That is...completely different than what I had originally assumed;

IIRC, Midoriko, Lutz, and Kanna are supposed to be roughly around the same age and are the youngest of the children characters. Unsurprisingly, Siegbert and Shinonome are supposed to be the oldest of the children characters.

I've read pretty much every translated piece of dialogue I can find and I have not seen direct numbers for anyone's age, so there's no proof whatsoever in the actual text that Camilla/Hinoka are specifically 17. There's only really relative ages alluded to.

Both Kazahana and Elfie are reportedly childhood friends of their respective lords, but it doesn't mean that they have to be the same age as their lord, just not a huge gap.

well i picture xander ryouma to be similar to chroms age from awakening which i think was confirmed somewhere between 17 and 20 and sakura elise to be around lissa's which i think is 12 or 13 leon takumi would be 15 or 16 while i can see camilla hinoka 14 or 15 also azuura seems about 15 i would say all children are 10-13 totaly not severa inigo and owain are most likely around 14

All this talk about Anime Ageing reminds me of the Grand List of Console RPG Clichés (although I suppose JRPG would be more appropriate).

Logan's Run Rule:
RPG characters are young. Very young. The average age seems to be 15, unless the character is a decorated and battle-hardened soldier, in which case he might even be as old as 18. Such teenagers often have skills with multiple weapons and magic, years of experience, and never ever worry about their parents telling them to come home from adventuring before bedtime. By contrast, characters more than twenty-two years old will cheerfully refer to themselves as washed-up old fogies and be eager to make room for the younger generation.

I can't imagine most of the characters as that young. Maybe it's just because I'm old, but Marx LOOKS old at least.

As for the retainers, Saizou and Kagerou are probably older than Ryouma, maybe 27-28 range. Asama seems about the same as them. Setsuna is likely Hinoka's age. Hinata and Oboro would be Takumi's age, Tsubaki would be 20-21, while Kazahana would be 16-17. Tsukuyomi is probably Elise's age, and Rinka seems like she's 20-21. Orochi is old.

Pieri feels 18-19, while Belka is probably the same. Zero feels mid-twenties, 23-24 or so, while Harold seems in his late twenties or even early thirties and Elfie is probably 16-17. Not guessing on the Awakening kids.

A lot of Japanese fans from twitter put Takumi and Leon in the range of 15-16 years old, and Ryoma and Marx near 23, then they base the others around that ages, but I can't remember every one....

For me, based in the age of previous Fire Emblem characters (like Roy and Lyn being 15 in their games), the little knowledge I have of the game story and considering that they are actually very young... I think the royals are like this:

Ryoma & Marx - between 23-25

Camilla & Hinoka - between 20-22

Kamui - 18-21

Takumi & Leon - 16-17... Actually I see them as 16

Elise & Sakura - 14-15 ?

For other characters is more hard to say... But some ones:

Orochi - between 25-27 maybe???

Tsukuyomi - 14-15

Piery - between 17-19

Belka - around 16-18

Shinonome & Siegbert- between 15-16

Kisaragi & Foleo - between 10-12

I genuinely have a hard time believing that Marx is younger than me, he looks too old to be anything younger than late 20s to me. I could imagine Takumi and Leon being 16-18, but putting them at 16 pushes Sakura's maximum age to something that is too young for me to reasonably believe. Hinoka could reasonably be in the younger 20s, but I have a hard time seeing Camilla has being in her mid-twenties. 23-24, at the very least.

Or maybe I just have a hard time imagining such young protagonists because I'm old. I dunno, I just prefer higher age estimates.

There's no way I could age everyone else. I'd make everyone too young. It's so impossible for me to determine ages in this series based on looks, especially considering everyone is of age to marry (though, that's easy to get with considering the time period, but still). You'd think most units would be young adults, but with Leo and Takumi being younger than Kamui, too despite looking older (to me, as I always use the small body type, so it's probably just an issue for me, as canon Kamui has the default body) it's just too hard to even estimate~ XP

Considering how marriage works in this game they had damn well better not be 12 considering you can pair them with people and its not like awakening (Cordelia agrees to marry Ricken but only when he's older, this doesn't affect the kid since we will still be getter her thanks to time travel shenanigans.)
