Odin marries Elise, making Ophelia half-Ylissan and half-Nohrian royalty, and Azura marries Ryoma, making Shiro half-Valla and half-Hoshidan royalty, and then Ophelia and Shiro get married, and unite all the countries. All of them.

[spoiler=Spoilers for the 100% cannon, true route]Saizo marries everyone and takes over the world. #PraiseSaizo

[spoiler=The First Dragons: where did they come from, and where did they go?]

-No one is sure how or when the First Dragons came to the continent. Some scholars believe that they came through the Dragon's Gate, while others believe that they predated humanity.

-While initially living together in an uneasy peace, war would eventually break out between the twelve strongest dragons for dominance. They spilt into two main factions, led by the Dawn Dragon and the Dusk Dragon (henceforth referred to as 'Dawn' and 'Dusk'). Most dragons joined these factions, while others, like Anankos, would remain neutral. Amongst others, the Wind and Flame Dragons joined the Dawn Dragon while the Ice Dragon joined the Dusk Dragon.

-At this time, most humans lived in small tribes. Kitsune and Wolfskin also existed, but in smaller numbers. Due to the comparatively small number of dragons, Dawn and Dusk decided to enlist the help of these humans in their conflict with each other. They each bestowed their blood upon a family of humans, giving them power in exchange for loyalty. They also encouraged their bloodbonded allies/minions/pawns to gather followers from nearby tribes with their new powers. These families are the progenitors of the Hoshidan and Nohrian royal families, and they and their followers would later establish the kingdoms of Hoshido and Nohr.

-Following the example of their leaders, the Ice, Wind, and Flame Dragons would also each bestow their blood upon a group of humans. While these groups lacked the ability to use Dragon Veins, they did gain elemental powers.

-Wanting to make their minions stronger, Dusk and Dawn each asked the Rainbow Sage, who remained neutral, to create two weapons for their humans. He obliged, creating the Raijinto and Fujin Yumi for the Hoshidan progenitors, and for the Nohrian progenitors Siegfried and Brynhildr. He made it so the weapons required a worthy wielder and the respective dragon's blood to function.

-Amongst the neutral dragons was the dragon of harmony, who opposed the war entirely and gathered a group of humans, giving the leaders its blood, to help preach peace. As mentioned previously, these people would found Izumo.

-Also among the neutral dragons was the Requiem Dragon, whom is currently seen by both Hoshido and Nohr as a goddess of death (whether or not she actually had domain over death is unclear). She didn't give her blood to any humans, and is said to have lurked in what is currently known as the Woods of the Forlorn.

-Anankos always opposed the conflict and especially dragging humans into it. Dawn and Dusk both wanted him on their side for his power and wisdom, but he refused to join either side. In order to help humanity overthrow their dragon masters, Anankos requested that the Rainbow Sage create the Yato so that humans would be able to kill the dragons if necessary. Anankos also hoped that humans from both sides would unite to forge their own fate, so the Yato requires the four other divine weapons to reach its full power.

-In order to cripple the fighting force of both factions, Anankos used his Dragon Vein powers to create the Bottomless Canyon to separate the warring humans. This marked him as an enemy to most of the other dragons, so Anankos, fearing for their safety, created a portal to another dimension within the Bottomless Canyon and sent his humans through it. He created this dimension by forcibly merging several Deeprealms, consequently resulting in unusual geography such as floating islands. This land would be named Valla by its new inhabitants, and Anankos would take the Yato with him to Valla so no other dragon could get their claws on it. He would only bestow his blood upon Cadros after he predicted his decent into insanity and Valla was founded.

-Irritated that their main fighting forces were crippled by Anankos, Dusk and Dawn eventually met in battle personally and ended up killing each other. The deaths of the two main dragons resulted in the war's end.

-No longer under the command of the First Dragons, the humans would settle down under the leadership of the bloodbonded humans, resulting in the formation of Nohr and Hoshido. Separated by Bottomless Canyon, the two kingdoms would develop very different cultures. Most other countries would form sometime later.

-Over the next few hundred years, the remaining dragons realized that they were slowly going insane due to their power. To avoid this fate they cast off their bodies and became spirits, with the exception of the human-loving Anankos and the Rainbow Sage.

-Anankos's dragon form resembled Corrin's before his corruption.

-After the war, the Rainbow Sage went into hiding to wait for the day when he could make up for his sin. Many people sought him for guidance, though most didn't receive it. These people would settle down and form Notre Sagesse.

[spoiler=Even more invisible things]

-Anyone who was unlucky enough to stumble into the Bottomless Canyon was strongly discouraged from leaving Valla. If they really wanted to leave they had their memories of Valla erased, but most people chose to stay and settle down in the invisible kingdom.

-Arete and Mikoto are actually half-sisters, with the same father (from whom they get their dragon blood) but different mothers. Arete is the daughter of the king and his (Vallite) queen, while Mikoto is the result of an affair between the king and a Hoshidan 'immigrant'. Mikoto was unaware of this fact until Arete found her and told her the truth, and this knowledge would be given to the rest of the kingdom sometime later. Mikoto would be allowed to live in the castle with her father and sister, and was officially recognized as a princess, following her mother's death. When they were younger, Arete, who was always fond of her sister, would frequently sneak out of the castle to play with Mikoto, and she is rather overprotective of her younger sister.

-Arete's first husband and Azura's father was named Pelagios, and as mentioned previously he was a priest of Anankos. He had deep black hair and minty green eyes, and was quite social and good with words (though naturally this didn't help him with Anankos...), so Arete had him handle relations with the citizenry of Valla and the Silent Dragon while she did the actual ruling. Arete herself was stoic and socially withdrawn, much like her daughter, though this didn't stop Pelagios from falling in love with her when they were young. He often tried increasingly drastic measures to win her heart and while they eventually married, the Vallite citizens couldn't decide if Arete married him for convenience or if she eventually returned his affections.

