I didn't want to necropost and I didn't see anyone post anything about this yet so, here's the anniversary picture that Kozaki Yusuke drew!

https://twitter.com/kymg/status/756959407724867584

The picture is really nice but I find her leg positioning a bit...confusing? I can tell that her legs are facing forward (away from the viewer) and she's twitching her body around to face the viewer but I feel like she's twisting a bit too...far maybe? Maybe I'm just being nit picky.

Also, Female Kamui/Corrin nendoroid and figma confirmed! I also saw prototypes of a Camilla figma in the works on tumblr but I don't know how reliable that source is.

The final result of the Elise nendoroid seems to be finished and she looks super cute!

Yo man, I want a figma of a Fire Emblem dude next come on Good Smile.

I am very excited for the Elise Nendoroid and Camilla figure. I think I'll try to buy them.

Corrin getting a Nendoroid AND a Figma, though? Really?? I know she was voted the most popular female character (for some reason), but come on! There are so many Fire Emblem characters that deserve figures, but Corrin gets TWO!?! So unfair.

Correction: only female Corrin seems to be getting them, which is also unfair for anyone who may have preferred the male Corrin.

But I can't say I'm surprised. Only the female characters are getting these figures, which shows the company's priorities. The official poll is skewed by nature because it divides the characters into most popular female and most popular male, which doesn't account for the actual popularity of each character. Several fan magazine popularity polls have consistently placed Takumi, Leon, and Xander (not in any order) as the top three most popular characters. Notice that they are all male, and that none of them are getting a figure.

I'm starting to think characters drawn by Kozaki have more than the ordinary number of vertebrae...

The Elise nendoroid looks really good and I'm glad F!Corrin is getting some stuff. Now make some for Azura or Ryoma pls.

One of my friends linked me this:

Camilla figma prototype

Assuming no supply problems, male Corrin at least is confirmed to be in amiibo form. However, he, along with Cloud and Bayonetta, is the only Smash fighter who still doesn't have a release date for his amiibo figure.

Sakura wen?

I'd get Elise, but I don't want to end up turning into my room mate spending +$1000 on figures and wall scrolls.

That's a statue (ala Tharja and Cordelia) not a figma. Figma are posable.

I'm sure all five of them are very upset.

I'm one of the five, as I pretend that female Corrin doesn't even exist, but I don't even like Corrin in the first place :P:

Also one of the five. The fandom's portrayal of F!Corrin ruined her for me.

The game ruined Corrin for me.

I think I'm gonna stop writing like this.

With how little came out for Fire Emblem Awakening, I thought it would be the same for Fire Emblem Fates. Not that I'm disappointed I was wrong.

For anyone interested in keeping track of the progress on these, I've provided links below.

Oh my God, I think a scale figure of Azura would be absolutely stunning!

I feel like all the Fates royals need figures now lol.

I see the Nohr Princesses are totally killing it.

Kind of surprised there's no Azura yet though. I can imagine the potential, but I guess it depends on if she's popular enough.

Also, no Leo or Takumi. Hmm. I know most figures are of girls, but still pretty bizarre.

Speaking as someone who has little interest and knowledge of this, are female characters much more common? I seem to remember figures being made of Cordelia, Tharja and Lucina.

Personally I'm not sure Azura is that popular honestly. Leo and Takumi, however, most definitely are, so I wonder what's up with them being neglected.

No one is surprised at seeing Camilla though, right? I believe I called this about as soon as I was done with Conquest a year ago.

There are plenty of guy figures, but they're predominantly female from what I've seen in recent years.

In Japan, Azura is just a place behind Elise in Nintendo's popularity poll. Granted, I dunno what the fall off is like after Elise.

Yup, Camila isn't a surprise XD

From what I've heard, female characters are much more popular, so they get made a lot more than male ones.

It's also a case where female characters, even if one-note and completely bland, are just way more predominant in works that especially appeal to the people who would buy Nendoroid's and such. If I can trace back from memory, things like Kantai Collection, K-ON and Girls und Panzer is all-girls without even the slighest sight of a guy, in comparison I can only remember Hetalia having predominantly male side but even then certain characters like Hungary and Belarus are female and have a decent-ish amount of screen time.

