Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past

Almost 60 hours of gameplay, 60 good hours.

I'm at present Coastal, doing the casino, I have zero idea of the use of this tablet, but I bought it. Emptied my gold pouch though, but it doesn't matter.

... though if it's a generic item thingy, I'll be mad. The beeper is still beeping.

Seems obvious, but here's a question about Sharkeye...

Sharky and Any had an unborn kid.

Sharky is stuck in ice with his ship, the King of sea proposed to Anise to be a Mermaid, so she could wait for him.

Alas, mermairds can't have kids, but,the King specifically say that the unborn child will just have a peaceful life somewhere else, protected by the spirit of water. And that he would inherit the mark that Sharkeye had.

The hero have the mark.

Then there's also the obvious hints, Anise confounding the hero with Sharkeye, the Seasnake Saber that only the hero can equip..

This is exactly what I think this is, right ?

Holy crap. if it is, this is awesome.

I'm 70 hours in and just got Aira. But I'm a pretty slow player anyway.

For the Casino, except the 100 coins Slot Machine, if you go in the Pilgrim's Rest, near Alltrades Abbey, the rightmost 10 coins one have 2 7 rows, which means it can gives you a lot (generally, it's 3000 (3 7s), but after a while, I was able to get 300000 (5 7s). In the past, you can save nearby, so it's the best one.

You should normally already have some of those grey fragments. They're used to access the Bonus Dungeon Post Game.

(Also, Not sure if you know, but if you show Majustis too the Great Mage in the Hubble region in the past, you'll learn Gigastis in the present at the same location.)

Went back to Greenthumb after completing El Ciclo. Still pretty bummed about that place-though it looks as if Maribel doesn't scold you this translation.

I feel kind of bad for double-posting, but...does anyone have any advice on the bastard that is Cumulus Hex/Hell Cloud? This son of a bitch is hard as hell, and it's pretty frustrating.

The Hero's at level 27, Ruff at 25, with both Sir Mervyn and Aishe at 23.

Hero's mastered Warrior, Dancer, Thief, and Sailor, Ruff has mastered Mage, Shepherd, Martial Artist, and Priest, and both Sir Mervyn and Aishe have mastered Warrior (the latter having already come with Dancer mastered, of course).

Currently, in order, Priest, Warrior, Sailor, and Martial Artist.

Have someone master Healslime, Mervyn or Hero are the best choices. This gives Multiheal, which should make him (and anything else) MUCH easier.

Beyond that, there's not much else to it. I've never had trouble with the guy.

On another topic, I beat the bonus bosses. I'm kinda sad they called the first one "The Almighty" in his battle instead of "Numen" (his obviously superior DQMJ2 English name)

Defeated the demon king, fully, restored the world, the game is not finished yet, a huge ass tower appeared out of nowhere and those creepy ass zealot too.

Gee, I wonder if they are bad guys ?

Oh, and Riff is a Hero now ! He have Roto's crown, while his mom that the Zenithian's !

I finally figured out that, yes, I can go back there and see that things changed.

It is kind of funny to note that it is the two worst people who got the best ending.

Well, 'worst'... the yandere is the worst, the other is just lazy, stupid, and irresponsible.

What I really loved in this sub plot was how no one, no one, was innocent, everyone had their own share of responsabilities.

Special mention to miss 'I give up my kid so I can look at my true love from a church on a cliff without ever talking to him lel', good thing say kid is like her true love, hard working, patient, smart, understanding. He even looks like him ! How weird.

'I wish him to be happy, even if he don't deserve it', not the exact phrase, but still. Dat NPC.

And I'm a pretty fast player, especially when motivated, so don't use me as a reference.

... I don't want to farm casino, it's always a nigthmare. :-(

Honestly the only decent individual in Greenthumb was Herbie/Porta.

And Iwan/Dill's father and Cherri/Camomile I guess.

Kaya/Cayenne was a murderous yandere, Linda/Lavender abandoned her kid and never solved anything for herself, Pepe/Carraway ran away rather than holding a sit down and talk, and Dill/Iwan was a lazy bum, though he had reason to be suspicious of Carraway and did care for Lavender.

Literally all the drama could have been avoided if they just tried to talk things out imo.