-Anankos kept the Yato with him in Valla so someone could defeat him in the event that he went insane. After the birth of his child and regaining his memories, Human!Anankos/Hydros went out and managed to find it. Suspecting that Corrin might one day be able to use it, he gave the sword to Mikoto and told her to bring it with her to Hoshido. She did so, and Sumeragi helped her hide it until the day that Corrin would be able to use it.

-Arete and Azura were going to Hoshido with Mikoto and Corrin, but complications in the teleportation process resulted in them ending up in Nohr instead. Arete decided to stay due to gaining an appreciation for Nohr's people, and because fleeing to Hoshido would leave them vulnerable to Anankos's minions.

-While Odin, Laslow, and Selena were being sent to Nohr, Dragon!Anankos managed to seal away their memories of him and Valla. Thus, they remember that they have to help Corrin do something but not exactly what.

-Garon serves as Anankos's familiar, and they have a relationship that is different from Anankos's other minions. This relationship is achieved by Anankos splitting off a portion of his soul and having it merge with Garon (Arete's attempts to stop this merge resulted in her death). Besides warping his appearance due to extended corruption, this connection allows Garon to telepathically communicate with Anankos and tap into his power, though Anankos cannot reclaim the power that Garon gains easily. He can, however, teleport Garon directly to him. This merge also results in Garon being brainwashed into serving Anankos's will, though he does not know that he is actually brainwashed until moments before his death in Birthright. Anankos would later try something similar to Takumi and Gunter.

-Extended exposure to Anankos's influence results in one's hair turning white and eyes turning red (see Garon and Takumi). Corrin also possesses these traits (though their hair is more platinum blond...) due to being Anankos's offspring, while Lilith doesn't due to her unnatural birth.

-After Anankos gave a portion of his power to Garon, Hydros managed to take advantage and seal the weakened Anankos within Castle Gyges, though this took a large portion of his own power. At this time, Anankos created Lilith to act on his behalf.

-After being sealed away, Anankos's remaining power was condensed into a 'core' that is held in the mouth of his dragon body. He began to wear a mask of his human form to protect this core. Anankos is only able to reenter his human form from his dragon form after being unsealed for some time. This also causes his 'good' personality to manifest in a twisted way.

[spoiler=Even more miscellaneous (but also invisible) things]

-Saizo IV and Hana's father were Sumeragi's retainers. Consorts of the current ruler do not have retainers, so Ikona did not have any, though she did have Mikoto has a handmaiden (much to Ikona's dismay). Haitaka was a subordinate of Ikona's family and thus shares most of their racist views.

-Sumeragi brought Ryoma and Corrin with him to his meeting with Garon in order to demonstrate how negotiations between kingdoms operate. Likewise, Saizo IV brought Kaze with him to demonstrate his duties as a ninja. Saizo V did not go as he was undergoing training at the time.

-Shortly after Corrin's kidnapping, Garon told Xander of Corrin's Hoshidan origins so that the truth would not die with him if anything happened to Garon. Camilla, Leo, and Elise assumed that Corrin was the child of one of Garon's concubines until Garon told them the truth shortly after Corrin returned to Hoshido. Leo and Camilla might have realized that Corrin wasn't their true sibling earlier, however.

-Garon's original plan was for Ganglari to bring Corrin to Valla so Anankos could deposit him in Hoshido. Though Lilith managed to save Corrin instead, Garon's plan was still largely successful.

-Ganglari also served as a beacon for Anankos's forces. Without it, Anankos would be unable to send his forces into Hoshido due to Mikoto's barrier.

-Mikoto's plan following Corrin's return was to unite Nohr and Hoshido against Anankos, hopefully with the fully powered Yato on their side. Due to Garon's possession this probably would't have worked.

-Corrin wears the dragonstone that Azura gave them on a necklace.

-Outside of the 'main' royal line (generally carried by the oldest child, currently Ryoma and Xander), the ability to use Dragon Veins endures for a few more generations before disappearing. That is, the descendants of Camilla, Hinoka, Leo, Takumi, Elise, and Sakura will eventually lose the ability.

-It is customary for Hoshidan royals (Ryoma, Hinoka, Sakura, Azura) to learn how to ride pegasi and Nohrian royals (Xander, Camilla, Elise) to learn how to ride wyverns for moving over long distances. Leo and Takumi are weird exceptions, though Takumi can promote to a Kinshi rider.

-Contrary to what some people might believe, Hinoka doesn't mind being flat chested (they'd probably get in the way during training anyway). She will, however, be annoyed if other girls (usually Camilla) go out of their way to flaunt their 'assets'.

-People in the hot spring are allowed to wear swimsuits or go naked, but for the sake of the game's rating everyone in-game wears swimsuits. Or maybe it's because of Corrin's odd habit of entering the hot spring at the wrong time...

-In addition to sharing similar backgrounds and interests, Corrin and Azura also bond over their mutual distaste for footwear. Some members of the army believe that they both have foot fetishes, but studies on the matter have proven inconclusive.

If I do write any fanfics, at least I won't lack any background material...

I have a few headcanons that I don't are that common (like Corrin's birth name is Kamui, but was renamed to Corrin when he went to Nohr) so I will just put them here.

[spoiler=Here they are.]

1. Saizo and Kagero used to be married, not just in a relationship, but then got divorced after realizing they needed to focus their attention on protecting Ryoma and that the chemistry they once had had faded away.

2. Jakob and Flora marry, but Dwyer isn't born until after the events of Fates.

3. Kaze sacrifices himself to save Corrin if they achieve Support A, but tries to save himself with Corrin by blowing up the crystal if they have Support C, B, or S together due to being more desperate to stay alive since he is either A. Not Corrin's retainer (or at least declared) or B. Not married to Corrin. If he is only Corrin's retainer, he sacrifices himself without a thought to both say 'thank you' for Corrin rescuing him and 'sorry' for letting Corrin be captured.

4. Midori is never born during the events of Birthright.

5. Mozu never joins Corrin's Army in the events of Conquest due to her village being in Hoshido and Corrin being in Nohr when her village is attacked, and she ends up dying with her mother since the Hoshido army wasn't close enough to save the village.

