Skinship is out, says kotaku (new info on page 71)

I agree with Fire Emblem Fan. The skinship thing was creepy and stupid as fuck to begin with.

These are basically my thoughts about it as well, and I find it kinda gross. I mean, okay, I understand if two people in a romantic relationship want to touch each other. But...touching/rubbing EVERYONE, including your (adopted) siblings...gross. Ewewewew.

Okay, assuming this is real (I'm not giving Kotaku clicks, so if I'm missing something after reading a summary, forgive me and correct me please), this is what should happen and I hope actually does happen if this is the case. The live2D models stay for the marriage confessions after S-support. In Private Quarters, you cannot just pet anyone you like. You can only pet your spouse and your own children. This way, skinship isn't completely removed, but reformed, since being able to rub anyone's face is considered creepy, but rubbing the face of your loved ones is acceptable behavior. I guess you can rub your buddy's face too.

However, I truly hope that none of this is real, and everything remains mostly unchanged. I don't like nor trust Kotaku for anything and never will.

Either way, all I want to honestly do is be able to interact with my waifu. Nothing more, nothing less. Give me that and I won't complain. I've always wanted more ways to interact with my spouses in Awakening. There was the possibility with the Scramble DLC maps, but only certain characters were chosen for avatar interaction, which was a huge bummer. If they remove skinship, the only known option for furthering your relationship with your spouse, they better have a damn good replacement.

They should do that exactly.

Mail this to NOA if this is real news from a more reliable source. Shit like this shouldn't belong in war. But...suggesting this so it doesn't upset some people as we want to keep the sales strong.

I'm rather indifferent with this news as well, regardless of if it's true or not. I don't like the feature to begin with but I do feel disappointed for those who genuinely wanted to experiment with this.

Personally, this feature isn't what makes Fire Emblem appealing and enjoyable to play so this doesn't really effect me.

Seeing all of the "you're just groping your waifu" stuff really makes me upset. Yes, there are indeed stereotypical otaku. I'm not one of them. All I want is a way to interact with same gendered characters in a way that isn't Zero. It's not creepy at all, and I don't see why people think that this moral victory over something "creepy" is at all justified. I can at least pretend I'm really bonding with people like Hinata and Tsubaki, and I don't understand how people could generalize as waifu petting at all.

But...thank god that is why we have pixiv, danbooru, gelbooru and rule34 for. =P

Just keep it out of the game, or done in a way to not make it creepy keeping the sales strong.

I think there's a slight difference between a slightly objectionable feature and a plethora if internet porn.

Personally, I thought it was a slightly weird feature, and I can't say I'll miss it. Still, I'm not the one buy the game, so my condolences to those who actually valued it!

I think you're the first person to make a note that this affects the male characters just as much as the 'waifu' crowd... but good luck getting anyone to actually take that into consideration.

You do realize this is completely different from porn, right? It's a bonding thing over in Japan, which, in case you've forgotten, is where the game was made.

I think IS poured too much money on a silly feature, honestly. However, should Kotaku, given their "reliable" and "trustworthy" reputation (:P), be right, I'd be a tad disappointed. I wouldn't use the skinship feature, since it's an incredibly awkward concept to begin with, but I don't approve of removing a game's content.

Honestly, I think NOA might have removed the stylus rubbing feature for the My Room stuff. You can still, probably, invite your pals to your room and have some sort of "chatting" mini game, perhaps?

I find it kind of weird that people are complaining about the fact that with it all the things gamplay-wise it affects are lost as well.

Yet when I and others complained a long time ago about it, people said "oh it's optional and barely affects anything".

Which one is it? Does it or does it not affect the gameplay in a somewhat notable way?

I think the other members are upset over the possibility of removing a portion of a game's content regardless of what they thought about it.

The My Room feature helps increase support points, I think.

It doesn't affect anything. People are for some reason salty over the possible/highly unlikely removal of something that this same fanbase was salty about it's inclusion in the first place.

