Poll Favorite/Least Favorite 2nd Gen Character

So I take it I'm the only one that likes the 2nd gen in Awakening or are you looking at Rhajat/Caeldori/Asugi? Because I don't like Gaius.

Yes the three, i really hate tharja In awakening, Gaius was passable and i adore Cordelia, but In this game are to weak, well that happen when you include to much fanservice and dont use the imagination to create new unique characters like In awakening almost all childrens have a unique personality and story.I hope In a future fire emblem game dont make the same mistake as here.

Only character I really can't stand from the second gens is Soliel. Her gag is just incredibly annoying in both versions of the game. Otherwise I don't mind any of them, can't really choose a favorite though.

Hopefully, they will remove children from FE completely and get rid of dumb doodoo like the DeepBolic HyperRealm. Or, at least, have a logical reason for their inclusion.

Hopefully, they will create new characters for the next game and stop banking on nostalgia and fan-favorites to carry their cast of characters.

Hopefully, they will actually focus on creating a compelling story line that does not have plot holes, ass pulls and character inconsistency simply for the sake of having room to introduce a third path that ruins the entire theme and premise of the original two games.

Honestly i don't like alot of the kids that come off as like 8.

If we get a next game i really want to see a "kid" character or 3 or 8 where the schtick is that they fucked up the time travel/time chamber and came out older than the other kids.

Bonus points if its the first gen obnoxious little sister lol and the daugher comes out older than them, could make for interesting supports too

Forrest and Shiro are my tops. Basically for all the reasons stated. Ophelia is a close third to those guys.

The worst is Percy. He just seems like a joke character that's not funny.

Least favorite is Soleil. That's pretty much a given considering her personality/gag and I think everyone else here has put out why I hate her eloquently enough. But my god, why does she have to have such a pretty design?!

But other than that, I actually like a lot of the children? Siegbert, Sophie, Shiro, Forrest, and Shigure are definitely my favorites though. Siegbert and Sophie have this odd thing for me as the former is someone I can really identify with as I struggle with feelings of inadequacy and awkwardness too in comparison to my relatives, and the latter is just a shining ball of optimism despite all her mistakes and is someone I feel that I can't help but admire. Shiro is a character that is wonderfully laid back and entertaining that doesn't rely on any gags, and Forrest is a perfect example of a character that covers a serious issue and isn't played for laughs. He likes what he likes, and he's not ashamed of it. He gives Leo wonderful development too. And Shigure is just absolutely fabulous and I swear he's a Disney princess in disguise at times. He's extremely talented in the arts and is a very caring person overall.

But I'm going to have to give the vote to Shigure, mostly cause he seems to have a little less love than the others. And because he's making me ditch my no-marrying children policy but let's ignore that...

This might be shocking, but my favorite is Soleil.

I agree that her support with Ophelia is really unacceptable, (I also find her support with Nina bad and really dumb, personally.) but I just really love bi characters, and her design is really cute. Plus I married Laslow, so I'm not gonna lie, there's a lot of bias. I think she got pretty shit supports from the ones that I've read, especially with her harassment, but everything else about her I like.

Honorable mentions go to Sophie and Kana

As for least favorite, of the ones I've gotten, my least favorite is either Rhajat because she doesn't even compare to Tharja, or Midori because she just feels like yet another cutesy character and is not that interesting to me.

Nina and Dwyer rank pretty highly in my eyes. Nina's gimmick makes me laugh and Dwyer is secretly all of us on Monday.

As for least favorite, Asugi holds that crown. Don't get me wrong, I liked Gaius a lot in Awakening. Heck, I even married him to my FeMU. But Asugi's voice (even though it's the same VA lol) I cannot stand, and the candy gimmick is somehow even more overplayed than it was in Awakening.

Between Forrest, Kiragi, Ophelia, Shigure, Siegbert, Shiro, and Mitama I don't know who to vote as my favorite. I'll just pick. Nina, Midori, Ignatius, Sophie, Percy, and Selkie, and Velouria are runner ups. Even though I hate the babyrealm I actually like some of these kids. When it comes to my least favorites Asugi, Soleil, Caeldori, and Rhajat are at the bottom. Asugi is a more gimmicky version of Gaius, Soleil for reasons I already mentioned, Caeldori for being boring as heck, and Rhajat for being Tharja 2.0 (she's not abusive, but she stalks Corrin and it's mentioned even in a good amount of her dlc conversations. I don't dislike Nina, but some of her supports irk me especially her gimmicky supports and her support with Dwyer.