6. Inigo marries Cynthia, but she dies before the events of 'Hidden Truths', which makes Inigo more encouraged to help Anankos. He marries in the events of Fates due to wanting to keep Cynthia's promise she asked of him before she died to find someone else that loves him just as much as she does. Owain and Severa do not marry until Fates, however.

I could totally see this as Fate and Awakening canon as a way to keep Grima is check should Chrom make the killing blow. Further tying the two worlds and stories, since it is likely, even on a smaller level, that Fate's would have turned out differently if the veteran's from Awakening's past didn't help save both worlds.

I love everyone in this thread. Especially the HC's about Izana.

My HC's are that none of the children are born during the war and the Deep Realms do not exist. All the children are born postgame and age like they normally would. The war some of them talk about in their supports is because even though the war is over, there are still groups of people and some kingdoms that aren't too happy about this. So even if there is "peace", there are still some places that needs cleaning up.

I also HC that the Awakening Trio came to Nohr to look for ways to bring Robin back.

All siblings have 'legendary weapons'. Camilla wields Eckewart (Bolt Axe), and later inherits Garon's axe, Bölverk. Elise wields Kriemhildr (Moonlight, and Brynhildr's sister tome). Hinoka wields Susanoo (Brave Lance) and Sakura wields Amaterasu (Shining Bow).

Niles is gay for Leo. Leo is in denial, which is why he reacts so harshly to Foleo's appearance. They both end up having children with other women, Leo pretending to be straight, Niles in spite of Leo.

Orochi is a quack, and her fortunes are vague enough for them to come true, so people believe in her.

Beruka is asexual/aromantic. Charlotte is actually bipolar. Rhajat's personal skill is Shadowgift. Laslow is the best rallybot

In my Conquest playthrough, Mozu accidentally killed the final boss... So, my HC is that she became Queen of Nohr, since Xander was too ashamed of being less useful that a peasant to rule the kingdom. Camilla didn't want to be queen, Kamui is an Hoshidian Scum, Leo put his crown upside down the day of his crowning and thus joined Xander to share their shame, and Elise left the castle to gather a harem of "Oniis-chan".

So Mozu, savior of Nohr, became the legitimate queen of the kingdom, enhancing the agriculture of the starving country thanks to her vast farming knowledge. Eons later, she was still known as the Queen of Potatoes, farmers around the world praying for her blessings.

Sakura and Elise act as the official babysitters for the kids in the Deeprealms. Sakura always felt sorry for Asugi as Saizo was so hard on him so she would share her sweets with him, not knowing that she was creating a monster. Elise inspired Forrest's love of fashion.

Even if she isn't his mother, Oboro is still very close to Kiragi (no, not like that) and dotes on him. He calls her "Auntie Oboro", which she doesn't really appreciate.

Ryoma and Xander become friendly rivals and always try to outdo each other. This eventually leads to Xander becoming the Great Nohrian Grill Dad

Leo made his Iceblade with the assistance of Flora.

After defeating Ananakos, Xander and Ryoma had to first go through their coronations before officially ending the war between Hoshido and Nohr, even though hostilities ceased as son as the army left Valla.

When she gets older, Elise will be as tall and as buxom as Camilla.

Following the end of the war, refugees from Old Valla immigrate to new Valla, bringing with them Vallite lore and culture, so that Valla can truly live again as more than just a name.

  • 3 weeks later...

[spoiler=Even even more (partially invisible) stuff]

-There was a major conflict between Hoshido and Nohr about a century ago, which is depicted in the opening.

-Despite its isolationist tendencies, the Flame Tribe is on somewhat friendlier terms with Hoshido than Nohr, namely due to the latter's attempts to conquer it. While it doesn't send actual military aid to Hoshido, the chieftain did sent Rinkah to support them in order to help her improve her strength growth prove herself. Rinkah's first action after this alliance was to charge (Leeroy Jenkins style) at the closest Nohrian town. Kaze, who was on a recon mission in the town at the time, attempted to bail her out, but they both ended up being captured.

-Like her child, Mikoto would frequently go barefoot before she became queen of Hoshido. Unlike Corrin and Azura, though, this is a result of her forgetting to wear shoes rather than her making a conscious fashion statement.

-Mikoto originally travelled to Hoshido (without Arete's knowledge) because she was curious about her mother's homeland. She was about to leave when she met Sumeragi.

-After Arete married, most her suitors would begin to pursue Mikoto instead. Protective big sister that she is, Arete would usually scare them away. Mikoto didn't mind because she trusted Arete's judgment and she wanted to find love on her own.

-Mikoto would also help train Takumi in archery, which is one of the reasons why he was particularly close to her.

-Arete taught Azura how to cook, and she in turn taught Shigure how to cook. Corrin inherited their lack of cooking abilities from Mikoto.

-Azura has a small scar on her forehead that's hidden by her bangs.

-Izana and Fuga are friends. After the former faked his death in Revelation, he asked Fuga to help Corrin on his behalf.

-After Corrin and co. went to Valla in Revelation, Nohr and Hoshido were locked in a stalemate because most major players on both sides were either in Valla or dead.

-The Ice Tribe's culture is inspired by Scandinavia. As a side effect of their ice powers, the cold never bothered them anyway. Consequently, they don't bother bathing with hot water and hypothermia is an issue among travelers.

-The majority of members of the Ice, Flame, and Wind Tribes can manipulate their respective elements granted to them by the First Dragons. Hayato hasn't mastered his wind powers yet (not that he'll admit it).

-Cheve's culture is inspired by France while Nestra's culture is inspired by Italy.

-The Solar System in the Fates universe is the same as ours, but due to differing mythologies the planets (expect Earth, which is referred to as such because it wasn't named after a deity) are all named after the First Dragons rather than Roman deities. The Dawn Dragon, Dusk Dragon, and Anankos don't have planets named after them because they're important enough as is (and Anankos is largely obscure outside of Valla). For some weird reason, these planets are also visible from Valla.