Tokyo Mirage Session could be a good example on this. We get three main dudes and around five girls. Even cameos from other games like Ilyana being a waitress are all women from what I hear since I haven't played the game. Anyone can correct me if need be, I don't mind, but I believe it's just more of a trend now. It's also been a bit stereotyped in japanese media that otaku in JP just tend to have female figurines at home and there could be some validity seeing as it's been proving to be a good venture focusing on the females.

Official male Fire Emblem character figures (as far as I know):

-Sigurd (trading figure)

-Eldigan (trading figure)

-Lewyn (trading figure)

-Chrom (Chara-forme)

-Marth (Super Smash Bros. amiibo and Nenderoid)

-Ike (Super Smash Bros. amiibo)

-Robin (Super Smash Bros. amiibo)

-Roy (Super Smash Bros. amiibo)

-Corrin (confirmed to be available as a Super Smash Bros. amiibo)

Official female Fire Emblem character figures:

-Sylvia (trading figure)

-Tiltyu (trading figure)

-Ferry (trading figure)

-Ayra (secret trading figure)

-Tharja (1/7 scale statue)

-Cordelia (1/7 scale statue)

-Lucina (figma and Super Smash Bros. amiibo)

-Caeda (Nenderoid)

-Elise (Nenderoid)

-Corrin (Nenderoid and figma)

-Camilla (1/7 scale statue)

With amiibo accounted for, the number of male and female FE character figures recently made or in production is near equal (7 male figures to 9 female figures) though unsurprisingly, there's more female figures that from popularity.

1. Well, Orange Rouge is the company along with GSC that makes Nendo/Figma series that are targeted after the female audience (Haikyu! and touken Ranbu).

2. I think the problem with male fire emblem characters is that they share the same design elements as Touken Ranbu characters (anthromorphic sword boys); and Touken Ranbu is what drives the fangirls crazy right now.

This Tumblr post kind of sets it straight, but also makes me very upset. To consider Azura a "bomb" in marketing, maybe, but as a character, hell no. I think she deserves much more attention than Corrin no matter what the fucking voters and marketers think.

But, y'know, like, with all the popularity polls, they seem to be fond of certain categories (gender, generation, royals, etc.). Lon'qu is my favorite Fire Emblem character ever and was ranked higher than Inigo in the popularity poll, but of course Inigo got more attention because he was the second-highest rated SON. Ugh. Maybe it is just Nohrian princesses this time around, although we could give it time. The Lucina Figma came out only last year, and the Cordelia figure last month.

From what I've heard, female characters are much more popular, so they get made a lot more than male ones.

Are they really though? From the polls conducted where there was no gender separation, the male characters seemed to be more dominant.

Like the Nintendo Dream poll, where there were (not counting Corrin who came in third and was counted as both genders) 6 males and 3 females in the top 10, with males occupying the 1st, 2nd and 4th places

http://knowyourmeme.com/photos/1032456-fire-emblem (I really wish I had a better source than this)

And also the Famitsu poll, where again there were more males in the top 10, with the top 3 spots being occupied by men.

https://kantopia.wordpress.com/2015/09/09/fire-emblem-fates-famitsu-survey-results-translated/

Now I can't say with certainty that this trend would've stayed the same at the time of the official nintendo poll but the results of the two previous polls lead me to believe that if it was conducted without a separation in genders, the only female character that would've been in the top 5 would be Femui (as she's the preferred self insert), with the rest of the spots being occupied by her most popular ships (Xander, Leo, Takumi, Jakob).

But then again, more women voted on the polls than men and this may have skewed it.

Maybe it's that the male otaku are just more willing to spend their money on merch than their female counterparts and therefore the market panders more to them as a result.

Also apparently the Camilla scale is being made by Intsys themselves and not Max Factory, the specialised company that did both the Tharja and Cordelia scales.
