Mercenary -> Sword Fighter (basically a Hero, but Alm had that class name) -> Dread/Demon Fighter was the promotion path. There was not really any myrmidons in the series yet. It was kind of inconsistent about who got third tier classes though. The other three third tiers were Bow Knights, Barons, and Gold Knights. I think we could have some class get tweeked like in Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem since I did saw Shadow Dragon and Blade of Light didn't have Knights promote to Generals & Hunters promote to Horseman back then, Mages were promoted to Bishops since Sages weren't in the original game, and Fighters & Pirates doesn't promoted back then since Warriors & Berserkers didn't existed in the original game. Marty actually was the first playable brigand. If Anna is in the game she better not be behind a pay wall.