-Hoshido's signature colors are red and white and its flower is the cherry blossom. Nohr's signature colors are black and purple and its flower is the rose (usually a black one). Finally, Valla's signature colors are blue and gray and its flower is the water lily.

-Layla was born in Cyrkensia, but one of her parents is a refugee from Valla; she is half-Nestrian and half-Vallite.

-Shortly after they returned to Hoshido, Corrin was given a ring by Mikoto. They give it to whoever they marry. The ring is a family heirloom and a treasure of Valla's royalty, though of course Corrin did not know this when they received it. The ring is made of platinum and is decorated with blue patterns and Valla's crest.

In the paralogue of Kanna Takumi was the partner unit of Corrin who fought the bandit twins. As one of the twins gushed about how cute Dragon Kana was and how they wanted him as a pet Takumi's random battle quite at the time was ''Not again''.

This made me believe that Dragon Corrin also got some creepy suitors of her own.

Conquest is the canonical version of Fates... sort of. However, the events as depicted in Conquest are revisionist history by Nohr apologists to try to justify Corrin's actions. In reality, Corrin went along with Garon's conquest and he helped his brother Xander stage a coup afterwords. Also, everything about Valla doesn't exist. It's all a conspiracy theory popular in the wierded corners of the FE internet. So is Garon being controlled by goo. Finally, Birthright is an Alternate History story.

Corrin wanting to claim ultimate power would explain a lot. But I think that it's simply a matter of him having the same kind of supernatural charm that fellow dragon descendant Julius was implied to have. Said charm compelled people to worship him. Because Corrin has the same ability, people have a very hard time to consider anything that he does to be wrong and calling him out or holding him in contempt is almost impossible.

This is also why Ryoma took so long to enter the battle himself. Corrin's enchantment made it hard for Ryoma to consider him an enemy so he didn't think that he could do his job properly. So instead he mediated in order to get his emotions under control. That didn't work out all that well, so when he learned from Iago that Corrin killed Hinoka, he used that opportunity to submit to anger in an attempt to strike down Corrin in a blind rage. After he was defeated he could no longer maintain his temper, so he ended up being enthralled once more.

Since Corrin is apparently a crap tactician, he somehow obtains the Robin amiibo and hopes to get advice from it (akin to how Twitch Red consults the Helix Fossil or how Spongebob consults the Magic Conch Shell). Needless to say, the Robin amiibo became a crutch and hardly did its "job" for Corrin in the end.

My personal headcanon is that Kamui has the same abilities as Mr. House from Fallout: New Vegas, namely luck that borders on supernatural and allows her to predict and manipulate probabilities in her favor, regardless of her actual luck stat, which in turn is why she can "see" stats and Support Rankings and the such. She is completely unaware of this power.

Perhaps this "future sight" takes the form of us as players seeing the "to-hit" and "damage" variables?

Also, some more stuff from me. References to "Europans" and "Twin Europas" are relevant to my own writings, so disregard them if you wish. Regardless, brace yourself for a wall of text!

Nations and Landmarks on the Ivron Continent

Common Mythology-

· Basics

o In the creation myth of the world common to both Nohr and Hoshido, the Astral Dragons initially ruled over creation with a clearly established hierarchy, humans were the thralls of the dragons, though they were unaware of it, praising the dragons as gods. Over time, some of their number believed they should rule as opposed to those in charge and rebelled, becoming the Dark Dragons. They were led by the former 2nd in command of the Astral Dragons, Anankos. In order to gain dominance over the Astral Dragons, they use a corrupted form of the creation magic (which later morphed into dark magic) to combat the Astral Dragons. Determined to gain a numerical advantage, the Dark Dragons freed humanity from thralldom for use against the Astral Dragons. They did this by informing the humans that they were slaves and by fighting against the Astral Dragons, they would guarantee their freedom, though they didn’t tell the newly freed humans that they would be able to keep their freedom after the rebellion. During the war, the cataclysmic conflict led to the creation of several of the barriers now common throughout the world, like the Infinite Chasm, the Maelstrom (a perpetual storm in the Eastern Sea off Hoshido) and the Europan Sea (Fates/Imperial Rewrite only). In the end, the Dark Dragons were nearly wiped out, their fallen forms coating the land that would become the Blight and slowly corrupting it. It was, however, a pyrrhic victory, as the few surviving Astral Dragons were forced to flee to the hidden realm of Touma, the original homeland of the Dragons, with their closest human followers. The few remaining Dark Dragons had no choice but to flee along with their brethren, nursing wounded psyches and resentment towards their thralls who had failed them, and to their former foes who they were now forced to live with for their survival. For the nations on the Europan continent, their mythology shares much with Nohr’s but rather than the Dark Dragons leading the rebellion, it was the human pantheon of those lands, rather than the dragons who broke the iron grip of the dragons, leading mankind to both freedom and salvation.

o In modern times, aspect of this creation myth have permeated across the culture of all nations on the Continent, though which aspects take precedence depends greatly on which side of the Chasm you are located. Typically, nations west of the Chasm have built their religions around the worship of the Dark Dragons, believing them to be the liberators of humanity and revile the Astral Dragons, seeing them as slave masters who robbed humanity of their free will. Conversely, nations to the east of the Chasm view the Astral Dragons as bringers of order to a chaotic world, and those who would follow the Dark Dragons are agents of chaos determined to replace their holy gods with fell ones whose disorder will mean the end of all things. In reality, both camps are simultaneously right and wrong about the nature of the Dragons. As for the Dragons themselves, no one has seen a true Astral or Dark Dragon for dozens of generations, though every noble dynasty or wealthy patrician likes to claim that they are the true descendants of the Dragons, though only the Plantagenets in Nohr and the Yamotos in Hoshido are descended from the Dragons. As for the Europans, their pantheon did exist as the leaders of the human rebellion, though they did collude with the Dark Dragons. That latter fact is oft forgotten by the Europan powers, who judge the dragons based on the feral Sun Dragons and Star Dragons in the Dolomite Mountains, little better than future mounts for the best warriors, not as the once-rulers of the world.

