Emperor Hardin
To explain this: Caeda has uses Lances as her main weapon for decades, virtually all her official artwork depicts her with a Lance, she has the Wing Spear, a unique spear only she can use, and in all but one game she is not able to use Swords at base. Even in the one game where she could use swords at base, her map sprites depicted her with a Lance. So with all these things why does Fire Embelm heroes, against all logic, make Caeda use Swords? Its not as if the game is lacking sword users, there are tons of them! To a lesser extent this applies to Draug too who hasn't had the ability to use Swords since the NES original. Brand_Of_The_Exalt
Caeda did wield a Sword in Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light! But the fact that they gave her an Armorslayer makes no sense, since it's supposed to recall her Wing Spear...! Not to mention the fact that she's terrible against armored units with it, so another weapon would've been better, especially since her Res is so high! True, but as mentioned she could also wield Lances, and her MAP sprite always shows her wielding a Lance. Even that TCG card lists her weapon type as Lances. I'd argue a Ridersbane would be more fitting for the Wing Spear.

Yes basically a Heavy Spear would be much better suited for her, since she could take care of mounted Mages more effectively! Probably since an Iron sword is her weapon when she joins for the first time, they wanted to keep it for Heroes. On the other hand, she had a Lance in the Mystery of the Emblem anime. If thats the reason, I wonder why they didn't do the same for other characters like Catria?
Brand_Of_The_Exalt
I don't know... Maybe because she wields a Sword too on her old TCG art, and it's not mentioned that she can wield Lances. She also starts with a Killing Edge in the first game.

All her other TCG art gives her Lances. Only one rare promotional art gave her a Lance. Edited February 2, 2017 by Emperor Hardin
Brand_Of_The_Exalt
So it's probably about their first weapon. Both started with swords. Concerning Daugr, he also starts with both and Iron Sword and Lance, so they gave him a sword it'because they couldn't find any Sword General. So how come other characters like Catria don't come with their starting NES weapon type? There's always Meg, and Arden, both of whom are pretty popular. Thany
if they do version differences, like mystery of the emblem, we could see a different Caeda that uses lances alongside king marth. since the first chapter is shadow dragon, perhaps they thought it was best to use the early art of her using swords. Topaz Light
I'm pretty sure a lot of these decisions were made for balance reasons... The line of thinking was probably along the lines of "Oh, Knights and Pegasus Knights could use Swords in FE1! That means we can treat any FE1/11 characters of those classes as being viable picks to wield either weapon! Awesome!" rather than "Let's have every single FE1 character's weapon type call back to their starting weapon in FE1".

As mentioned, Caeda in particular is super associated with Lances to the point of having a personal Lance weapon to herself. Why not give swords to Catria, or Est if they wanted a sword Pegasus Knight?
Topaz Light
Now, that, I honestly couldn't tell you. It does seem like a pretty strange decision. Guess they just weren't thinking about that or something.
SatsumaFSoysoy
Since Shadow Dragon Caeda and Mystery of the Emblem Caeda were listed differently in Choose Your Heroes, I bet they'll release a different Caeda eventually.

I honestly don't think they're separating Shadow Dragon and Mystery of the Emblem. So far, Mystery has been used to market every character from the Archanea games.
