FE16 "leaks"

After games like KH3 and FF15, I've learned a year really isn't a long time to be waiting for a game. Even if FE16 gets pushed back, that's usually a positive. Most of the time they get pushed back for the better. There's so many worries about it being lazy or having rushed writing, but at the same time you want the game asap. I'm just glad a console fire emblem is happening in the first place.

Good Point

Before the direct I was expecting a July/August release however since it hasn't revealed I think a September-December release is more likely. There is no way it is pulling a Fallout 4, at least not successfully, Fire Emblem doesn't have that same ability to drum up hype especially when everyone is now expecting smash (I can see them possibly releasing smash July though). I would say September would possibly be the most likely time for a release since it at least avoids a holiday release which it probably would fail with, but since smash has been revealed before it there is no way it is going to perform as well as they want it to without a delay.  This is assuming it doesn't get a delay, if it does I can see it being out February

At this point since the whole direct subsided now lets just keep a positive open mind going forward.

Kinda difficult, knowing we've still got at least two more months of silence.

Then there will be a hung knight who gets his package removed in the localized version.

I wish people would stop comparing large boobs to a large package. That's not at all equivalent. Fanservice catering to straight women always either focuses on butt shots or their bare chest if they're shirtless. Just look at how female fans reacted to Grima's damage portrait in Heroes (and how they reacted to Bruno's damage portrait before that). No one wants to see a guy's crotch outside of porn any more than they want to see a girl's.

Not really since nothings changed since not now 2 more extra months is nothing at this point.

Actually I wonder if they are going to pull a Mario Odyssey-XC2 on us and have Smash release in October then have FE release in December for the holidays so that it can sell more to the new Switch owners. FE was never going to sell as much as their big titles. I can see it outselling Fates and XC2 though and that isn't a failure in the least.

I can always suspend you until that happens.  In other words, tone it down.

To the rest of this topic: Please reread the Code of Conduct.  I've had to hand out way too many warnings for small things.

Tone what down? I wasn't disrespectful towards anyone, didn't use abusive language, I outlined Nintendo's current strategy (by my view) and criticized it without using profanity, so tone down the disappointment? Well, I said my piece and left. So forgive me for not understanding what you mean by that.

Anyway, as for FE16 I don't believe there's another good opportunity for Nintendo to announce FE16 until E3 or after. If it's announced before E3, it'll mostly be overshadowed by Smash. If it's announced at E3... it'll be overshadowed by Smash, Metroid, etc. After E3 well, the same holds true. They've missed their ideal time to announce it, and the lack of marketing has been known to hurt FE in the past. I'm personally a little nervous about FE's sales, a Fall-Winter release usually doesn't go over too well for FE titles.

I wonder what the likelihood of another Direct happening mid to late Spring... like a Late April/May direct. Is that out of the usual time frame? That way, FE won't be overshadowed by Smash at E3 (if either of them are there hypothetically- I'm not confident that Smash will be ready by then though.)

one could argue that this hasn't been properly tested, given fire emblems current level of recognition. Though I can agree that the august - december does not feel like an ideal time for a big rpg release.

Since we're allowing dubious leaks, here's one that showed up today on gfaqs from someone with seemingly no previous credibility; I'm just kind of having a laugh at it, but I figured it would be appropriate to post.  He claims a trailer is in April for the anniversary.

Spoiler

"The setting is inspired by Greek and Roman styles - apparently there's a country inspired by the Persian empire as well. There's lots of ships and ports. I haven't seen much but what I did see was a big focus on white, blue and gold palettes. A necropolis plays an important stage in the game.

Main character is a girl, Leroria, but she shares the spotlight with her childhood friend. She's got orange hair in a bun and red eyes (no info currently on whether that's important or just a design choice). She's a sword lord; her sword has a magical orange glow on it and what looks like an emerald in the hilt. She's apparently a diviner who gets separated from him early-game.

The guy is called Visu who studies ruins apparently (his concept art shows him with a huge book in hand at all times). Kind of a withdrawn archivist type, who Leroria is always dragging around. He's a mage who wields a new tome that fucks with the motions + time of others; it's a more powerful version of daggers that debuffs enemies after attacking with movement restrictions. Apparently one of his later spells can make enemies straight up miss a turn of action, locking them in place. He's got a ponytail and I think the female fans are going to like him, at least looking at his initial designs.

Various other scraps that may or may not be right (basically random crap i've picked up or heard whispers of, but aren't confirmed):

-Big cast; Leroria and Visu get to choose their own armies as recruitment is a big theme in the game.
-It was apparently the intent for multiple main characters to die, but I don't know how fully realised this is in-game.
-Last I heard, it's still a 2018 release; they wanted the localisations to be closer together to avoid spoilers
- There are other non-standard tomes/mages in the game like Visu, including a tome that lets you mind control enemies (restriction on boss units, obviously)

That's all you're getting from me for now. Enjoy, or throw rocks, or whatever. Remember to keep an eye out for April's trailer!"

Tone down the hyperbole.  Go ahead and be disappointed, but if it gets to the point where I'm offering to suspend you, you've gone too far.

Me?  I'll wait for as long as I have to, since I don't think I'm getting a Switch anytime soon.

Better than nothing. Something for the imagination

I mean, April 20th is kind of an easy date to guess, really any of us could make something up and say it's coming then lol.

I do like the idea of Greek v Rome and Persia... but I think this is along the lines of credibility of Vampire and Pirate Emblem haha.

So not true. I'd love to see a large package. Haha. Give me some damaged art with a nice outline, I'm all for it. XD

But for this "leak" it at least sounds pretty cool. I mean. I'm all for a girl wielding a sword and a nice guy mage. It doesn't sound real, but I wouldn't be necessarily upset if it was. Though I just want some leaked art at this point.

This leak seems fake. The leaker would be smart enough to provide evidence if they've seen character art. Though I get the impression they had some sort of meeting meant for those involved with localization and it's a sneak peek for the employees if that's the reason why there isn't any evidence (smartphone get confiscated before heading to these kinds of meetings)

You wonna know something funny??

Last year when the release dates were revealed for the Warriors dlc packs,I feared that we might not see anything related to FE switch untill the dlc for Warriors were out of the way because I theorised that Big N was worried that FE switch might steal the spotlight from Warriors.

And I was partialy correct, this month the final dlc pack for Warriors will come out.And I doubt that before then we'll hear anything about FE switch.

Just some food for thought.

Though I was disappointed by the direct, I overcame this and I thought some things. First, as many say the direct focused on spring-summer releases. As far as smash is concerned it is a great addition to the switch's library and could even be used to promonte FE 16 with something simmilar to corrin. Next, I am 90% sure that we will get a small tease before E3 be it in April 20th or in a direct. If this is true then E3 will definitely have a new trailer along with some gameplay. Since I haven't played smash (might try this one out) I don't know how smash schedules its releases but it was showcased in a Spring-Summer direct and scheduled for 2018 so I expect an August-September release (Smash fans correct me if I am wrong) so that leaves FE16 which was shown in that financial 2018 report thing (think it is called like that) for this year. Which leaves the Japan release somewhere near Christmas (not to get it overshadowed by other games + I don't think pokemon is coming this year). Can't say about the rest of the regions, but hey the switch isn't regionlocked soooo.

Well, that was a big post.