This literally affects nothing for me. I'm sorry to those who wanted it if this is legit, I highly doubt it, but it's not like it's removal actually affects anything. Combined with the fact that if it WAS removed, that My Room photo from earier shows that there is an alternative. People should stop getting salty about a "report" from a site with a questionable reputation that's likely taken part in a grand clickbait scheme.

To add to this, the problem with removing the feature is that you lose on some background details on characters. For example, someone on GAF pointed out that one character mentions his/her parents were killed by bandits in a skinship dialogue. By cutting out the feature completely, we lose on actual content involving characters' stories.

I honestly don't mind if the feature is cut out, but we NEED a replacement. If not, this is just pure, lazy censorship to satisfy the whiny SJWs.

When I first heard about this feature, I was confused, but I accepted it after a while. Now hearing that it's out, I must say that while it is unfortunate that we are losing any sort of feature, but I can't say I'm sad it's this one. It just dissapoints me to see Fire Emblem being associated with the "waifu" aspect of the game. Dont get me wrong, I played Awakening a lot and I probably wont mind it in Fates, but when half of the articles you see online about the game are about this one aspect that is really just a minor feature, it dissapoints me that FE has lost it's old reputation as a "challenging but rewarding RPG" in favor of "Waifu Simulator". It was OK for a game or two, but I'd like to see a gradual renewal of more classic FE aspects. The skinshipping honestly just seems like it doesnt belong in Fire Emblem. Not hating on the feature or anything, but it really just is out of place here. There are plenty of other games for things like that.

I really hope this is true, I'd rather not feel my 13 year old sister up for completionist reasons.

What exactly do you mean by this?

It's what people say whenever something controversial gets taken out regardless of what it is.

Well I'm glad I imported it. But seriously though, I would have preferred if it was replaced with giving them gifts or something Harvest Moon esque. They could just up the amount of food and ore you recieve daily for that. But then I guess it'd be weird if you gave someone a peach and they said something dirty to you.

I would be pretty Disapointed if it got removed...

I mean, come on! What is so inappropriate about touching someone? Especially since the places to touch aren't that private or something?

It would be more understandable if they censored some of the Dialogues in the Skinship (I wouldn't be happy about that either but it's better than removing the Skinship entirely)

So i can really hope it's all just gossip that aren't true and they keep the Skinship...and give me the release date for Europe already! >:3

While many people here, including myself, found the poking and prodding of non-spouse characters a bit off-putting, if this rumor, and until NOA confirms it this is a rumor, turns out to be true, I will be disappointed. Mainly because the live2d assets likely take up a fair chunk of memory and without skinship, then all those assets are good for is for the five-second confessions, and that seems like a waste. If Treehouse has removed skinship, I wonder if NOA has other features planed to replace it. Completely stripping a feature that had been advertised (at least in Japan) and not replacing it with anything for western audiences is a bit asinine.

If it has been removed, then I am saddened because I was really looking forward to hearing the voice actors squirm in the sound booth. Especially if they were going with something similar to the direct translation of certain skinship lines...

I mean I would also like this but skinship to me feels like you're degrading the characters, not bonding with them. It would be nice if they replaced it with a different mini game that feels more like actual bonding with comrades and not Kamui treating them like pets.

Well damn I will say I am dissapinted in that the face rubbing is/if gone but I hope Nindendo add something else for them removing it if we go into my room and just be able to look at the room and than leave I will call BS on what they did. I get that Americans(American my self just a perv) are prudes when it comes to sex but come on it really not that bad, but what can you do. If they censor this I wounder if Camilla fanservice sceen will have her wear skintight cothes it will still be hot but at least she'll be modest for all the ladies and jets who penties and underwear are in a bunch over fanservice, and it'll still be in Camilla character to show off her body. But my room should a function were you can have conversation with the character like the answer you choice neither help or demage your relationship with that character, I know visual novel routes but better than nothing.