Kingdom of Nohr-

· Basic History

o Centered on the Kraken Crater, the Kingdom of Nohr is the central most kingdom on the western part of the Ivron continent. Despite its higher population, most of Nohr’s land continues to bear scars from the Great Dragon War of legend, with most of the land being ash wastelands caused by the volcanos of the Great Blight. As such, most of Nohr’s farmland produces only enough food to go around, meaning that famines can have a great effect on Nohr. The last great famine occurred during the reign of Garon’s great-grandfather, which was the incident that sparked Nohr’s initial expansion. The mountain range that dominates the northern section of the country, and the range that separates them from the Frozen Wastes, is rich in natural resources, including deep, high-quality iron. Before it’s expansionist phase began, Nohr’s economy was primarily based around selling weapons and metallic goods to the surrounding countries for their conflicts in exchange for food products. It was only after the rise of King Richard Plantagenet the 1st (Garon’s great grandfather) that Nohr began to spread outwards to subjugate these territories rather than trade with them.

· Society

o While, like many nations on the Ivron continent, Nohr does operate underneath a feudal system of government, several societal aspects set it apart. The most notable is the underlying meritocracy that permeates all levels of Nohrian society. Due to the traditional shortage of foodstuffs and medicinal herbs within Nohr’s borders, its society developed a “survival of the fittest” mentality across all of its social strata. A commoner, living in Windmire, through tenacity and grit, can very easily become a Royal Knight while a noble who is feeble or otherwise unfit can end up spending his life as a criminal in Windmire’s Underground District. While the nobility is obvious better equipped than the commoners, it is not uncommon for a noble son to try to strike above his position, only to fall to an upstart commoner.

o This does have the side effect of creating a cutthroat culture within Nohr proper, and this aspect of Nohr’s culture was a direct cause of the Concubine Wars. Nohr’s culture is very unforgiving towards failure, and fittingly, failure is often rewarded with severe demotion at best and execution at worst. For example, a commander who loses a battle with a majority loss on his side and he survives the battle may be killed by his own men while returning to Nohr, and if he survives to return to Nohr, he may even face execution for his incompetence.

· Culture

o The culture of Nohr is a reflection of its society, dominance-oriented. The buildings of Nohr are intentionally built as large as possible to show the power of the builders and of those who order the construction. Many of the castles and fortresses dotting the Nohrian landscape are built using darkstone, a material that has significance within the Nohrian religion, and as such help to enforce their dominance over the land. Statues within Windmire are typically of heroes of old or of the Dark Dragons which freed humanity from the order of the Light Dragons. Occasionally, a statue of a current hero or commander will be erected within a city or a town, though if the hero fails, then it is not uncommon for the statue to be smashed.

o The religion of Nohr is focused around the worship of the Dark Dragons. While most of the populace only pays token respect to the Dark Dragons, there are plenty of cults dedicated to individual dragons that played a key role in the liberation of humanity from thralldom, the most influential one being for the Dragon Anankos, the one who first freed humanity. These cults typically mount expeditions into the Great Blight in an attempt to find relics from the Great War, but for what purpose they desire these relics are unknown.

· Geography

o Nohr’s territory is almost entirely unsuitable for farming or grazing. Only the hardiest crops and livestock can survive in the desolate landscape surrounding Windmire and nothing can survive within Nohr’s portion of the Great Blight. There is some arable land just south of the Frozen Wastes, but this can only support minimal levels of agriculture. As if the gods wanted to make up for this deficit, the many mountain ranges in the north of Nohr are rich in natural resources and metals, which fuel both Nohr’s economy and military. While the Great Blight regions have never given Nohr any immediate benefit, many of the Dark Dragon cults and Nohr’s Sorcerer Academy have outposts in the region to harvest ancient artefacts and magical relics from bygone eras. While officially the Kingdom proper consists only of a few Duchies, the Kingdom does boast a very high population density when compared to territories in both the Greater Nohrian Empire and Hoshido. Again, due to the fact that the region is not capable of producing enough foodstuff to feed this population, Nohr must either trade or conquer new territories for subsidence. Large mountain ranges, thick swamps and uninhabitable wastelands surround Nohr itself, making all invasion attempts incredibly risky propositions.

Greater Nohrian Empire

· Basic History

o The term “Greater Nohrian Empire” came about as Nohr began to expand their influence from the core of the Nohrian Kingdom into the surrounding city-states, duchies and tribal lands. In most cases, rather than try to directly integrate these varied territories with Nohr, they were instead converted into tributary states that provide resources to Nohr that the Kingdom could not produce or could not effectively produce on its own, specifically foodstuffs. The Greater Empire also acts as the Kingdom’s main connection with the rest of Ivron and beyond through major states like Port Dia and the Cheve Kingdom. While many of the territories to the south are recent additions to the Greater Empire, many of the ones surrounding the original Kingdom of Nohr have been tributary states for so long that they see themselves as Nohrians, with little memory of their previous culture. Functionally speaking, there is no true “Nohrian Empire” as theoretically, each of the individual kingdoms and states are autonomous entities. However, the combination of their oath of fealty to the King of Nohr and the gradual assimilation to Nohrian culture throughout the “Empire” has caused both outsiders and the population of this reason to refer to themselves as the Empire of Nohr.

· Society and culture

o The societies of the Greater Empire differ with each tribe, Duchy or city-state within the realm, but there are some consistencies between the different regions, namely their gradual adoption of Nohr’s cutthroat-style meritocracy. Many states in the early stages of integration are rewarded with additional resources and military support the more they give their own resources to Nohr, encouraging meritocracy on a macro level which often permeates into all aspects of their society.