Speaking from a JP if player perspective I haven't really found any characters I didn't really like. Kinu may be one-note but I don't dislike that gimmick and she's cute either way. Midoriko is pure HNNGG (voted best) and Kana (F) although I like a lot less than Morgan/Mark (F) is different enough that she's not stuck under Morgan's shadow and is adorable in her own way. To be fair I never was able to get Soleil and Ignatius before beating Conquest so I might change my opinion, but as a person of overall moderate opinions I don't hate any of the playable characters in If/Fates, not even Corrin.

I see a lot of people choosing Ophelia; may I ask why? I like Owain, but she feels like a cheap imitation without her father's more serious moments, which were done very well in both Awakening and Fates. Maybe I've missed a good support.

No?? At least not on my account. Ophelia is adorable and i find her to be very similar to Luna Lovegood (only more extroverted). She literally believes in her father and in legends she hears, so she goes chasing them. Her paralogue is about finding the Ultimate Tome which she thought existed due to her father scribbling something in his notes. Shes a fun loving, yet gullible dream chaser. Plus her Ophelia Dusk thing charms me.

Not to mention, if she has a mum with blue hair, she looks nigh identical to a very good irl friend of mine. My heart melted at that alone. Compounded with her personality which i enjoy. Shes my favorite of the kids.

Im also warming up to Rhajat because im seeing some of her supports. If they hadnt played up her Corn obsession so goddamn aggressively, she would have been rather amazing. Shes just a really socially awkward goth girl who never really had friends, and until the events of the game, didnt realize she needed/wanted them. Shes very lonely.

The others i like are Forrest, Selkie, and Velouria.

The least favorite or Shitchild as i call her, is Caeldori. Thanks a pantload, IS, for taking the most aggravating elements from Cordelia (outside her Chrom obsession) and sprinkling a little bit of Severa in there to make this creature of darkness. Thanks a fucken lot.

Asugi can go fuck off too. Ugh.

The only kid i havent met yet, is Hisame. Never bothered using Hinata. :o

I liked Gaius but he always seemed like he was one negative character trait from me hating him. Asugi confirmed my suspicions. We're supposed to sympathize with him with regards to Saizo's harshness but Asugi is such an airheaded brat that I just want Saizo to spank him or something.

Caeldori is also insufferable. It makes some sense since Subaki can be kind of a dick at times, but other characters react to him appropriately when he's having a douchey moment. Not with Caeldori. Everyone seems to just let her be awful. Her interactions with Selena are nice, but they're good on Selena's part. Caeldori has no input on the quality of those moments.

Rhajat is actually fine for the reasons Loki mentioned. She just seems much more vulnerable than Tharja is and that takes a lot of the unpleasantness away from her character. The Hayato/Rhajat parent/child relationship is also one of my favorites.

Selkie and Kana just don't stick out or appeal to me in anyway. Selkie is very one note and Kana's only trait is being a cinnamon roll in a cast saturated with cinnamon rolls.

Soleil is a dead horse at this point.

As for the kids I like...

Azama might be a terrible husband and person, but goddamn do I like him as a dad.

"Well, this will sound funny coming from me, but... I want my daughter to excel in life. I want her to dazzle everyone around her."

That is just so uncharacteristic of nihilistic old Azama. I like seeing Azama becoming a better person for his family. Mitama is nice as a character with a cool design and gimmick, but this relationship makes me appreciate her more.

I can see why most people like Shiro. He's just a well rounded character who manages to be funny without a gimmick. With all the weirdo girls in the second gen, we need a good man to bring them back down to earth.

Also worth noting that unlike other normal guys with quirky girlfriends, Shiro is not a generic fuckboy doormat (Looking at you male Corrin).

I kinda like Soleil if i dont pair her. (And keep her away from Ophelia. The C and the B supports there made me yell. Loudly.) I also had this really amazing Soleil that was the result of a Laz/Peri that was a wee bit OP, and she mopped the floor with things.

