FE8 and she gets treated like that. It also doesn't help that her personality gets reduced so much in her outrealm dlc. I'm glad the bride class didn't get brought back.

As am I, but then they brought in the Maid class (i.e. literal fetish fuel), so it's been one step forward and one step back in my opinion.

Dis gret thred

What was the whole point, like, what was going through their head when they decided the derailing of Eirika and turning her into a bride in the first place? She's one of the most realistic and strongest female characters/lords there. What was the moral they were trying to get across?

Also, is there another class you could have made with Hidden Weapons and Staffs that didn't supply fetishes? I know the Maid/Butler is a step back from the removal of the Bride. But I actually can't think of anything else that would fit the stats, skills and weapons the Maid and Butlers use.

I feel like a hypocrite: I do like the Maid class and the Butler class. At least they aren't mutually gender exclusive though like Bride was...

I'm sure that the developers could've come up with another class that could use hidden weapons and staves that didn't pander to fetishes. It's just that they didn't.

Hell, maids/butlers get S-staves, why not make them clergy people who use concealed throwing knives (not calling them kunai) to defend themselves? Rod knight seems to have more associations with nobility than clergy, do they not have religion in Nohr? You could've also given the hidden weapons to the thieves instead of giving them bows, and Nohr's primary bow using class could've been something else.

I like the idea to, and I love the design on the Butler. It's just that the Maid goes for the 'Sexy French Porn Star Maid' look instead of something respectable.

Maid would be less stupid if you couldn't see their panties. Alas, the fact that you can makes it even more stupid than the idea was to begin with.

Yeah... That is really unfortunate. They could have thought of a class that uses hidden weapons without the fetish fuel, but they chose not to. Sigh. I like the butler design, but the maid design just irks me to no end. What is with the thigh holes?

That would have been a great idea instead of the maid/butler class. While it is cool that thieves got bows this time around that would have worked too.

I always thought Rogues would be the logical choice for the Knife/Staff combo and there is some precedent with Awakening's Trickster (where they wield the swords like knives). Rogues in particular could have increased effectiveness with status or debilitating staves to give them a nice niche.

I always thought it was weird that Archer was a Hosido exclusive class because I don't see what's so Japanese about it. It could be a multifactioned class, with different uniforms or colors depending on the affiliation. Maybe different promotion options between Nohr and Hoshido archers; they can both become Snipers but Nohr archers can become Bow Knights whereas Hoshido archers can become GKWs.

Thieves and rogues in Tellius even wielded knives/daggers, which could've been the Nohrian hidden weapon (seriously, why did they name them kunai instead of daggers) and trickster could've been modified so that it wielded hidden weapons and staves. I'm not sure why they didn't do that.

This is based on my own (admittedly shitty) knowledge of Korean culture, but I think eastern societies like Japan and Korea may have been exceptionally known for archery. But yeah, they could've just used "bowman" for Hoshidan bow users and "archer" for Nohrian bow users but they were functionally identical, along with the "sniper" equivalent (where one was called the marksman). I don't know.

Rod knight could've had a second promotion path that was still on foot but more fitting than maid/butler. Why is one of Elise's natural promotion paths maid when she's a freaking princess?

So that people can live out their Maid RPG fantasies? No seriously, there is a maid RPG. Look it up

I think I would've been content not knowing such a thing existed.

The maid outfit in Fates does not look like what I'd wear if I had to clean up after someone. Gimme an old T-shirt and shorts/jeans - something I don't mind getting dirty!

I like Rod Knight/Strategist. Much as the Rogue idea amuses me, I can't see Elise becoming one. Perhaps they could've jacked the Cleric/Curate names from previous entries?

EDIT: That RPG looks like it would be amazing, after a few bottles of cheap booze. But this isn't the thread to discuss its merits.

I regret looking in that link. What kind of person thinks of a game like that? Anyway I can't in any way see Elise becoming a maid. She's a princess and a child so seeing her have the maid class in her natural promotion path is pretty gross. For the Cleric/Curate names maybe they could have used Valkyrie.

The same type of people who think they'd make a game about dick-pics and got it banned on Twitch.

The entire topic of "Why play for the maid fetish when they have a maid RPG?" is no less different than why play this like a dating sim while actual dating sims exist.

Has there ever been a class that uses swords and staves? I imagine Valkyries could be a flying class with ranks in Sword and Staff that trades some speed for better defenses.