· States within the Greater Nohrian Empire

o The Core States, or those states that were originally subjugated by Nohr, are very similar to Nohr in terms of their society and culture. More often than not, the people of these regions see themselves as Nohrians, not remembering their original culture. The Core is the wealthiest part of the Empire, and is home to a disproportionate amount of nobles and merchants from other states in the Empire. The outer reaches of the Core are not as loyal to Nohr, as these duchies and cities still have some record of being independent of Windmire. However, with each passing year, more of those who remember their lands being independent pass away, and a newer generation who considers themselves Nohrians replaces them.

o The State of Macarath was originally known for being a bandit kingdom, which raided both the Duchies that became the Core Regions as well as the southern states around the Tabora Desert. Despite its rough reputation, its key position in fertile land in the middle between the Devil’s Bog and the Tabora Desert made it an ideal border-state for the initial Empire. Macarath has long been integrated within the Greater Empire, but many within its borders have not forgotten their old culture as bandits and mercenaries. Most of the foot soldiers found within Nohrian Armies come from Macarath, where the repeated raids across the Infinite Chasm toward Hoshido forge them into a disciplined force. The Maracarathians have taken a bit too well to Nohr’s cutthroat culture, and it is more bloody than Nohr on a bad day. Despite Macarath’s constantly fluctuating political field between various Syndicate groups, they remain loyal to Nohr over all else. This loyalty is what caused the Nohrian Royalty to establish their Summer Palace within the Kingdom of Macarath, rather than within Nohr.

§ Note: During the 4th Nohr-Hoshido War (the one prior to the one in Fates) most of Macarath’s farmland is salted by vindictive Hoshidoan soldiers. This maneuver destroyed much of the Kingdom of Macarath’s arable land and it is predicted to either cause mass famines across the Empire or be the main causus belli for an invasion of Hoshido.

o The City-State of Dia is a Merchant Republic that has sworn fealty towards Nohr. Officially, the state is ruled by a council of wealthy Patricians, however true political power lies with several Nohrian Nobles who, through connections with both Nohrian and Dian Merchants, are able to control trade through the Port City. The Patricians do not mind so long as they are making a profit through trade with other members of the Empire, Hoshidoan samurai seeking quality weapons, and merchants from the mysterious Imperium of Verdia across the sea. Culturally, Port Dia is a hotspot for the arts, as the Patricians pay well for great works of art in order to boost their own prestige compared to their rival Patricians. It is a common saying in this state that “Muse is the city of music, but Port Dia is the city of high art!”

o The Glacies Tribe, more commonly known as the Ice Tribe, is a semi-nomadic tribe that makes its home in the Southern Alps Mountain Range that borders the Tabora Desert and the Devil’s Bog. The Tribe’s best known ability is to manipulate the weather of their frozen home through magic, allows them to both create ideal weather zones for their agriculture (consisting of hearty mountain yaks and certain crops found in caves) and to defend their lands from interlopers who would threaten them. All members of the Glacies Tribe are magically adept to some degree, and a significant portion of the sorcerers in Nohr’s armies either is directly from the Tribe or can trace their heritage to the Southern Alps. Unlike many of the states within the Greater Empire, the Glacies Tribe has always been fiercely independent. While they do benefit from being a part of the Empire, as they have access to trade goods and knowledge that they would not have had otherwise, the Tribe’s nomadic nature and history of surviving in what is considered to be one of Ivorn’s inhospitable zones means they would rather rely on their own abilities than another nation. Recently, there have been rumors that Nohr, under Garon Plantagenet, has been maintaining the Glacies Tribe’s loyalty through intimidation, supposedly holding Chief Kilma’s heirs, his twin daughters, hostage somewhere. There is some concern that at some point, the Glacies Tribe will rebel against Nohr.

o The Cheve Kingdom is a large region to the south of Devil’s Bog and the Southern Alps. Similar to Nohr, most of cheve’s land is unsuitable for agriculture, though since Chev has a far smaller population than Nohr, a lack of food is less of a concern. To further alleviate the potential for a food crisis, the Citizens of Cheve, not including the nomadic tribes that live within the Tabora Desert, rely on the sea for subsidence. With most of Chevalier’s food either coming from the sea, the all but a small portion of the arable land is used to breed and raise horses, making Cheve the premier place to acquire mounts for both Hoshido and Nohr. In addition to horseback cavalry, the Tabora Wyvern, which is commonly found in the Kingdom’s western fringes, is one of the easiest monstrous mounts to be both captured and trained, making Cheve a mecca for knights across the Greater Empire seeking a better mount. Chev is the most recent inclusion into the Greater Empire, having been subjugated right after Garon took the throne after his father died in a border skirmish with the desert kingdom. Many of the Kingdom’s citizens, a fiercely independent people, resent being a part of Nohr, seeing both Nohr and the Greater Empire as parasites that feed off the success of other lands and gives little in return. The Chevalier Incident, where King Yamoto Sumeragi of Hoshido was lured into Chevalier City with the promise of a ceasefire and killed along with most of the Yamoto Branch Family in an ambush led personally by King Garon, only cemented the Nohr’s dishonorable reputation with both the commoners and nobility of Chev. As of now, there are several resistance movements within Chev; however, they are far from united, being split along ideological lines between those who seek more autonomy within the Empire and those who seek total independence.

o While they used to be far more widespread across The Forest of the Forlorn and the Southern Alps, a genocidal push by Hoshidoan troops during the Cherry Offensive ten years before the events of Fates pushed the remnants of the Wolfskin Tribes onto the mountain that became known as Garou Peak. While many of the various tribes continued to nurse grudges against one another, the tribes are united behind the leadership of Head Chief Keaton, who, despite his tendency to disappear to explore the world, has the leadership skills to ensure that the Wolfskin will follow him and ensure their survival. The Wolfskin have a bit of a tense relationship with the Greater Empire. While it isn’t uncommon to see at least one Wolfskin section in each of the Empire’s five Legions, any attempt to either tax or place human nobles over Garou Peak has resulted in their corpses lining the approach to the Peak as a warning. As no human has ever been beyond the border villages along the foothills of Garou Peak, no one knows how many Wolfskin are left, and rather than attack an unknown foe, the Empire has elected to leave the Wolfskin alone. There is a governor of Garou Peak, however, the position mostly exists as a formality. The Wolfskin Chieftains typically elect one of their own who will represent then should the need arise.