I need to mention that i really have the biggest soft spot in the world for Sophie. Shes just so sweet and adorable, and in my last BR run, a fucking steamroller. Azura was her mum, but she still managed to rock some shit as a Great Knight. And shes so tolerant of people like Caeldori being all "i know better than everyone about things." and stuff. She kinda reminds me of Cynthia from Awakening only not AS hyperactive. I loved Cynthia.

Voted Shiro for favorite for being a cool dude with great supports with almost everyone. The only support of his I didn't like was his Ophelia support and my dislike for that support is all because of her.

Runner ups are Asugi and Mitama. I guess I'm in the minority here but I actually liked Asugi more than Gaius because of how great both his parent supports are and his insecurity about inheriting the Saizo name.

Mitama is a great example of a gimmick character and it's always cool to see what Haikus she comes up with.

Soleil and Ophelia are tied for my least favorite. To me they're all the worst parts of Odin and Laslow without any of the good.

My favorite is Forrest. He is a pretty swell guy.

Least favorite is Nina... and the reason may be quite unfair to her. But the reason I dislike her is because I know someone in real life who is a yaoi fangirl. So much of a fangirl to the point where she literally wrote fanfiction about me and one of my friends because we both had interest in guys.. despite the fact that she was a yaoi fangirl, she is quite homophobic. She thinks that gays deserve to go to hell, yet wants to see guys make out because it would be entertaining for her. And that is just a few reasons why I dont like her (the girl I know irl), she is a bitch. So being that I see that Nina is a yaoi fangirl, I immediately think of that girls I know in real life, so that connection immediately makes me despise Nina.

I have a friend who is just like that, except the homophobia part. She showed one of my karate senseis her pornographic yaoi manga and even (unknowingly) caused a girl to switch a class because she couldn't stand how my friend was always obsessing over yaoi and even showing the teacher her yaoi manga. She's also written fanfics involving her friends (with their consent though). And she's a VERY open person. She'll talk to anyone about anything, especially yaoi. I happen to be a yaoi fan myself and I find her behavior ridiculous. Deep down, she is a nice person though. I can see why that would make you dislike Nina. At least she has another side to her. For one, I like how she has a normal reaction for being sent into the Deeprealm and not seeing her parents. Abandonment issues, you know? Most of the other children are just like "Daddy! I'm so happy to see you, even though we haven't seen each other in like 15 years or so!" That's not really how one would react when they've been thrown into a Deeprealm and not get to see their parents.

Nina and Shiro, it may be a bit of a bias that I choose Nina as my favorite due to her being my daughter in my serious Conquest and Revelation runs but I just find her supports funny, I really don't take supports to heart even if they are "rude" or whatever but I do like how she is one of the few children to actually rebel in her paralogue about being stuck in a instant baby growing realm, that and she has a great design. And Shiro is because he is just a swell guy.

Honorable Mentions are Forrest, Siegbert and Kisaragi.

Least favorite? Oh my will I receive some awful responds but I chose Ophelia, why her? Because she is basically Odin with boobs, I feel that people have overhyped her and they literally mention her everywhere, I would've liked her having maybe some difference from her father but she is just a female Owain.

Un-honorable mention? Soleil, I really like her design and she seemed like a interesting character but then people went so wack with anything related to her though I still use her in my child run because I like to have Selena as her mother and her C-A supports with Ignatius were nice.

I personally love Siegbert because of all the hilarious drawings people make about him on twitter since I find the way he tries so hard to be pretty endearing. Other favorites are Kiragi, Sophie, Mitama, Shiro, Forrest and Shigure.

On the other hand I found the Awakening look-alikes to be pretty uninteresting (minus Rhajat, liked in most of her supports). Not that I don't care about them, since I'm pretty lax and like most characters with ease but they are kind of low in my list. I was specially curious about Caeldori before the game came out because Cordelia is one of my favorite units in Awakening and a character dear to me but her expy didn't spark my interest this time around.

Absolutely despise Siegbert, his design is just horrible, I mean a MULLET!? His voice also does not fit for someone who is incredibly serious all the time, he sounds like a prepubescent boy. Also his supports are just bland and boring, duty this, prince-stuff that, what a one-dimensional character.

Favorite is MKana, Shiro and Forrest.

MKana for light-hearted fluff for you to grin like an idiot at the diabete inducing supports.

Shiro for a laid back guy trying to improve himself to be a proper king one day.
