  1. 1. Would you like to see the Merlinus come back?

    • Yes, it was a creative way of including the convoy in gameplay.

    • No, it was more trouble than novelty. Convoy is better on the lord.

    • No, it's better if you can't access the convoy at all in battle.

I actually prefer the Lord Convoy, honestly.

But you know what could be interesting?

If we could choose what unit would be the convoy each battle. But giving a limit would be good, for example, if a unit was the convoy in one battle, they can't be the convoy for the next one.

Now I'm just envisioning everybody in the army picking straws, and the one who draws the short straw has to lug the giant backpack of items and weapons into the upcoming battle. But then they get Fatigued, so they can't carry it next battle.

no, why would anyone want that back

that's not even a rhetorical question i'm genuinely curious

This. I have no idea why you would take functionality away from a lord character and put it on a worthless character that is just there for you to have to protect and escort. A trait that can very easily make maps more tedious and unpleasant than they need to be. I'd prefer IS just put effort into making games more difficult in a more legitimate way than that.

EDIT: Actually, I am interested in the idea of selecting units to serve as convoy units. That sounds like it could be made into a pretty cool mechanic.

Speaking of Fatigue, choosing a a unit to be the convoy could be a good way to reintroduce Fatigue to the series.

For example, a unit can the convoy for one battle with no penalties , but if they are convoy again in the next chapter, it would lower their stats. And if the unit is the convoy for large number of chapters in a row, such as five times in a row, the unit would be unable to deployed for a chapter or two.

I like convoy warping items around as it allows for some fun tricks, but since I'm big on "finality" and the importance of each individual decision I would kind of like to see a game where the convoy is only accessible in the prep screen and only armory/vendor excess items can be sent to the convoy (there should always be an option to send it to the convoy instead of buying it on person). That is, if you pick up loot on the map you have to have space to hold it or you're going to have to chuck something.

Although really, rather than enemies dropping stuff I want Thracia capture/stealing instead...

I agree with you on the finality thing, but you have to realize that while this kind of thing is entertaining for us because it adds a new dimension to creating well-planned optimized strategies, for most casual/blind playthroughs it's not going to serve any purpose other than just frustrating the player because they have to drop some valuable item since they weren't expecting to pick up a new one.

^I think if anything the chest item should be force convoy'd, it's a bit silly to punish the player for having a full inventory while collecting treasure.