o While not technically a part of the Greater Empire anymore, the Principality of Nestra still has very close ties with both Nohr and the Greater Empire. A merchant republic similar to the Republic of Dia, Nestra, and its capitol of Cyrkensia is a major trade port where the wealth of the world is on display. Another similarity with the Republic of Dia is the almost obsessive way that the city’s wealthy, both feudal nobles and merchant patricians spend money on art. Though unlike the Dian nobles who spend on physical art like paintings or statues, Nestrans prefer to invest in drama and music composers. Politically, the Congress of Nestra do what they can to maintain a stance of absolute neutrality to the various conflicts across the Ivron continent, and despite the wealth to be had for anyone who owns the state, Cyrkensia’s position on low-lying swampland and the city’s extensive fortifications makes invasion a difficult proposition.

Geography of the Greater Empire

· Basics

o Similar to Nohr itself, the Greater Empire is home to several desolate or otherwise uninhabitable regions created either by natural processes or by corruption from the Great War. Despite the apparent desolate nature of the Empire, the land is rich in raw resources that have provided the states of the Empire with wealth and the potential for greater power, though only Nohr has capitalized on that potential.

· Major Regions

o The Forest of the Forlorn is a vast swamp located in the northern portion of Makaras and southern Nohr. While obstinately fairly normal for a swamp, the Forest is awash with magical energy blowing in from the Great Blight. While not as dangerous as the energy that covers the Infinite Mountains, the magical energy crossing the dark woodlands still has had a negative effect on the creatures and plants within the region. Carnivorous plants are commonplace and even the smallest mouse has heightened aggression and strength compared to creatures and plants elsewhere. In recent decades, the Forest has become increasingly populated by Faceless; including the earlier rejected Faceless models, modern Faceless and the nearly immobile Golems. These Faceless wander aimlessly through the woods, searching for travelers and larger creatures to feast upon. It isn’t uncommon for brave, or foolish, sorcerers to brave the Forest of the Forlorn to enthrall as many Faceless as they can, but most end up just being the Faceless’s dinner.

o The Southern Alps Range borders both the Forest of the Forlon and the Tabora Desert. Home to several of the world’s tallest mountains, this mountain range helps to divide the central portion of the Empire from the southern coasts. Unlike the Forest of the Forlorn to the North, the mountains protect the flora and fauna of the region from errant Dark Magic, saving them from its corrupting influence. Both, however, do have to deal with the chilling cold and wind as a side effect. What few plants that grow outside of hidden caves are incredibly durable and can break even steel and the animals tend to either be hard to find or apex predators. The only group of humans that has perpetually survived in this region are the Glacies Tribe.

o The Tabora Desert is widely considered to be one of the most inhospitable regions of the continent. Hot and arid, the few species that can live here often processes several adaptations to ensure their continued survival. The Desert’s most infamous denizen is the Tabora Wyvern, which lives along the coastal parts of the Desert. Despite the preconceived notion that the desert is inhospitable, the Desert is home to the large Kingdom of Cheve, who’s citizens are well adapted to living in a hot desert.

o The Great Blight: To the west of Windmire lies the Great Blight. As the battles of the Great War raged, many of the dying Dark Dragons fled to this place to end their lives. As they passed from this plane, the Dark Magic that gave them their immense power began to leak from their massive forms into the ground itself, corrupting it. This still happens even to this day. If an adventure were to brave the Blight, they would see the decaying giant dragons, their bleached bones the only landmarks for miles. The Great Blight is by no means a safe region. Other than the Infinite Chasm, no other location on Ivron, perhaps the world even, is such a nexus for raw magical energy. Its corrupting affects can be seen everywhere; no plants grow in this desolate wasteland, and the only wildlife are either men so mutated they resemble beasts or even stranger creatures who feed off of the raw magic surrounding them. The land is inhospitable to human life, with no food sources and no water sources that do not cause the flesh to melt off the bone for simply being exposed to it. The Royal Nohrian Mage Academy does operate a small outpost on the eastern most border of the Blight in order to facilitate research into more advanced forms of Dark Magic, but every few years the facility must be destroyed and rebuilt as the complex itself tends comes to life and promptly devours all within.

The Infinite Mountains and the Infinite Chasm

· Basic History and geography

o According to legends, the creation of the Infinite Chasm occurred during the Great War as a result of one of the battles between the dragons themselves. Even skeptics who doubt the existence of the dragons have to concede that they know of no natural way for the Chasm to form other than some titanic calamity. In reality, the Chasm itself is only a singular feature to the mountain range known as the Infinite Range. The mountains dwarf all others on the continent by several thousand meters and stretch as far north as the Frozen Wastes and only end when they reach the coast. The Chasm itself runs along the absolute middle of the mountain range, separating it into two distinct halves. Even the range terminating at the sea doesn’t end the Chasm, as it continues on into the ocean and it is theorized that it continues deep into the water. While not as hazardous as the Great Blight, the Infinite Mountains are still one of the most inhospitable regions on the Ivron Continent. Magical energy leaking out of the Chasm itself has mutagenic properties, which quickly become apparent on any form of life that resides within the Mountains. Mountain Goats become far larger and aggressive, already powerful predators like bears become even stronger, even the plants themselves are affected, with most being poisonous and the herbivores adapting to be able to consume these plants. While humans can live on the outer portions of the Infinite Mountains without difficulty, all attempts by both Nohr and Hoshido to settle deeper in the range has been met with abject failure as those settlers either mutate into fell beasts or go insane. Despite this, both nations constantly construct and maintain fortresses deep within the mountains along the Chasm to prevent an easy invasion, though there is nothing easy about invading of the Chasm, as it is wracked by almost constant lighting storms. To prevent the loss of these men, the fortress garrisons are constantly rotated between posts outside of the Infinite Range and those within the mountains.