As for my place in the game, I'm working on the monster park. Only have Metal Slime S left to go for main game foes. All of my main team is level 99, so I'm not in too much danger of dying.

The most... fascinating thing about Greenthumbs is that it's the only time all the troubles are caused entirely by humans. The Demon King's role is finished in a matter of minutes, and Greenthumbs flling are only due to people acting so damn stupid.

I finally beat Cumulus Hex. Unfortunately, I didn't have any Healslime Hearts, so I went with Focus Strength + Knuckle Sandwich. Took care of him rather quickly. After an Oomph from Ruff, it did almost 600 damage in one shot.

Can I say that the "Zenithian Conk" download tablet boss, while not too hard for me (level 99 op) was pretty awesome?

Also, I've recruited all main game and released download monsters. There was apparently a rumor on Gamefaqs that getting Chibi's Memento prevents further recruitment of special monsters, so I'd like to confirm this is 100% false. I obtained the memento and still recruited a gold mannequin, the last of the released monsters I needed.

I'm still so far away from actually doing any DLC...XD I'm in the Vogograd. Which is yet ANOTHER depressing area, though I like how we see some of the results from this area long beforehand.

Correcting myself on the Monster Meadows bug: The real issue is Monty is a jerk who doesn't accept anything new.

Also, why the game took so long to get okay'ed:

MF4gjsW.jpg

This bookshelf full of binders is something of an in-legend at Enix. Those binders contain absolutely nothing but Japanese scripts for Dragon Quest VII.

Let's prey the bigger bookshelf (Dragon Quest X) gets localized sometime.

Huh, I wonder if Skarkeye realize, or at least theorieze that

Arus is his son.

Makes me wonder.

Roamers spoiler:

I've put in another 20 hours of gameplay since Kiefer left the party and I'm still bummed about him leaving. WTF?

Yeah, he's sorta like Harry from DQV in that regard, seems permanent, then up and leaves while giving back everything.

[spoiler=postgame]You thought I was going to say he was gonna rejoin? Well, he doesn't, but you do get to do a quest related to him via traveler tablet download after you beat the game

What really ?! That's badass !

Oh yeah, and how did you managed to be lv99 ? Then again, I'm not sure if I really want to know, being only lv 36.

Must be a end game trick, no ?

Not really long story short, some kind soul put a Metal Mannequin/Platinum King Jewel/Metal King Slime Traveler's Tablet up for grabs, and I got lucky and received it. Edited by Glaceon Mage

Earth Temple... or rather pyramid, here I am !

Maribel is finally a Druid !... Which looks more like a Miko than a druid just like Gladiators looks like Ninjas... And Aira became Godhand, now, that this stupid helm is gone, I can finally look at her hair once more.

Arus and Riff have mastered Hero since a while, I dunno if I should bother with other classes.

"Woaw, you must've been dedicated as hell to grind up to level 99 !"

"Nah, someone just gave me a tablet full of Metal slimish monster."

The destruction of the admiration. :p

Jk, obviously, that's still must've been a lot of work, metal slime and all.

Not really. Champion Level 8 gets a skill that basically can 1HKO Metals every time, provided they don't flee.

...Said skill did not do this in the Playstation version.

You know, out of curiosity, do the DLC tablets rotate weekly? 'Cuz it'd kind of suck if I couldn't do every one.

Also, for the monster park, is it EVERY numbered monster, plus dlc monsters? Or only some monsters?

Yes

For Monty to regard it as complete: Every main game monster that is able to be recruited. HOWEVER, having Monty regard it as complete bugs him out and prevents you from adding any more, including DLC monsters you haven't recruited and monsters with barns.

I sent a report to SE on this (and the Maribel teleportation glitch) a while back, last thing I heard was support forwarded it to the appropriate party.

So, the final boss is a rough sumbitch. Any recommendations? Currently at level mid-thirties with everyone. Sticking with Hero, Aishe, Mervyn, and Maribel.

Also...it feels like Holy Water and Holy Protection are downright useless. None of them appear to actually work...it also sucks when Holy Protection wears off, but the monster CATCHES UP TO YOU MID-TEXT BOX.

Have Maribel be a Druid with Healslime mastered and a Mad Cap.

Focus Pocus, Multiheal, Multiheal...
