Cover Art and Lord of the Rings

Recommended Posts

Now I know what you are thinking, the hell does Fire Emblem Gaiden/Echoes have to do with Lord of the Rings? Well, the cover art features something quite reminiscent of a major city in Lord of the Rings.

Minas Tirith

They look really similar. Both are built into the side of a natural structure. One a mountain with Minas Tirith, the other could be a mountain or a plateau. They are both tiered, and they both have a large tower like structure like a palace or something of the like.

They clearly took inspiration from Lord of the Rings there, which I find really interesting.

Well, that just makes the game that much cooler as far as I'm concerned. (Anything that can remind me of LoTR wins automatic brownie points for me)

Doesn't help I just got through watching Return of the King this week. I was saving the picture for my new desktop wallpaper, and I noticed it looked a lot like Mina's Tirith. If no for watching it earlier this week, I wouldn't of noticed until I probably played the game.

Well all modern fantasy stories are inspired by DnD which itself was inspired by Lord of the Rings

It's kinda funny. DnD was inspired by the LotR books, but the LotR movies were inspired by DnD

It really is funny how many tropes of the fantasy genre in video games originated in D&D. For example, the whole idea that priests/clerics are the people who cast healing spells. Even the term "hit points".

A good bit of the fantasy stories and worlds even started out as DnD campaigns.