· The Path

o Despite dozens, if not hundreds, of expeditions mounted by both Nohr and Hoshido, there has been only one truly navigable path discovered across the Chasm. Even then, this path is not easy to cross. There are several pillars of rock that line this section of the Chasm that had traditionally been referred to as the Sentinels. Made of durable Darkstone, these lonely pillars are the closest thing to a natural bridge across the Chasm. During the 3rd Nohr-Hoshido War, several clever (albeit foolhardy) Nohrian Generals managed to construct bridges linking these pillars and the two sides of the Chasm together. Despite this supposed advantage, by the time the Nohrians managed to make it to the Hoshido side of the Chasm, the Hoshidoans of the Owari Province had built a series of forts defending their approach. Not wishing to leave their rear vulnerable, the Nohrians countered by constructing their own series of fortresses. After the War ended, the Sentinels quickly became known as “The Path”. The bridges across the Path quickly became a no-mans-land, as both Nohr and Hoshido began focusing their efforts on both keeping their fortresses intact and their troops both whole and sane. Despite this, the Generals assigned to these forts from both sides constantly send out parties to ensure that their own bridges repaired to allow their own forces to invade if necessary. There are several smaller outposts on the larger Sentinels, and border skirmishes between Nohr and Hoshido over control of these outposts are not uncommon.

Azura likes cute stuff and I like her most with Keaton. I imagine she'd lose it when Velouria was a little kid with the little ears and tails and everything. I also imagine Shigure retains the ears and tail even when not a Wolfskin based class.

I headcanon that Corrin actually isn't bad at tactics - the dream at the start of the game are them dreaming of how they can use they've learned through their studies to practical use, and the other tutorials are more of them going over what they know before battles. But they are only good at managing small numbers of troops - aka the number of units you're allowed in each chapter is the most they can keep track of. Regarding Leo and Corrin's supports, I believe Leo is better at managing more troops and seeing the 'grand scheme' of the battle field vs Corrin's Elite Squad plans - that's why he specifically mentions using a smaller group to take out rear enforcements in one of his corrections because it's closer to Corrin's usual style and would be easier to understand.

Leo and Elise's mothers were both servants, which is why he can reclass to butler and both have access to troubadour trees.

Leo is also the only Nohrian sibling not to be able to reclass to any flying class because he's afraid of heights.

With the 'waifu wars' business, Camilla likely still can't attach to Leo and Elise as well as Corrin despite Camilla, Leo, and Elise's mothers all being dead because she can't quite shake what she was brought up with. With Corrin, there is no threat of another child being used by their mother that she might have to take out one day, and before the start of the game Corrin is so non-threatening that it's easy to mother them without restraint.

Hinoka deliberately picked Azama and Setsuna as retainers partly because they are difficult to upset - while her upbringing as a princess does mean she was taught more about how not to offend people, she's just not as in touch with the emotions of other people because her training meant she kept herself in solitude - not developing her social skills as much.

Mikoto is the one who taught Takumi archery and with her future seeing ability, always knew what nights Takumi would wake up from nightmares and be there to help him get back to sleep. With Corrin's arrival in Hoshido, some of Takumi's anger towards them is for unintentionally upsetting Mikoto when they say they don't remember her.

Kinshis and Pegasi have very different temperaments, and because Takumi can't get along with Pegasi that's why his only flying reclass option is for a kinshi knight.

Some of Orochi and Corrin's supports mention how silly Mikoto could be sometimes. Mikoto always knew how to make Sakura laugh.

In the Xander and Ryoma supports they mention how Hoshidans are always lurking around Nohrians for the first while, especially around Corrin. I headcanon they put Kaze up to tail after Xander, but didn't expect them to become friends.

At least once Xander entered his office to find Saizo already there. It's usually Laslow he asks to escort Saizo out.

Saizo tried observing Camilla for a day. Never again.

The reason why Arthur and Subaki don't have supports together is because Subaki already knows about Arthur's luck streak and keeps at least 15 feet away from him at all times.

Complaints about Laslow and Charlotte combined make up more than half the complaints Xander deals with daily.

No one has to ask when the Mess Hall serves lots of soup one day. They all know it's because Leo and Takumi had kitchen duty that day.

After Ryoma and Elise's A support, he finds a way to preserve the flower crown she helped him make. It something that always makes him smile whenever he looks at it.

Perhaps this "future sight" takes the form of us as players seeing the "to-hit" and "damage" variables?

That would make sense too as Anankos never wmsaw just one outcome. He could see all of the outcomes. So that is why percents would be listed, Corrin would instinctively know how likely certain outcomes are.

I guess the previous tacticians would have the same info by virtue of being really smart and thus can accurately predict that sort of thing.

Hoshido and Nohr are actually in the same universe as Ylisse/Valm, and they are located further west from the world of Awakening. Thus Severa, Owain, and Inigo travelled to Nohr via a sea voyage. They joined the Nohrian side under the pretext that Nohr was blockaded by Hoshido and had to expand in search for fertile land.

The country of Chon'sin are actually an offspring of Hoshido.

In one of the alternate universes, AU!Lucina and AU!Cynthia joins the Hoshido side, which makes that hypothetical game doubly tragic. AU!Lucina gets betrayed by her old friends, which opens up her old wounds from old nightmares - in that version of Conquest, she would eventually commit suicide, feeling that she has nowhere to belong to. In Birthright, she ends up executing Severa, Owain, and Inigo. Even in the happiest route of Revealations, she keeps distrusting and alienating the three, which creates issues in morale and coordination, and it is not until during one of the later chapters when Cynthia and Ryoma in person, and an angry letter from Chrom (who found out via correspondence from Lissa, Olivia, and Cordelia) all gave her the proverbial "The Reason You Suck Speech" that Lucina realises her flaws and amends with the Nohrians.

I have some agreeing head-canons with others here, but one I have is that the 2nd gen is 100% non-canon. They're more of a "What if" scenario. They all exist eventually, just not until after the war.

Also Azama brutally dies to Anankos and no one is sad.
